Matt Finkelstein at Media Matters Action notes that Rep. Bill Posey’s (R-FL) “birther bill” has gained its 10th Republican cosponsor: Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX). “Notably, Rep. Gohmert hasn’t issued a press release announcing his sponsorship, so it seems he doesn’t want to advertise his move toward the fringe,” Finkelstein adds. Gohmert seems to be a fan of Obama conspiracy theories and recently went on the radio show of conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. RNC chairman Michael Steele released a statement today saying that the birther movement is an “unnecessary distraction.”
What a slimebag…
Typical repiggie…
July 29th, 2009 at 4:32 pmThe more the merrier. As each Republiklan joins this bandwagon, the time of their party’s total implosion draws ever nearer.
July 29th, 2009 at 4:35 pmThe US state I was born gave me a regular short form birth certificate, just like the rest of my brothers and sisters got.
:|
Does that mean we’re illegal aliens?
July 29th, 2009 at 4:38 pmROFLMAO! I still LOVE the way Abercrombie did this endrun behind the connie/birthers. So subtle and slick.
July 29th, 2009 at 4:40 pmI’ve been using it now for about 50 years for things like Passports, drivers licenses, etc.
In fact, everyone in line in front of me at the DMV applying for a license also had regular “short form” birth certificates.
:|
DMV must be slipping.
July 29th, 2009 at 4:40 pmBirthers, the new McCarthyists.
This isn’t about a birth certificate.
This is about a Black man being POTUS.
Anything else is just Beckisms.
July 29th, 2009 at 4:42 pm#5 — I was born in 1950 and recently needed a copy of my birth certificate. I asked my lawyer in Wisconsin to get me a copy. The County Courthouse gave him a “Certificate of Vital Record.” The original document was a “Birth Certificate.” Apparently most government records agencies have transferred all of their records to electronic/computer based documents.
July 29th, 2009 at 4:43 pmIt has become painfully obvious that in order to resolve ANY of our nation’s woes, ALL Repiggies, at ALL LEVELS, need to be booted out of office.
July 29th, 2009 at 4:43 pmWow! Do you think the ‘Birthers’ will want to secede? They should go to texas. I’m sure Gov. perry would love to have them. (Psst. Don’t tell them Perry took stimulus money.)
July 29th, 2009 at 4:44 pmIf he wants to hide his induction into platinum membership in the laughing academy, going onto the Alex Jones freakshow probably isn’t a good way of keeping the secret. On the other hand, if you dropped the “h” and the “t”, Gohmert would have the perfect wingnut last name.
July 29th, 2009 at 4:44 pmIt’s all anyone gets from most states. In fact ask this idiot “Posey” to produce his and I’ll bet its a standard short form certificate.
:|
If the democrats had any courage whatsoever, or even half a ball between them, they’d censure this guy and anyone supporting this SLANDER against the President.
July 29th, 2009 at 4:49 pmThis – after the House voted unanimously that Obama was born in Hawaii!!! Gohmert is just another tool who will do anything to appease his wingnut base. These Repnuttycans are just too idiotic!
July 29th, 2009 at 4:49 pmWow, these Repubs just look more stupid, ignorant, & racist every day. No matter how many times it’s proved, they simply don’t care. But thank God they continue to destroy the Repub party with their lying, racist, childish antics. These are NOT intelligent adults.
July 29th, 2009 at 4:51 pmIs there some reason why, out of the 10 co-sponsors, SIX of them are from Texas???
July 29th, 2009 at 4:54 pmOK. Let’s make it mandatory – every politician, currently serving in the House and Senate, along with the POTUS, must present their Birth Certificate.
Now.
[This sort of diversionary tactic is appalling - it serves the rethugs so well on multiple fronts...stalls work on healthcare...distracts from real issues and deficiencies in Rethug plans....riles up the tea-baggers...casts doubt into the simpleminded Beck acolytes...allows the Rethugs a thinly veiled outlet for their racism. Just fricking appalling.]
July 29th, 2009 at 4:57 pmIf the GOP wants to cater to their right-wing, batsh!t, lunatic base, let them.
The sane members of the party will move farther and farther to the left, leaving the GOP to disappear into ignominious oblivion.
July 29th, 2009 at 4:57 pmSo it’s quiet desperation, now, is it?

Let’s be fair — the vote was only 378 to zero (or something like that; I may have the exact number wrong, and I’m too lazy and tired to look it up).
Which means there were over fifty representatives not voting. I’m sure many of those had legitimate reasons not to be there, but I’m just as sure some scurried off like cockroaches to avoid committing on the birther issue.

I believe you answered your own question…sadly.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:02 pmWTF is going on with our elected idiots? Either side, I don’t care, most of them are totally devoid of any potential for qualifying as sentient beings! Is this all really about our having a bi-racial President and hidden bigotry? Some of it must be, but more is just plain stupidity. Blue (balls) Dog Democrats and a whole lot of Republikans are right up there with the 1940’s KKK folks in totally refusing to accept reality.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:03 pmDear God! What a farce. These Repugs want it all don’t they? They want to satify the fringe. But they don’t want to appear bat-sh*t either. But the Repugs don’t have to worry about that do they? ‘Birther’s’ don’t appear very bright, and I don’t believe thet read newspapers either (if they can read, that is.)
July 29th, 2009 at 5:04 pmPLC @ 21 – absolutely, every single last one of them.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:05 pm(R)Michael Scanlon … explained the strategy in an e-mail to a client. “Simply put, we want to bring out the wackos to vote against something and make sure the rest of the public lets the whole thing slip past them,” he wrote. “The wackos get their information [from] the Christian right, Christian radio, e-mail, the internet and telephone trees.”
Well, that pretty much explains all this conspiracy nuttiness.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:09 pmOh noes, the ebil telephone trees are whispering conspiracies into the bases hive mind
July 29th, 2009 at 5:15 pmI’m absolutely in agreement with this board but why – if it is on file -not just show it and get this distraction out of the way. I know, it is the principle here but i’m ready to be done with it. The health director says he saw it so it must still be on file. Just show the friggin’ thing.
Really, I voted for Obama and I’m with him 100%. So let’s get this over.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:17 pmRNC chairman Michael Steele released a statement today saying that the birther movement is an “unnecessary distraction.
UNNECESSARY!!! Are You Kidding???
Don’t give up NOW…You’ve got them on the RUN.
Someone in Kenya heard Some Relative of Obama’s Say ” Obama was born In KENYA” (or what ever the Kenyan translation is for that) …SO How could Obama have been born In Hawaii??? No Way!
And everyone KNOWS how easy it is to Hack the Internets..to produce a FAKE Document.
I say that Every Republican Candidate should be asked about This Over and Over and Over…
July 29th, 2009 at 5:17 pmI’d say it’s appropriate that we can find “Gomer” in this doosh’s name, but I wouldn’t want to disrespect Gomer Pyle.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:18 pmWhy should President Obama have to produce anything other than the same birth certificate that any other public official has to show?
Huh?
Why?
Because he’s black?

Are we done now?
July 29th, 2009 at 5:20 pmHe’s talking about the long form Zooey. The one they fill out at birth and keep at the Dept of Health.
The problem is no other American has ever been asked to petition the DOH of their state to produce the long form on file. Every other American gets the birth certificate the DOH sends them, just like President Obama did.
But because a few white republicans invent a lie, now suddenly President Obama has to do something that no other American has to do.
No doubt due to his being black.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:25 pmwow
I meet a lot of these wackos when I’m riding my motorcycle out in the mountains.
They’ll have the most ridiculous stickers on their helmets, buying into every wackadoodle right wing conspiracy theory they hear.
They will believe anything negative said about “libruls”, because, well, they are pretty stupid.

Yeah, if they keep saying it’s all about the birth certificate, they don’t have to admit to themselves that they’re every bit as racist as the KKK.
It doesn’t matter what form of the BC Obama produces, there will always be something else they want.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:28 pmI have unofficially been using my mothers maiden name since I was 13. A few years ago, I legally changed my name to match at the courthouse. I was provided with a “short form” birth certificate with my last name adjusted to match. I was able to get a passport, and pass and FBI background check with that document. I am unsure what the “birthers” hope to find.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:28 pmWell, for the ten millionth time, because;
A. They don’t give out the long form. That’s for the DOH to keep on file.
B. Because he already has produced the same birth certificate that any other American has to produce. The one issued by the Dept of Health for the individual.
C. Because liars and fools claim he hasn’t shown a birth certificate, yet he has. And he’s under no more obligation than any other American, thus the liars and fools (like you) can kiss his Presidential black ass.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:28 pmIt is designed to help expose how looney the right is. Seems to be working.

July 29th, 2009 at 5:32 pmWhy should Obama have to PROVE he was born here? To satify the ‘Birther’s? Get a clue Sherlock! Nothing will satify these people! You could put his birth certificate on a billboard and they will claim it’s a fraud. This is a way to hide their racism, pure and simple.

And you and your fact-denier cronies would still find something to whine about. You’d call it a fake, a forgery, demand proof that it’s a real birth certificate, demand proof that the doctor’s signature is legitimate, demand eyewitness testimony from the signing doctor, you name it.
Don’t you get it? It will NEVER BE ENOUGH for you idiots. Giving out the original birth certificate will only make it worse.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:34 pmExactly.
He’s already produced his birth certificate, just like you or I have to for identification.
He’s produced the same certificate any US citizen produces, i.e the one issued to them by the Dept of Health (or whatever issuing agency for the state one resides in) and that’s the end of it.
For the press to take the republicans lies seriously shows that the press reporters we have today are nothing but mindless twits that can barely conjugate a verb. If they would simply report the fact that President Obama’s birth certificate is publicly available on the inter-webs, then this matter would die.
But instead, they do the “two sides” bullshit.
You know.
“Democrats claim President Obama has shown his birth certificate, however republicans challenge that… and claim he has not”.
That sort of “he said she said” reporting is all we have left, because the kids graduating with journalism degrees are mindless twits who don’t know that you are supposed to first research a story, and then present the facts.

July 29th, 2009 at 5:37 pmIt would all be amusing if it wasn’t working. All the wacko theories they throw out in the fashion of Karl Rove chip away at President Obama’s favorability. Just like saying he’s racist and that he wants to kill off old people. Intelligent people know it’s nonsense but there are too many dimwitted Americans and they are going to rule this country.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:41 pmSo this single mother planned this conspiracy forty eight years ago, including the birth announcements in two newspapers, the vital statistics, etc. She knew back then that she would need all the information the birthers are questioning. She wouldn’t be concerned about trying to raise a boy by herself, etc. These people should be locked up to protect them from themselves. Crazy people in our midst.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:41 pmAren’t you late for a teabagging?
July 29th, 2009 at 5:41 pmSee?
Mindless twits like this are the stuff reporters are made of today.
This fool actually thinks that half a century ago a Hawaiian newspaper conspired with President Obama’s parents, the Hospital and the Dept of Health, to print a tiny announcement int he newspaper so half a century later he could run for President.
This mindless twit, is calling the Hawaiian Department of Health liars, and he’s calling the US Secret Service, incompetent (or corrupt and complicit in this themselves).
Don’t ever let the right wing garbage like this call any liberal a “moonbat” again, because this conspiracy theory they’re pushing is the mother of all moonbat theories.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:42 pmno dumbass, it was never a plan of the left but there it is, why not exploit it for what it is? Thanks.

Well, it doesn’t help when Lou Dobbs–”journalist extraordinaire”–keeps bringing doubt onto the table and the MSM’s bigwigs refuse to act out of fear that they’d lose viewership.
Call it the “truck-accident” viewership, but controversy sells. Sometimes the one who stokes the fire gets burned (Don Imus), and sometimes they get off lightly (Glenn Beck).
July 29th, 2009 at 5:44 pmI’m hoping that this is all just an elaborate publicity stunt for a new movie, “Dumbness.” It’s about a mysterious epidemic of stupidity that sweeps across the country. Julianne Moore plays a courageous woman who pretends to be stupid so that she can help lead the stupid into the light and out of the dumbness. I smell Oscar.
Otherwise, I think it’s time I started pricing real estate in Canada.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:44 pmAnyone who’s ever filled out an SF86 knows what’s involved in a clearance. Just for a basic “Secret” clearance the investigation is immense, and can take over a year to complete.
President Obama has one of the highest clearances there is, so for anyone to assume the Secret Service overlooked his birth certificate is laughable.
They don’t know what they’re talking about.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:46 pmI remember how painful peer pressure was when I started junior high school. All the little cliques and bullies trying to make you conform to their thinking or do things against your best interest.
It didn’t take very long to figure out that letting someone else control your beliefs would lead to total loss of self. And fortunately free thought was cool in the late 60’s, even in junior high.
I’m sorry Representatives Posey and Gohmert and their little clique are unable to function as intelligent individuals.
What an opportunity they have, to help legislate a healthcare program that would improve health and quality of life for so many. What an honorable, historical achievement.
…..
July 29th, 2009 at 5:47 pmNow what did you say that was he’s signing?
The right is winning because the left won’t take to the streets to defend ourselves. We proved that when we let W take the throne in 2000 and we’re proving it now by letting these racist pigs denigrate the man who WAS duly elected President. We HAVE to stand up for ourselves because the media won’t.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:53 pmOT – sorry – I am angry.
July 29th, 2009 at 5:59 pmSen. Ben Nelson has now said that he’s not sure he will vote for Judge Sotomayor… he needs to be convinced.
I am sick and tired of the so-called Democrats who are repugniscum in disguise. I called his Nebraska office and the young man told me I was not a Nebraskan, so he wasn’t going to report my call — I told him I would send money to Nelson’s opponent, among other things.
I then called his D.C. office with the same message: get on baord with the people, with the president, and with what is good for the American public, instead of collecting $$ from donors who want you to advocate for their personal agenda.
Gohmert is behind the eight ball here — the GOP is beginning to come down on the “birthers” because it has done them a lot of harm regarding credibility, in its appeal to the lowest common denominator.

There’s a better way to deal with the birthers. We need to require that one’s original birth certificate, and all official copies, be submitted to the ATF in order to purchase guns and/or ammo.
July 29th, 2009 at 6:26 pmBy the way…the same crew that sponsors & funds this website fund the Heritage foundation…and all the rest of the “Think Tank” websites…These guys are just PNACers in disguise. Podesta is just the other side of the Bill Kristol coin. Dig in and do some research…
July 29th, 2009 at 6:29 pmBecause – and it ought to be obvious on its face – he was born of a Kenyan father. The granny that said that was a step-granny. And birth and death certificates do have more information. Yes, it is a mess. I agree that it shouldn’t have to be shown. I said that I agree with most of the comments.
The right will keep the distraction up. Is it worth it? When do you put down the rope, provide your proof, get it out of the way, and move on?
Someone has to be the adult in the room.
July 29th, 2009 at 6:34 pmThe Dallas (yes, that Dallas) Morning News ran an editorial last week which had a copy of an Hawaii newspaper announcement of the President’s birth. The editorial went on to blast those (including my Rep.) who are wasting time and effort with this birthers garbage.
July 29th, 2009 at 6:36 pmNot all true, jmh423.
Obama has secured more cooperation from Pakistan, ceased offensive action in Iraq and, just today, it was announced that another 5,000 U.S. troops will leave Iraq early. Plus, while his numbers are less strong with those we occupy, President Obama has much more support from the international community. According to Pew Reasearch, when foreign citizens are asked if they trust the President, Obama is in the high 60% range while Bush was in the low 30% range. That makes a tremendous difference to what he can accomplish and how quickly he can accomplish it. I might add that his numbers at home are similar and can also serve to speed things up.
And I don’t believe there are any responsible approaches to withdrawing “all our troops from the Gulf” within a year. In fact, Iraqi officials would be the first, and loudest, to protest such an action.
It’s a great crime that Chimpy perpetrated in Iraq but it would be a greater crime to abandon them to their own devices. I certainly wouldn’t relish the idea of leaving them without an air force in a dangerous world. There was a great deal of truth to Powell’s pronouncement of “you broke it, you bought it”, and we own Iraq for the indefinite future.
July 29th, 2009 at 6:37 pmI guess I am the only one who relishes this bat shit craziness. The birthers are the same ignorant rubes that believe the earth is 6,000 years old. Just as I don’t think the 6k’ers are going to win any new converts, I don’t think the birthers are making any new friends either.
The whole story is like dragging a dead fish around the yard to flush out the cockroaches. The fact that they all come scurrying out from under their rocks doesn’t mean that there are more of them, just that they come out of hiding and are identified.
Seriously, when these dingbat Repugs give credence to the birther notion, don’t you think rational people will remember that when it comes time to vote?
July 29th, 2009 at 6:46 pmThe proof has been provided, original joanie.
His official birth certificate has been provided to: the Department of State (for his passport), the various DMVs where he’s held drivers licenses, relevant Illinois election officials, bank officials, the FEC, the various Departments that have given him security clearance, Snopes, FactCheck.org, other news sources, and a few courts.
July 29th, 2009 at 6:46 pmI’m with you nanlichi.
I don’t believe most Republicans see this “Birther” uprising as anything but Harmful and a Distraction.
They would just as soon NOT have to call the birthers WRONG , much less Idiots…but if this keeps building in the press…that’s exactly what they will have to do.
BTW…my post at #29 was a total Snark.
July 29th, 2009 at 6:56 pmPete, you’re not getting my point. You can say that until the cows come home and beyond – which is what is happening – but it doesn’t solve the problem.
You’re response is denial. That achieves nothing.
Nanlichi, I actually responded similarly to a friend on the right with whom I email. At first I thought this would serve us in the long run because it does point to the craziness of these extremists. But messaging works. If it goes on long enough, it takes over the conversation.
July 29th, 2009 at 7:00 pmoriginal joanie, I believe you’re the one who misses my point. There is no other official birth certificate and there is no additional official body to whom it may be submitted. And that includes the U.S. Supreme Court.
I suppose that the entire House and/or Senate could fly to Hawaii with a request for information from President Obama but, failing that, I have no idea who else the birth certificate could be provided to.

How can a man become a state senator, US senator, and President of the US, go through all the security checks without being a citizen? You need to get some help.
July 29th, 2009 at 7:16 pmIt might be even worse than JANINE fears. There are unconfirmed reports that President Obama is not a Methodist, Baptist, or Lutheran. And, worst of all, there’s a rumor that he’s (gulp!) not entirely Caucasian!

Holy cow, lady. No need to scream. Can I just point out a couple of things?
Nobody here is arguing against the constitution, and most of the people who post here are every bit as patriotic as anybody else. One can be patriotic and still believe that President Obama is a natural born citizen.
A “major story”? Not at all. Nor it is a scandal. It’s gotten some press mostly from media who find the situation bizarrely entertaining.
A “huge cover-up”? Put down the kool-aid and think about this one. It’s not just the media who would have to have been in on this, but the Governor of Hawaii (who’s a Republican), the FBI, CIA, and Secret Service (all of whom were serving under George W. Bush at the time Obama became a candidate), and Chief Justice Roberts, who swore Obama into office (a man of conservative leanings appointed by a Republican). Do you REALLY think all these people would be in on this kind of “cover-up”? And do you really think Hillary Clinton wouldn’t have pounced on this if there was even the slightest chance Obama wasn’t legit?
And if you buy the “cover-up” story, then you also have to believe that somebody planted Obama’s birth announcement in the Hawaii paper back in 1961. You know — just in case he ever wanted to run for President when he grew up.
And then you get to the point where you appear to be frothing at the mouth. You call for impeachment and imprisonment of everybody who is “in” on this supposed hoax. Do you realize that the House of Representatives just unanimously affirmed that Obama was born in Hawaii, as his birth certificate says? You want to impeach every one of them? How about Roberts, who administered Obama’s oath of office? You want to impeach him, too? You can boycott the media if you like, but since virtually every broadcast outlet and print medium has acknowledged that Barack Obama is POTUS, you’ll be reading a lot of books and wingnut blogsites, since that’s what you’ll be limited to.
Your assertion that Obama is some kind of “usurper” who has come into this country to “take control” of our people is just whacko. When did he enter this country to usurp? Except for about a four year period between the ages of six to ten, when he lived in Indonesia, he’s always lived in the United States. Did he start his dastardly mission of trying to take control of us at the tender age of 10?
And then you kind of derail into a bunch of truly baffling stuff about defending the constitution, corrupt judges, and crooked benches. I’m assuming you want all these judges removed and replaced with judges who share your lunacy.
By the way, you talk about the Bill of Rights, but the part about the President being a “natural-born” citizen of the United States isn’t in the Bill of Rights. I have a feeling you’re just randomly flinging jingoism without any thought to how much sense it makes.
But you provided me with a good laugh. I really didn’t know there was anybody quite as deluded as you out there.

Yeah, I gave her a “vote up” to keep her from getting flushed. This post is destined to be a classic. It would be interesting to ask the other trolls how much they agree with her.
July 29th, 2009 at 8:06 pmI saved a copy of JANINE’s rant, misscoleopteramolly. I don’t know when I’ve seen so much wrongheaded paranoia in one post. The all caps was just the icing.
July 29th, 2009 at 8:17 pmI really like the part about USURPERS. That is a good hangman word. “Twelve” is also. No one ever gets that.

Where do I even begin with that mess above?
First, the “I’m a lifelong Democrat until —-” thing is getting real old. I think that most of the trolls on this site have used it.
Second, you are mistaking the Fascist party. The Republicans are by definition further right than the Democrats, and Fascism is a right-wing thing. You are right in that we have been drifting towards a Fascist state, but you fail to blame the real culprits.
Third, people like me have realized just how far to the right we as a nation have gone, and enouigh of us don’t like it. That is why I voted for Obama in the last election instead of McCain. It seems that 53% of Americans agreed with me. By definition, Obama is our President whether you like him or not.
Fourth, I don’t think the people here are Obama-bots. I’ve seen plenty of evidence on this site from the regulars that Obama isn’t left enough. I certainly do not support everything Obama has done, but if I am to hold out for a candidate that chooses all of my views, I would likely die a lonely death waiting.
It’s time to put the whole Birther thing to bed. It’s getting stale, and the more it is peddled the more idiots will buy it. It only takes one moron with a clear shot and this nation will be in serious trouble.
July 29th, 2009 at 8:58 pmJANINE:
July 29th, 2009 at 9:06 pmwould you mind just bulleting the major points. Thanks so much. Do you enjoy bingo? I sure do. Sometimes when the caller calls B-42 I sometimes shout out “You sunk my battleship” just like Abe…
actually come to think of it that wasn’t abe that was that other handsome gent. Either way…
July 29th, 2009 at 9:07 pmPete, there IS another document on file unless you think the health director in Hawaii is lying.
“I, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the Hawai’i State Department of Health, have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawai’i State Department of Health verifying Barrack Hussein Obama was born in Hawai’i and is a natural-born American citizen…”
Now, you can defend yourself up the yin yan. I don’t care. I’m done. Passing it back to you for the last word.
July 29th, 2009 at 9:20 pmIs the last word “eco-jewelry” or is that one point five words…
July 29th, 2009 at 9:38 pmI want to see it for myself. Why should I assume Dr. Chiyome Fukino is telling me the truth? Why?
I won’t assume any damn thing with the government except that they are probably lying .. regardless of topic. This simple fact has been proven over and over and over again. Whether Bush or Obama. Same thing. Same owners. Same plethora of lies.
So, I want to see it for myself.
That is NOT to much to ask.
Dr. Richard Welser, Forensic Neuropsychologist
July 29th, 2009 at 9:44 pmAnd I keep getting this creepy feeling that the government has been putting stuff in my food to control my thoughts…
July 29th, 2009 at 9:45 pmWell, Dr. Wesler. I would suggest writing the President for permission to view the document and fly out to Hawaii and assuage your doubts.
July 29th, 2009 at 10:10 pmReading JANINE’s post is like the beginning of a Star Wars movie…..
July 29th, 2009 at 10:15 pmWhile you’re at it, you might as well demand the birth certificate of all those Republican Representatives that voted to proclaim Hawaii the birthplace of President Obama. I can’t imagine any “real” American would have done such a thing.

July 29th, 2009 at 10:27 pmChrist, Janine, where the hell were you when Bush was trashing the Constitution?

OK, this removes all doubt — JANINE is a performance artist. She must be new at it, though. To be really good, it has to have at least some hint of plausibility, and JANINE is still “way out there” to the point it could be nothing but a spoof.
But give her a chance. She may come to rival Daryll/RaptureReady/looktothehills someday.
July 29th, 2009 at 11:23 pmHmmm, maybe I should start signing my comments “Dr. Jane E. Schneider, Theoretical Physicist” or something equally pompous.
And isn’t it cute how JANINE thinks we’re all “youngsters”? That’s so sweet.
July 30th, 2009 at 12:36 amI like that idea
Dr dbadass Piscatory Surgeon
July 30th, 2009 at 12:41 amBecause he’s not at the heart of the issue. I’m new to blogging here but I respect this site. Have read it for along time without commenting or reading them.
Frankly, you sound like the rightwingers on their blogs. Or at least the one’s I take on.
I expected more reason on this blog and less emotion, sarcasm and put downs.

I want to see your original birth certificate. And your medical diploma.
Have you felt this way about EVERY president in your lifetime, or for only the black president?
July 30th, 2009 at 1:05 amBTW, it’s been my experience that those who have the most trouble trusting others are usually quite untrustworthy themselves.
Dr. Fukino isn’t going to put his reputation on this line for something as stupid as this.
July 30th, 2009 at 1:08 amI think it’s cute that Janine can read OUR comments, even thought they’re not written in all caps.
July 30th, 2009 at 1:09 amWell, I see Zooey is our resident know-it-all. Exactly. And that is what would put an end to all of this.
Now do you get it?
Hmm, Zoo-ey?
July 30th, 2009 at 1:54 amThat felt good!
July 30th, 2009 at 1:59 amWell, since I worked with an attorney who did adoptions and dealt with many states regarding their vital records processes AND used to be a court clerk, I’d say I have some knowledge.
No, original joanie, it would NOT put an end to anything. Birthers are racists, and nothing President Obama ever produces will convince them. NOTHING.
Now do you get it? Hmmmm?
July 30th, 2009 at 2:01 amWell, original joanie. I was expecting more reason and less emotion, sarcasm and put downs from you.

I’ll give you that little victory. You obviously need it.
July 30th, 2009 at 2:07 amFunny,
I only hear Alex Jones putting together mainstream news, leaked and verified or declassified documents like Operation Northwoods, and the books written by the people in question, like science “czar” Holdren’s Ecoscience: Population,Resources,Environment outlining means of reducing population.
His “theories” of 9.11, if you must call them that, are far more credible than the one we’re told to believe, especially since it’s proven false MANY times over, and since Kean and Hamilton themselves wrote in their NYT op-ed that they were obstructed & “set up to fail” it seems it’s this site that is the agenda-driven propaganda threatening our system of govt.
Hey Joiners afraid to look silly: look down from the Democratic bandwagon and see that it’s an illusion. Jones is not a Republican. He’s not funded by the military industrial complex or Eugenicist foundations (see Rockefellers).
seriously: Wake up: You’re a victim too.
July 30th, 2009 at 2:18 amMe, too, Bob.
Victory? I’ll take it.
July 30th, 2009 at 2:41 amZooey, wars are fought one battle at a time. We’re at war with the extreme rightwing zealots. Put the BC thing to rest. Then meet them on the new front.
As long as we make it easy for them to keep this one up, they are gaining support. If we show them to be the idiots they are, one step at a time, those people who who are easily influenced will eventually stop listening to them. Rightwing media is a powerful propaganda tool. And they are gaining one representative at a time which lends credence to the notion for those people who think if their representatives believe it, maybe there’s something to it. It becomes insidious. We must face it and stop calling them stupid.
All right, they are stupid. But they are also influential. Stop it before it corrupts the entire system.
Show the damn thing.
July 30th, 2009 at 2:50 amGood night then.
By the way, after this is resolved are we going back to how Justice Roberts screwed up the oath and Obama’s not legally President?
I just want to be ready.
July 30th, 2009 at 2:54 amFunny I should attract the attention of you two:
Bob, I am a resident smart-mouth on a blog called Blatherwatch and I called myself joaniehusseinforobama before the election. I, too, took on the Hussein name out of respect for Obama. It is a radio blog but we talk politics much of the time. Not a blog like this which I expected to be primarily intellectual due to my respect for Faz (?) Shakir whom I heard on Peter B when his show was on the air.
And Zooey, I’m a thirty-year retiree of municipal court in Seattle. So while I didn’t deal much with vital stats, I certainly did deal with attorneys and other court affairs.
I’m very concerned about the state of our union. I don’t know what to do about it. But something must be done.

Still a moron I see. He has SHOWN his birth certificate, at least Hawaii’s version of it. He has no obligation to jump through hoops to satisfy morons like you that will NEVER be satisfied with anything. He was born in Hawaii. That is already proven. Nothing more needs to be done. Feel free to throw all the tantrums you want, hold your breath, snivel till the seas dry up no one with any sense cares about you nutbags.
July 30th, 2009 at 7:58 amjmh423
When will morons like YOU wake up and realize you are being used by rightwing screechmonkeys? They program you with massive stupidity and you proudly parade your ignorance. Sane people laugh at how stupid you are. You are like a chatty Kathy doll. They wind you up and you repeat what you are told to believe. You are sad and pathetic. WAKE UP MORON.

NO. Enough proof has been given. Obama is under NO obligation to jump through hoops for these morons. If he did they still wouldnt be satisfied. Prolonging it and pretending the fake controversy is DESERVING of more evidence or is in any way legitimate would be a mistake. They can all go jump off a cliff. The proper response at this point to any birther is derisive laughter from me, from YOU, from Obama.
July 30th, 2009 at 8:11 amThen change your name, Eugene, because you are not a problem solver but a problem maker. That gets nothing done. Debs would never have gotten stuck in inconsequential conflicts. He meant business.

July 30th, 2009 at 3:05 am
We’ve all been concerned about the state of this union since the 1980s. What does that have to do with BO’s birth certificate?
July 30th, 2009 at 1:54 pmIt should be disconcerting that this “birther” movement is not losing merit, but on the contrary, is becoming an ever more widely discussed issue — and starting to be taken seriously by more and more Americans. In light of recent developments cases like the recent Cook case and Keyes v Obama in CA, the issues has quickly been thrust into the forefront. Now there are numerous military (including Generals, high ranking officers, active duty, etc) openly calling for verification of BO’s legitimacy. Many state and even federal lawmakers, and literally millions of US citizens asking for clarification not only of BO’s birth records, but his medical history, college transcripts, etc.
It appears this issue will soon reach a tipping point where Obama will have to adress the issue directly (so far he has not answered the question of why he has sealed his vital records directly to the people). If his favorability continues to decline, more and more people will become unwilling to just trust him on these issues. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, he produces or states about the matter when it comes time…

YOu are an IDIOT if you think showing the birthers ANYTHING would solve any problems. You are CLEARLY an idiot if you didnt get the POINT that it will not only string the problem out but make it WORSE by giving it legitimacy. Eugene Debs was smart enough to KNOW the difference between putting a fire out and tossing gasoline on it. YOU are not.
July 30th, 2009 at 7:41 pmYou know, Eugene and Zooey, you resemble the right extremists and name callers more than you do the progressives with whom I connect.
Good observations, Paul. Those are my thoughts as well. The cancer that is debilitating this body politic must be stopped at some point. We have much to lose if it doesn’t.
