Gee Tracy 5, guess you aren’t speaking to the same people we are, who are getting their hours cut back and have been for months. And Harris county went Blue, so maybe by 2012 intelligence will out.
Also, Texas matches others with dumbest representatives, so Oklahoma, Missouri, Iowa, Michelle Bachman, to name a few, we don’t have the corner on the market of idiot representatives.

A couple of things:

1. Perry bankrupted the unemploument fund by arbitrarily lowering the employer tax when things were going good, against all advice. Now he’s having to beg for it.

2. You don’t register by party in Texas. All primaries are open, you can vote at either one.

3. The reason Texas is Republican is because of all the people who came here from other states. We are making progress, though The House of Representatives now has only two vote republican advantage.

4. Perry is the only governor who got caught blowing a male lobbyist in the state capitol and got away with it. His wife will be a rich divorcee as soon as he is out of office.

5. Perry was elected last time with only 39% of the vote, due to multiple candidates.

I would have though that this clown would have already seceded. What is he waiting for. Ther are other states who probably want Texas to go already so that those federal facilities in Texas can be moved to other states. You know, federal facilities like:

NASA’s Johnson Space Center located in Houston
Federal Banks
Federal Correctional Institutions
Federal Highway system
Federal Public Health Institutions

Military Major Bases/Installations such as:
- Army (Fort Bliss, Red River, Fort Hood, Fort Sam Houston)
- Navy & Marine Corps (Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, Kingsville Naval Air Station
- Air Force (Randolph AFB, Brooks City, Lackland, Sheppard, Carswell, Dyess, Goodfellow, Laughlin)
- Coast Guard (Corpus Chrisit, Galveston, Houston, Port Arthur)

Federal Buildings (Ft. Worth, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, McAllen, Texarkana, Terrell, Abilene,(just a partial list because these buildings are in most cities in Texas))
- All U.S. Post Offices
- All United States Courthouses
- All federal law enforcement agencies

I also wonder what Texas is going to used for currency since the United States currency can’t be used?

I for one can’t wait for Texas to leave the Union. We should declare it a national holiday.

Palin is supposed to come to Texas and campaign for Perry. If she gins up the angry right-wingers and goes Palin as usual, she may motivate people to support the Dems. I am hoping for a good Dem candidate.

Perry is playing to the far-right wing-nuts in Texas, because he is a right-wing nut and he is counting on them to win the GOP primary. I agree with texasrick, areas like Byran/College Station are far-right, (I’m a lawyer and I’ve appeared there) I agree with krystalview too, but the big cities in Texas are turning more blue for sure: Houston, Dallas, San Antonio. Austin is as liberal as Boston. I live in Houston and lots of people want to see a Dem in office, because they’re sick and tired of the Texas GOP, and very sick and tired of their religious nonsense. I don’t know if Dems can do it this time, but eventually Texas will go dem. Even many former Republicans just can’t take it anymore.

I have always disliked Perry for many reasons. How about Palin coming to TX to campaign for him? Well, the reason I wrote: I have seen a billboard on the hwy between Dallas and Ft. Worth that asks citizens to chip in to help rebuild the Gov’s mansion that burned in the not too distant past. This really chaps my hide. These no new taxers, ugh. The way I remember it . . . there was one guard in a shack by the mansion and the alarm and communications did not work! Well, when you CUT TAXES and keep cutting them until you have only one guy in a shack with lousy, faulty eqpt . . . what do you expect? I won’t send a dime!

I agree that not providing these benefits hurt the economy further.

Tracy’s comment got a -7 rating, which I find a little strange. Seems to me that her acknowledging that both saving jobs and a recognition that a failure to provide unemployment benefits hurts the economy further is a GOOD thing. I’m mystified by a negative rating like this for what appears to actually be some growth on the commenter’s part (considering the history of previous comments). People CAN change, you know?

In Texas if one puts a pig’s bladder on a stick he gets to be governor. As far as I’m concern the republiKKKan was conceived by parents who either inter-marriage by first cousin-to-first cousin or the well water had too much lead in it.

Republikkkans are now hanging on by a thread and the thread is by lying, falsifications, pointing fingers, joining up with other KKK members. It’s finis waloo for them. They are now known as the Party of No, going nowhere, nohow, not much, nada, nothing, pura cagada, kaput, etc.,.

I remember when Good Hair made his secession speech. I know KKKonservanzis were so proud that they even volunteered to move to Texas to guard the border and throw out the Obama United States. When I explained to one KKKonservanazi idiot that when and if Texas would ever do anything like that, it will quickly fall by the wayside because TAXES would go through the roof. Texas receives quite a huge chunck of money from the Fed just for military that is stationed in Texas.

The KKKonservanazi’s little balloon burst. He mumbled something and wondered away.
Now, Good Hair is asking for money after he made a show of turning it down.

A rat sooner or later has to return to its rathole. This is in the case of Perry. Perry had his chest puffed up along with the Party of No refusing the stimulus funds. Now that the economy continues to sink and his state is in financial trouble, what does he do? Crawl from under the sewer pipe and have his hand out for the stimulus money. Man, Perry and the Party of No are looking more clownish everyday.

If Perry thinks that he can get around paying benefits to the poorest single mothers, college students and senior citizens by turning down stimulus dollars so that he wouldn’t have to meet the stimulus criteria and then get the money anyway by calling it a loan, then I sure hope that he is out of his ever loving mind. I don’t think he’s such a great loan risk. I think he should have taken it as stimulus. California wasn’t allowed to borrow money from the Feds during their time of crisis and Texas shouldn’t either.
