Palin bungles another event invitation, claiming she was never asked to attend.

Tonight’s Alaska Family Council event promoting an anti-choice statewide ballot measure was supposed to be Sarah Palin’s first public appearance since stepping down as governor. However, Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton now says that Palin won’t be attending because organizers never asked her. Family Council officials insist that they have been talking to Palin “contacts” for weeks and had confirmed her participation. As of today, the Alaska Family Council is still promoting Palin as one of the event’s headliners on its website:

The new announcement marks at least the fourth time this year Palin has played this game with event organizers:

1. Conservative Political Action Conference, February 2009: After originally indicating that she would attend, Palin backed out and said that the “duties of governing” prevented her from going.

2. Republican Fundraising Dinner, June 2009: The NRSC and the NRCC issued a press release announcing that Palin would keynote their annual fundraising dinner. Palin’s staff then said governor would not be attending. When the NRSC and NRCC instead turned to Newt Gingrich, Palin’s team balked that the governor could no longer give a speech.

3. Reagan Library Speech, August 2009: In July, the Republican Women Federated of Simi Valley sent out a press released announcing that Palin would be attending its 50th anniversary gala at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. A few days before the event, Palin backed out. Her spokeswoman said that she had never “committed to attending this event or speaking at this event.”

In January, Palin also turned down an invitation to the RNC’s winter retreat, citing “pressing state business.” Instead, she went to DC and attended the elite Alfalfa Club dinner.

This makes absolutely no sense at all. If Palin stepped down so she could be free to attend some of these gigs, she needs to start attending some of them to keep herself on the radar.

On the other hand, if Palin stepped down because she was genuinely tired of the relentless spotlight, it shouldn’t be that difficult to let it be known she isn’t interested in any of these events.

My guess? She’s trying to keep a foot in the door without being put in a position where she’s going to be made fun of on The Daily Show or the Colbert Report. Unfortunately, she can’t have it both ways.

Or maybe she just needs a new agent — one who will pass invitations on to her so she’s aware of them.

Sarah doesn’t do well sharing the stage with African Americans. She lost the Beauty Contest to a black woman and then lost the White House to a black man. Sarah would accept it if she had to share the stage with a white male.

Actually, Mudflats has her up to 7 or 8 of these – some were no show and others were showing up at the last minute and wanting special privileges.

Wonderfully funny cartoons of Palin at this website:
    http://www.themudflats.net/

She’s also got more trash on her FaceBook page about the so-called Death book for veterans. She is so disgusting, and reading the responses from her loyal followers makes one wonder where all the idiots come from!

Some of the posters on Mudflats are wondering if she’s in contact with the C Street gang. It wouldn’t surprise me as the folks who head up the Family are the same ones who run Sarah’s quirky church in Wasilla.

BTW – I’ve started reading Jeff Sharlet’s book “The Family” and it is scary! Had nightmares all night long – will only read it in the daytime from now on!

  39. MapleStreet says:

OK, I could understand a VP candidate having such a busy calendar that they bungle a couple of dates. But this happens so regularly that I am forced to conclude that:

    a) she can’t even keep a calendar which implies she is nowhere close to being able to deal with the complexity of leadership. This is made worse by the fact that she effectively has removed herself already from all responsibilities a governor of Alaska.

    b) As these are in her state, she isn’t even dealing well with a state with the population of Alaska.

    c) As this is a pro-Life event, she seems rather soft on her support Pro-Life.

  43. dasm says:

Palin is a loser & a quitter. A loser & a quitter. Worth repeating, because she’s a loser & a quitter. She has proved she will never, EVER be even senator material, let alone VP or P. She quits, backs out, flips off, and is a loser. And then she lies about why she’s a quitter! And a loser. Is that clear?

  44. trooper says:

BWAHAHAHAH! i love it! this stupid trailer park bimbo cant even keep her lies straight from day to day.

and she was supposed to be VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES?

good old Wifecheater MacCrashfiveplanes sure does know how to pick em, dont he?

    It seems so.

Maybe the popular clique kick her ass out.

    HAHAHAHAHA

    She is a dizzy broad.

  51. Pennsylvanianne says:

After this has happened time and again, I am inclined to believe Sarah may have attention deficit hyperactivity. She dithers so much on simple invitations, how can anyone determine what her beliefs are?

  52. diffrntdrummr says:

Sounds like Sarah has a serious problem. Well, many serious problems, but I digress.A simple solution….Inform Sarah that her presence is NOT required at their special event and she will just show up!!Either out of ignorance or spite, but what’s the difference. They still get her to come.Problem solved.

  53. The Shadow says:

I am unviting Sara Palin to show up at my house tomorrow night. That way I know that she will show up unannounced. I would never ever vote for Sara, but man oh man what a hottie! That’s why my plan is to unvite her and hope she shows up looking hot as ever. Todd doesn’t know what to do with that, but I do! I wish I was rich, man I’d probably switch parties and marry Sara. But I still wouldn’t vote for her. I’d just lie to her and say: “Of course I’m voting for you Sara”.

  54. Zooey says:

    The Shadow,

If you married that moron, you’d be forced to listen to her speak once in a while. :P

  55. Lora says:

Sarah sounds bipolar to me, or, as Pennsylvanianne noted, perhaps she has an attention deficit problem.

  56. The Shadow says:

You got that right Zooey. Whe may not be a blonde, but she’s dumb. Actually I was joking about marrying her, she’s a dumb as a box of rocks. I can’t stand her voice anyway.

  57. Marnie says:

Considering that there has been a good deal of pre-event publicity about this event and Sarah’s presence there, what planet does the Palin orginization live on that they were unaware of the pre-event publicity?

If I knew that Sarah was going to speak, and I’m not a Sarah fan, then why would Sarah (who obviously still doesn’t watch news or read news) or her appointment secretary, or PR persons not know?

The absence of knowledge of current events, not baby spoon fed to her as talking points, explains a lot about how dysfunction and down right dumb she and her staff repeatedly show themselves to be.

  58. Bluestocking says:

You know what they say — once is an accident or an oversight, but twice starts to look like carelessness or negligence, and three or more times should be considered a consistent pattern. I don’t know about anyone else — but I’d call four incidents in eight months of Palin pledging to appear only to renege later on definitely suggests a consistent pattern, one which strongly suggests (apart from her beliefs) that she doesn’t really have what it takes to make a truly effective leader.

No matter how you try to slice this, it doesn’t make Palin look good. I find it very hard to believe that Palin has such poor communication with her own staff that they’re telling people she’ll appear at an event without even asking her about it in advance — and if by chance that has been happening, then what does it say about Palin’s judgment in terms of hiring decisions and delegating authority? Nothing good. Agreeing to attend and then reneging also suggests poor time management skills on Palin’s part and/or of someone on her staff — also not a good sign in a leader. Palin’s expectation that she would still give a speech to the Republican Fundraising Dinner despite the fact that she’d backed out on attending is also suggestive of narcissism and petulance — an assumption that other people should be happy to go to whatever lengths they must in order to cater to her whims.

In any case, two consistent patterns stand out significantly — either one of which should give a rational person pause when evaluating a person for leadership. One is Palin’s apparent reluctance to see her commitments through to their conclusion — something which seems to have followed her throughout her life. She seems to have had problems with this even as a college student — didn’t it take her five years to finish college, in part because she apparently couldn’t find it in herself to spend more than one year at any one school? From what I’ve read, her recent decision to resign from the gubernatorial seat before completing her term is not the first time she’s stepped down from an important assignment before it ended. There’s also talk, even if only in the tabloids, that she may be divorcing her husband. the second trait which stands out is a tendency to pass the buck and blame anything which goes wrong on someone else, and we’ve seen this on many occasions — from the $150K shopping spree which she claims she had no hand in, to the failure of the McCain campaign, to her decision to resign her seat. It’s always someone else’s fault — but a woman who’s managed to become governor of a state is anything but the helpless victim she finds it convenient to portray herself as being, especially since there are actually very few genuine victims in this life but plenty of reluctant collaborators.
