Loyal Bushie Nicolle Wallace calls Tom Ridge a ‘wussy.’

This morning on Fox News, the pundit roundtable discussed new charges leveled by former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge that politics played a role in the issuance of terror alerts in the Bush administration. Nicolle Wallace, who served as the Communications Director for the 2004 Bush-Cheney campaign and later served as the White House communications director, complained that Ridge was making a “wussy” allegation:

We were having a very political discussion [in the 2004 campaign] about terrorism. … But that is quite different from what he very, I think in a kind wussy way, alleges. I mean, this is not a very precise attack. This is — he pondered and wondered if perhaps politics went into it. You know, it’s very fishy to me.

Tad Devine, a senior strategist on the 2004 John Kerry presidential campaign, responded, “I don’t think he’s wussy to expose this. I think he’s shown a lot of courage, and I’m glad he did it.” Watch it:

Wallace’s criticism echoes that of former Bush speechwriter David Frum. “That is the most tentative possible way of advancing an accusation,” Frum said of Ridge’s accusation. Last week, a spokesman for John Ashcroft said, “Now would be a good time for Mr. Ridge to use his emergency duct tape.”

I am sure Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld will cry like little gorls when they get hung for treason too.

  2. COProgressive says:

Geez, since when was keeping presidential election politics OUT of out Americas security a bad thing?

“Vote for Bush or Die” was a justifiable thing? I don’t think so.

  3. dbadass says:

Wussy? Oh how middle school did she LOL afterward or suggest he might be a touch-hole. I think he might consider putting his thumbs together in a nice old school”Whatever”. Talk to the hand…

  4. COProgressive says:

“I mean, this is not a very precise attack. This is — he pondered and wondered if perhaps politics went into it.”

That’s because if Ridge had come right out and said that Ashcoft and Dumbfeld WANTED the terror level risen to influence the election, it would be proof of a CRIME!

  5. Rich H says:

I knew there was a reason I changed the channel when I saw her face.

  6. Fred says:

loyal bushie defends not so loyal bushie.

We’re going to see more and more of this in the near future.

  7. Leftside Annie says:

I’ll agree with her. Tom Ridge IS a wuss.

If he wasn’t such a wuss, he would have dropped a dime on the Bush crime family *years* ago.

  8. Badmoodman says:

Tad Devine, a senior strategist on the 2004 John Kerry presidential campaign, responded, “I don’t think he’s wussy to expose this. I think he’s shown a lot of courage…”

    – - No Tad, it was wussy. Ridge IS a wuss. If he had any courage at all he would have spoken up at the time and then resigned. Devine is confusing courage with whoring to sell books.

  9. Zooey says:

I don’t have much respect for Tom Ridge, but if it comes down to taking the word of Ridge of Nicole Wallace, there’s no question that I’d go with Ridge’s word.

  10. Del Capslock says:

You know, it’s very fishy to me.

I think it’s relevant to note that everyone who has ever said anything negative about Bush has been attacked as seeking political or personal gain. Apparently it’s a foolproof tactic, because incredibly, Bush defenders are never required to address the substance of the issue.

At any rate, it’s so nice to reflect that the BUsh era is gone, and there is actually someone in the White House who not only wants to solve problems, but has the competence to do so. Brings a smile to my face.

  11. dbadass says:

    Everything is “fishy” to me…

  12. ralph the wonder llama says:

I think Ridge is a “wussie” as well, but not for the same reason Nicole Wallace thinks he’s a wussie.

  13. Wiz says:

So Fox finally gets around to covering the story that Bush used the terror alerts system for political purpose. It takes them a few days to figure out the talking point, look for the continuing trashing of Ridge on Fox to continue. The duct tape thing is funny, they are trashing the advice that the Bush administration put out there.

    Rich H says:

I knew there was a reason I changed the channel when I saw her face.

That’s good, Rich, but was there a reason you were watching it in the first place? :)

No matter. In the end, you did the right thing.

  15. Rich H says:

    Wayne,

I’m usually working Sunday mornings, but today I wasn’t and I was checking the stations to see what was on. I saw her for a few seconds and without knowing who or what she was, I got a sudden distaste in my mouth and had to change the station.

    Must be Spideysense.

  16. stateofthedivision says:

Nicole joins Fran Townsend and Andy Card as Bush apologists. They have much to apologize for.

  17. Cal Malenky says:

He is a wussy. He should have brought this up in 2004 when it could have made a difference, instead of saying ‘we don’t do politics” when accused of making the terrorist threat color code go up whenever Bush’s poll numbers were down, not 5 years later when he wanted to use it to push his book.

  18. Cal Malenky says:

    #10-
Bush defenders are now trying everything they can to make President Obama fail.
Why do they love failure so much?

  19. blue state bob says:

Is he being a poopy head too?

That such immature morons were in a position of power will never fail to amaze me as well as haunt us all for the damage they did.

  20. SoapBox says:

The “loyal Bushies” are non-credible. Period.

They lied…cheated…abused…killed (war and allowing torture)…the list goes on and on.

They’re just worried that Georgie “The Village Idiot” isn’t going to get to slap his name on an airport.

  21. Rich H says:

    blue state,

It’s amazing isn’t it. If Obama want’s to see his approval ratings soar again and be guaranteed a second term, he just needs to push through single payer AND prosecute the Bush administration.

  22. Xisithrus says:

I find her uncredible by her own words, first she talks about what went on in these meetings then says she wasnt their while talking about ‘facts’

    Sheezus Cripes Nicolle.

  23. Xisithrus says:

Shorter Nicolle: I know what went on in these private meetings but wasnt there.

Seriously, has she got one of them tin foil limbic Limbaugh truth detectors planted in her paleomammalian cranium?

  24. Badger says:

IMHO..EVERYTHING the Bush Administration did was Political.

Rove wasn’t called Bush’s Brain for nothing.

Tom Ridge wasn’t Stating the Obvious…he was Confirming the Obvious.

  25. benji85 says:

Personally I don’t see the reason to publicly announce the terror threat levels, unless you wanted to put fear into people.

The last time I flew I wasn’t paying too much attention to general announce made in the terminal, I got my flight and was everything fine. When I landed I was in the bathroom and they are announcing the threat levels and it hit me that oh yeah we are supposed to be scared of other people on a plane.

  26. NinerFan says:

Hey, Wallace wasn’t at any of the meetings, but she did dress Sarah Palin up in $150K worth of nice clothes. Doesn’t that make her an expert on these matters?

  27. SmoothCriminal says:

Good gosh who do these people think we are?

Apparently, Ms. Wallace was and is blind to the facts. These are not facts because Ridge says that they are – they are just simple facts of what went on during the Bush years.

  28. LibertyLover says:

Tad Devine, a senior strategist on the 2004 John Kerry presidential campaign, responded, “I don’t think he’s wussy to expose this. I think he’s shown a lot of courage, and I’m glad he did it.”

What courage? Had he exposed it at the time, now, THAT would have been courage! Waiting until after one’s job is over and one needs money from a tell-all book, takes hardly any courage at all.

  29. LibertyLover says:

Badmoonman — ya beat me to it… great minds yada yada yada. :)

  30. stratonike says:

I love how simply stating the fact of what happened becomes an attack.

It’s always “are you fur us, or agin us?” with republicans, regardless of truth.

  31. Virtual Pebble says:

Of course Ridge’s assertion was semi-wussy. He’s a pol, not a fracking bridge burner. If he’s really been up for doing the right thing, he would have just that the “alert levels” were all about politics and not much more when he resigned. But no, he waited until he had his book contract and could see which way the wind was blowing. Big effing deal.

The idiot apologists who are now mad-dogging him ought to put down their talking points and figure out whether trying to discredit Ridge is really in the country’s best interest. I happen to think not; I think the people who were stoking the fear factor for eight years for monetary gain and power need to be brought to account. Ridge is just a slightly late messenger.

  32. Wiz says:

So if Ridge is releasing a book next month about stuff that happened in 2004, then he must have been working on it last year when McCain was considering him for VP. Or Ridge had the book written previously and was holding it up to keep his VP possibility alive. It certainly seems that Ridge while losing faith in the GOP, is still willing to avoid truth if it could mean a little personal gain like becoming vice president. Now he finally gets around to letting the truth out so he can feel a little self rightous and wash some scum off at the same time, 4 years too late.

  33. dasm says:

Nicole Wallace is a wussy, & needs to put said duct tape right across her mouth.

  34. dasm says:

Republicans live for failure. They proved that during Bush’ 8 years, and are now extending their failure into Obama’s presidency. They totally show their dishonesty, hatred of their country, partisanship, & total lack of any facts on any issue each day, each time they open their mouths. Are they really that stupid? Lat’s face it, they are either really, really stupid, or really ignorant & totally uninformed, or so hateful towards Obama they’ll destroy the U.S. to gratify their hatred & racism. In any case, they are hateful, bigoted, racist losers, not statesmen in any sense of the word.

  35. MapleStreet says:

“Wussie” may be the correct term if she is implying that he caved in his principles to serve the Bushies.

OTOH – he knew the American people were being sold out and said nothing. Admittedly a difficult situation with extra-ordinary rendition being an option.

But the fact that he said nothing made him complicit in the actions is not responsible. So there are worse terms than “Wussie” that may apply.

  36. kwsventures says:

How to drum up free publicity to sell books?

  37. Levi the Dungbeetle says:

Or how to save your soul from eternal damnation….

  38. whatizz says:

The only thing Tom is doing is telling his story 5 years after the fact. He was dancing the dance and riding in limos. How much credit can we give the Bush White House for keeping people in line?

  39. kfdan says:

Ridge’s revelation that Bush used this “terrorist alert” to further his political game in such a dishonest way just goes to show that the GOP will use any means to keep and project power! Bush and his cronies are international criminals … that’s why they will not leave US soil. They would be arrested in Europe for violating the Geneva Convention on torture. These criminals may need to be taken to court in foreign countries who’s citizens were killed or tortured because the US government will not prosecute them! Rumsfield learned this in France and had to get out of the country … fast !
Ridge may be covering his own tracks to cover his own arse but that’s the way it goes among rats when they know history, or possibly a foreign court, will convict them of crimes!

  40. Wiz says:

Ever worked somewhere will there are a couple of really over the top people who make everyone around them miserable. This is what the GOP is to the rest of the country. It has a meanness and negativity about it that is borders on insanity. It has a huge component of dishonesty that if your were experiencing it in from someone in your life you would be calling a psychologist. If the level of dishonesty were being experienced in your workplace you would fire the person if you were boss, or be looking for new job if you were not. but in the political field we have a thing called the Republican pary whose lies are tolerated and even rewarded.

    What a daft cunt.

This woman has trouble constructing a coherent sentence.
What a collection of dimwits the Bush gang turned out to be or maybe they’re idiot savants as they managed to lie us into an invasion, let their cronies loot the treasury and pull off one of the biggest transfers of wealth in history.

Yet, in many ways their mentality is on a junior high level.

    kwsventures says:

Why dont YOU write a book. How to be an ignorant brainwashed moron would be where your expertise lies

God you are stupid. Dont you ever look in the mirror and just cry about how stupid and pathetic you are? You DO know you are a brainwashed pathetic piece of garbage dont you? Are you too stupid to even get that basic fact? I flush things every day better and smarter than you will ever be you worthless braindead cretin
