‘Operation Rescue’ founder warns of ‘violent convulsions’ if health bill doesn’t ban abortions.

terryFresh off his claim that “[t]o refuse to filibuster [Sotomayor] is to bow in abject obedience to the Angel of Death,” Randall Terry, founder of the right-wing extremist group Operation Rescue, warns that his supporters may engage in violent acts of terrorism unless Congress prohibits abortion services from being covered in the new health reform legislation:

Background: It is clear that many elements in the pro-abortion congress and White House want to force Americans to pay for the murder of the unborn in their “healthcare” program. If that happens, it is tantamount to the government putting a gun to taxpayers’ heads to pay for the brutal murder of an innocent child. This is tyranny and evil of the highest order. . . .

“Nevertheless, the sheer horror and frustration of such an evil policy will lead some people to absolutely refuse to pay their taxes. And I believe — if my reading of history from America and around the world is correct — that there are others who will be tempted to acts of violence.

“If the government of this country tramples the faith and values of its citizens, history will hold those in power responsible for the violent convulsions that follow.” — Randall Terry

Terry is probably the first public figure to raise terrorism as a potential response to a health bill which allows Americans to keep the same access to reproductive care that they currently enjoy. Many conservative lawmakers, however, are pushing a poison pill amendment to the health reform package being considered by Congress that would forbid any plan offered within a national health insurance exchange from providing coverage for abortion services. 71% of Americans oppose an amendment, such as this one, which would cut off women’s access to reproductive care.

So it’s clearer than ever that the Reichwing Evangelicals are the real terrorists. Good thing President Obama has the power to round them up and stick them in Gitmo for an indefinite term, without counsel or trial.

abject obedience to a mushroom? What the hell is up with this guy?

  3. Mike Hunt says:

Let me get this straight. Randall Terry wants to commit violent acts of terrorism regarding abortions. Yet he supported Bush attacking terrorists in the Middle East because they are “bad.” Conversely this man claims to be “pro-life” and also pro-family and a compassionate conservative yet he wants to potentially cause people’s death? I guess Randall Terry is the real face of the new Repignofascist Party. Maybe Rush will have to step aside for the new leader of the 21 percent of Americans who claim to be Repignofascists. They have become thoroughly confusing.

Randy Terry is a lunatic that needs to be put away for life. Googgle this B****tard. I did a long time ago and found that he used abortion as a gateway to his ambition to achieve political fame and fortune. Terry is in the same league with that Fred whats-his-name from Kansas, both are nuts and both have followers that are even more crazy than their leaders.

Actually, no, Randall. History will hold rabble rousers who encouraged violent convulsions responsible: think John Brown and Harpers Ferry. If you keep up your behavior, you’ll likely find yourself on the end of a rope, just like Brown — or the modern equivalent.

Refusing to pay your taxes and resorting to violence because you object to the extent of coverage in an as yet unenacted health care bill = patriotism. Makes no sense to me but what can you say about a crowd that advocates killing for jeebus but labels itself pro-life.

These guys put all their faith in the Bush Adminisrtration. And what happened? A big fat nothing. Now, instead of blaming Bush and his cronies, they will target Obama and anyone else. These guys were used by Republicans, plain and simple. They used them for their votes and cast them aside. Now they know hardly anyone is listening. Young people are more Democratic, and Independants, although some Pro-life, they believe it is up to a woman to decide. Unfortunity, these guys are going to get much more agressive because their back is up against a wall. They are the screeching minority.

  25. Mr. Cobb says:

I knew it would come to this. They realize that Roberts being appointed to the SCOTUS by the Bush administration was the high-water mark for ever getting another reich-wing whack-job appointed. There will probably never be a GOP president again in any of our lifetimes and society is changing so now they will resort to violence. That’s why Tiller was shot in Kansas. Intimidation and violence are all they have left.

  26. Wayne says:

    paleolib says:

The “Christian” god is the same god of Judaism and Islam, which started its first incarnation as a hill/sky god, one of a pantheon, that required blood sacrifice, animal or people. All 3 branches of the Abrahamic religions have been shedding blood for a long time with no end in sight. So the people calling themselves “Christians” being bloodthirsty savages make perfect sense to me, looking at it historically.

  29. RantingTommy says:

Childbirth can be torture for many women. Randal Terry wants to force women to be tortured.

And let’s be real, they don’t care at all about the fetus, they see the pregnancy as a punishment for having sex and it makes them angry when a woman “gets away with having sex” without suffering the consequences.

They are not pro-life, they are anti-choice.

Ultimately, they will be totally discredited. However, they will become much more dangerous in the short run.

Dow Jones Industrial Average produced an annualized return of 7.21% during Democratic presidents, in contrast to an average of 3.6% during Republican presidents — or almost precisely half as much, in other words.

As a Quaker, I would love to be able to have a line-item veto on my tax return that would funnel my dollars toward useful efforts that don’t kill people. Maybe by voting with our purses, we could cut the Military-Industrial complex down to a size that couldn’t drive our entire foreign policy.

Should bit read the above comments and understand that most TPers support the idea of black genocide – black genocide masquerading as a right from the U.S. government?

bit has previously posted links to US government statistics showing that more that 1/3 of all abortions are to women of color, and that in some states, Alabama specifically, 1/2 of all abortions are to women of color.

    Link to US government statics:

If this health bill, so-called, provides US taxpayer provided abortions, what do TPers think will be the response of impoverished women of color? Is this someone’s idea of genocide? If so, it would be fitting because the beginnings of the abortion industry came from those interested in limiting the undesirables. See bit001.

Would it not be more just, and saner, to simply teach people to be responsible in their sexual expression?

What kind of people make their women, and their offsprings, the source of an industry devoted to killing? ( “Every time there is an abortion, something dies.” – Al Gore) And as a consequence, death has a direct link to the US Treasury. This is intolerable, and it is unjust. It is unjust to force responsible citizens to pay for the abortion for either irresponsible or uncaring citizens. The more injustice the government perpetuates the more one should expect to see the end of the U.S.

This remark assumes facts not in evidence, but then again, the liberal TP posters haven’t tried for accuracy in this thread have they?

The remark also assumes that all it takes is “comprehensive sex education.” The extent to which values are taught in school is the same extent to which http://www.charactercounts.com teach values. Do you think getting your values from a website will instill as sense of importance? The culture has been teaching meaninglessness, and that’s what it’s getting in return – meaninglessness.

Like the scripture says: sow to the wind and reap the whirlwind.

Government sex education doesn’t work because it doesn’t involve the emotional and spiritual self. Seems someone in the government thinks covering the plumbing is all it takes or covering the plumbing is all that is legal.

The romantic image in the magazines in the checkout lines will easily override the teaching about the plumbing.

Why? Rational sex education in public schools and easy, often free, access to condoms and other birth control. If one claims to be anti-abortion then it’s not possible to rationally restrict access to birth control. My own big idea is to simply put a condom dispenser in every public bathroom in the country and I’d make them free in public schools. Most would end up as water balloons but it’s a small price to pay for such a huge public health benefit.

Terry Randall is “DANGEROUS”, and should be treated that way.

When a person claims to be “PRO-LIFE”, but is for the “DEATH PENALTY”, they have a serious “DISCONNECT”, on LIFE.

Their motto is: “BRING THEM INTO THE WORLD, SO WE CAN KILL THEM.” There’s something wrong with that “PICTURE.”

There is something wrong with this picture. It’s completely missing an important piece of information.

Every preborn child who is aborted by its mother is completely innocence. Regardless of the reason for the abortion the preborn child – each one unique in the history of the world; has done nothing to deserve its fate.

To bit this seems to deny, “…the right to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness…”

This innocence is lacking in those who receive the death penalty as punishment for the crimes they have committed.

    Hope this helps you understand.
