This past weekend, the conservative blog RedState hosted its annual gathering. Featured speakers included Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt, former Congressman Pat Toomey, and Texas Governor (and secessionist sympathizer) Rick Perry. Among the most outrageous comments of the convention came from former Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Liz Cheney:
CHENEY: In order to survive as a nation, our President can’t function as a disinterested international arbitrator. He can’t attempt to stand above America and our enemies. In other words, America needs a commander in chief, not a global community organizer.
Watch it:
Cheney’s comments hark back to the 2008 Republican National Convention, where GOP Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin and former Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani openly mocked Obama’s past work as a community organizer. Erick Erickson, editor-in-chief of Redstate.com, writes that Cheney also said that President Obama “does not care for either pediatricians or policemen.”
America didn’t your WAR CRIMINAL father to ruin it either, stupid c-word.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:02 pmI like being told what to do and not asked. Don’t you…
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:03 pmOh, crap, typing while eating lunch..

August 3rd, 2009 at 4:03 pmThat vicious criminal terrorist skankho needs to STFU.

August 3rd, 2009 at 4:08 pmOnly answer to anything – shoot first and ask questions later.
Iraq……bang.
Good morning Mr. President….bang.
etc.
Only problem is that approach so bankrupted our economy, the world economy, and any good will we may have previously had and ended up as an Al Q recruiting tool as we ran roughshod over everyone else.
Come to think of it, this approach also describes how we approached nature.
Bighorn sheep….bang.
Polar Bear…..bang.
Fellow Quail hunter…..bang.
No wonder we’re in such trouble with the climate also.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:10 pmshe puts the first 4 out of 5 letters in the word country.
what a patriot.

August 3rd, 2009 at 4:11 pmLiz, you ignorant c*nt, STFU!
I don’t know whether Jesus Christ was the Son of God, but I do know that he was a community organizer.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:12 pm“Liz Cheney: ‘America needs a Commander-in-Chief, not a global community organizer.’”
Blah, blah, blah… Spare me. And this comment is coming from a daughter of a war criminal and war profiteer? Yeah, Liz, a global community organizer that had inherit the Sith Administration’s mess and that is getting things more done now in his 6 months in office is far better than the drunk, cokehead, draft dodger President that stole the Presidential election for 2 terms. And let’s not forget the 5 deferrment, draft dodger, and co-President Supreme Leader Dick.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:12 pmThe fruits of nepotism continue to ripen.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:12 pmI thought something smelled ripe.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:14 pmWhat exactly has Liz Cheney ever done, written, performed or accomplished that gives her the credibility to make sweeping pronouncements on foreign policy? Is it that her Daddy got her a phony desk job at the State Department? With whom has she negotiated agreements? Which countries and societies are her area of expertise? Any of them?
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:16 pmI know we also don’t need is a former vice presidents daughter shamelessly telling us the same kind of bullshit her father did.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:17 pmelections have consequences. americans saw what the last commanders-in-chief (dick and george) did for the nation and decided that being a bad-a$$ MFer might be good for TV ratings, it’s a pretty piss-poor foreign policy.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:17 pmWhy does anyone give anything this idiot has to say any press time whatsoever? What exactly has she done that should impress anyone for any reason?
She’s one of the least thoughtful people in a party that has become completely opposed to thought in any form. Even Palin actually accomplished something to warrant paying some attention to her. . . not much, admittedly, but something.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:18 pmLiz…”If you would elect my daddy, he would provide the leadership to govern the whole world…ooops”.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:18 pm“America needs a commander in chief, not a global community organizer.”

What an incredibly pompous comment — and it means nothing. Kind of like that comment about Hillary’s book, “It Takes a Village”, when some wingnut said, “it doesn’t take a village, it takes a FAMILY to raise a child.”
Of course, this was delivered as red meat, so it didn’t have to mean anything. But I gather the intention was two-fold:
1) It’s our job to find fault with anything the President does or says — even if we just make a comment that makes a vague suggestion of incompetence and doesn’t give any specifics supporting it.
2) We would much rather that the President just threaten to bomb anybody we don’t like instead of the somewhat sissy approach of employing diplomacy and building relationships.
And then there’s the part about Obama “function[ing] as a disinterested international arbitrator.” This is pretty funny, coming from the defender of a past president who didn’t even know there were other countries on the planet until he was told to bomb a couple of them.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:19 pm“does not care for either pediatricians or policemen.”
Y’know, I can sympathize with that. When I was a kid, i was in the car-sellin’ bidness, and was advised by a grizzled old thief who owned a lot on which I started to always pay special attention to folks who, on the credit app, listed a trade that began with “p.”
“They’re drinkers,” the old thief told me. “Painters, plasterers, plumbers, they’re all drinkers. Can’t trust ‘em.”
I can’t see, on the face of it, how pediatricians or policemen are deserving any different treatment.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:19 pmWell we really needed a commander and chief the 8 years and got mmmm not sure what we got but it dam sure wasnt good.

Um…she’s blonde, guys like looking at her legs…you know, pretty much the standard requirements for GOP females.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:21 pmLiz, she is getting more and more out of MSM these days. I see she doing the fringe birther chitlen circuit now.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:22 pmDidn’t her dad “have a few beers,” shoot his friend in the face, then send someone out to lie about it for him? The stink Cheney left in the WH will take years to clean out.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:26 pmLiz want’s to be Supreme Leader some day. She knows that will be hard in america without torture, assasinations, and control of the media, so she wants things to be like the good old days when her daddy ran America all by himself.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:27 pmLiz wants Darth Cheney back in office to save him from War Crime Charges. Now President Obama has worked 24/7 on the Recovery of the US Economy yet Cheney never showed up for the American people in the 8 years he was VP but he did show up for Halliburton, CIA Leak, illegal Iraq invasion and many many other crimes.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:27 pmLiz Cheney’s comments are typical, non-nonsensical, militarist, bluster. Please ignore her.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:28 pmSomeone needs to get her a new roll of Duct ape for that pie hole..
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:28 pmObviously Liz Cheney will be running for something in 2010 or 2012, she is probably shopping around for a Congressional district to run in right now. Her defense of her father has morphed into self promotion. Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:28 pmChanneling Colbert, this person is a fatherf cker.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:30 pmNo more Cheneys. A Cheney should be unsean, not heard.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:31 pmJust seeing her sneering mug makes me yell obscenities at the screen.
And here I thought I’d be able to watch ‘news’ in front of the youngsters again.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:31 pmNo Lizard…America needs war crimes trials…and your daddy 1st in the dock…
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:31 pmHmm, the loud-mouth daughter of one of the three dictators-of-America, who illigitemately (sic) ruled from the stolen election of 2000 to finally being tossed out in 11/08, says that we need another set of right-wing Republican dictators… Try the three lying war criminals: Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld.
P.S., Jesus was a community organizer, but don’t tell that to these Christo-fascists, because they don’t want to hear it…
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:32 pmor…unseen, also, too.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:32 pmLiz should run for elective office and see what happens. She will get the same treatment like Palin. The MSM will not cover for her stupidity and it will become apparent that her father’s PR people are writing her scripts.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:32 pmLiz fears the Global Community Organizer. Liz doesn’t want an organized global community! That would hamper her family’s ambitions.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:32 pmLiz Cheney saying
“Americans expect our president to defend us against lies, not to embrace or ignore them.”
My Jeopardy answer is:
What is hypocrisy?
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:33 pmI swear I’ve never seen in all my years a former Presidential cabinet and its FAMILY members openly criticize and sabotage a sitting pressident like this.
The Cheney’s are a classless act.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:34 pmWhen your dad’s an unindicted war criminal, this would just be an opening salvo, to confuse. Her statements about pediatricians could be broadly interpreted as an anti-abortion screed.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:36 pmThe Republicans are finished. There are supposedly five stages of remorse. Liz is stuck in the denial phase. The next phase is the anger phase, so look out…
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:37 pmThanks for letting us all know what WE need , daughter of the most devious , evil , dishonest and plain ill-mannered vice president in US history.
BTW Liz
Your dad was right-hand man to THE WORST PRESIDENT IN US HISTORY ; so your opinion really doesn’t mean all that much…….
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:42 pmDaughter rump thinks she can trample on a duly elected president out of frustration that she didn’t expect the public to sour on daddy, the most despised veep in history.
It’s an incredible measure of arrogance in the political arena, where the losers sidestep the voters’ will and constantly hound the new guard for not maintaining their failed idea of governance.
President Obama is ending the War for Halliburton and returning to the real threat. Good military advice in the Bush administration was left to a best-selling book or op-ed; this president is actually listening! Daddy surged the Taliban threat by cutting-and-running to waste American lives.
Barack H. Obama IS the Commander-in-Chief.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:43 pmAmerica needs Liz Cheney to keep her fat Repignican mouth shut…just like we needed her dad to do the same. Unfortunately that didn’t happen and look at the freaking mess we are in for it.

If she is looking for a safe winger congressional district to run for she better be willing to move further south or out to Dogpatch. Otherwise she is going to learn a hard lesson about how little affirmative action for the dumb rich gets you when the voters think your daddy is an a**hole.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:54 pmShe just wants to stay in the limelight because she wants to run for office.
Heaven help us.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:54 pmAnd we definitely need less of Liz Cheney’s mewling about what she thinks. So far it seems to be singularly lacking in any form of positive discourse. Who wants to hear someone who complains all the time?
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:58 pmTry again Tundra. Hillary, to her eternal shame, voted to authorize Bush to take action against (i.e. to invade) Iraq. Not exactly an attack on the president. If you think the Cheney father-daughter attacks on Obama during his first year in office compare to something Chelsea Clinton said on the campaign trail during the last eight months of Bush’s second term you aren’t paying attention.
August 3rd, 2009 at 4:59 pmHow dare any Cheney scold Obama for his diplomacy concerning the “brave Iranian men and women”.
You mean, the Iranians you wanted to bomb for their oil?
* * *
And speaking of disenfranchised voters:
Where’s was MY vote in 2000?

While I agree it’s wrong, the Clintons had no problem doing it to Bush. They are both wrong, it’s a crappy thing to do, however saying you never saw it is ignoring reality.
That’s a lie.
For the first four years of Bush’s presidency Bill Clinton barely uttered a word about him. Only after his SECOND term did anyone really mention him, and then it was mostly due to Hilary RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT HERSELF, where she had no choice but to mention him.
And I’ve NEVER heard Chelsea utter a word about Bush.
Ignorant liars try to equate the constant out of the gate sabotage that the Bush’s and the Cheney’s have launched against this President in his first few months of office to a few vague comments by the Clintons later in Bush’s SECOND term, for reasons so obvious one would have to be a fool not to see them.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:10 pmAnd that quote you posted from Chelsea was just a campaign speech for her mom, AFTER Bush ruined the world, AFTER Bush’s Presidency was over.
Not his first FEW MONTHS IN OFFICE.
Liars like you is why no one knows the truth anymore.
You take your “half truths” and sell them to the people as fact, and only those who take the time to actually research your lies know the difference.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:15 pmPresident Obama has been in office for a few short months and since that brief time the Cheney’s and the Bush’s have attacked and criticized this President and helped launch massive efforts to cripple him out of the gate.
This is unprecedented in our lifetimes, and it is a disgrace to our country.

Apples and oranges. When George W. Bush became President, Hillary had just been elected Senator from New York. She was far more focused on her new job than trashing the President, and had little to say about his performance until later. In fact, she even DEFENDED some of his post-9/11 decisions (such as voting to give him authority to take whatever action he deemed necessary to fight the GWOT) when other Democrats were openly concerned about Bush’s cowboy diplomacy.
And Bill? He pretty much took a hands-off approach until the wingnuts started claiming that 9/11 was all his fault. Then he spoke his mind.
There was really very little public criticism from either of the Clintons toward Bush until later into his term (and after he invaded Iraq).
Whereas the Cheneys and all their sycophants have been hammering on President Obama without letup from Day One.
There’s really no comparison.

She must wear edible shoes!
Has anyone told her that Jesus, Gandhi, and Dr. King were ALSO community organizers?
SCJ Holmes said three generations of idiots is enough. In the case of the Cheneys, two is over the limit.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:23 pmOh, did Jimmy Carter send his kids out in the months after Reagan won to denigrate him?
I don’t remember that…
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:24 pmWho let this delusional batshit crazy Darthette out of her coffin?
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:24 pmThere is a big difference between the Clintons voicing their opinion,
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:27 pmand Liz Cheney participating in a paid campaign of political obstruction.
Yeah, what we really want is another Machiavellian, “shoot first and to hell with the questions” knee-jerk reactionary making our foreign policy decisions.
Unlike the Cheneys, Obama does not believe peace and diplomacy are heinous concepts to be scorned when developing foreign policy.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:28 pmHey cancervative guy: name one accomplishment that your hero Chimpy McFlightsuit can put up next to Jimmy Carter brokering a peace agreement between Israel and Egypt that has lasted for three decades. Hint: having two American cities successfully attacked by terrorists on the same day doesn’t count; nor does standing around with his finger up his a$$ while another city is destroyed by the aftermath of a natural disaster; nor does bankrupting the country with a fraudulent war paired with a tax cut for millionaires.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:28 pmconservative guy
Show me a credible ranking that has Carter down as the “worst president ever.”
I’ll be waiting …
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:29 pmCarter didn’t speak up until years after Bush had dragged us into an illegal war, ruined the economy and trashed our Constitution.
And even then his criticism was limited.
Not to mention Carter is NOT CLINTON.
Dumb ass.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:29 pm#51 WAYNEBRO says:
If memory serves me correctly, Bill Clinton didn’t really remark on anything re: Bush, until he was kicked repeatedly by the wingers, until “Blame Clinton” became a mantra, and by a propaganda piece, a made for t.v. movie called Path to 9-11, then he kicked Wallace all over the map.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:30 pmPresident Obama hasn’t been President for even 1 year yet. He’s been in office for a few months and he didn’t even get a chance to break in Marine 1 before the Cheney’s and the Bush’s were out literally TRASHING him and organizing opposition to everything he does.
There is no excuse for their disgusting behavior and there is no excuse for sabotaging a new President right out of the gate like this.
These people hate America and Americans. They are actively working against our country and so are you.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:32 pmShe’s like Palin, ‘cept she’s ugly.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:33 pmWould be nice if the whole Cheney clan took a cruise and the ship sank to the bottom of the sea.

August 3rd, 2009 at 5:39 pmIf the Cheney’s were good Americans, and if the Bush’s were good Americans, and if the REPUBLICANS were good Americans, they’d be working WITH this President and giving him support, at least for the first few years of his Presidency.
ANYONE wanting America to succeed would do that.
Everyone gave Bush a chance. Democrats rallied around him in congress. The people rallied for him. Everyone stood behind George W Bush once the country was in trouble. Post 911 Bush enjoyed unfettered support across the board, with the country coming together as one to help this fledgling President succeed.
NO ONE on the right however has returned that support to President Obama, proving once and for all that the right wing does not care about America and are not good Americans.
We’re in two wars and struggling against economic collapse.
GOOD Americans would support this President.
Good Americans would give this President a chance.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:42 pmCarter is the most humane of ex-presidents. Not to mention, his administration saw 10 million jobs created.
Sorry for the O/T, but the job creation rate Cater vs. Reagan is the quickest way to corner the virulently anti-Carter trolls- they have no way to rebound!
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:44 pmCheney: “he can’t stand above America and our enemies ”
There’s that black/white, us verses them rhetoric again.
Can she even name one country that is clearly America’s enemy at the moment.

WAYNEBRO, liberals started trashing Bush the minute he was

August 3rd, 2009 at 5:52 pmReally troll?
Then how do you explain his 75 to 90 percent approval ratings?
Didn’t they poll liberals?
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:55 pmspeaking only for myself…I trashed Bush before he was appointed…for anyone who wanted to pay attention, it was apparent that he was not the preferred candidate…btw, the popular vote made that clear as well…
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:57 pmYea but liberals didn’t do it too.
First Bush as someone just pointed out wasn’t elected but was placed into power by the Supreme Court in 2000. But as soon as 911 happened and the country was at war, democrats rallied around Bush in droves.
EVERYONE supported him once the country was in trouble.
Well, we’re still in trouble.
The countries in two wars, Al Quaida’s threatening to strike again and we’re facing economic collapse.
Yet the republican support for their country is noticeably absent.
Real American’s support America right now, and it’s leader.
Republicans are not included in that equation.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:58 pmBackup and conservative guy on the same day. This is too much for me to even lurk. Have fun everyone.
August 3rd, 2009 at 6:03 pmDizzy Lizzy’s former title: Principal Deputy assistant SOS for
Near Eastern Affairs.
Translation: assistant in charge of the assistants, to the assistant SOS for NE Affairs.
In other words, way, way, way, down the totem pole.
How the f*** does she merit so much attention ?!
August 3rd, 2009 at 6:36 pmOur nation’s military needed a commander-in-chief during the Bush administration, but there wasn’t one worthy of the title.
Note that nobody ever gets to be commander-in-chief of America. The President is commander-in-chief of the armed forces — not the country.
August 3rd, 2009 at 6:42 pmahhh yes grasshopper, you have snatched the pebble from my hand!
August 3rd, 2009 at 6:54 pmThank you for clarifying that, Liz. The reason the US spends more on their military and has more bases in more countries around the globe is because your daddy wanted to conquer the entire planet. America doesn’t need a community organizer, it needs a militant, powerful presence that will either blow up or buy the world.
Worked well for Al Capone, Stalin, Hitler and every other tin pot dictator wannabe so it should work for your daddy.
August 3rd, 2009 at 7:34 pmLiz Cheney’s voice is just like fingernails on a chalkboard. Her father and his nominal leader were co-liars in chief. Now that is a model I can do without.

Liz Cheney was not potty trained properly or she was dropped on her head at birth. There is no doubt that this freak is mentally deranged from the upbringing in home with her war mongering criminal father.

Say what? Speak up, Lizard girl, speak up.
I don’t recall that anyone has announced an appointment of our President to “disinterested international arbitrator”. You have a subject-object problem here anyway, along with a dependent-independent clause issue. “In order to survive as a nation” what? How does that tap into “our President can’t function as…”. If you stop for a second and think, that whole effing sentence makes no sense.
His commander-in-chiefliness seems adequate to me. His sidekick at DOD and the Chief of the Joint Chiefs don’t seem to be spending all their time skulking around the office playing Wdc games, but that’s somewhat beside the point. Given the number of international issues in front of us, maybe we do need a global community organizer; someone who can get other national leaders on board and in sync with us, rather than just doing the bullying my-way-or-the-highway BS that the Shrub was inclined to, let alone whatever kind of thuggery yo’ daddy favors.
And WTF do you mean by that “He can’t attempt to stand above America” crap. He’s the first citizen, primus inter pares, we elected him to stand above us all for four years – he’s the head of state and head of government. He’d damned well better stand there above us and follow through on the better, more exemplary leader he promised to be. After all, we just had four years of what the Shrub and yo’ daddy thought was leadership; bullying, hiding, torturing, disappearing, etc. It was damned well time for a change.
Would you please return to the crawl space under your rock? And stay there.
August 4th, 2009 at 1:34 amWho EXACTLY is Liz Cheney? Did she graduate from college? Work in govt? Suckle Chimpy in the Oval office? I guess ya gotta do something when oure fathers a reptilian cockroach-the most reviled creature in America!
August 4th, 2009 at 1:52 amLiz Cheney is still in need of mental health care. Her father (authoritarian complex is terminally complicated.
August 4th, 2009 at 5:21 amUnbelievable. Does she not know who her father is?
August 4th, 2009 at 6:38 amYou know Liz we don’t need a community organizer we need a strong world leader and that’s what I voted for in the last election. I frankly got tired and at times very concerned at how your lying douche bag father and his cronies (”Lets have a war and get RICHER”) thought they could do whatever they pleased, and to hell with the international community If someone like myself could see through their bullshit (my own deductions, not MSNBC) don’t you think that highly educated leaders of other countries could also? Your father was and is absolutely the scorn of the civilized world. What you and other conservatives want is to have someone to push the world around. After a while an old saying from the street comes to mind. “Respect is a good thing, but if you are feared, NOW YOUVE GOT A PROBLEM!”
August 4th, 2009 at 9:13 amconservative guy says:

August 4th, 2009 at 10:12 amSweetie, we prefer the community organizer to your lying, cheating, backstabbing, constitution breaking, warmongering father and the rest of his cronies.
