Fox News host Glenn Beck has been under fire in recent weeks for his comments that President Obama is a “racist” with “a deep-seated hatred for white people.” Since ColorOfChange called on its members to urge Beck’s advertisers to drop his show, three advertisers have pulled out. Today, ColorOfChange announced that Geico Insurance is joining them:
“On Tuesday, August 4, GEICO instructed its ad buying service to redistribute its inventory of rotational spots on FOX-TV to their other network programs, exclusive of the Glenn Beck program,” said a spokesperson for GEICO Corporate Communications in an email to ColorOfChange.org. “As of August 4, GEICO no longer runs any paid advertising spots during Mr. Beck’s program.“
They were watching watching you, Glenn, and they didn’t like it!
August 11th, 2009 at 4:33 pmCue the fake outrage, for attacking “a man of the people.”
August 11th, 2009 at 4:33 pmGIEKO and Sargento. Calling the Pres. a racist was a bad idea Glenn. But nobody ever accused you of being smart.

August 11th, 2009 at 4:34 pmKeep the pressure on these advertisers! The Fux idiots understand nothing until it hits ‘em in their wallets!
Good for Geico, and great work by colorofchange.org

August 11th, 2009 at 4:34 pmOoooh, this is censorship! Nasty old insurance company!
Nice work, Geico. Keep this up and I may consider switching from State Farm.
August 11th, 2009 at 4:34 pmKudos to Geico for doing the right thing.
August 11th, 2009 at 4:35 pmBear in mind that we are talking about an insurance company, but give credit where credit is due.
It’s gotta hurt when an insurance company won’t support fascist Republican propaganda.
August 11th, 2009 at 4:35 pmMy son has been telling me to switch from State Farm to Geico.
August 11th, 2009 at 4:36 pmNow if only they’d realize that sponsoring any programming on Faux Snooze Channel is the wrong thing to do, maybe I’d be a little less annoyed by their incessant commercials on other channels…
August 11th, 2009 at 4:37 pmI would love to see a commercial featuring the Geico gecko giving the wingnuts a sound thrashing.
August 11th, 2009 at 4:37 pmWOOT!
August 11th, 2009 at 4:39 pmBeck: “It’s working, guys! I’ve hit home with my truth talk! They’re running scared and going after my advertisers! Let’s step it up again!”
FuxFinance: “We’re sorry to tell you, Mr. Beck, that Fux no longer has a place for you in our line-up. No paid sponsors, free market, I’m sure you understand. Best of luck.”
PEACE
August 11th, 2009 at 4:40 pmKudos to the Advertisers who are pulling out, but for every GIEKO and Sargento there are plenty of Big Pharmas out there who would LOVE to advertise on Glenn Beck’s program(???) After all, old, white racists watch him in droves.

August 11th, 2009 at 4:41 pmDo you think it had anything to do with Glenn Beck’s logical conclusion that a level playing field in our society will lead to slavery?
I am not making this up. Here is the clip.
http://progressnotcongress.org/?p=2490
August 11th, 2009 at 4:42 pmI always thought that Geico had clever advertisements. Now they have shown how truly smart their marketing department is by pulling their ads from Beck’s show.
August 11th, 2009 at 4:44 pmThe fat, white, “conservative” crowd digs the Beck brand of crazy. These are the same people who teabag protested tax increases for Hannity and Limbaugh and are STILL waiting for the promise of Reagan’s trickle down.
August 11th, 2009 at 4:45 pmI think I know why advertisers are pulling out. Not because it’s the right thing to do. But look at the Republican Party in general. Every advertiser worth their salt KNOWS they have to attract YOUNGER people. Look at the Town-Hall protesters. Look at the ‘Bitrher’s’ and the ‘Tea-Baggers’ they are mostly older, white folks. Pretty soon, Faux News will have nothing but Wheel Chair advertisments, and of course, Lot’s of drug commercials.

You don’t really have to. Based on past patterns of conservative posters here, the very facts that you
a) defended Glenn Beck as a “libertarian”
b) invoked Keith Olbermann as some sort of delphic oracle of the Left
and
c) essentially equated NBC with Faux News
is enough to get a pretty solid profile of your political views.
August 11th, 2009 at 6:31 pmAdd to that the characterization of Beck’s show as “edgy”.
August 11th, 2009 at 6:32 pmralph, I am concerned. I’m sure we are all, because regardless of who’s fault it is, we do have many problems that need to be solved as a country, wouldn’t you agree? Do you think they should all be handled just the way the progressive left wants them handled, leaving out the millions of people who feel otherwise? I think reasonable discussion is always a good thing, but I never support the rowdy or violent disruptions that I have been watching on TV
August 11th, 2009 at 6:33 pmIt’s not a zero sum game, Slapster.
If advertisers, especially big ones like Geico, pull out of a particular show, the cost per spot of ads running in that time slot drop, sometimes precipitously.
When a network can only collect half of the ad revenue during a particular show that it can get during the previous hour, it will seek to replace the lame programming with something more profitable.
Understand?
Now go back to “slapping your bastinado”. I’m sure you’ve had enough time to “recover” by now.
August 11th, 2009 at 6:35 pmfair enough Ralph….I shouldn’t have brought Olberman into it, but I would guess that there are many people on here who are dialed into him every night. Obviously it is their right to do so, but he is just as left biased as Hannity or Rush is right biased. They both cherry pick news stories to make their points, and often take quotes out of context. I can assure you I am not “like all other conservatives”, as I am very open minded, and I will only state an opinion on a matter that I believe I have researched thoroughly and can back up my opinions.
August 11th, 2009 at 6:37 pmYes.
You know why? Because the Right had their chance and fu(ked everything up. What ideas they have left are proven failures and the consequences have been dire on so many fronts. So those “millions of people who feel otherwise” have very little credibility left, policy-wise. The fact that anyone in any position of authority still pays attention to anything they say is a testament to the power of VOLUME.
August 11th, 2009 at 6:38 pmaaronk,
You don’t get it. We do have many problems that need to be solved, but the Republicans have failed to address those problems. Now its the Democrats turn.
If millions of people feel left out, that’s a problem with Democracy, not because progressives don’t agree with what conservatives want.
We have learned that there is no having a reasonable discussion with Republicans, which is why we aren’t willing to listen to them anymore. When you defend the wingnut talking points, you put yourself in their camp.
Bush made it quite clear, you are either with us or against us. The progressives are against the Republicans and that isn’t going to change any time soon.
August 11th, 2009 at 6:39 pmWell, aaronk, the only difference I can discern between you and most of the other conservatives here is that you haven’t yet called us all “morons” (h/t Slappy).
Your ideas and prejudices seem pretty much in line with the standard views, though.
August 11th, 2009 at 6:41 pmralph, as I have said on other threads, the “right” didn’t really have a voice under GW, and for the most part he certainly didn’t represent the “right’ or the conservatives. Labels can be dangerous, because when I come on here and say I am a conservative, you assume I have a man-crush on Bush, support the Iraq War, love foreign oil, and want to increase global free trade right?
August 11th, 2009 at 6:42 pmralph, I haven’t really even given any views yet…and I would never call you guys morons. I might disagree, but discussions go nowhere with insults.

He automatically became a liberal when his poll numbers made even the hardcore ashamed to admit to voting for him. It’s convenient…they always say that people betray conservatism whereas if it were just implemented perfectly, everyone would prosper. It’s never conservatism’s ideas that should be discredited but rather the “betrayers” who automatically turn into liberals. Google Bush liberal and find out…

August 11th, 2009 at 7:00 pmLevi,
August 11th, 2009 at 7:09 pmhe did not spend like a conservative, he spent like a drunken sailor. He never met a spending bill he didn’t like. He nearly broke medicaid with one stroke of the pen. Conservatives don’t want wars with no reason. I think we all support the “defense” of this country, and had Iraq been proven to have WMDs with intent to use them on the US, of course that would be legitamite use of monetary and military resources. When that was proven to be wrong, we should have gotten out (of we should have never been there if we already knew it wasn’t true). Some “conservatives” (in name only) are stuck up the Elephant’s ass and they will defend our time in Iraq because we are “promoting democracy”, which I will contend is a noble cause, but not a constitutional one, and certainly not an obligation of the US taxpayers, when we have many Americans in need of help.
Keith,
August 11th, 2009 at 7:13 pmIn 2000, people were only looking at his Governatorial record which was still mostly conservative, and many people enjoyed the (distant) connection to Reagan. In 2004 the economy had recovered from 9/11 and at that time many people still felt that he handled that situation very well. He also ran on the privatization of Social Security, which of course is very popular with conservatives (which he abandoned like 2 months into the term), add to the fact that Kerry was a pretty bad candidate for the dems….a great recipe for Bush 04′
LOL.
That’s the comment I was looking for. Of course the caveman is smarter. And better looking. And more likable. And….
August 11th, 2009 at 7:16 pmaaronk,
Are there any conservative presidents that did not spend money like a drunken sailor? Bush almost did kill Medicaid, and conservatives are still trying to stop socialized medicine today at town halls.
Since when do conservatives not want to start wars? Are you just another wingnut trying to rewrite history? The oil industry and the industrial military complex demand conservatives start wars, it’s how Republicans fund their campaigns and line their pockets.
Using the “bush is not a true conservative” argument does not hold water here.
August 11th, 2009 at 7:17 pmNow if only Geico would make a commercial comparing Glenn Beck and the Caveman.
Oh, and 18. kevster – I thought you were kidding. Your weren’t though !
August 11th, 2009 at 7:19 pmActually we’re talking about Auto Insurance companies here, which don’t have the negative connotations associated with them that health insurance companies do. I’ve never had a real problem with an auto insurance company. In fact, most of them do a pretty good job.
Last week Progressive Auto Insurance pulled their ads. Now Geico Auto Insurance pulls their ads.
This speaks well for these two companies management and no doubt will drive more business to them just due to the fact that Americans respect moral character, which pulling these ads took.
Pretty soon all Becks going to have left is Viagra ads.
Way to go Geico!
August 11th, 2009 at 7:20 pmLevi, I’m certainly not trying to change history, but to answer your question, I would say that we probably have to go back to Calvin Coolidge. He reduced the federal debt all 8 years. Soon after that Presidents kind of started the trend of using future generations’ debt, to purchase votes from special interests. And by the way, why do you keep assuming that Republican = conservative. It’s like saying all Democrats are liberal.
August 11th, 2009 at 7:27 pmSo when people start calling people facists or Nazis are they into pyschological projection or self delusion. I wonder if they have health insurance so they can get medical attention. Is mental illness covered in the health care reform plan?
August 11th, 2009 at 7:32 pmHaving commercials that feature a caveman on a show with a caveman host is redundant.
August 11th, 2009 at 7:36 pmaaronk,
You are right about one thing. Republicans are not conservatives.
August 11th, 2009 at 7:45 pmLevi, there are a few out there, but they are usually at the local level. I would assume that is the same with both sides….in order to make it to the “big show” you get sucked into corruption. There’s A LOT of money in being a politician. Senator Evan Bayh makes like 2 million/year from his wife’s “board appointments”. Congressman Mike Pence seems to try to promote fiscal responsibility and actually offer alternative bi-partisan solutions to many problems, but he has aligned himself so tightly with the religious-right that the left has a hard time supporting him on anything at all.
August 11th, 2009 at 7:54 pmHey Beck!

That was a public debt, by the way, that Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Ford whittled down term by term — imposing tax rates as high as 91% on the top bracket (Eisenhower, BTW).
It was not until Reagan embraced the Laffer Curve and Supply-Side economics that the public debt as a share of the GDP reversed that trend and started climbing upward.
Well, there ARE conservative Democrats, and there used to be liberal Republicans… but how would you characterize non-conservative Republicans these days? Are libertarians not conservative?
August 11th, 2009 at 8:46 pmOK, thought I would just lurk and listen, but one think aaronk said really put me over the top…
“… I think we all support the “defense” of this country, and had Iraq been proven to have WMDs with intent to use them on the US, of course that would be legitamite use of monetary and military resources. ”
The point is, the case for WMDs was made up by his administration so as to drive the bloodlust for the war. This is not an issue you look at in retrospect. The first unprovoked war in US history was based on trumped up ‘facts’. That is a stain that the right is trying to wash out (seems like it has worked on aaronk), but I hope it sticks forever…
August 11th, 2009 at 8:52 pmThis man probably wears depends did you see when he cries. I am sure there is intellegent life out there – reptiles are running from the insanity that once may have been called news it is sad my grandchildren will be living in a place where repugs say no and dems try to negotiate and the only people that lose are not glenn beck, not the repugs, and probably not the dems….just us…thanks fox for chasing the geicos – it is a blessing BAN FOx I do for the people claiming it is there right I fear they incite riots and wonder why no one does anything about it. Red Dawn only not Russians just ignorant fox viewers
August 11th, 2009 at 8:53 pmThe Geico Gecko is GREEN, Glenny-Boy. Should a thought of that!

August 11th, 2009 at 9:10 pmaaronk slants@107 or “A Look Into Madness.”
In 2000, people were only looking at his Governatorial record which was still mostly conservative, and many people enjoyed the (distant) connection to Reagan.
WTF, man! Don’t fool yourself, bud. Don’t rattle on like a steaming idiot. One, “Governatorial means what? Two, repugs never have the numbers or the brains to substain the people’s choice.
In 2004 the economy had recovered from 9/11 and at that time many people still felt that he handled that situation very well.
WTF?! Your statement is way over the top. The economy and “9/11″ or a better, practical name would be “The Bushs’ Disasters. The “economy recovered from 9/11.” This sentence proves you have a terrible case of idiocy. These two events did happened during chimp’s watch but it counts as two major f0ck-*ps, that’s all, not one event. What about the Wars, hunting down and killing heads of states, looting etc. Mr. Dumbass.
He also ran on the privatization of Social Security, which of course is very popular with conservatives (which he abandoned like 2 months into the term),
It wasn’t popular, it was infamous and stupid. chimpy was about to hand over OUR money to “wall street.” You don’t remember too well, do you?
add to the fact that Kerry was a pretty bad candidate for the dems….a great recipe for Bush 04′
Are you kidding me?
August 11th, 2009 at 9:11 pmDon’t be proud of your stupidity.
Watching this guy is like watching a car accident happen right before your eyes.
August 11th, 2009 at 9:19 pmlets hope they all pull out , they need to just boycott fox period, the hate station.
August 11th, 2009 at 9:28 pmbe careful; we as Americans should be able to criticize and scrutinize every politician particularly the president. I would pull out of Geico if Geico does not believe in American’s freedom of speech.
August 11th, 2009 at 9:38 pm“The fat, white, “conservative” crowd digs the Beck brand of crazy”.
Is the above comment racist, or is it OK under the new definition of racism?
August 11th, 2009 at 9:45 pmWhat a bunch of fascist idiots! Having a bit of a problem dealing with the truth — or that real citizens are speaking their minds? Can’t stand opposing points of view?
The advertisers are the real losers, here. The highest rated news programs on television are all on FOX NEWS — including O’Reilly, Beck & Hannity. Their ratings are through the roof because real Americans want to be left alone and that’s what they’re hearing on FOX NEWS. They’re sure as Hell not getting that information from any other news source.
They don’t want government doing for them what they can do for themselves. THAT’s AMERICA…THAT’S AMERICAN.
Shame on all of you for your culture of entitlement and greed!
August 11th, 2009 at 9:47 pmnot racist – descriptive.
there’s no new definition.
people get locked up for free speech all the time clarita,
but they’re mostly Lefties,
so you wouldn’t know about it.
but don’t let that stop you from pretending to be the victim of something.
August 11th, 2009 at 9:48 pmShame on you MDarrell, for being a big enough sucker to buy the lies.
Fox is to TV news what the Enquirer is to newspapers.
(and, MDarrell, that’s not a compliment to Fox)
August 11th, 2009 at 9:49 pmCorporate accountability to the public they massage into buying their products does not usually cover declining ad time on right wing mental masturbation exercises, so to see it occur now and at this time in our reactionary history is a light in the tunnel not at the end as of yet. Touche to the activists who rang the advertisers bell so well.
August 11th, 2009 at 9:51 pmBush was conservative in that he used government to further corporate greed…which is what conservatism basically is…the religion of money masquerading as the defender of family and traditional values…Conservatives never worry about deficits and out-of-control spending as long as it goes to their corporate buddies or the military industrial complex or tax cuts to the richest Americans. You can protest all you like, but a facet of conservatism is starving social programs in order to funnel wealth to the very top. Bush did that and more…

oh yes, we’re all deadbeats living with our parents just waiting for the day we can eat Flaming Hot Cheetos wantonly once we get our “free healthcare” while you proud Americans bear the load for us…so the myth says…
when the reality is, the people who are pushing against health reform NEED government to tell them who the bad guys are, like TEH MEMBERS OF TEH HOMO-SEX-YOU-ALL AGENDA…Ironic isn’t it? Those who cry about and tell us to stop relying on government need the thing they hate to make them feel better, to dry their tears and calm their fears…

UCSB Kitty, I like your attitude.
The sponsors declining to spend money on Beck won’t faze the KKKonservanzis at all. Let them run this rig in the ditch. The lies, racist propaganda, and just plain old stupid KKKonservanazi bu$hit is all they got. Bring it on.
Obama stands up to these POS.
I want to thank Sargento, GEICO and Men’s Wearhouse for coming to their senses and not standing behind this racist KKKonservanazi pig.
Fux Noise and it’s idiots keep fanning the flames of hatred, just praying someone will do violence against a Democrat. Then, they will stand back and act shocked that something like that happened.

August 11th, 2009 at 11:04 pmYou’re right! It’s still Bush’s fault! You really don’t understand the Capitalist design of this Country, do you?
The conscience of big business is market pressure. Proud to say I’m a customer of Geico, and now I intend to remain one for a long time! If you’ve even been thinking about getting a Geico quote, now’s the time. Wouldn’t it be great if they saw a spike in new policies to coincide with this excellent business and humanitarian decision? The majority of Americans are tired of the fringe lunatics, like Beck and his ilk. Those who attempt to justify his hateful rhetoric by pointing to his viewer numbers need to keep in mind that ANY freak show will attract a crowd … for a while. Let me forecast the future for you: Be prepared to say goodbye to more advertisers.
August 11th, 2009 at 11:10 pmI signed the ColorOfChange petition and then posted their link to the petition site on my blog and on my website. My organization (not affiliated with the ColorOfChange) believes in boycotting businesses and advertisers.
If you feel that a company is unethical, I say boycott (and let them know why you won’t be doing business with them). When you’re dealing with an advertiser, you have to contact the advertiser and let them know why you won’t be using their product anymore.
FedEx was using, what I believe were unethical tactics to pressure other businesses to lobby against or refuse to support the Employee Free Choice Act. I got the name and phone number of the head of the company (I had to call the business reference section of my public library to get the info); I then called the head of the company (got his assistant) and expressed how I felt about FedEx’s tactics to try to derail the EFCA. I then posted the details and phone number on my blog so others could call and express their opinions.
We’ve all got to get the word out when we see or hear about businesses or individuals who are clearly engaging in unethical practices, or doing something we believe is illegal.

August 11th, 2009 at 11:48 pmHave you ever watched Glenn Beck and his ‘ilk’ in length and with attention? He is insightful, passionate and patriotic about his country and the direction it is going. Or, are you just reading the Kool-Aid drinking sound bites?
Hitler was insightful, passionate and patriotic about his country as well..

Your posts are destined for the sewer where they belong. No pity for you. Its a waste of time. August 12th, 2009 at 12:29 amOh, yes, it was so insightful of Beck to accuse Obama, who had a white mother, was raised for a while in Hawaiian by his Caucasian grandparents, and even interrupted his campaign last fall to visit his white grandmother before she died, “racist.”

Beck’s a librarian?
Holy hamburger, I knew the country’s educational system had gone downhill but I had no idea it had taken a flying leap into the Grand Canyon. Crap. Oh. Sorry. Libertarian. Geez, had me scared for a minute there.
No, no, Aronk. There are no libertarians, nor are there Libertarians. A lot of people think they talk the talk but none of them really manage to walk the walk. Beck doesn’t do either. Well, he talks but what he’s doing is selling advertising time to a guaranteed audience of cretins. He will tell any lie and bear any kind of false witness and throw an endless stream of sensationalized bullshit out there to get that audience of drones and then he sells that audience to advertisers.
(you are getting drowsy you will change the channel to FauxSnooze Glenn Beck loves ya, but will he respect you in the morning?)
August 12th, 2009 at 1:35 amSo, a bunch of you idiots (and, yes, MORONS) think Glenn Beck is a liar. OK, point out ONE, just ONE lie and provide proof of the lie. Oh, I think I get it, y’all think personal responsibility and self-reliance are all lies. You think you need to steal MY money to fund another one of your mortgage payments you couldn’t afford or pay your health insurance YOU chose NOT to buy.
Oh, one more thing….
Whilst y’all were ranting about your entitlements, I canceled my GEICO gecko crap (house, cars, boat and motorcycle) and switch to AFLAC! I held Geico in higher esteem until today.
August 12th, 2009 at 2:13 amABC, NBC, CBS. —- I remember this group from 25 years ago when I recognized their Left-Wing Liberal bias and elitism.

PS – Judging by the infantile comments here, it would appear that many of you are still in diapers.
August 12th, 2009 at 3:10 amTo Kenneth,
August 12th, 2009 at 3:20 amI have done absolutely no name-calling on this thread, but it seems to me that you have engaged in a lot of it. And if many of us are still in diapers, then we must be true Mensa-class geniuses to be using computers and writing on this blog at such a young age.
So, a bunch of you idiots (and, yes, MORONS) think Glenn Beck is a liar.
I don’t think Glenn Beck says strange and unsupportable things because he’s a liar… I think he does it because he’s an idiot.
There’s a difference.
August 12th, 2009 at 3:26 amTo MDarrell
Glenn Beck’s remark that Obama is a racist who hates white people is one of the most obvious lies, among many. You must have a short memory if you don’t recall how some in the media were even criticizing Obama for taking time out of his presidential campaign last fall to visit his dying Caucasian grandmother. But frankly, I don’t know how much of what Beck spouts are lies and how much stems from mere ignorance.
As for my mortgage, I already paid it off 5 years ahead of schedule. So much for my supposed desire to steal your money to pay for it! You seem to have serious delusions and could use some mental health care.

You are stupid. The media is not liberally biased. You are a brainwashed moron who believes that because you were told to and you KNOW you are too stupid to think for yourself. I am a liberal. The media is not pushing any agenda I want. The media that were cheerleaders in the runup to the war in Iraq. That ignored the Downing street memo for a month while it was the biggest story in the world. That refused to call Bush on his near constant lying. YOU are stupid enough to believe anything that conforms to your ignorant delusional fantasies. Those of us in the reality based universe have lots of fun laughing at morons as stupid as you. Kenneth your wrong you have no idea how this country was design and if by design, you mean that an African-American and/or women was never suppose to be President than we can see why your biased. And who wants to be “dumb” down by the conservatives and the their hate filled media think Beckee-boy, Shyt for brains Hannity, and Limpy . And as we can see your hate filled biased conservatives are shrinking to oblivion which to say the least is a good thing. Kitty,
You’re right! It’s still Bush’s fault! You really don’t understand the Capitalist design of this Country, do you?
Gee, your ilk was blaming Clinton long after he left office…look at yourself in the mirror before pontificating about personal responsibility just like you hypocrites do…Everything even in 2008 was the Clenis’ fault…
August 12th, 2009 at 6:30 amKenneth, you really don’t understand the myth of the free market in our country, do you?
and if you want to talk about being hateful, go look in the mirror and look at the Freepers. You know what’s infuriating? It’s always the Progressives who are called to be civil, understanding, and considerate while freepers and their ilk get away with just about everything except murder. You think just because some of our posters are taking out their anger at the constant and mindless trolling really compares to the other side laughing at lynching jokes, calling for the death of their political opponents, and joking about putting poison in Speaker Pelosi’s wine? No, I know, because your humor and that of conservatives is born from violence and racism…so yeah spare me the “it’s only a joke” whine…
August 12th, 2009 at 6:41 amit’s called projection…and the right is masterful at it…
not to imply that you find violent or racist jokes funny much as I did in the previous post mistakenly, but for all your pontificating about how we’re hateful, perhaps you should call out your hero Beck for making those callous jokes…
and you should ponder why Beck would make an appeal to the crazies to not go off on a limb and actually kill someone in order that the “cause not be discredited…”
August 12th, 2009 at 6:47 ameugenedeb, I have no idea what you are talking about regarding atheists….I never said that any of you are atheist….I don’t know if you are and I don’t care. that’s your business.
I was asked to give a reason why I think Bush won in 00′ & 04′, and I was called stupid, although my reasons are very founded, even though I am not a GW fan.
You’re right, I don’t know what shows you guys watch or listen to, but I listen & watch a variety, and many of the points on here sound exactly like the Olberman Madow talking points. There’s nothing wrong with that….if you’re a liberal, why would you probably should be a fan of them. I would just suggest that you take a look at the news from all viewpoints….it can really open your eyes.
I don’t get my opinions from Beck, Hannity, Rush, or anyone else. I read, watch, listen, to everyone from Beck to Olberman, to Ed Schulz to politico. Every news story has 3 or 4 angles.

August 12th, 2009 at 10:30 amI, like others, gather my news and information from a variety of sources — from Limbaugh and Beck to Mike Malloy and Thom Hartmann. I listen to progressive radio because I want to know what my enemies are thinking and saying.
I am appalled at the country you “progressives” would propose. Our nation, our society and our heritage is built on personal responsibility and initiative. Those values built the economic engine that powers the entire globe and affords Europe the opportunity to “experiment” with your ideas of a “Progressive Society” from the sweat, toil and earnings of people like me.
Your “utopia” would remove all those values….and to what end — so we can all be poor and stupid — EXCEPT for you who are the “Chosen” elite who will tell the rest of us how we’re supposed to live our lives. Ah, yes, the perfect Nanny State! Your utopia works fine as long as someone else is footing the bill.
When I read your comments I’m bitterly sorry I spent 8 years of my life defending what it is that you want this country to become. I thank the Gods (all of them) that it is clear the majority of Americans continue to completely reject your elitist culture of envy.
Gosh, progressive guys and gals, you want your progressive lifestyle — PLEASE go to Europe.
August 12th, 2009 at 11:13 amaaronk says:
ralph, I am concerned. I’m sure we are all, because regardless of who’s fault it is, we do have many problems that need to be solved as a country, wouldn’t you agree? Do you think they should all be handled just the way the progressive left wants them handled, leaving out the millions of people who feel otherwise?
Were you concerned for the last 8 years while Bush and the Republics shut out the millions of people who thought otherwise? I’m betting you weren’t concerned about that. The “concern” only arises when the Democrats are in control and the Republics aren’t getting their way.

So I take it that you are one of those who feel that basic health care in this country should be a privilege and not a right.
I’ve worked hard all my life. I am 61 years old and find myself unemployed (through no fault of my own) for the first time in my adult life. Due to my age and where I live, I doubt that I will ever work again. In January when my unemployment and COBRA run out, I will be royally screwed financially. So, perhaps you can tell me how this is my fault.
People like you make me sick.
August 12th, 2009 at 12:21 pmBilbo –
I’m 62 and after 44 years of employment found myself in an unemployment line. I determined that was not for me and launched a successful business using the talents and contacts I’d developed over the years. NO, I do not believe health care is some kind of entitlement. I DO believe you have the right to make choices and participate in your health care.
Your response is so typical…..you have a problem and rather than picking yourself up, dusting yourself off and boldly go forward, it’s just a whole lot easier to blame someone (or something) else for your troubles.
Good Lord, man up, will you? People like you make me sick!
August 12th, 2009 at 12:55 pmIt’s about time, maybe more advertisers will wise up and pull their ads and FOX will have to cancel his show because nobody will buy ads on it.
And btw, I just started a website on Beck.

If you want to read more on Beck visit the website, I do daily updates on him on my blog.

August 12th, 2009 at 2:17 pmCongrats MDarrell,
August 12th, 2009 at 5:04 pmI too started a new career at 63. Those on this blog want everything handed to them on a silver platter and are part of the ‘Hate Bush’ crowd. They have been brainwashed by the school system and media and now found a home on these so called progress sites where they can spew their venom with impunity.–Just a bunch of hateful ranters and name-callers. Just a bunch of pablum eating, diaper wearing infants who, when they can’t get their way resort to vitriolic comments.
Speaking about name-calling and vitriolic comments, eh? Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

August 12th, 2009 at 6:40 pmprogress sites where they can spew their venom with impunity.–Just a bunch of hateful ranters and name-callers. Just a bunch of pablum eating, diaper wearing infants who, when they can’t get their way resort to vitriolic comments.
August 12th, 2009 at
Kenneth is absolutely spot on! All those venomous, little, diaper-wearing elitists are pissed off because their diapers are dirty and they expect the government to come and change them.
It’s shameful. They really need to get a life.
August 12th, 2009 at 6:57 pmI hope the other side don’t start boycotting. They have large following.
August 12th, 2009 at 8:17 pmAARONK
You arent the one that said 99% of us here are atheists? If I was wrong about that I appologize I dont know how I got that wrong.
I dont watch ANY TV news it is a waste. No depth. I can do better wherever you get your talking points you spew them straight out of the rightwing propaganda parrot manual
August 12th, 2009 at 8:25 pmMDarrell says: You dont GET information from Limbaugh et all. You get lies and propaganda you are too stupid to recogmize. You are a brainwashed moron. Our country was built with co-operation. Shared sacrifice and shared benifits. Selfish ignorant brainwashed fools like you have just been programmed to regurgitate this nonsense and you are too stupid to understand it IS nonsense. The economic darwinism and everyman for himself sefishness you espouse would make this not a country at all just a group of strangers living in the same basic geographical area. You are stupid and you spew stupid. YOUR Utopia would result in our re-enacting the Lord of the Flies. I am bitter that morons like you are not shunned by decent human beings and laughed at with the derisive contempt you deserve.
We are even. Ignorant selfish souless morons like YOU make DECENT people sick. You are a subhuman moron and a sich selfish piece of garbage. The world will be a better place when you leave it. I hope I get the opportunity to dance on your grave.
August 12th, 2009 at 8:32 pmKenneth you are a worthless parasite living off of the sweat of others. If you disappeared tomorrow the only way anyone would notice you were gone is the party the decent people would throw that your stennch and stupidity were finally removed from the nieghborhood. You are an ignorant pustulent piece of dogshit and those are your best qualities.
August 12th, 2009 at 8:34 pmIf MDarrell really had a life, he wouldn’t be spending so much time spewing venom on a progressive blog to a lot of people he has never met and is in absolutely no position to judge.

Well to be fair. Look how stupid the guy is. Its not like anyone is going to like him or respect him. Even if his mommy kicks him out of the basement he wont have any friends to spend time with. This sad and pathetic display of his astonishi8ng ignorance is probably the only attention he has much hope of getting
August 12th, 2009 at 10:22 pmEugeneDebs revealed his true self in his response to MDarrell. His is a BITTER person and his only response is bitter, vile rhetoric.
August 13th, 2009 at 1:14 amI read (and sometimes respond) to these types of blog sites because I want to know what the enemies of my country and our society are saying and thinking. Kenneth nails it everytime. You are all bitter, sad and pathetic and will continue to be so as long as you continue to live with your culture of envy.
Rather than going out and earning life’s rewards, you’d much rather blame your problems on someone who HAS worked, provided for his family and served his community or have “government” give you handouts.
By the way, my second-grade grandson is more cogent and writes better than many of these morons.
August 13th, 2009 at 9:29 amI’m listening to my FAVORITE Fox show, Glenn Beck (while I WORK for my Health Care that I want to KEEP) today, August 13, 2009, and I just want to let you know that I’ve already heard several GEICO commercials, and they are just a drop in the water even if they do pull their ads. Glenn and FOX doesn’t need them. They have enough supporters. And I’m glad P&G is not advertising on Glenn Beck, because they are an animal torturing evil company!
August 13th, 2009 at 10:22 amall of these responses are great, but most of the sane people in this country do not see them. The only way to get media coverage is to have a health care reform march on washington. With millions of people gathered in one place demanding to be heard, the news whores will not be able to ignore us.we all worked hard and believed in Obama and helped to get rid of the republican fascist party. Now that the shock has worn off the republithugs can’t believe that carl rove’s dream of fifty years of republican rule is over(read his book ,this is the idea that he was selling ).So is it any surprise that they are behaving the way that they are?let’s win this fight the way we won the election,by coming together, standing up for what we the majority believe in!!!WE need to fight back against the beck, palin, limbaugh racists
August 13th, 2009 at 10:25 amA majority of people have been screwed by the insurance companies. They ration our care and have panels that decide to reject many claims and deny coverage. they often deny what doctors we can see such as a specialist. While there are people that have great coverage, many more of us do not, even though we pay for health insurance! The real elitists are those who don’t believe in fair coverage for the rest of us.My husband and I are not lazy blood suckers who want to live off the goverment tit.All we want is a fair price charged for health insurance which we are willing to pay.stop voting against your own interests ,if you lose your job or develope a new illness you too could be without coverage.I dare say if you have a child born with a disability would you turn down disability/social security if your child needed medical care and you could not pay for it? are you willing to turn down unemployement checks if you are laid off?How about disability if you are hurt on the job?THese are all goverment programs.say what ever nasty things you can think of but there is no denying the truth.
August 13th, 2009 at 10:58 amI won’t miss the Sargento ads. They were just cheesy. I will miss seeing that gecko though.
August 13th, 2009 at 12:46 pmMDarrell,
Please tell where I have expressed any bitterness or envy on this blog or asked for government handouts. You lose the argument by your sweeping generalization that no one here has worked for his/her own money and served his/her community.
As for your second-grade grandson, I assume her writes better than you, too. The subject, “Our nation, our society and our heritage,” is plural and requires a plural verb like “are.” I probably knew that much in second grade, too.

So the great Messiah is sinking…Can’t walk on water after all….oh yeah..I’m sure I’ll be called a racist..if anyone disagrees then they are a racist….Well OK..I hate green..screw the little lizard…

Is it just me ?????? Sorry Lora, you failed the second grade test…Just like Nobama’s failed health plan.
Share the wealth…I’ll be glad to share my work ethic..then you can earn and have your own wealth
August 14th, 2009 at 2:35 amAaronk, this is addressed to you. I am neither a republican nor a democrat, but tend to lean towards the liberal side of most issues. I just wanted to apologize to you for how so many people talk to you. I disagree with some of what you say, but I respect your willingness to share your beliefs despite the flagrant verbal abuse many have aimed at you. I hope you continue to post intelligent comments and I encourage others to do the same, rather than stereotyping him as a bush-lover or conservative moron. Regardless of whether you disagree, say something of value rather than committing the logical fallacy of ad hominem.
August 14th, 2009 at 2:47 amSorry, NOBrainMomma, but I assume “her” was a mere typo. Yes, admittedly it is a mistake on my part, but you could have picked up on that since the reference is to a grandson and not to a “her.”
For your reference, I have Ivy League degrees, read five languages, own my own house (mortgage paid off early) and don’t need an a..hole like you to tell me about work ethic?and earning money.??

We’ll just do the right thing . . . . . cancel our policies with these insurance companies, and discontinue purchasing the products from companies that have the same agenda as our government.
August 14th, 2009 at 8:31 amI am embarrased as a citizen of the United States of America when a large corporation runs scared from a senseless, “pip-squeak” communist special interest group with an anti-freedom agenda. Patriots, arise and defend your freedom which was bought with the blood of our fore-fathers and is paid for daily by the blood of our sons and daughters. Freedom is not free but is it easily surrendered by failure to act. Keep the faith.
August 14th, 2009 at 1:27 pmI don’t think Geico has any business playing policitcs with its advertising decisions. I am organizing a boycott of Geico that everyone is invited to join – http://www.boycottowl.com/Geico/5.
August 14th, 2009 at 4:56 pmOne thing that’s clear is the controversial hasn’t dented the popularity of Beck’s program. On Tuesday, for example, overnight Nielsen’s showed The Glenn Beck Program attracted over 2.3 million viewers — more than CNN, MSNBC, and Headline News combined.

August 15th, 2009 at 1:35 pmYou really LOVE the name calling don’t you? Do you have any fundamental core values other than name calling, hate speech and vile rhetoric?
EugeneDebs,
Here are some Principles and values I believe in and live my life accordingly. What are yours?
Principles
1.
America Is Good.
2.
I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
God “The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the external rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.” from George Washington’s first Inaugural address.
3.
I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
Honesty “I hope that I shall always possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider to be the most enviable of all titles, the character of an honest man.” George Washington
4.
The family is sacred. A Man and his spouse are the ultimate authority, not the government.
Marriage/Family “It is in the love of one’s family only that heartfelt happiness is known. By a law of our nature, we cannot be happy without the endearing connections of a family.” Thomas Jefferson
5.
If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
Justice “I deem one of the essential principles of our government… equal and exact justice to all men of whatever state or persuasion, religious or political.” Thomas Jefferson
6.
I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
Life, Liberty, & The Pursuit of Happiness “Everyone has a natural right to choose that vocation in life which he thinks most likely to give him comfortable subsistence.” Thomas Jefferson
7.
I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
Charity “It is not everyone who asketh that deserveth charity; all however, are worth of the inquiry or the deserving may suffer.” George Washington
8.
It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
On your right to disagree “In a free and republican government, you cannot restrain the voice of the multitude; every man will speak as he thinks, or more properly without thinking.” George Washington
9.
The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
Who works for whom? “I consider the people who constitute a society or a nation as the source of all authority in that nation.” Thomas Jefferson
My 12 Values
August 15th, 2009 at 1:41 pm* Honesty
* Reverence
* Hope
* Thrift
* Humility
* Charity
* Sincerity
* Moderation
* Hard Work
* Courage
* Personal Responsibility
* Gratitude
Leave it to a stupid troll to try to publicize his/her reichwing, racist boycott on a progressive site. It sounds rather defeatist in its purpose.
BTW, Geico has every right to take its business where it chooses.

Are all you people IRONY-DEFICIENT? Geico pulls ads from Glen Beck for calling Obama a racist yet GEICO runs racist ads belittleing and de-humanising cavemen like me on every chanel in every program and on every day. When USHER called Bush a racist after hurricane Katrina GEICO hired Usher to spot for GEICO but when I mention it its comical. Yet no one here sees what I see? It seems most people on this site are just gimpy over our lord and savior-Obama. I for one could care less about Obama, Bush, Palin, The D.N.C or the R.N.C. If you think for one minute that the health care bill and all other Government take overs and Bail-Outs are not about Government power and a socialist agenda then you should be clubbed over the head for being so ignorant. I cant believe how dumb my country has become. PEACE-OUT FOOLS !!

August 16th, 2009 at 10:29 pmall have the RIGHT idea. The conservative, spiritual ideas upon which this nation was founded are still alive and well. We need only be strong in our beliefs and act upon them. As for Lora and EugeneDebs, it appears they suffer from LVS (limitd vocabulary syndrome). Their name-calling is limited to the word “stupid” when there are a plethora of phrases form expressing an equal characteristic. As for EugeneDebs, don’t be embarrased because we are not likely to be from the same species. I am a human being.
MDarrell says:

What a bunch of fascist idiots!
August 17th, 2009 at 1:18 pm**************************************************************
Kudos to MDarrell!!! Yours is the most intelligent, well-spoken and poignant post on the entire site!! The welfare society begun by FDR and placed into overdrive by JFK, LBJ, Jimmy Carter and Bill/Hillary Clinton will never understand that their entitlements come at a price which is paid by the honest, hard-working American citizen. The freedom to rant, rave, riot and complain is secured by the blood and sweat of our soldiers, both home and abroad, as well as the brave law enforcement personnel who place them selves in harm’s way to serve and protect us all. This society wishes to be given everything with no regard to who pays the price. It seems that we have truly reached the point where Karl Marx’s famous quote is rapidly becoming a reality in this country rather than in Russia. “From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.” It was an undertone in BHO’s campaign but is the central theme in current affairs in this country. A blend of socialism and communism is being forced upon us. Patriots arise, for the tree of Liberty must often be refreshed with the blood of Patriots. As was so 233 years ago, we must remember that the Doorway to Liberty is framed with muskets. If you really would like a lesson true American History and would like to learn how we can recover from this Oppression, listen to Newt Gingrich and read his books. He has the answers and one would do well to follow his lead. Deo Vindice!!
To mjm500:
I joined your boycott last night. I will not support any of the advertisers who have pulled their spots from the Glenn Beck program. Keep the fire alive.
August 17th, 2009 at 3:09 pmToo bad my formerly favorite car insurance company has given in to Blackmail from affiliates of the democrat machine. Geico, Sargento, et al., I’m sure gonna miss ya!
August 17th, 2009 at 5:45 pmTo Berl Goetz That’s the spirit.
August 17th, 2009 at 9:28 pmLeave it to a stupid troll to try to publicize his/her reichwing, racist boycott on a progressive site.
Lora,
To your comment above, the name calling still continues. Do you have anything constructive to say?
In answer to your comment about this progressive site; someone has to challenge the Far Left Progressives like yourself because the Left is trying to systematically and incrementally tear-apart and destroy this Country from what the Founding Fathers designed and intended.
As long as I’m alive I will fight for the Freedoms and Liberty we enjoy in the Country which the Left seems to take for granted.
August 17th, 2009 at 10:09 pmTo Kenneth: Your fighting spirit is an inspiration to the Patriots. I’m proud to fight beside you to defend our Freedoms and our Liberty! Keep the Faith.
