Andrew Breitbart Unleashes A Torrent Of Invective Against Sen. Ted Kennedy’s Legacy On Twitter

Andrew BreitbartEarly this morning, news broke that Sen. Ted Kennedy had passed away after serving in the U.S. Senate for nearly 50 years. Soon after, conservative commentator Andrew Breitbart began a sustained assault on Kennedy’s memory, tweeting “Rest in Chappaquiddick.”

Over the course of the next three hours, Breitbart unapologetically attacked Kennedy, calling him a “villain,” “a big ass motherf@#$er,” a “duplicitous bastard” and a “prick.” “I’ll shut my mouth for Carter. That’s just politics. Kennedy was a special pile of human excrement,” wrote Breitbart in one tweet.

When Politico’s Michael Calderone highlighted Breitbart’s attacks in an article called, “Not all Kennedy critics hold fire,” a pleased Breitbart tweeted:

Andrew Breitbart tweets about Politico covering his tweets.

When a fellow conservative tweeted to Breitbart asking him not to treat Kennedy like they believe some on the left treated the passing of Tony Snow and Ronald Reagan, Breitbart responded “How dare you compare Snow & Reagan to Kennedy! Why do you grant a BULLY special status upon his death? This isnt lib v con.” Despite his claim that his attacks weren’t about “lib v. con,” Breitbart repeatedly justified them in ideological terms.

“Look, this man was granted absolution for nothing. Class, life station played a part but PARTY was everything. GOP couldnt get away with it,” complained Breitbart in one tweet. “IF a GOP possesses 1/100 of human failings of T. Kennedy he/she is TOAST,” he claimed in another. “In this moment I cant but recognize absolute backwardness of media & society. Bush=EVIL. Ted Kennedy=SAINT. Im gonna keep fighin’, folks,” Breitbart said in another tweet.

Update Megan Carpentier has rounded up other conservative Twitter attacks on Kennedy.

Breitbart is a neo-con hack whose comrades backed the disastrous Iraq mess, while keeping their own families far away from the fighting.

    Who cares about Breitbart?

He is just a smelly heep of dog doo.

  2. mary lacewing says:

This fellow certainly has a way with words – NOT!

    He sounds like a psychopath.

  3. Xisithrus says:

At least have the decency to let the man be buried and for his family to have closure Breitbart before you go off half cocked and fully spiteful. OK?

  4. Jackie says:

Another commentator trying to make a name for himself in hopes of getting someone to pay him big bucks like Rush Limbaugh. Being Racist and Evil pays well by the Republican Party. John Boehner is willing to give money for any and all racist comments and attacks. Rush is getting so fat he might not be around long so Breitbart is looking to replace him or even Glen Beck.

  5. P.D. says:

Can these guys sink any lower? Limpballs gave himself kudos for predicting Kennedy wouldn’t live to see the Health Care Bill passed. this guy is just a slime. God, my head is spinning. The Shock Jock who called the victims of Katrina ‘debris’ It just goes on and on. Decency is dead my friends.

  6. YoungSloshee says:

Further proof that those who scream for Freedom of Speech most usually just want to justify sounding like A-Holes.

  7. Xisithrus says:

Breitbart, the man is gone from this earth and the things your saying are moot and for GODS sake, dont let your emotions run your mouth.

  8. marcella says:

    What a dick.

RIP Ted. I miss you already.

  9. evangenital says:

What passes for “conservatism” these days is uncouth behavior, loutishness, ignorance, bullying and anti-intellectualism.

Is it any wonder that the repiggies are being further reduced to a screaming minority of bitter and twisted psychotics?

  10. SoapBox says:

    DUHHHH!

Not a surprise at all that these scumbags would begin there hate attacks…nope, not even surprised.

It simply shows again, that there is something wrong with these hate and fear mongers that spew vomit.

  11. had enough says:

Laura Ingraham was also showing her true pig colors – literally bashing T Kennedy and he is not even buried yet.

I will bet this attitude and style is in the talking point marching orders for today brought to us by the GNOP.

This crude ill mannered behavior will certainly bring down the approval ratings of these freaks.

  12. evangenital says:

Please keep Breitbart’s comments front and center during the upcoming local elections this fall.

I will not vote for any repiggie, no matter how nice they might sound, or how pretty their family picture looks.

The whole repiggie party is essentially on par with Breitbart and the rest of the neo-con trash.

  13. SP Biloxi says:

It’s been less than 24 hours since the announcement of Senator Kennedy’s death and the attacks against Kennedy from the wingnuts are arising. The barn door was left open and the wingnuts are running wild. Do wingnuts have the sense of common decency of humanity?? I think not. Senator Kennedy’s legacy will live on in this country and around the world after I am gone and Breitbart will still be a nimrod and his 15 minute fame in the spotlight will be here today and gone tomorrow.

  14. LividLib says:

    never heard of the guy.
just who is this andrew beerfart arsshole?

  15. MarkD says:

The GOP would be toast? Really?

So Laura Bush was toast after her DUI killed her boyfriend?

Rumsfeld was toast after giving Saddam the gas he used to kill tens of thousands, and then using that same weaponry as an excuse to kill hundreds of thousands?

Reagan was toast after funding Central American death squads by selling missile technology to Iran?

Rush was toast after being convicted for drug crimes, and being found with someone else’s Viagra during a trip with a bunch of guys to an island known for underage prostitution?

Vitter, Sanford, Ensign … all the rest are toast?

    Did I miss something somewhere?

  29. Xisithrus says:

I find Breitbarts rants to be nithing more than sensationalism.

    PASS!

  30. Dr. Hussein Matt says:

    Erick Erickson:

I can’t say that I’ll miss him…Ted Kennedy supported the expansion of the welfare state and a culture of dependency on government, made all the more tragic given how ensnared his life was to dependency. He should have known better given his own life and that of his family.<

    Right Wing Nuthouse:

No doubt Kennedy the man was a despicable cad, a notorious roue, and, until late in life, a certified drunk.

    Powerline:

We live in Edward Kennedy’s America not only in the consequential legislation that he sponsored and saw through the Senate, but also in the afterlife of the vulgar political sham on which Senator Kennedy relied to defeat the nomination of Judge Bork.

    RedState:

It is traditional, upon the passing of an important and famous person – however controversial – to find some good words to say. This is not an easy task in the case of Ted Kennedy, a man whose personal life ranged from alcoholism to debauchery to sexual harrassment to (sadly, uncharged) second-degree murder, and whose public career entailed the embrace of nearly every foolish, ruinous and cruel political idea of the past five decades and whose most enduring legacy is installing the bitterly polarized modern Supreme Court confirmation process.

  32. P.D. says:

These people are practically dancing on this poor mans grave for God’s sake! Remember when that one senator had a brain anyrism and Liddy Dole was practically salivatiing the fact he wouldn’t be able to come back to the Senate? WTF is wrong with these people?! Back in the day, people thought the Republican Party had strong leaders, that is way they believed in them. Now, these days, they have been replaced by cruel, indifferent, power hungry dirt bags who care nothing for the average American. Disgusting.

  36. Dr. Hussein Matt says:

Here is yet more from the reich-wing teabaggers:

    Roger Kimball:

Edward M. Kennedy,”…“Liar, cheat, drunk, philanderer, and — let’s not forget — inadvertent murderer.” The tsunami of sentimental pap about Kennedy is already churning, gushing, rushing to inundate the public with a nauseating and untruthful fairy tale about the “Lion of the Senate.” The Lyin’ in the Senate is more like it.

    The Anchoress:

It’s entirely possible that what Kennedy’s death will really do is bring into stark relief the fact that under Obamacare, this overweight 77 year-old man with liking for the drink would probably have faced treatment rationing and an offer for “physician aid-in-dying”.

    Dan Riehl:

Given word of his passing, the Senate, as predicted by Rush Limbaugh, is considering re-naming the health care bill in Ted “The Liberal Liar Lion of the Senate” Kennedy’s honor, while also amending it to include mandatory long distance swimming lessons, as well as CPR and breath control classes for all Americans.

    Roger L. Simon:

Kennedy left the scene of a fatal accident for which he was at least partly responsible. Then he used his extraordinary power to get off, spending the rest of his career in pseudo-remorse, playing the most liberal of Senators. It was always an act to me, even when I agreed with him politically. This was not a life well lived.

  37. Hoodathunk says:

Tracy__5 says: So you think it’s OK for the “Left” to go down to this guy’s level?

There is no down to this level. There is only an idea that what Senator Kennedy stood for for almost 50 years is less than American. If anyone thinks this is so, congratulations. You have succeeded in destruction.

    Be proud.

  38. P.D. says:

Conservative@36, Why don’t you leave this site? You won’t be missed. As for kennedy, he was a champion of the Average American. You? You are just a boot lick for the Repug Party.

  39. Dr. Hussein Matt says:

  40. kasinca says:

The wingnuts hang onto sins of forty years ago while trying to act morally superior. They have three leaders today who have moral failings and refuse to admit they have done anything wrong! The Senator repented and admitted his failings. An alcoholic who admits he has a problem and corrects the problem is normally deemed recovering. The difference in the rethugs is that they can never admit they have a problem. They can never admit they have failed. It is as simple as this: If you cannot admit you have done something wrong, how do you expect to be forgiven? If God knows you have failed but you cannot admit it, how do you expect him to forgive you? Rethugs need to learn humility.

  51. kasinca says:

The right hates the Kennedy family because they are everything the greedy GOP is not. The right wing is not for helping anyone and the Kennedy tradition was to always consider those who had less than they did. The lived a life of considering the needs of the least of us. They showed compassion. They hated the Senator after he went to So. Africa during Apartheid and came back and got sanctions against them for the discrimination and it was against Ronnie Raygun’s wishes. Kennedy was a good man. Everyone has human frailties. Being able to recognize our own shortcomings is a strength not recognizable is most republicans.

Reagan kept the cold war going 8 years after the Soviets were waving a white flag so he could waste money on weapons making his friends richer. You people are such fools. The history books will show that Reagan was the most overrated president ever. That GHW Bush was complicit in all the wrong doing starting with the JFK assassination if not before. That GW Bush was the worst president ever. AND it will note the contributions made on behalf of the real people of this country by Senator Kennedy. And it really doesn’t matter what a brain dead dittohead like your or Breitfart says because you are both scum.

Yeah, sublimated guilt over the consequences of one’s ruinous political philosophy might tend to do that.

    BrianFL says:
There are a lot of reasonable Republicans, but it seems like their voices are being drowned out by rabble-rousers and bigots like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, or Andrew Breitbart.

Most reasonable Republicans gave up the party some time ago. That’s why only 20% of Americans admit to being a Republican and that’s down from 20% last month. At this rate they will be in the low teens by the end of the year. And being the vile people they are by spewing hatred at someone who has died is certainly not going to help their party in any way.

“That really pisses off the GOP who care nothing about their fellow citizens, unless that citizen happens to be wealthy.”

I find that rather odd considering conservatives tend to give to charity more on a regular basis than liberals.

The only reason why the rich give to charity is for a tax write off. I also suspect that any statistic you can come up with says that includes money given to churches as “charity” and since Republicans seem to be very generous with their mega churches, that would really skew any statistic that says who gives the most.

And how many rich people do you know who dedicate their life to helping people less rich than they are? I know of none.

  105. Hoodathunk says:

I love how the Reagonites take credit for the collapse of the Soviet Union. The USSR was slowly collapsing because it was trying to use military and economic pressure on too many countries while their own country was dying.

    Sound familiar.

The USSR was doomed, already dying when Reagan took office. If Carter had another term, the collapse might have been more beneficial to the rest of the world. As it was, the government collapsed and Caponism set the rebuild because the US was too busy thumping their chest.

  106. Hoodathunk says:

And for anyone with even a modicum of interest in history, the same process that led to the collapse of the USSR is very active here in the US.

  107. Serg909 says:

This is what the GOP now stands for double standards and rabid hatred for any opposition. Ted Kennedy never claimed to be a moral standard barer just an American doing what he could for the common good I never trusted Snow and didn’t get why Reagan was such a conservative hero when the larger GOP and “moral majority” hated him but their passing mattered to not just their political followers or detractors but their families and I don’t feel that those who oppose should die nor do I celebrate their deaths but this is what we have a rabid unreasonable group that celebrate the death of a Senator that is well respected and loved. I’m done with the conservatives they hold no-further interest for me

The final collapse of the Soviet Union was due to ignoring the economic turmoil at home, believing that military intervention would bring other countries under their belief umbrella and that spending money generated at home was best invested in their overseas commitments.

  112. Shayne says:

    http://www.independent.org/newsroom/article.asp?id=2416
Ronald Reagan also was popular and charismatic and is overrated by the public and experts alike. During his presidency, public opinion polls regularly found Reagan more popular than his policies.

After leaving office, he attained almost mythical status among conservatives and even won praise from liberal historians and journalists, despite selling arms to sponsors of terrorism to ransom hostages and his secret undermining of the major remaining constitutional power of Congress—the power to fund federal activities—during the Iran-Contra affair.

Reagan also cut and ran from Lebanon after a suicide bomber killed 241 U.S. service personnel. And he doubled the size of the federal government, most of it—contrary to popular belief—with increased domestic spending.

Yet Reagan’s carefully cultivated conservative image—a western cowboy on horseback, funny for a man from Illinois—has endured, mostly because, as luck would have it, the overextended and economically dysfunctional Soviet Union collapsed soon after Reagan left office.

Here then, are the results in the Over-Rated category. As you see there is a clear 1,2,3 followed by a pair at 4 and 5 and another couple at 6 and 7. You will also note that the top ten is in fact a top eleven. A reminder: ballots were scored on a 3,2,1 points system. If no order of preference was specified, each nominee was awarded 2 points. The results are given thus: total number of points collected, then, in brackets, each presidents’ ranking in the Wall Street Journal’s 2005 survey of historians.

    THE MOST OVER-RATED PRESIDENTS:

    1. 111 (6) Ronald Reagan
    2. 92 (15) John F Kennedy
    3. 67 (11) Woodrow Wilson
    4. 45 (22) Bill Clinton

    6. 29 (10) Andrew Jackon
    7. 23 (4) Thomas Jefferson

Once again, the U.S. sets a record. A new all-time low in human relations. Disrespect, blatant racism, deceit, wanton greed, lying criminals in high office, unpunished war crimes, illegal wars, torture, religious zealotry and intollerance are just a few of America’s best known qualities of today. It’s only going to get worse because those in power do nothing to quell the hollow fears of the irrational dregs of the far right. But, we can all rest easy because we’re the greatest nation on the Earth, right? I guess by our present standards all other countries should be a living hell.

So for all you conservatards out there that are against the betterment of your fellow countrymen, that equates to you being against your country. Senator Kennedy wasn’t perfect but, who among us is? At least he tried to help all of us have a better life, a better country, a more perfect union.

  127. Rich H says:

The Bush family had no cause that they as a family advanced other than the interests of the wealthy and corporate interests. When history is written, it will be kinder to Ted Kennedy than GWB.

As far as I can tell, the only research done on charitable giving in terms of demographics was done by Arthur Brooks in his book, “Who Really Cares?”. One piece left out by conservatives in touting this study is this:

Most of the difference in giving among conservatives and liberals gets back to religion. Religious liberals give nearly as much as religious conservatives, Mr. Brooks found. And secular conservatives are even less generous than secular liberals.

Concerns about Brooks’ data and the way he used it, including the fact that he apparently ignores “moderates” entirely, thus skewing his data were raised by Jim Lindgren at the time, but it doesn’t appear that anyone has followed up over the years, and the conservative press and blogosphere gleefully touts the study, although few probably even bothered to read the book.

It should be remembered that Brooks is the president of the American Enterprise Institute, which has a clear hyperconservative agenda.

The methodologies of the studies used to make those claims are more than flawed they are ridiculous. The one study only checked specific charities. Well one of the groups I give a lot of money too the Heifer foundation is international and wouldnt have shown up. Also it doesnt take into accout money given to local charities or people just on the street. The other study was laughable they put a kiosk for the Salvation army in North Dakota and one in San Fransisco. This was shortly after the Salvation Army had a very public fight to be able to discriminate against gays and because more money was given to the kiosk in North Dakota they thought that showed something relevant. The studies are a joke and I find them counterintuitive

When finally he himself dies, no one will notice, since his curriculum vitae will only consist of his efforts to detract from the real accomplishments of his betters.

Senator Kennedy made a series of bad judgments in a space of a few hours about 40 years ago. For whatever reason he was never convicted of any crime. The few times he ever mentioned his accident, and let’s be crystal clear that no one has ever established it was anything but an accident, he expressed profuse remorse.

Since that accident, Senator Kennedy has been a tireless and unapologetic advocate for his chosen causes. Even when I’ve disagreed with him I’ve never thought he was being illogical or driven by dogma (Trust me. That’s VERY high praise from me.).

Among his many accomplishments was his ability to bring Democrats to vote, for better or worse, in favor of Republican proposals. He had an ability to get things done so it’s not surprising that many regret he didn’t do more to stop Bushco but, he wasn’t an obstructionist.

Perhaps that’s why the Reichwhiners hate him so? Their, self-proclaimed, outrage over a car accident doesn’t wash when one looks at the records of some of their heroes.

Nope. It has nothing to do with the damn accident. What has always had their undies in a bunch is that Senator Kennedy had a (D) after his name and he made government, for better or worse, actually do things. And that’s the unforgivable sin to a Reichwhiner. They only follow those who proclaim that government can’t work and revile those who make it work despite their fearful protests.

Since Teddy’s diagnosis last year, we’ve seen the courage with which he battled his illness. And while these months have no doubt been difficult for him, they’ve also let him hear from people in every corner of our nation and from around the world just how much he meant to all of us. His fight has given us the opportunity we were denied when his brothers John and Robert were taken from us: the blessing of time to say thank you — and goodbye.

Funny that you both claim to be amused by hypocrites, while hypocrtically admitting to enjoy aiding Grammar Nazis.
Actually I only commented on the freakdom2010 troll’s spelling and puncutation–not his/her/its grammar. In any case, you are not the first troll to call me a “Grammar Nazi;” the term only reveals the inferiority complex people like you have about your lack of education.

    amusedbyhypocrites says:

    To unamusinghypocrite,

Whether a comma is needed after actually is debatable. However, when you are addressing a person, such as below, a comma is definitely needed between the end of the statement and the name of the person you are addressing. I will not apologize here because I am not nitpicking, nitwit. By the way, in American English “nitpicking” is not hyphenated. And “hypocrtically” is the adverb form of “hypocritical”–sorry you haven’t heard of it, unamusing hypocrite.
I have no intention of giving you my real full name. However, if you googled it, you would find dozens of pages referring to my publications–none of them in a vanity press. But if that is what you want to think, it really does not matter to me, as the only thing “poignant” here is your ignorant arrogance.

Just how hard did you work that editor, Lora

  281. CKPhilly says:

    lilrascal

I know you are but what am I!

    Grow up, monkey.

  282. amusedbyhypocrites says:

    To CKPhilly:

No, cuz, I meant exactly what I said. “Lovely sentiments such as yours is exactly why…” (I noticed that you took the part of the quotation you used out of context). The predicate nominative “why” is the same as saying “the reason (why)”. Subject-verb agreement requires the subject (or, in this case, the predicate nominative) closest to the verb to agree with that verb. You wouldn’t say, “The reason why ARE…”, would you?

Now, being a hatemonger, I won’t nicely imitate you & call you an IDIOT!!!! (nice use of caps, there. Ever engage in ‘net conversation much?). Rather, I will simply say that you forgot your rules of grammar taught in elementary school.

I’m sorry that you feel that all independent voters are racist, war-mongering, cheating, extremist, eavesdropping, law breaking (sic) phonies”.

If these posts are indicative of the blood pressure level of radicals (as well as their lack of adherence to facts), I fear that you are an endangered species.

  283. jurassicpork says:

“Second, with the logic the democrats are trying to push does that mean if Kennedy was a pervert who preyed on children that we should pass a law in Congress making preying on children legal burun estetigi?”

No, in that case it would be named after Mark Foley.

  284. amusedbyhypocrites says:

    Hey, Lora…

    “Clearly filthy”???

Dudette, I wasn’t the one who was bragging about working the editor hard!

By the way…evidently your fevered imagination equates “work” with sex.

You really should get out more.

  285. jurassicpork says:

“This is NOT an honorable family: Edward’s father was a bootlegger…”

Better than his grandfather being, oh, say a Nazi financier making money off concentration camp slave labor, someone who then tried to overthrow the government in a fascist takeover. How do you like them apples, moron?

  286. lilrascal says:

    CK Philly,

Wow, a post where you didnt use the word racist…congrats.

  287. amusedbyhypocrites says:

    To the Inestimable Lora:

Just to actually throw in a little substance (not that it will be appreciated here), the state of education in the “US” (sic) is “currently so bad” because petty bureaucrats keep interfering with the teaching process…which is one reason why over half of all teachers leave the profession during the first five years of their short ‘careers’.

I am currently retired from teaching after 30 years in the trenches. Perhaps those who reside in the ivory towers and comment from afar should get involved & try to improve public education.

  288. Lora says:

    To unamusinghypocrite,

Nor did I boast about working the editor hard. Give your joke a rest already; it’s getting stale.
Anyway, I am glad you learned here to put a comma between your statement and the person you’re addressing. But unless you have anything to say about the actual topic of this thread, Senator Kennedy or Breihart, don’t expect me to reply any more. I am, in fact, about to go out.

    amusedbyhypocrites says:
    Hey, Lora…
    “Clearly filthy”???
Dudette, I wasn’t the one who was bragging about working the editor hard!

  289. amusedbyhypocrites says:

    To lilrascal:

CK Philly may not have used the word “racist”, but he did call you a “monkey”.

And we all know what that term is ‘code language’ for.

Time to shake out the hoods & braid the ropes!

  290. amusedbyhypocrites says:

    Poor Luckless Lora.

You didn’t realize that the post addressed to “You’re Cute When You’re Angry” Lora was assigning a new nickname (you’ll get a new one every post to correspond with the alert color level of your last missive). How in the world could you think that someone would be addressing you (thus requiring a comma)? That would make no sense whatsoever (it would sound as if the post was addressed to a third party & being forwarded to you). Tsk, tsk, Lora Darling. Sloppy reading.

Are you certain that you have edited publications? What were their print runs? Did anyone besides your relatives receive a copy?

  291. CKPhilly says:

    amusedbyhypocrites

Has anyone besides YOUR relatives received your wee-wee? Isn’t that how they do things in your parts? Oh, sheep too, right? Do they count as relatives?

  292. amusedbyhypocrites says:

You are so funny, Lora. You keep making mistakes. For instance, you refer to “the actual topic of this thread, Senator Kennedy or Breihart,….” Is that one topic or two? You should either say, “topics” or you should say “Senator Kennedy AND Breihart” (thus linking the two names into one topic). If you want to nit-pick (the hyphen is correct, despite your preference), your wording would suggest to someone unfamiliar with the personages that both Kennedy and Breihart were U.S. (not US) senators.

By the way, why didn’t you point out the lack of commas in “Luckless Lora”, “Inestimable Lora”, etc. if you truly thought that you were being addressed (hey, if you don’t like your nickname, just say so…don’t ascribe it to a non-existent punctuation error)? Try reading it out loud…”To the Inestimable, Lora”. Do you understand now (I can be patient and explain again; remember, I taught middle school).

  293. amusedbyhypocrites says:

Hey, CK Philly…you’re one funny dude (or dudette)!

I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.

Do you mail your wee to people? Our local UPS, FedEx, and USPS people frown on that (nothing liquid, fragile, hazardous, or perishable). I would think that your “wee” would qualify on all counts.

Unless you disguise it as part of French dip for your cheesesteak.

  294. Lora says:

    To unamusinghypocrite,

“The New Lexicon Webster’s Dictionary of the English Language” lists “US” as an acceptable abbreviation of the “United States,” smarty-pants ex-teacher. Who is the Grammar/Spelling Nazi here? It also seems that you can’t make up your petty mind whether I am in an Ivory Tower or uneducated, because you simply want to throw out whatever insult you think works best.
And yes, I have edited publications, one of which was the one of the publisher’s best sellers that particular year. Frankly, I don’t care whether you believe me or not, because I have no intention of listing my real full name here.

    amusedbyhypocrites says:

    To the Inestimable Lora:
Just to actually throw in a little substance (not that it will be appreciated here), the state of education in the “US” (sic)

  295. Bigrcube says:

Andrew Breitbart is what El Rushbo BOSS Limbaugh and Glenn Beck scrape off the bottoms of their shoes when they STEP in it while walking the dog.

  296. CKPhilly says:

    amusedbyhypocrites

Shouldn’t you be whacking off to old re-runs of the Glenn Beck show right about now? Isn’t that your normal morning routine before you take your sister on a date to the rodeo?

  297. Lora says:

    To unamusinghypocrite,

You seem to have a lot of free time. Sorry, but I have better things to do than quibble with you endlessly. So I will say in my somewhat polite Japanese “saynonara, aho?(??????????”?(I wrote the transcription in Roman letters, as the Japanese characters are not likely to come out.)

  298. CKPhilly says:

awww, bye-bye amusedbyhypocrites! Thanks for the entertainment! Have fun with Glenn and your sister today! Toodaloo!

  299. Allwx says:

Judging from this, I am confirmed in my avoidance of all rightwing nutbag media. I never heard of this guy until today.

  300. ArBee says:

I have no particular love for anybody in the old Kennedy Clan but give the family time to grieve then do your attacking. Personally I don’t see a reason for the family being treated as royalty by the people of the Northeast but this is up to them. They have the right to subordinate themselves to whomever thay choose. Clintons included. There are many more legitimate reasons to poo than to praise but save that for later.

  301. Leftside Annie says:

Lora – kudos to you!! Awesome smackdown.

Trolls just plain suck, don’t they?

    ~A (another editor/writer/grammararian)

  302. Lora says:

    Thanks, Annie.
It is interesting how the unamusinghypocrite troll disappeared after I actually cited Webster’s, isn’t it? I only regret not doing so earlier.

  303. Purple State says:

Lora, if you need someone cursed out in Japanese, I will gladly rip a new ana in this guy’s oshiri.

  304. flitemedic says:

Ok to those of you who think cons yell a lot….i’m gonna speak softly….ted kennedy was a pile of do nothing serving special interests eg…baby killers,gays,anti-gun activists,…..and on and on….whatever would keep his lard butt in office….and to reply to the thought that the GOP needs great white hope…won’t need one the nigerian national will/is slowly going under

  305. dodobobo says:

Stay classy Breitbart/ What a hater. This guy probably has not been laid (by a women) in years that he did not pay for.

Glad to see his picture. He is well on his way to being another bald, fat white guy with an irritability disorder secondary to low Testosterone

  306. Luiesmom says:

I am comforted that a man I regard highly is so hated by a man I feel is the lowest of humanity. It means that Sen. Kennedy was doing everything right. Bless him.

  307. thecp29 says:

The comments made by this person are so typical of what the GOP and far right wing have become. They are angry racists jealous of a black man as POTUS and will carry that anger as far as they can even toting pistols, rifles to POTUS meetings while just a short year ago they would have called protesters with guns attending POTUS meetings terrorists and Un-American.

The examples of Newt, Rush, Beck, Orally, Palin, Cheney, etc should be an education for all Americans. Some of these people are unhinged, have lost their grasp on reality, and obviously should not be taken seriously.

They are also angry of people such as Ted Kennedy, contributions to America noteworthy, acknowledged leader by both sides of aisle. What does the GOP have? They have no leaders and are in fear of Rush. How far the once powerful have fallen.

They are also fearful that in 10 years whites in America will be the minority with Hispanic, Latino, Asians the majority. I welcome the change and so do all current minorities who have been savagely mishandled by the white majority for far too long. Soon all people will be treated equally in this country beginning with Health Care reform.

  308. Purple State says:

    flitermedic, you’re talking too softly.

    We can’t hear you.

  309. Allen says:

This gentlemans comments are right on the mark. Ted Kennedy was a prime example of rich liberal politics. Kennedy was a drunken murderer that if he were not rich would have been put in prison. He was a drunken womanizer throughout his political career that took financial support from any entity he could take money from. It is all history and is there to see, if you will just look. I am not a republican and I am old enough to remember the truth. Money and influence can get you anything but death will eventually claim even the rich and powerful. The world is a better place without people like Ted Kennedy.

  310. Cal Malenky says:

I hope A-Hole Breitbart dies a long, painful death. Preferably starting soon.

  311. mdelprete says:

Republicans are evil pieces of trash!
The best way to deal with them is to stop reporting the garbage that comes out of their mouths.
When President Obama gets healthcare passed, Kennedy will be dancing in his grave.
    Rest in piece Edward Kennedy.

  312. susanm says:

Well our Mr. Breitbart has given America yet another shining example of “Republican Rhetoric” and the ignorance that will someday render the “grand old party” invalid. To quote Mr. Breitbart…he is a “pile of human excrement” with a mouth…and not very special at that.

  313. Purple State says:

    Um, Allen?

Money and influence didn’t claim Ted Kennedy’s life.

Cancer doesn’t care if you are rich or poor, powerful or weak.

It doesn’t care how you voted in the elections or how pure a life you have led.

It’s a disease that knows no stereotypes.

And it took Ted Kennedy’s life.

  314. everydayguy says:

I am not going to read all the comments because I am just to furious to go through the 300 plus before mine.

Laura Bush killed her boyfriend by driving her car at a high rate of speed, running through a stop sign with which she was well familiar and T-boning the car said boyfriend was in. I can only hope he died instantly because it must have been horrific.

She was never charged, she was never given a blood-alcohol test, and the boyfriend’s name has not been mentioned by reporters, journalists, pundits, commentators every time her name came out of their yap.

LAURA BUSH KILLED HER BOYFRIEND AND GOT AWAY SCOT-FREE.

LAURA BUSH TOOK ANOTHER HUMAN LIFE AND WALKED AWAY.

    LAURA BUSH IS A MURDERER.

And of course, also completely banned from polite conversation is the fact of GEORGE W. BUSH’S WELL-KNOWN COCAINE USE IN THE SACRED WHITE HOUSE WHEN HIS FATHER WAS PRESIDENT.

And of course, no one is allowed to mention the fact that George W. Bush was AWOL from his National Guard service or the fact that it was through his father’s political connections that he was given that opportunity in lieu of, you know, actually serving his country with his life, unlike so many thousands of other Americans who were shipped off to Viet Nam, many never to return alive, whether they liked it or not.

Yes, let’s talk about how terrible Teddy Kennedy was. I’m sure it made Republicans a lot uncomfortable when he stood up in the Senate and pointed out what disgusting little toads they were for opposing a raise of two dollars fifteen cents over two years for minimum-wage workers who not only had received no raise in the previous ten years but whose purchasing power at that minimum wage had declined significantly over that period of time.

But, no, let’s talk about Chappaquidick because that makes Republicans feel like heroes.

I would like to say a very bad word but I will have respect for the thread and refrain. I think you all know what that word is.

  317. susanm says:

    Bravo Karen Marie!!!

  318. Mark701 says:

Idiots like Breitbart are not speaking to the public at large because no one takes them serioulsy. His comments are directed at the slavering, gun toting, hard drinking, bible thumping, flag waving, gay hating, xenophobic, paranoid incompetents that infest the hard-whacko-right like sucking parasitic worms. Let him rant, maybe he’ll pop a blood vessel in his eye or something.

  319. tedbohne says:

Republicans are a breed of animal all by themselves. Anything rotten, ugly, sorry, odious, odoriferous, low life, no account, despicable, wrecked, beneath contempt, bald faced lie, can be traced to republican filth. Democrats have some things they should have to pay for, and you can be sure that some hypocrite republican will make mountains out of molehills when that happens. In the last century, the repigs presided over every economic catastrophe, plotted against FDR, just picked the wrong Marine to lead it, and pissed away the regulations placed to protect us small guys against what we see today on Wall Street, and the mortgage “bubble.” They have no shame. They’ve walked away from the greatest crime in United States history and so far, no one but Vince Bugliosi has made an effort to bring charges against these rodents before they scurry back in to the dark, dank woodwork, and sewers that vomited them forth. With the help of some sorry democrats that, like John Conyers said, “don’t read the bills,” they pissed away thousands of BILLIONS of dollars that the Late Senator Edward M. Kennedy explained in clear simple terms what the money COULD HAVE BEEN USED FOR. IF there is a god, these roaches are in deep doo doo. Satan will have a HELL of a time finding horrors appropriate to these bugs. Damn them all straight to hell.

    tedbohne

  320. tedbohne says:

People like this roach never cease to amaze me. Can always find some phlegm to expectorate even at times when a kind word will do. Some rat up above ranting on about his father the “Nazi bootlegger” instead of looking it up to see if there’s any truth to it. Joe Kennedy Imported spirits from northern Europe during Prohibition, a pathetic example of American stupidity by the “temperance ladies.” Reformed whores. The Kennedy family paid dearly for any transgressions they may or may not have committed. I say, “Rest in Peace Senator Kennedy. You’ve earned it!”

  321. lovinknit says:

Who IS this idiot anyway? What a nasty, nasty, bitter man. I feel sorry for him. That kind of vileness only makes life worse. I wonder what he has ever done in this world to make it better. Obviously not much. And let’s be clear about one thing: any Republican/conservative web site that calls itself “Think Progress” is an oxymoron.

  322. susanm says:

    to tedbohne:

Unfortunately, the “mob mentality” kicks in and the media contributes (understatement!) to misinformation and mis-direction. People get caught up in the mass hysteria and do not research the facts for themselves…illustrative of the all too prevelant human malady of lazy indifference to truth. That ilk cannot be reasoned with…they just “go with the flow” and cling hungrily to every word the Breitbarts, Palins and Limbaughs say, thinking it actually has significance.

The Republican party is fighting for its very existence, but given the tenor of their “spokespersons”, they will become extinct. It is a tragic indication of affairs when Rush Limbaugh is the strongest voice for the GOP!!

  323. amusedbyhypocrites says:

To Poor, Deluded Lora (and her loyal sidekick, Leftside Annie):

Thanks for the additional chuckles through her self-congratulatory note regarding your wielding of Webster’s. Hate to disappoint you & Leftside Annie (doesn’t that make you wobble quite a bit, Annie?), but I ‘went away’ to do productive work. I just check in here now & then for laughs (unlike some who…to paraphrase a familiar wag…have a lot of extra time on their hands. Evidently they spend most of their time consorting on the internet with like-minded fellow travelers for comfort…when they are not editing “major publications”).

I do find it terribly amusing that you felt constrained to reply AFTER you had vowed not to do so. Just couldn’t avoid taking the bait, eh? Well, that’s not surprising…liberals have never made a promise that they couldn’t break afterward.

Meanwhile, back to Kennedy and his legacy of “Borking” Supreme Court candidates…

(I haven’t even noted his hypocrisy in opposing ‘clean energy’ wind turbines that would have marred the coastal view from his home. Sort of like the liberals who want to mandate housing projects in every neighborhood..except their own).

I would think that Edward Kennedy, being a man of the common people, would have left instructions for his family NOT to lionize him by having his body lie in state for several days so that admirers could file by. Perhaps one day we will see a well-respected & admired politician who will shun such “royal” trappings & demand to be buried in a quiet ceremony outside of the public eye. Despite an earlier poster’s unintentionally hilarious remark, evidently SOME liberals DO put their heroes on a pedestal.

  324. amusedbyhypocrites says:

Those predicting the demise of the conservative movement (who cares what happens to the GOP? To paraphrase Edward M. Kennedy, it’s time for conservatives to remember who they are, what they stand for, and to behave appropriately.

What short memories posters here have. Does no one remember the predictions of many pundits after the Republican Revolution & the election of G.W. that it would take generations for the Democratic Party to recover (if it ever did)? A year is a lifetime in politics. How many would have predicted the rise of Obama even six years ago? Constituencies of all stripes would do well to note what happens to those who grow arrogant in power…which seems to be just about anybody & everybody who occupies high office these days.

Of course, CK Philly could have put it much more eloquently (since he seems obsessed with incestuous relations).

Have you been in therapy much over your childhood molestations, CK?

Yeah well, what’s wrong with that? Politicians always claim to be a man of the people, but it’s what they do for the people that counts. Sure he wasn’t perfect, of course he wasn’t.

I’ll let Fox News do the talking, since they aren’t tainted by liberal bias

Come on, Progress, you shouldn’t even be acknowledging the mindless hateful babblings of lunatics like this. I know, I know, it’s meant to get us liberals “angry” at the uncompassionate conservatives. But you know what? I’m already angry at them. I’ve been angry at them for years. I already knew they were uncompassionate, and I know that secretly many of them are cheering Kennedy’s death in their minds, just as I’m sure some of them silently praised Oswald when JFK was assassinated. Think I’m kidding? I’m not. These so-called “Christians” delight in the deaths of others, when those others are people they perceive to be a threat to their “way of life”. So how is this news? Especially when it comes from the mouth (or tweets, rather) of someone so insignificant as this Breitbart arse cave?

As for the whole idea that “liberals” danced with joy for the deaths of Tony Snow and Ronald Reagan, or that we would delight in seeing the likes of Bush and Cheney put to death for their crimes — absurdity. I don’t delight in anyone’s death, not even if it means I stand to inherit a great deal of money (which is probably the only conceivable reason I could see to find any delight whatsoever in someone’s passing). On the contrary, I felt bad for Snow and Reagan. Whatever qualms I may have had with their views in life are moot. Just because you disagree with a person doesn’t mean you should HATE them or take joy in seeing them suffer — even if they actually deserve to suffer.

Look, I have no “bleeding heart” about terrorists who want to kill me and my family, but at the same time, I take no pride or joy in seeing them killed or tortured. Only a sociopathic sadist could actually take JOY in such a thought. If those on the right consider themselves to be true Christians, and honestly believe that Ted Kennedy was somehow an evil man (or bully, or villain, or what have you), they should take comfort in the fact that God will judge him now. Just as God will judge them and their ilk when their time comes. How do you think God views people who delight in the pain, suffering, and deaths of others?

It’s sick, is what it is. To dance on the grave of your “enemy”, especially when your “enemy” is a fellow American who fought for the rights of Americans. I would not even take pleasure in the death of Osama Bin Laden! I would be relieved that he was no longer a threat to the country, but at the same time I realize that his death would not signal an end to terrorism or cause for celebration. The fact that Kennedy is dead does not mean the “end” of liberalism, the fact that Reagan is dead does not mean the “end” of conservatism.

All of that aside, while I don’t delight in the suffering of others, it is somewhat cathartic to hurl insults. I prefer to save my insults for the living, and consider it rude to insult the dead, as they aren’t able to defend themselves. So I’m going to purge some of my distaste for so-called “conservative commentators” on this Bratburp fellow. “Big ass m—–f—–”? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Seeing as how you’ve been in “journalism” for quite a while, I suppose I should have heard of you, Mr. Brainfart, but I haven’t. Perhaps you’re just not very entertaining, successful, or relevant. Maybe it’s because you look like the bastard child of Rush Limbaugh and Bernie Madoff, or spew more fecal matter from your mouth than from your opposing orifice. And what’s with the hairdo, seriously? Do your second-rate jobs not pay you enough to afford a mirror? Interesting Wiki article on you… so interesting that they declined to even post your picture. I don’t know if that’s because of how irrelevant you are, or because they were afraid of nauseating the people who accidentally navigated to the page after searching for Bratwurst. I see you refer to yourself as “Matt Drudge’s b—-”. Ah, now see, Matt Drudge is someone I have heard of before. That would make you his b—-. It would also make you MY b—-. I see you also guest hosted Savage Nation and occasionally fill in for Dennis Miller’s radio show. I would argue, however, that you’re probably even too ugly for radio. Ooh, Savage Nation and Dennis Miller. You know, I remember a time when Dennis Miller was relevant. And somewhat entertaining. Just shows how far he’s fallen when he resorts to using the likes of YOU to fill in for him. I see you also had a role in “Michael Moore Hates America” — did you happen to play Moore in that one? Sorry, I love Michael Moore, but he’s almost as ugly as you are. Almost.

Well, I’m glad I got that off my chest. But don’t worry, Bartburt, I won’t be making fun of you when you die. Chances are pretty good that I won’t even hear about it, and no one will care. In fact, shortly after submitting this comment, I will have completely forgotten who you are. Do you think anyone will ever forget who Ted Kennedy was? Hmm? That’s right, Mr. Barnumbailey, Ted Kennedy was a man who held a democratically elected seat of power for almost 50 years, and influenced the world more than you could ever dream of. He was a man known and loved around the world, whom even his own critics admired and respected. Did he have some personal problems? Of course, and I’m not going to defend Chappaquiddick. But if we were to hang everyone who has ever made a mistake in life, we would have a severe shortage of rope, would we not? Your own conservative ilk have made plenty of mistakes of their own, some costing countless lives as a result. The vast majority of Kennedy’s work has helped to benefit people, many in ways that they may never know, particularly amongst young people of my generation who aren’t aware of all the things Teddy was instrumental in passing that we today take for granted. In that respect, Kennedy has actually benefitted the conservative movement as well — can you imagine what the world would be like without any liberal and/or progressive programs in place? People would have abandoned the Republican party EONS ago had liberals not first made their lives tolerable enough to actually worry about trivial things like taxes, defecits, and gun control.

Anyway, the original point of my post was that this Birdbrain guy is a nobody, and it’s not at all surprising that anyone on the right would show a complete lack of respect or compassion to Kennedy’s passing. If anything, it’s more surprising that the likes of Rush Limbaugh actually showed any respect or restraint at all. Probably only because they fear the PR backlash from appearing overly cruel towards the recently deceased, but whatever, at least they have the decency to keep most of their opinions to themselves in the wake of the man’s death. But, is it news that some conservative commentators are uncompassionate a-holes? If you think that’s news, I’ve got another newsflash for you: bears defecate in the woods.

don’t have anything bad to say about Ted Kennedy. But this crew is really a bunch of hypocrites to complain about anyone after whay they had to say about Robert Novak last week

From the “no great loss” file. Outing a CIA agent during a time of war is treason. And we’re supposed to remember him fondly? Yes, sir…you have one heck of a legacy. Whatever good you may have done in perpetuity, you didn’t do much good while you were on this earth.

My sympathies to those who survive him. Other than that…

Novak said he wouldn’t have done anything differently. This means:

    2) Robert Novak died an unrepentant traitor.

Hope he liked his legacy: outing a CIA agent, then being a pr*ck about his right to do whatever he wanted.

    Good riddance to bad rubbish

    Traitor.

On the very first page of his book, he made no mistake about his acid disdain for Joe Wilson, prior to becoming involved in outing Valerie. I’d have liked it had he died in prison.

Novak was a despicable human being. The world will be a better place with him gone.

    Game of Life says:

Why not speak ill of a man who caused pain on the living? Death is part of living and his death took too long in coming.

He was a liar and one of the forefathers who torn this nation apart.

    Good riddance

Ok, Tracy_5, watchdog, the rest of the conservatives, I don’t think you’re really seeing why some people are pissed. Maybe just me, but I think there’s some who feel the same way. They’re mad because a family hasn’t gotten the chance to even mourn their loss before slander comes out. It’s not right when it comes from conservatives, it’s not right when it comes from liberals. It’s not right when it comes from that person’s opponents or proponents. It’s just not right. Just once, I would like to hear someone conservative say something completely human, even if it’s neutral or a downright lie. You don’t have to miss him, I sure as hell won’t because I didn’t know him. I didn’t know his redeeming qualities or his failures – despite many Republican attempts to educate me on them. To be honest, I’d give Bush the same respect I’d give Clinton if either one of them died.

So two wrongs make a right? Why is it that right-wingers always say, the lefties did it as if it excuses their behavior as well? Do you think that works in the playground? Of course not.

The man was NOT perfect, his behavior at Chappaquiddick was indefensible…but of course you don’t condemn the righties for their words. You just pile on the lefties. At least you had the decency not to stoop down to the level of the freepers. I’ll give you credit for that. Perhaps you should be noticing that such words are universal, but you would like to pooh-pooh those words from the fringe right while condemning us fully.

  332. Rezi D. says:

QUESTION: has any TK critic actually LIED about him?

ANSWER: no. all the criticism is TRUTH.

that’s what you libs can’t stand – the fact that’s it’s all TRUE & you can’t hide from it.

furthermore, how many of you libs here came out in defense of TONY SNOW who actually was lied about?

moot point. it doesn’t even matter because you are so blinded by bitterness you can’t see straight because you can’t think straight.

how very very AMAZING that you rebellious libs who don’t want anyone to tell you what to do are so ready to follow tyrants.

perhaps it’s because you can’t help but follow men who represent your innermost selves.

If Senator Ted Kennedy had ever stumbled across this forum, he’d have been appalled by the degree of poisonous hatred that emanates from it. There’s not a single one of the regular posters here who has any room to talk about Breitbart, Beck, or any other loudmouthed, sensationalist, neo-con idiot…because you all spit out the same bile as they do, only from the opposite extreme. You even attack moderates with the same vehemence as you would a neo-con, just like a pack of rabid jackals. Ted Kennedy would never have associated himself with the likes of this place; he’d have shaken his head in disgust and moved on to something worth reading.
But unlike Kennedy, I’m compelled to post a comment here…just to point out the fact that the man you hold with such high esteem would have shunned the bunch of you for the hatred expressed in your views.
Kennedy was an icon of democratic ideals; but not yours.

    P.S.-Don’t bother banning me…I’m done.

  337. UCSBKitty says:

See all the self-righteous here pull the classic bait here. Always cry about the left-wing hate, telling us we should condemn ourselves, but would you see them going to Free Republic and asking them to do the same here? Why is it Shame on you liberals, but never the same to the other side?

  338. Purple State says:

Gee, if Ted Kennedy did find this forum, I certainly hope he’d stop by and say hi. Of course, you knew the man personally, it seems.

So tell us why you think you can assume we’re all the same as Beck and…um…that other guy, whoever he is, even though you have never met any of us nor have you seen every single thing written on this blog to make the assumption that we’re all the same.

    Oh, you’re not here?

    Never mind.

  339. jsob says:

Apparently Breitbart’s parents never taught him how to be civil.

  340. Campesino says:

    More like this:

Former President George W. Bush spoke to Vicki Kennedy on Wednesday and expressed his and Laura Bush’s condolences, best wishes and prayers, an aide said.

Bush said that the senator was “a great man who lived a full life” and that he would miss him, the aide said.

Earlier, Bush said in a statement: “Laura and I are saddened by the death of Sen. Ted Kennedy. We extend our condolences and prayers to Sen. Kennedy’s wife, Vicki, and all of their family.

“Ted Kennedy spent more than half his life in the United States Senate. He was a man of passion who advocated fiercely for his convictions. I was pleased to work with Sen. Kennedy on legislation to raise standards in public schools, reform immigration and ensure dignity and fair treatment for Americans suffering from mental illness.

“In a life filled with trials, Ted Kennedy never gave in to self-pity or despair. He maintained his optimistic spirit, his sense of humor and his faith in his fellow citizens. He loved his family and his country — and he served them until the end. He will be deeply missed.”

  341. Campesino says:

    Or this:

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) issued the following statement regarding the passing of longtime political journalist Robert Novak:

“Today we pause in memory of Robert Novak, who died of brain cancer at the age of 78. Novak was a Washington institution, the author of a syndicated column that ran for four and a half decades, a familiar presence on television, and one of the nation’s most prominent conservative voices. Naturally, we agreed on very little—but I have sincere respect for Robert Novak’s dedication and prolific career. His lifelong passion for politics struck a chord with many Americans. It was a passion he said began when his father let him stay up late to listen to a radio broadcast of the 1940 Republican Convention, and it carried him to the center of the Washington scene. My thoughts today are with his family.”

  347. nikonhermit says:

    Sir:

You are the prime example of low a man may fall and yet be counted among the human race.

Could you not at least wait until the man is buried before unleashing your sorry mental offal? What is your hurry?

Is it perhaps your realization that even if you spend every moment of your life cursing this man, you will not be able to achieve a thousandth of what he has, nor will you be remembered for anything other than being the obscene caricature of a human that you are.

  348. vamb52 says:

What a JERK you are. What kind of swill must live in your heart to kick a man on the day he dies! Where does this hatred come from? Maybe from a dissatisfaction with your own life. Maybe you have a lot to talk over with a therapist. Most conservatives have enough class to realize that Ted Kennedy did a lot for this country. Some of them, such as John McCain, will even attend and speak at his memorial. I guess your mother didn’t teach you manners. I pity you.

  349. AFY says:

I am willing to bet anyone who wasn’t alive when Mary Jo died at Chappaquiddick sure didn’t learn the story this week. The press has been far to reverential.

Did any of us get through the week of Richard Nixon’s funeral without learning about all the details of Watergate? And how about Kennedy’s treatment of Robert Bork?

Andrew is pissed off. But politics is serious business and at least he isn’t afraid to bring a knife to a gun fight. I just spent 8 years hearing my president compared to Hitler … I guess all who said that need not only a history lesson but a lesson in manners, also.

  350. UCSBKitty says:

Well I heard MY president be slandered for 8 years…I’ll have you guess who it was…If there is anyone who needs a lesson, it’s the righties who instead of debating ideas either sought to squelch dissent by calling us terrorists, traitors, you name it.

  351. 7Eaglestalons says:

Before I’m called a heartless neo-con, or right wing zealot, let me clarify that I’m an Independent, having tired of the self serving actions of both major political parties. I think the Dems and Repubs tend to put their party before the good of the nation. This said, Kennedy was one of the “worst” of the “party first” politicians.
I can see the point that the man should be put in the ground before the mud begins to fly, but did any of us really think that would happen? NOT! Ted was too controversial. Most liberals loved him. The right wingers tended to hate him. I have my own reasons for disliking Sen. Kennedy, but I can express that without calling him names, or cursing him. In the near future, we may be “eulogizing” some Republican politician …. maybe a Bush or Cheney …. so don’t get pious. I’m sure the roast will be just as quick and bruising.
I’m a Vietnam veteran … one of those drug adled dudes that feels betrayed by Kennedy. I believe he had a lot of responsibility for bringing about the pathetic withdrawal of our troops which caused great loss of life to our warrriors and also the brave Vietnamese people who fought by our sides. They were slaughtered when we abandoned them. I resent his Harvard cheating escapade … kicked out and then readmitted. Meanwhile, the kid that cheated for him was never readmitted. Shameful. Chappaquiddick? Needn’t be repeated in depth, but he was responsible for a girl’s death and asked a relative to take the fall. What does this say about the guy’s character? Get real, he doesn’t deserve adulation, regardless of what he’s done in politics. He was instrumental for getting the Hart-Celler Act passed in 1965. That legislation is one of the root causes for the out of control illegal immigration that we are struggling with today. His older brother, JFK, had completely different plans for the immigration legislation. He wanted it to be skills based. What a costly disaster Teddy’s course has been! I watched him direct the character assassination of Judge Robert Bork. Bork was a very intelligent, experienced Constitution oriented jurist and it was a tragedy to see him debased for political nonsense. He would’ve been a great SC member who based opinions on our Constitution, not a revisionist politician. Thank Goodness Sotomayor was spared the humility that Kennedy brought upon Bork’s head. Read the hearing transcripts if you doubt me. Finally, the 9/11 blood had barely dried on the sidewalks of NY before Teddy decided to use the disaster to make political gain. How sad …. for a short time Americans stood shoulder to shoulder, but It was Kennedy who began the political attacks shortly afterward. So, I ask all of you, who was quick to walk on people’s graves? I believe the senator was. Therefore, what goes around comes around. I’d wager that his older brothers and father would’ve given him a good thumping if they had lived to see the way he acted and the poor decisions he made. He brought shame to the good family name and ruined his chances to ever hold the office of president. In fact, the only thing that saved him from jail was probably the nation’s respect for JFK and Bobby.
I hope he’s replaced in the senate by a person that will promote togetherness and cooperation of ALL the legislators. I’m sick of the spewing of hatred between parties, left/right/atheists/born agains/races …. whatever. This name calling and divisiveness is ridiculous and makes me wonder if we have much of a future. If there are errors in this thing … tough, I don’t have a proof reader.

    I LOVE this website!!!!

They can then see for themselves the foaming-at-the-mouth future Unibombers who are one step away from mob violence (EugeneDeb’s therapist must have earned a fortune by now; he/she has earned it by protecting society thus far).

Don’t you rabid leftists here realize that you are tools of these organizations who use your donations for their livelihood? Undoubtedly they mock you over their caviar & champagne dinners while they enjoy their ‘escorts’…all paid for by your $.

Even worse, you don’t seem to realize that websites such as this are godsends to people like Glen Beck & Bill O’Reilly. YOU keep them in business through your invective, obscene comments, intolerance of any views but your own, and threats of violence toward dissenting views. Congratulations! You are the best friends that right-wingers ever had!

Every time you type in Repiggies, Rethuglicans, Repukes, etc., you should hear FoxNews (excuse me, FauxNews…how original!) coffers going Ca-Ching!!

I have many friends of all political stripes…independent, Democratic, Republican, and others (no anarchists, admittedly), and NEVER have I seen anything like the bile spewed here. Do you people even KNOW anyone who doesn’t share your views, much less interact with them?

I visit many websites and have many heated but respectful debates with others (some whom have become internet friends). The difference is that those sites welcome opposing views & intelligent conversation. Moderators prevent insults and “voting down” unpopular views. If someone DARED to refer to opponents as(I’m going to make up a few in the spirit of this site) Dimwitcrats, Demoncrats, Democraps, Dumb****crats, etc., they would be BANNED.

(Sigh) I guess a cesspool has to exist for people to indulge their inner demons.

I can cancel cable as long as you’re around.

Your comments are like a cross between Dirty Harry & Forrest Gump…uttered in a Jerry-Lewis-type voice.

You, EugeneDebs…you are a national treasure!

When you leave this mortal coil, may your body be taken on a grand farewell tour around town to your favorite pubs & landmarks (maybe stopping at a bridge)nad then have your body lie “in repose” so that people may visit to pay their respects. You’re doing a lot of good for the country, my friend. Keep up the good work.

I heard Kennedy speak in person only once. I did not like him and found his ideologies odious, but it was a compelling speech. And, he did a lot of great things that helped to better the lives of many. He also did a lot of creepy things that worsened our nation. I wish he had not been a senator. His personal flaws aside, I understand he was deeply loved by those around him, including people like Cal Thomas or Orrin Hatch, certainly not political soul-mates. Condolences to his family and friends.
