Today, Political Wire posted a clip of an episode of Lou Dobbs’ radio show in which he not only questions President Obama’s citizenship and promotes the bizarre right-wing “birther” theory, but also insinuates that Obama might be undocumented:
DOBBS: I’m starting to think we have a document issue. You suppose he’s un — no, I won’t even use the word undocumented, it wouldn’t be right.
In an exchange with a caller, Dobbs agrees that Obama’s entire presidency and all his actions could be deemed “illegal.” Listen here:
President Obama has, in fact, presented a digitally scanned image of his birth certificate that includes a raised seal and the signature stamp of Hawaii state registrar, Alvin T. Onaka. While guest-hosting Lou Dobb’s own television show, CNN’s Kitty Pilgrim said there is “no basis” for the birther theory. Dobbs has called the document “peculiar” and continues demanding that Obama present a “long form” birth certificate to prove his citizenship. At least Dobbs isn’t calling anyone an “illegal alien” anymore.

The “long form” is your original birth certificate. You know, the one that is on file in the state you were born in. The birthers think that since Obama is not in possession of his original birth certificate, that he is trying to fool us. Except for the fact that NO ONE is in possession of their original birth certificate. If the state gave us our original birth certificate and we lost it, we would have no ability to prove where we were born much less the fact that we were ever even born.
The State of Hawaii has allowed the press to view President Obama’s original birth certificate including a right wing newspaper. The Director of Health has also issued a memo attesting to the validity of Obama’s birth certificate.

Wonder if Dobbs is “undocumented”? I really did at one time think that Lou Dobbs was an educated, intelligent human being, but in recent years he has thoroughly disappointed me. Does he not realize that none of us has our original birth certificate, we always have a copy of it with a raised seal we get from the Bureau of Vital Statistics of the jurisdiction in which we were born? Apparently Dobbs does not, therefore the same claim could be made of Mr. Dobbs! How do we truly know he is U.S. citizen? Right now he is just a hypocrite and a bigot!!

This quote is from the article gummble-bee-itch linked to and is a comment from an official in Hawaii. The key is the “all reasonable purposes”. The birthers don’t have “reasonable purposes” so NO document will satisfy them. They will never see the similarities between Obama’s birth to an American mother/Kenyan father in Hawaii and McCain’s birth to American parents in Panama, on a military base commanded by McCain’s grandfather. The birthers won’t question McCain’s birth because such does not meet their unreasonable purposes.

Except that Barack Obama wasn’t exactly born in a stadium. Back in 1961, it’s likely that the only people in the delivery room were his mother, the obstetrician, and most likely an obstetrics nurse or two.
Obama’s mother is dead. We don’t know about the medical staff, but unless they were all very young, chances are they’ve passed on as well.
How about the rest of Obama’s family? Father? Dead. Grandfather? Dead. Grandmother? Dead. Sister? She was born after Barack was.
So just what kind of “eyewitness” are you expecting? The best you can hope for is somebody who might claim to have worked at that hospital in 1961 (and for whom that birth would have stood out from all others), or perhaps one of Ann Dunham’s university buddies from around that time. And you wouldn’t believe anything any of them might say anyway.

When somebody wants an official copy of a birth certificate, the state issues a “Certificate of Live Birth” — as was done in President Obama’s case.
I think Lou Dobbs’ credibility (and the credibility of all the other birthers) would be enhanced if he obtained his own original “long form” birth certificate and waved it around. When he manages to do that, he might have a leg to stand on. Until then, he should just STFU.

Actually, I think it was CNN that had her dispute what Dobbs said. They knew that Dobbs would never admit that he was wrong or apologize so CNN had Pulgrim disavow what Dobbs said, on his own show no less, so that they (CNN) can disassociate themselves from Dobb’s wild claims.

You can print a copy of it and all the necessary documentation. The question of long form is explained. FYI, I have never seen a long form of my birth certificate because that is not what the state provides.

Now for those who joined the Military you have to have your birth certificate along with other ID. My daughter joined the Military in 2001 as I had to order her birth certificate and the US Government accepted it with the seal. She served in both Iraq and Afghanstan with no problem from anyone. Dobbs and others should just tell the truth like Rush Limbaugh, Sessions and other racist Americans. It’s because Obama is African American and that isn’t suppose to happen in American. All the color lines broken in US History were for teams to WIN. Jackie Robinson was used to win. Bear Bryant used blacks to win. Through the campaign as well as now, Obama never stooped or stoops to this level of silliness. I write that, because I do believe that’s why we don’t see him waste his time addressing these kinds of accusations. To think that CNN allows this man to spew conspiracy theories, as well as demonizing the latino people as he does is beyond me. He really should move over to FoxNews.
