Huckabee To Broadcast His Fox News Show From An Israeli Settlement

hikind-huckabee1Israel’s Haaretz reports that “former U.S. presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee plans to broadcast his weekend show on Fox News” from a settlement construction site in East Jerusalem:

New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind said Huckabee will air the talkshow during a solidarity visit to the site of the project, which is in the Palestinian neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.

Hikind, who is active in right-wing Jewish causes, told Haaretz that dozens of U.S. activists will participate in the mission, in order to express their support for the project and the man behind it, Irving Moskowitz.

Hikind is a former follower of Meir Kahane, a Jewish extremist who was assassinated in 1990. Two Kahanist organizations, Kach and Kahane Chai, are on the U.S. State Department’s list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations.

Irving Moskowitz is a Florida-based gambling magnate who funds right-wing pro-Israel organizations in the United States and radical Israeli settler groups and settlement projects in the occupied territories, like the one in Sheikh Jarrah. Moskowitz is also a longtime funder of conservative think tanks like the Hudson Institute, the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs, and the Center for Security Policy (CSP).

Huckabee has been an outspoken supporter of Israeli settlements — and opponent of a two-state solution. Last July, Huckabee told World Net Daily that “the two-state solution is no solution, but will cause only problems. … The Palestinians can create their homeland in many other places in the Middle East, outside Israel.”

Update A source now tells me that Fox News has denied the Haaretz story, and that there are no plans to do 'Huckabee' from East Jerusalem.
Update Huckabee did end up traveling to Israel.

Hopefully he remembers the ninth commandment(thou shall not bear false witness(lie)) while in Jerusalem.

  13. Gregor Samsa says:

I am still puzzled by the close identification between the conservative movement in the US and Israel -which is what makes this rumor credible.

Weirder still considering fundamentalist Christians (the Republican base) are essentially anti-Semite.

“The Palestinians can create their homeland in many other places in the Middle East, outside Israel.”

Israel is a state created in the middle of Palestine some 60 years or so ago by Zionists who also considered setting up their Jewish state in locations including South America, and who finally selected Palestine – with some help from England and the US, mind you. To suggest that the Palestinians, who have living in the area for thousands of years, should ‘find someplace else to live’ is a transcendent insult. The least we can hope for is a two state solution, let everyone cool down for a few generations. In my mind Huckabee’s comments are about as ignorant as they come.

  15. okie dokie says:

Huckabee’s comprehension of Israel is probably limited to Fidler on the Roof.

  17. spencers mom says:

Gregor, it’s not that the Fundies give a shit about Jews or Israelis, it’s all about End Times! Jerusalem cannot be divided or else Jesus won’t show up again, so the Fundies will do and say and fund anything that reunites Israel and brings back Big J.

Of course, according to Fundie dogma, the Jews who didn’t accept Christ will all die, but I don’t think they emphasize that when they send their suport checks.

    PEACE

    Bully for Huckabee!

  19. Incars says:

When they find out Huckabee wants to convert them to Jeebus….that could be a problem.

  20. tarazan says:

Huckabee is doing this, just like many others at Fox, to please his new boss media mogul Rupert Murdoch who is one of Israel’s most zealot supporters, and to please also the extreme religious Right,in preparation for his 2012 run.

Since I do not watch Fox anymore, and never did in years,Huckabee’s act shall have no big effect on me.

    Gregor Samsa and spencers mom,
The day the Republicans wrapped the Bible in red, white and blue, it was trouble.
I wonder if the Republicans hijacked the fundamentalists or the fundamentalists hijacked the Republican Party. They are a demented bunch.
The religious right appears to be trying to force biblical prophecy, but in some circles this would be viewed as forcing the hand of God. Not a real cool thing to do.

    humbly, flight

Authorities arrested Aaron Bruns in February after investigators said he had been sharing pornography on a social networking Web site. Bruns pleaded guilty in May to possession of child pornography.

On Thursday, July 17, former National Public Radio science editor David Malakoff pleaded guilty to downloading videos of young children being raped, but was not sentenced to spend any time in prison.
    ———-
Well, damn! You don’t get prison time for child rape porn?
But, if you have a pound of pot in your closet…

that’s the scary thing about him. He comes across as a likeable, even reasonable guy, but the positions he holds…

When will Mr. Huckabee make up his mind? Is he going to be a preacher or a comedian?
