Inhofe admits he’ll vote against health care bill without even reading it.

inhofejpgOne of the most vociferous opponents of health care reform has been Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK), who previously promoted blocking reform because it would be a “huge gain” for the GOP. The Oklahoma-based Express-Star reports that Inhofe told a town hall crowd yesterday that he will vote against health reform legislation without even reading it or knowing what’s in it:

At a town hall meeting Wednesday Sen. Jim Inhofe told Chickasha residents he does not need to read the 1,000 page health care reform bill, he will simply vote against it.

I don’t have to read it, or know what’s in it. I’m going to oppose it anyways,” he said.

He went on to tell the crowd we are “almost reaching a revolution in this country” due to opposition to health reform. Inhofe is not alone in saying he will vote against any health reform bill. Last week Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) told Fox News that he doesn’t think a “single Republican” will vote for health care reform.

That retard is typical of the repiggie party today.

Why would any of you bother to vote for any of that trash, even for local office?

If Imhofe is so damned opposed to government-backed health care, then why won’t that hypocrite renounce his own coverage and that of his family?

Screw the repiggies, and screw the teabagger trash.

Let’s get this health care reform done now and done properly.

Sometimes a housecat will need medication.

But, because it’s a cat, it doesn’t understand that.

SO a good cat owner must do what is necessary,

wrestle that cat to the floor, pry its jaw open, and, at the risk of getting scratched and bitten,

ram that pill down its unwilling throat.

The cat will be pissed, for sure, and it will avoid that owner for a couple of days, but once the medicine has done its job, and the animal is feeling itself again, it will be right back in that owner’s lap, purring.

“If I hadn’t been involved in this process as long as I have and to the depth as I have, you would already have national health care,” he said.

  25. Virtual Pebble says:

“almost reaching a revolution…”? Well, Inhofe is certainly revolting enough.

I’d like to think that our Elect, the Congresscritters of the House and Senate, would have the sense to vote on the merits of any bill, after reflection and study, after consideration of whether the bill represents an improvement for the Nation, rather than just voting up or down on the basis of barking madness and party line. But no, that will never happen with people like Inhofe in place.

So, my contention remains that inhofe is the new synonym for stupid, brain dead, mean spirited, and ignorant, replacing the use of cretin, moron, and idiot, which apart from having been appropriate labels for an inhofe are also perjoratively applied to those of us who are less capable in the intellectual sense; quit dissing the intellectually “challenged” and just call an inhofe an infofe.

We had a town-hall meeting last night in Bryan / College Station, Texas. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, this is the heart of Limbaugh/Hannity territory, so it was rough going for our Dem. Congressional Rep Chet Edwards. The Repubs outnumbered us about 3 to 1 but we managed to hold our own in cheering for the points that he made.

Rep. Edwards has managed to get elected because he is a graduate of Texas A.M. her in town and his area extends into the Waco area that tends to be a little more liberal. But make no mistake about it…the Repubs truly hate him and did their best to throw him off track…he did well in defending himself.

Even after covering “death panels, covering illegal aliens, and not paying for abortions” they kept coming back to threes points like they never heard his answers. They kept yelling “no Government option” over and over. Edwards asked them if they would be willing to give up their Medicare and Social Security benefits hundreds of these idiots raised their hands and yelled YES…to the laughter of the rest of us.

Bryan and College Station are generally wonder cities to live, but it is so damned conservative its amazing. As an example, the movies “W’, Frost / Nixon, and Milk were prohibited from being shown in the theaters..

To do so they would have to ignore the FACT that currently 18,000 Americans per year DIE from lack of access to healthcare and that half of all bankrupcies are healthcare related even though most of those people HAD health insurance when their trouble began. You would have to be stupid enough to think there problems like that to address before you bought the laughable programming that it was about control.

just pointing out the liberal hypocrisy ralph. I didn’t see any of you crying when nobody read bills before that you were in favor of before they voted for them.
    _____________________________________________________________

No hypocrisy here. I’ll accept that no lawmaker can personally read every word of every bill put forth for consideration. This is why every lawmaker has a staff of people to help with this gargantuan task. The lawmaker has an obligation to understand what he’s voting on.

My objection is that Inhofe claims he’s going to vote against a bill (that isn’t even finished yet) WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT’S IN IT. This is irresponsible.

And yes — if a Democrat made the same stupid statement, I’d say the same thing.

Wasn’t Inhofe the guy who claimed he’d vote against Sotomayor’s confirmation without listening to anything she had to say or finding out anything about her, her qualifications, or her record? This must be his SOP.

That’s great! But you realize that this is the equivalent of taking two aspirin for a headache, right?

What happens when your house gets the equivalent of influenza and is engulfed in flames? Wouldn’t it be irresponsible to rely on your fire extinguishers then? Pretty sure your neighbors would appreciate if you called the fire department at that point…

My daughter has been a Federal Employee for nearly 20 years and works at an Army hospital.

When she first started, she was given SIX DIFFERENT INSURANCE OPTIONS to choose from. She chose the one that best suited her needs both medically and financially.

Every bit of her medical care for these nearly 20 years, has been between HERSELF and HER DOCTOR. There has been ZERO government intervention in any of the care she has had.

A few times, the insurance company sent a questionnaire to either herself or her doctor requesting additional info about a procedure, but she has NEVER had a claim or service denied by anyone.

The only problem is the cost. Even though she is in a very large pool with hundreds of thousands of Federal employees, the insurer is a large company always looking at their profit margins, and the premiums continue to go up and up. She now pays roughly 7 times what she did when she first started almost 20 years ago, and she has not used her coverage to any great extent either.

If/when we have a bill passed with a Public Option, there must be controls in place to stop (or at least slow down) the escalating premiums for the insured.

Since you dont know why you believe what you were told to believe you thrash around like the drowning moron you are taking STABS at making sense and missing by a parsec or so. I would explain things to you but what would be the point. You are too stupid to understand concepts like ICE. You keep making vague statements about how having a government option for healthcare equals control without explainging or even making an argument about how that is in any way a reasoned argument. And in case you were dumb enough to think it WAS an explanation just SAYING that if the gov provides your healthcare they control you was an explanation NO MORON it isnt. Every Senator that votes against healthcare reform is voting against every taxpayer and should be treated to unemployment.

They still can’t seem to wrap their heads around the fact that it’s about who gets paid how much and by whom. They are trying to reform health insurance, not health care.

And they seem utterly blind to the fact that the whole aim of health insurance reform is to lower the cost to most everyone by limiting the role of profit-taking middle-men.

Here’s a newsflash for the Reichwhiners: They’re trying to protect you and save you money!

If I give all my money to rich people and kiss enough rich butt it will be good for me in the longrun.

I dont CARE how many people have to DIE as long as there is some money in it for me in the longrun.

The worst thing we ever did was end child labor and now I have to pay for those freeloaders. Why cant my six year old pull his own weight.

If we just starve the poor children now it means I wont have to help them when they get older

We lost. Now the question is, when I’m able to afford insurance (which I can’t now), will I be able to get it or will I be denied due to pre-existing conditions – which the insurance co.’s “proved” I didn’t have?

  269. Game of Life says:

    Lies told by inhofe:

    The War Lie:
Inhofe claims the reasons for the gruesome Iraq occupation initially had nothing to do with finding weapons of mass destruction. Inhofe actually blames the press for the so-called “mischaracterization.”

    Then the fool said:

I believe including nuclear. There’s not one person on this panel who would tell you unequivocally that he doesn’t have the missile means now, or is nearly getting the missile means to deliver a weapon of mass destruction. And I for one am not willing to wait for that to happen.”

    The Enviornment Lie:

“Today’s action by the EPA is the beginning of a regulatory barrage that will destroy jobs, raise energy prices for consumers, and undermine America’s global competitiveness,” Inhofe said. “It’s worth noting that the solution to this ‘glorious mess’ is not for Congress to pass cap-and-trade legislation, which replaces one very bad approach with another. Congress should pass a simple, narrowly-targeted bill that stops EPA in its tracks.”

    The Degree Lie:

“For 35 years, in political biographies, engagement announcements and alumni directories, Inhofe said he graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1959 with a degree in economics” But later it was discovered he did not graduate from the university until 1973 when he served as a state senator.

    The Dirty Politics:

Inhofe is known as one of Oklahoma’s most negative campaigners. In 1994, for example, as he ran for U.S. Senate, a pro-Inhofe heckler wearing a Pinocchio nose appeared at a debate. The heckler was “a paid political thug,” according to Inhofe’s opponent, Dave McCurdy. Later the heckler was discovered to be Rob Anders, a paid Inhofe campaign worker

    The Bigoted Liar:

On June 6, 2006, standing on the Senate floor before a large photograph of his family, Inhofe said, “I’m really proud to say that in the recorded history of our family, we’ve never had a divorce or any kind of homosexual relationship.”

    The Carol Browner Lie:

He accused her of being “a leader of a socialist group.” (She’s not.)

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

on inhofe, I have been making enough noise that I recieved a personal call from him trying to get me to “see things the way they are”

I invited him to meet with the groups that I have been working with and he has tenatively agreed but wants conditions.

The democrats in our area are working hard using common sense approaches to rebutting inhofe and coburn’s message and it seems we are getting a foot in the door in places that makes the local gop nervous. Cheer us on.

We could hire more people but we CAN’T afford the insurance for them. And God help us if one gets a serious illness, we have had insurance terminate the whole company.

  280. Fred says:

The argument with the conservatives in our area(remember they are largly on SS)has been to discuss health reform in terms of medicare, etc.

Making sure they understand that it is a social program and discussing where they would be now without it and who is responsible for it’s existance and who wants to get rid of it.

Purchase is slow but once you get some of them talking it does seem to be gaining ground.

They all have families and their families are all facing the problems that exist with health care today.

They are all very upset with insurance companies as well they should be.

The one biggest selling point has been when we can get thier attention long enough to make them admit who has Americans best interest at heart and differenciate that with who is looking out for profits and don’t care if people suffer if it affects a bottom line.

    onward ever upward.

    texaslady says:
Fred, no one is self made everyone has had help along the way, but so many “new” conservatives forget the help they had. Can you tell I have a disappointing relative like that ?

Exactly texaslady, just like joe, the self made man:

Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised.

All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer’s medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance – now Joe gets it too.

He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.

In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained.

Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air.

He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.

Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union.

If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he’ll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn’t think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

It is noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.

Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. Joe also forgets that his in addition to his federally subsidized student loans, he attended a state funded university.

Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards to go along with the tax-payer funded roads.

He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers’ Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans.

The house didn’t have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification.

He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to.

Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn’t mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day. Joe agrees: “We don’t need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I’m a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have.”

  283. texaslady says:

Fred, explain to your friends that Medicare is being slowly pushed out and we need it back. The Advantage programs aren’t much of an advantage. And forget bush’s drug program, when I complained for a friend all the way to Austin was told I needed to speak to Congress. The whole cost of the drug is taken from the 2700, not just what is paid out of pocket and from insurance. So, no wonder 2700 is a drop in the bucket and you are on your own. How is it that a company gets OVER what he agreed to get from his product ? Our company only gets what we agreed to sell the product for.

This man is an a**hole supreme. One wonders if he’s read the Constitution. Or the Bible (which Repubs love to invoke). Or any book that doesn’t have pictures in it. Or anything, actually. He sounds as though he’s illiterate, since he can’t say he ever read anything. This man has proven dozens of times lately that he is an ill-informed, dishonest, stupid jerk who cares absolutely nothing about the good of his constituents, let alone his country. Frankly, anyone who admits they haven’t read a document should be banned from voting on it. And there should be a test to be sure they have read it, just like the rest of us are tested all the time. High school, college, university, job interviews– we are tested on what we’ve read &/or what we know. Why are politicians (Repubs in particular) allowed to be totally ignorant about matters they vote on? Good Lord. Test these jerks, and if they don’t know what the hell they’re talking about, ban them from voting or commenting.

I’m tired of people like southern man acting like he still has a seat at the table and has a right to sit in judgment of anyone.

the recent conservative experiment has just failed in a way that can only be compared to the failure of the USSR. Utter and complete failure.

I wouldn’t mind if sm and other trolls wanted to actually talk about issues but when they come here all “holier than thou” I just want to puke.

It just shows you how little they really know about what is really going on in the world they live in.

the gop doesn’t even know who it’s leader is. A radio thug or a token black man that can’t keep his story straight.

How can they do anything? You gonna sprinkle some fairy dust on it?

Oh, I love it when you make definative statements about a very unlikely future. YOu know, like, they have wmd’s and we know where they are.

Yep, you have credibility. Ha, I bet you don’t even have credit.

Jimmy Inhofe to a school where:

If one reliably describes the real world in minute and precise detail? One flunks.

If one can deny enough reality to Believe a few chosen lies? One passes.

If one can successfully deny any and all objective evidence on every subject? One is promoted to teacher.

dbadass, perhaps the business produces educational films directed toward a mature audience… say, an audience that has to constantly deal with repairmen arriving to fix their cable TV just at the same moment they emerge from the shower…

kw claiming his uber productive business was self made reminds of a freind who’s parents put him through school.
Then gave him a down paymnent on his condo for a graduation present.

Then several years ago when the R.E. market was kicking butt he sold his condo for three times what he paid for it, moved into the most expensive area in town and married a woman who had a business – and he now works for her.

He’s a dyed in the wool republican (who I can’t talk to anymore) who thinks he’s a self made man too.

It’s a right I don’t take lightly. And I pay attention. We wear different glasses and see the world differently. You believe in what you believe and I believe what I believe. The difference between you and me is the hatred. I don’t hate you. I just don’t agree with you.

No you don’t have a seat at the table. Your reps are the party of no and we understand what that means.

You lost enough representation and power that you really don’t matter right now and I only see that as getting worse for you.

You have a vote. You threw it away. Elections have consequenses.

You have been judged to be unworthy of judging others by your actions and the hate you mention is nourished by your side of the isle.

    1. The democrats don’t use scare tactics against seniors. Never have never will.

    2. The past few reublican presidents have either tried to eliminate SS and/or medicare, or they have at minimum voiced their opposition to these programs.

    3. Are you saying democrats drag black men behind pickups? I’m afraid your projecting.

  350. Lora says:

As I pointed out on another thread, I have lived in Japan, which has a public option. The government never interfered with my choice of doctors, dentists, or pharmacies. On the other hand, when I was in a car accident, I had to fight with the insurance company of the man who caused the accident to get the sort of treatment I wanted and to change hospitals. I suggest you teabaggers, first of all, look up the meaning of “option,” as it has nothing to do with control.

    AxThrower says:
Maybe he sees what a lot of folks in this country see. that this bill is about CONTROL. Not about health care.

  351. Lora says:

The city in which I own a condo requires smoke detectors to be installed in all apartment houses, condos, etc. That sounds like government control to me.
BTW, how many families do you have?

    Ax Thrower says:
As a matter of fact when I bought my house..I installed smoke detectors in every room along with fire extinguishers.
Because I can and know how to take responsibilty for my families(SIC) safety.

  352. Lora says:

    To unamusinghypocrite,
Of course, HEATH-care is not a Constitutionally-mandated right, because heaths do not even exist throughout the United States. The discussion here is about HEALTH care.
BTW, if you are still having trouble with the adverb “hypocritically,” try your computer’s spelling check, which will find nothing wrong with it, even if you do.

    unamusinghypocrite says:
Heath care, on the other hand, is not a Constitutionally-mandated right.

  353. labman57 says:

Of course, we all know the Republican Party’s position on health care reform. Status quo. Do nothing.

Some conservatives self-servingly declare that “health care is a privilege, not a right”, essentially stating that if a person cannot afford health care, then they are simply taking up oxygen and deserve to die anyway. And if businesses are in danger of going bankrupt due to rising health care benefit costs, then they should eliminate all benefits–give the newfound savings to the stockholders and executives, as God intended it to be.

    .

    Southern Man 2 says:

I think for myself. Not all of us are extreme.

The voices of rational conservatives are the only thing that’s really being drowned out by the screaming of the crazy ones. Maybe you should concentrate on getting your own house in order sometime soon.

  357. lvdragonlady says:

    ROFL LMAO
It appears that Inhofe was left behind in school because the only VALID reason for him NOT reading this very important piece of legislation would be because he can not read.
