Randall Terry ejected from Rep. Moran’s town hall.

randallterry Last month, Randall Terry, founder of the right-wing extremist group Operation Rescue, warned that his supporters might engage in violent acts of terrorism unless Congress prohibits abortion services from being covered in the new health reform legislation. Terry’s injection of violent rhetoric into the health care debate continued recently as he staged protests where he stabbed baby dolls. In Virginia last night, Terry was kicked out of a town hall held by Rep. James Moran (D-VA) and former Vermont Governor Howard Dean after he interrupted and accused Democrats of murdering babies. The Hill reports on Terry’s extreme protest last night:

The Moran town hall was the last stop on a 10-city tour for Randall Terry, the anti-abortion activist known for his extreme tactics.

Terry’s colleagues put on a skit with a man in an Obama mask pretending to whip a bloodied woman, who kept saying, “Massa, don’t hit me no more. I got the money to kill the babies.”

Terry himself dressed in a doctor’s lab coat and pretended to stab a woman in a gray wig.

“There’s no way to pay for this thing without killing granny,” Terry explained.

Update FireDogLake has video of the incident here.

Randall Terry should be arrested, sent to Gitmo for “water sports” and extreme “exercise” seesions.
He proclaimed himself to be a domestic terrorist.

  2. Mugsy says:

So they express their opposition to abortion by acting out their sick fantasies in public???

Note to Republicans: “Moran” is his name. You’re looking for a different kind of “Moran town hall”.

Further proof that Terry is deeply psychotic..

  11. Lora says:

    R. Terry ought to be rejected from this planet.

  12. Zimzone says:

Americans cannot let domestic terrorists garner all the media attention on health care reform.

They are knowingly disrupting public meetings to be in the spotlight.

Randall Terry, Rick Scott, Joe the Dumber, Dick Armey, Dick Morris and a host of others should be charged, arrested & incarcerated.

Timothy McVeigh proved we cannot let domestic terrorism go unchecked.

These people aren’t the ‘dining room table’.

They’re the arsonists lurking outside your house at night.

Law enforcement, do your job. You had no problem arresting folks like me in the ’60’s, why are you so timid now? These people are a far greater threat than anti-war protesters.

    These people are TERRORISTS.

  13. stewarjt says:

It is interesting how the right wing is so concerned about “granny being killed: in the future and don’t give a hoot about the people dying now because they don’t have access to health care.

  14. katy says:

another good caller to stephanie (”Facts With Slide Whistle”):

“where are the moms? [at these meetings]?”

we need more moms telling their stories…

the weeping woman at another meeting and the rep’s advice to get help from her neighbors, reminded me of all the benefit events i see regularly… wonder if any of those events raised anything near the dollars needed for real treatments…

that rep needed to be slapped.

  15. Marie says:

Finally, someone takes action against the extreme, right wing insanity.

  16. dasm says:

Terry should be arrested, evaluated, and then either jailed for terrorism or institutionalized for his apparent mental health issues. A very dangerous man, get him off the streets.

  18. RantingTommy says:

Randall Terry is a terrorist. Period.

The fact that he believes in fantastical gods and biblical myths is irrelevant.

He wants to influence politics using fear. That makes him a terrorist, along with anyone else trying to scare people away from allowing congress to fix our health insurance system.

He preys on the ignorance and cowardice of right wing holy rollers.

  19. dasm says:

The episode described where Terry’s colleagues whip a woman reveals two things about these hate-filled creeps: their hatred of women, & their angry racism. These are extreme right-wing terrorists and violent racists.

  20. NutWrench says:

    Dr. Hussein Matt says:
HAHAHA. Comical. 2010 is going to be a cake walk for the Dems.

Yup. I can’t say I feel real sorry for conservatives, because they brought this mess on themselves by pandering to the nuts in the first place. As the last few sane and reasonable conservatives get disgusted and leave the Republican party, the remaining stupid becomes more and more concentrated and now the nuts are running the asylum.

Guys like McCain must feel like they’re on the Jerry Springer show. Nobody in the audience wants to talk about the actual subject of health care. It’s all “how socialist / communistic / terroristic do you think Obama is?” How do you respond to such stupidity without embarrassing both the questioner (for being such a rock-hard moron) and yourself? (for being there in the first place?)

O’Reilly: Time now for Patriots and Pinheads. Tonight’s patriot: Randall Terry!

  22. ElBruce says:

    Yeesh.

All I can say is, yeesh.

I realize that this guy isn’t representative of mainstream “conservative” thought, but the politically representative spectrum of every movement says something about it. I’ll admit that the left wing had some wackjobs back in the 60’s and 70’s, with Weather Underground and the Symbionese Liberation Army as just two examples, but we’ve grown up since then. Whereas the right seems to have degenerated completely into full-on loony.

  23. smidget says:

Well, that’s sure to be an effective method of garnering support for your cause: Violent imagery and ridiculous overdramatizing of real issues.

It works so well for PETA, afterall.

  24. Marie says:

When the RNC allowed – even defended and encouraged – Sarah Palin to make outrageous claims from the podium, they also sanctioned people who feel free to threaten violence to people with whom they disagree. The Repugs may have enjoyed the attention and the distractions they provided last year, but they will live to regret it — they opened Pandora’s box – in America. Our own extremists who advocate terrorism in so many arenas feel they have license now to create chaos and potential mayhem.

    #1 Uncle Ho-
I thought we were supposed to be against Gitmo and torture here. As odious as Randall Terry is, who decides to torture him? Torture is wrong.
From 2001-2008, it was Bush who ordered that anyone suspicious be tortured. Let’s not emulate that. Otherwise it becomes Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss.
I’d be happy with locking Terry up for life and bankrupting his organization.

  27. evangenital says:

It’s way past time for the Dems to show some backbone and deal with the trash.

Screw the repiggies, screw the teabaggers and screw Randall Terry.

    ______________________________________________________________

Good. It’s about time. I’m sick to death of town hall meetings being hijacked by obstructionists who want to stifle any meaningful dialogue and by agitators who want to exploit them for their own bits of political theater. And I’m sick to death of the MSM who play right into the hands of these people.

  29. misscoleopteramolly says:

  31. NutWrench says:

“There’s no way to pay for this thing without killing granny,” Terry explained.

There’s a scene in the movie Blazing Saddles where the grizzled, old prospector Gabby Johnson stands up before the townspeople and unleashes a torrent of “authentic frontier gibberish.” This is Randall Terry in a nutshell.

  32. TXProgressive says:

Theres a special place in hell for this upstanding “christian” Randall Terry.

GO JIM MORAN!!!! He was my Congressman during the 14 years I lived in the Virginia suburbs and I loved having him represent me every second I was there. Say what you will about him, his pugnaciousness is one of his many strong points. I only wish I had been there to watch him eject Randall Terry. Jim’s testosterone must have been gushing through his veins as he removed that useless waste of flesh from his presence. Damn…what a great way to start the day!

  34. Tired of being lied to says:

Holy cow. How many groups of people can you offend in one act of stupidity?

Interesting tactic to use to gain support for your position. Maybe the only thing missing was black face.

  35. hormiga brava chavez says:

Stabbing dolls?! WTF! Absolute madness coming from Randall Terry! I agree Zimzone @13, this guy is a terrorist and should be arrested. It’s good that Terry was ejected from the town hall meeting. It’ll send a message to these lunatics that they’re insanity will not be tolerated.

Comedy gold. Opponents of health care are marginalizing themselves. They need no help.

  39. Game of Life says:

Repugs are just walking wishy-washy, brain dead, willingly ignorant fool.

How are they going say an individual’s choice is between a doctor and patient then turn around and tell people what they can do with their body?

This man is a nutjob with nutters as followers.

  40. Purple State says:

Just think. When health care reform becomes a reality, we can treat Mr. Terry for his obvious mental disorders.

  41. Chuck Feney says:

40 years ago Richard Nixon (of all people) said:

“In these difficult years, America has suffered from a fever of words; from inflated rhetoric that promises more than it can deliver; from angry rhetoric that fans discontents into hatreds; from bombastic rhetoric that postures instead of persuading.

We cannot learn from one another until we stop shouting at one another–until we speak quietly enough so that our words can be heard as well as our voices.”

Randall Terry, may or may not be a terrorist, but he is certainly an ‘outside agitator.’ The corporate media gives him, and other malcontents, a very visible and out-sized platform as an expression of where their editorial sympathies lie.

Randall Terry isn’t interested ‘in learning from one another’ as Nixon said: he wants to intimidate others, as surely, as those who bring guns to public events do.

Until our media is no longer dominated by the powerful few, who direct coverage to further their own interests, we will be seeing more of the inflated, angry and bombastic rhetoric fanning discontent into hatred. Violence will surely follow and violence completes the partial mind.

  42. katy says:

rep. moran was just on stephanie miller (”Facts With SlideWhistle”)
and said that he didn’t want to eject terry from the meeting and told him that if he would shut up and listen after making his point (my words) he could have stayed, but he wouldn’t be civil and so had to go…

moran said terry warned them he would be at that meeting so they were prepared for him… the theatrics put him over the top…

can’t imagine it would win any converts…

  45. A Patriotic Anopheles Acting says:

Amazing how these “christians” are so opposed to legislation that is FOR the betterment of the lass fortunate in this Country. Terry and his organization are nothing more than a lobby group for the anti-abortion fundies.

I’m with some of the other posters here that these disrupters/obstructionists/teabaggers do not deserve the air time that they have been enjoying. Their theatrics may make make for “good tv” but they are, by a long shot, in the minority on this issue and it should be clearly discussed by commentaters as they show images like this. Major League Baseball has an agreement with it’s broadcasters to NOT show fans when they take to the field as it only encourages others for the brief fame of being on tv. I wish that the MSM would consider these opportunists main goal before they show shit like this scumbag Terry. Sadly it distracts from the seriousness of this effort and from the majority in this Country who want and desperately need meaningful reform.

  46. LizCoro says:

Jeez, as my dear ole dad used to say . .

The best part of Randall Terry ran down his father’s leg . .

    Sick puppy!!

  47. pags2 says:

These antics would make great campaign ads for the Dems. I say let these idiots keep doing what they do and get it on film.

  48. shoeless says:

Are all of the jails full, because thought people who threaten violent acts of terrorism were supposed to be put there.

  49. Leftside Annie says:

Heh. IMO, Randall Terry is poster child for why abortion MUST remain legal.

  50. Marie says:

Wasn’t Moran one of two Congressmen who opposed the war in Iraq and then went there and said it was a misguided adventure, only to be branded as terrorist sympathasizers?

  51. RantingTommy says:

They are full of pot smokers

  52. shoeless says:

Yes Marie, I believe that was Rep. Moran.

  53. ds0 says:

If no one believed in fairy tales, there’s nothing they could do but fail, yet everywhere we look someone is trying to reassure moral benevolence as a people.

  54. Daddy-O says:

Representative Moran? Against the war? Labelled a terrorist symp?

Reminds me of the famous photo of the idiot with the cool sunglasses, a blond mullet and a Cardinals T-shirt, holding the sign calling war protesters “Morans”.

Maybe he DIDN’T misspell it. ;-)

  55. shoeless says:

    Especially this guy.

  58. PlacitasRoy says:

I watch the town hall and thought Moran did pizz poor job….probably the worst performance he’s ever had. He was extremely nervous. Terry should never have been allowed in. The signs should never have been allowed in. The procedure for taking questions was horrible! His list of Myths should have been called LIEs and been much more concise.

    Howard Dean was brilliant.

  59. Uncle Fester Lurks says:

The right condones public displays of a man stabbing baby dolls and stabbing granny but are outraged when an artist puts similar distasteful artwork on display at an art museum. Can you smell the stench of hypocrisy?

  60. Zooey says:

Just wait until Randall Terry finds out granny had an abortion.

  61. BIG SMOOTH says:

So I am a little curious:

Exactly who is “this act” by Mr Terry supposed to convince? Is he going to win anyone (other than the nutcases who agree with him)else to his side?

    Are they really…really this stupid?

  62. christopher wiwi says:

This right wing nut needs to read the Hyde Amendment where it states that no federal funds can pay for Abortions……..

  63. Parlezvous says:

Although I am not in agreement as to the legal status of abortion in America, it seems massively stupid to rail against public funding of abortion when tens of millions of Americans face every day with out protection of any health care program. Terry must believe, deep down in his black heart, that it is better to harm many for the sake of so few. If abortion were outlawed today, it would continue tomorrow and forever as it has throughout the history of mankind.

  64. RantingTommy says:

Terry wants to make sure the fetus is forced to become a baby so he can later deny it medical insurance.

  65. Krazny says:

One nice thing about having a public option health care, is Terry could get the psychological attention he needs.

  66. J. Fred Smug says:

Right-wing nutjobs scare me as much as the next responsible person, but I’m coming around to the opinion that these people MUST be continually exposed to the light of day. Randall Terry is obviously so sick & twisted that any viewpoint he espouses takes a serious credibility hit by association.

  67. Mr. Evil says:

Randall Terry is another reason why people from every other country laugh at us on a daily basis. They see us as deranged and delusional because we consistently provide him and like-minded scum forums to spew forth a steady stream of vile rhetoric and outright lies. ENOUGH!

  68. Dailyfare says:

What amazes me is how the MSM treats agitators like Terry as if their lies are just as valid as fact.

  69. pastcaring says:

I just spent the last hour explaining how Hannity spun this event to make Moran look like he was against people expressing concerns at town hall meetings by showing Jane Hamsher’s vid and the fact that Hannity didn’t mention Randall Terry’s antics to the great surprise of the person I was talking to…I’m exhausted fighting the reight wing stupidity machine…

  70. MapleStreet says:

While the focus of this thread is on Terry, may I point out that ********FINALLY************ someone ejected a disruptive person from the town hall meeting.

  71. crtyree says:

I watched a report of it last night. The newsreader said the outside Terry helped provide a circus like atmosphere…then showed a brief 1 sec. clip as part of a montage that showed Terry stabbing plastic babies. Disgusting

  72. aquarius2 says:

Too bad Terry didn’t have a fatal accident on his way out the door. He, along with Fred Phelps?, needs to make the earth a better place to live by removing themselves from the living.

  73. wiley says:

Jesus in a rubber room! That’s painful. No heart. No mind. No coothe. No taste. Bet this guy is a raging sociopath. He could care less about abortions, fetuses, babies, mothers—it’s all about HIM.

  74. EdgeOnIt says:

A political strategy appeals to ‘better reason’; this appeal may be perceived as credible only when one is acting in one’s own best interests!? IMO, it may be way overtime, when credentials are routinely required to be presented, verified, and analysed, through our media information resources, and then construed as somehow, respectable, and then thoroughly involved as a core element of a presentation, which attempts to elucidate the apparant attitude of the authority, and then presents a believable story-line, based upon facts? (p.s. this oddity, may be suggested, partly due to the occaissional, strange, and painful, recurring, occurence when lions lay down with sheep?)
