Daily Kos/Research 2000 has released a new poll of Americans on which of the three major cable news channels they watch and trust. Kos points out that the poll finds “Republicans watch Fox News and nothing else, Democrats split between MSNBC and CNN, and Independents watch nothing.” The Washington Independent’s Dave Weigel notes that “non-white viewers really don’t like Fox”:
The biggest swing region in the poll? The South. In Southern states, 46 percent of viewers say that Fox News is “extremely reliable” or “reliable.” Only 6 percent of them say that of MSNBC, compared to 26 percent who say it of CNN, a huge shift from the days when CNN was derided as the “Communist/Clinton News Network.” And non-white viewers really don’t like Fox. Only 5 percent of African-Americans, 11 percent of Hispanics, and 8 percent of other minorities consider the network reliable, while a majority of every one of those groups trusts CNN and sizable pluralities trust MSNBC.
And in a late breaking story, the sun came up in the east this morning..! Film at 11:00 AM!

Just a second now. I am Native American, but I have to add this.
Not all whites watch Fox News, but most Fox News watchers are white.
Substitute “white” with idiots or racists and it works too.
“Independents watch nothing.”
Some Independents get their news by other sources, those that don’t read news at all end up being sheep for the Neocons, teabaggers, birthers and racists.

This Poll has Zero Creditability. It come from a politically biased organization.
Daily Kos (pronounced /?ko?s/) is an American political blog, publishing news and opinion from a liberal or progressive point of view.
_____________________________________________________________
Nobody here is going to dispute that Daily Kos is a progressive blogsite.
However, Research 2000 is “a nonpartisan full service research firm that conducts surveys and focus groups for advocacy groups, trade associations, businesses and over 300 news media organizations,” according to their website:
http://research2000.us/about/
Do you consider a Gallup poll cited on Fox News to be biased, just because of the medium? Oh…wait…you probably don’t even consider Fox News to be biased. Bad example. But my point is that Daily Kos doesn’t conduct the poll, Research 2000 does. Daily Kos was merely reporting the results. And the results aren’t surprising.
I won’t even get started about “creditability”…unless you mean to say praiseworthiness instead of believability.

August 17th, 2009 at 2:21 pmWatchdog, et al: Next time, before you start yapping about an organization’s “creditability” to try to discredit an opinion poll, you may want to consider challenging the poll itself instead. As in, challenging the methodology and the interpretation of the results.

There is a point to be reiterated here about Fox news that is rarely stated — Fox News is available EVERYWHERE. It’s always on in public places, it is available on all free cable networks, whereas MSNBC is a premium channel.
August 17th, 2009 at 2:56 pmHaving said that, people find their comfort zones in their routines, and with the liars channel so readily available, and their programmed-robot-anchors making news with their outrageous hysterics, it should be no surprise that in addition to pandering to the low-information voter/racist, Faux Noos and its cnchors are what most viewers are accustomed to seeing whevever they go.

I argue that Fox is right of center and much of the MSM is left of center.
Conservatives limit themselves to Fox with Progressives split between other MSM.
If there were another right of center network that could split the conservative audience or the numbers for CNN and MSNBC were combined (to reflect conservative vs. progressive viewership), the results would be less stark. (would also disarm the conservative point that Fox news higher ratings have some significance).
Otherwise, not much of shocker. Conservatives watch Fox, Progressives don’t.

It may be that for conservatives, it’s still the only game in town when you factor in non-cable news sources as well.
I was just thinking about where I get my news. I can think of two cable news channels, two network news channels (plus local television news), my local newspaper and two other newspapers I read online, NPR, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Time, Newsweek, the Atlantic, and many other sources (including a variety of opinion columnists). Heck, I even read Ann Coulter’s column — although admittedly more for amusement than for useful information.
I can’t imagine getting all my news from one source. If I did, I’d most likely find myself becoming of the same mindset as the source. Come to think of it, that may explain a lot about the Fox News audience.
August 17th, 2009 at 3:40 pmI ended up setting mine in bridge mode and getting another wireless router that actually works right.
So far its been failry reliable, then again I rarely turn the TV converter or the sparkle box of intentional ignorance on.
August 17th, 2009 at 3:45 pmI’m white and watch fox all the time. If I want lies I watch msnbc.
August 17th, 2009 at 3:46 pmI have heard they have ads, both sides of the issue, but havent seen any — Yes, I am one of those that watch nothing..
August 17th, 2009 at 3:48 pmconservative guy says: I’m white and watch fox all the time. If I want lies I watch msnbc.
Hey we have something in common, I watch nothing too…I seem to be repeating myself…
August 17th, 2009 at 3:50 pmGet out of town!
August 17th, 2009 at 3:53 pmSTOP THE NOTHINGNESS!
August 17th, 2009 at 3:55 pmwatchdog,
I was talking to backup, you disgusting piece of shit.
Don’t talk to me. I did post to you, but it was not for you to respond to. You don’t deserve the privilege of carrying on conversations with decent human beings.
August 17th, 2009 at 3:56 pmIm not in town, I am in the village looking for igmoee…there goes two now.
August 17th, 2009 at 3:57 pmAnother classic Bill Maher quote:
“We don’t need a third party. We have a center right party, and a crazy party. Democrats have moved to the right, and the right has moved into a mental hospital.” – Bill Maher
Hey trolls, whats it like being interred with the rest of the mental patients?
August 17th, 2009 at 3:59 pmFOX, has 6 to one pro-unhealthy politicos/an*lysts versus other stations pro-healthy politicos/analysts, I read.
The pro-healthers have spent more on ads than the pro-sickly folks some 3 to 1….
August 17th, 2009 at 4:05 pmsmidget says:
Hey, watchdog, tell us all again how when someone hijacked your screenname
The system won’t let you use a name exactly the same. For example, no one can use Wayne with a capital W. someone else could use lower case wayne.
This isn’t happening with watchpup’s claimed hijackings. I suspect watchpup is schizophrenic or has multiple personality disorder.
August 17th, 2009 at 4:06 pmHey trolls, whats it like being interred with the rest of the mental patients?
Troll sez: “The urine puddles are a lovely shade of gold here!”
August 17th, 2009 at 4:10 pmIt hard to believe people could be pro-sickness….and at the same time are frightened to death of the swine flu spreading…
Now, thats, truly, is mind boggling.
August 17th, 2009 at 4:15 pmI’m always amused at the troll turnout for stories that criticize FAUX. One would think that, if FAUX were on the level, they would be able to defend themselves. Of course, they lie and they know they lie so “defense” would be counterproductive.
August 17th, 2009 at 4:24 pmwatchdog says:
What I find amusing is that YOU come from the STUPIDEST people in the political arena. Actually the stupidest people on the planet. You do know you are a moron dont you?
August 17th, 2009 at 4:27 pmmissmolly. you are well informed and reasonable. If I had to choose just one news source, I’d choose getting my news from you. )
August 17th, 2009 at 4:27 pmwatchdog. If your namejack story is legitimate, I’d like to hear it.
August 17th, 2009 at 4:28 pmconservativePUNK
You are too stupid to know truth from lies. You watch Fox because you KNOW you are too stupid to think for yourself and you need to be reminded the lies you are supposed to be repeating this week. Why havent you killed yourself yet you worthless piece of dogshit?
August 17th, 2009 at 4:29 pmwatchdog says:
We should be civil to YOU while you insult us WHY? You are stupid. You ARE a piece of dogshit. You are a worthless punkass troll. You dont deserve civility. You deserve only trollstabbing nothing more

August 17th, 2009 at 4:36 pmOne of the trolls jacked my identity here a few times, a couple weeks ago. The name the troll used was identical, including capitalization. I was logged in at the time and was able to both reply and vote down the name-jacker.
watchdog :
August 17th, 2009 at 4:38 pmDoes Eric Odom pay you a salary or is Troll Central paying by the post?
if a name jack is legitimate, it seems that you would compare the two names one over the other, and check to see if they are identical. (caps, spaces, etc). If they are identical, I don’t think it can happen. That would be a question for the techs at TP.
August 17th, 2009 at 4:43 pmcut and paste the two different name plates
August 17th, 2009 at 4:44 pmA person can only trust Fox “news” if he/she is ignorant, thinks facts are stupid, and embraces lies & dishonesty. If there was ever a tribute to the intelligence & wisdom of non-whites, non-Southerners, & non-Repubs, it’s the fact that they do not trust Fox. To be fair, though, a huge %age of whites also despise Fox & do not trust their lies & distortions.
August 17th, 2009 at 4:55 pmwatchdog says:
My goodness, aren’t you the drama queen!
August 17th, 2009 at 5:02 pmOne must remember that FAUX is a network that gives air time to the likes of Becky, Kirk Cameron, and Victoria Jackson. And they keep trying to assert that Bible Spice is “smart”.

Now who’s being insulting to whites?
Or is “trailer park trash” only an insult when a progressive uses it?
August 17th, 2009 at 5:36 pmYa got the wrong definition of troll, stupid troll. Here ya go.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet)
August 17th, 2009 at 5:43 pmI like the original definition much better.
A troll is a member of a race of fearsome creatures from Norse mythology. Originally more or less the Nordic equivalents of giants, although often smaller in size, the different depictions have come to range from the fiendish giants – similar to the ogres of England (also called Trolls at times, see Troller’s Gill) – to a devious, more human-like folk of the wilderness, living underground in hills, caves or mounds. In the Faroe islands, Orkney and Shetland tales, trolls are called trows, adopted from the Norse language when these islands were settled by Vikings.
Nordic literature, art and music from the romantic era and onwards has adapted trolls in various manners – often in the form of an aboriginal race, endowed with oversized ears and noses. From here, as well as from Scandinavian fairy tales such as Three Billy Goats Gruff, trolls have achieved international recognition, and in modern fantasy literature and role-playing games, trolls are featured to the extent of being stock characters.

Only a petulant small sad little weasel would come to a site just to annoy people. You disgust decent human beings you subhuman moron.

I wonder if the two owners of KWS Ventures Inc. know that a semi-literate troll is using their corporate identity as a nickname?
August 17th, 2009 at 5:59 pmDo you think it would be worth my time sending them emails?
Nice catch, Reggie! I might send an email, or few, myself.
August 17th, 2009 at 6:06 pmCNN is only serious relative to Fox. I think it’s a sorry excuse for journalism, too.
August 17th, 2009 at 6:12 pmTo lock up the South forever, the Fox and Friends comedy show should get Doucy and Kilmeade to legally change their names to Bob Lee and Jeff Davis. Then, Fox worship would threaten the Southern Baptist convention for primacy South of the Mason-Dixon line.
August 17th, 2009 at 6:16 pmwiley,
The whole concept of cable/corporate “news” is fatally flawed, wiley. It’s entertainment and, as any study of entertainment will show, conflict sells. So…?
Where no conflict should exist, they create one. The whole idea of giving both sides of every conflict, even when one side is bullshit, equal time has turned them into sources of disinformation and confusion.
“Yellow journalism”, “tabloid news”, call it what you will; cable “news” is arguably the most harmful entity in our society today. When people are sold lies as truth? They don’t know what’s true. When they don’t know what’s true? They can’t make informed decisions. And when a society can’t make informed decisions the consequences are truly horrible.
August 17th, 2009 at 6:23 pmThis is common knowledge. FIXED Snuze was created to salve the anger pangs of the hatefilled reichwingnuts who never heard what they wanted to hear.

August 17th, 2009 at 10:30 pmThe trolls are out in force!
August 17th, 2009 at 10:31 pmLet me get this straight. All of you keep saying that only 26% of people are Republican right.
So tell me how is it then if the only people that watch Fox News are whites, southerners, and Republicans, which y’all say are the same thing, is still the number one watched news show on TV. CNN and MSNBC are 2nd and 3rd.
Not to mention that this poll isn’t even even on the people asked.
Really 1704 whites 336 blacks and 286 latinos.
Why don’t you try polling the same number of blacks and latinos as whites. Oh I know why because then it wouldn’t turn out the way you wanted it to.
Facts.
August 18th, 2009 at 12:45 amIn total day ratings, where Nickelodeon is a perennial first-place winner, Fox News placed 4th (averaging 1.3 million total viewers), CNN ranked 17th (averaging 685,000 total viewers), and MSNBC placed 26th (averaging 483,000 total viewers).
