Radical ‘Birther’ Kreep Launches DefendGlenn.Com

picture-1

After Fox News star Glenn Beck accused President Obama of being a “racist” with a “deep-seated hatred for white people,” a drive by Color Of Change has convinced 46 companies to cancel their advertisements on his show. In response, Beck and FoxNews have launched increasingly vicious attacks on White House official Van Jones, who co-founded Color Of Change in 2005 following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

Now radical right-winger Gary Kreep, head of the United States Justice Foundation, is leaping to Beck’s assistance. He has established DefendGlenn.com, not to justify Beck’s indefensible hate speech, but to spread smears about Color Of Change and Van Jones. On the website, Kreep instructs Glenn Beck fans to tell advertisers that Van Jones “went to prison for inciting the 1992 Rodney King riots in L.A.”:

Tell them CoC’s founder went to prison for inciting the 1992 L.A. Riots, and accused President Bush of giving troops orders to shoot black people after Hurricane Katrina.

In reality, Van Jones was a legal observer in San Francisco, not Los Angeles, during a non-violent rally that took place after, not before the riots. Jones and hundreds of others were seized in a mass arrest. He was released within a few hours, all charges were dropped, and “the City of San Francisco ultimately compensated him financially for his unjust arrest.”

Jones also has never “accused President Bush of giving troops orders to shoot black people after Hurricane Katrina,” as the DefendGlenn site claims. Kreep’s inflammatory lie has no factual basis whatsoever.

Kreep’s unhinged attacks come as no surprise, however. He is one of the leaders of the “birther” movement, claiming that President Obama is not a citizen of the United States.

Update In a comically-entertaining segment with a psychiatrist yesterday, Beck complained about the things that "blogs and everything else" have been calling him. "I'm a freak show...hysterical...a shameless opportunist...I'm full of crap...spineless, coward, I love that...and I'm just a fear-mongering whatever," Beck said. Watch it:

To deal with the constant influx of criticisms, the psychiatrist's advice for Beck was to take the perspective of "dealing with people who are addicted to drugs." Beck agreed, arguing that "alcoholics and drug-addicts" will "save this country."

Beck is the issue not Van Jones. This is just more obfuscation of the real problem. Fox is looking for a way around the controversy.

  21. hellinabucket says:

I don’t think Color of Change convinced 46 companies to pull their ads from Beck. I believe Glenn Beck convinced them after taking a close look at what is on his show. A fact free fear fest is probably something these 46 companies don’t want to be connected with.

    hellinabucket says:
I don’t think Color of Change convinced 46 companies to pull their ads from Beck. I believe Glenn Beck convinced them after taking a close look at what is on his show.

Exactly right. Had Beck not called the President a racist who harbors a “deep-seated hatred of white people”, Van Jones would not have been able to convince 46 advertisers to cancel their ad support of a show that draws decent ratings of easily-persuaded non-thinkers.

And my guess is that the reaction was not against Beck’s submerged racism so much as against he comment’s abject stupidity.

  23. Wiz says:

Glen left off one name from his white board: hypocrite. He has the nerve to complain about name calling after calling Obama a racist? The only other explanation besides hypocrisy, is brain damage caused by alcohol addiction.

  24. toonguy says:

I can’t imagine a self-righteous, self-absorbed blowhard like Beck would be caught within 200 yards of a real member of the mental health profession. That would be akin to admitting he has a problem that needs fixing. In Beck’s world, it’s everyone else who has the problem and he’ll destroy America while trying to fix it.

  25. ralph the wonder llama says:

Saaaay… what ever happened to Beck “Comedy Tour”?

Wasn’t that supposed to reawaken the dormant American spirit or something like that?

Oh yeah — Glenn is SUCH a victim. My heart just bleeds for him.

It’s really hard to feel sorry for somebody who complains that he gets picked on (or has others do the complaining for him), when this is pretty much what he does to others for a living.

  29. 5th Estate says:

  44. wordboi says:

Every honorable Christian should raise their voice against having people like Beck sully true Christian thought. Beck is a scurrying rat trying to bale water out of his sinking ship. Hopefully the Defend Glenner’s, will go down with the ship as well.

I am not a Christian, but know many good, kindhearted, warm and loving people that are. I see a pall of horror sweep over them whenever Beck and his like consider themselves devout Christians. Luckily the true Christians I know, have open hearts and pray for Beck’s and friend’s absolution.

They (Beck, Palin, Rush, Kreep, and their supporters) attack anyone who has the brains to see through to their “basic hatred” of anyone who isn’t white, yet are the first to accuse anyone of “pulling the race card”, even as they surreptitiously and obliquely foment racism daily. Bottom line is they hate being called out on it. Their usual defense is a surprised, “Who me?” Pitifully, they won’t even accept accountability for their loathsome rhetoric.

Really? Bringing on to his show a psychiatrist in his defense, really? Looked rather sheepish to me. Is that the only defense he had, sounds like misdirected authoritarian transference to me. Also beginning the segment with a phrase his mom always taught him: “Stick and stones will break…” well you know the rest of it. I was surprised he didn’t curl up into a fetal position. The whole segment would have been better off kept in the psychiatrist office where it belonged.

So, in other words, Beck is allowed to go on nation-wide television and call our president a racist, with a “…deep-seated hatred toward white people”, but no one can question Beck’s character without being called something akin to being an addict? Is there any real logic to this behavior?

The only honorable thing Beck said during the segment is to admit to his alcoholism. As most of us who have worked with people in recovery will know, that one of the characteristics of an addict, in recovery or not, is that they tend toward the self-centrism. It’s difficult for them to see beyond their cravings for their drug of choice. Clearly, Beck has not gotten past that milestone yet. Instead substituting it with another one. What better substitute addiction is there than having your own show and getting high off the adoration of others?

Lastly the appropriately named Kreep, and his fellow organizers, are liars and hate promoters; and I wouldn’t be surprised if they have just a streak of white supremacist blood running through their veins. They hide behind flag, God, and country without any introspective thought about their own behavior.

I wonder what how Beck and make will be welcomed when they reach those pearly gates?

  45. martianbeauty says:

Soapbox has it right . Murdoch is Aussie he should have to produce an american birth certificate to be able to own an American media outlet.

  46. Fred says:

    did beck lose his bootstraps?

He has a huge tv audience and yet he need somone to defend him against a guy with a website?

he was the kid that hid behind mommies skirts to keep from getting his as$ kicked.

  47. WaltB says:

I honestly am beginning to believe we’re heading for a second Civil War. The hate, bigotry and unbelievable filth people like Beck and his ‘followers’, coupled with the same from Limburger & company, spout can lead us no where else. Doesn’t matter how few in number they are, they’re so noisy and promoted so much by the media, that they gain followers and credibility daily. We’re edging closer and closer to a cliff with every time they get aired, talked about in the media, or whatever. Just one instance of a home-grown terrorist event, like Oklahoma City or even close, will cause a major crack down by law enforcement and the right will be screaming even louder than now. They don’t realize how they’re setting themselves up to become the hunted.

  48. Krazny says:

  59. Jeremy Henderson says:

    Ok, there’s a section there at 3:50 that I find a bit puzzling…

Beck: If you’re a Conservative at least, you have been vilified for so long, you’ve had to do all the soul-searching. If you ARE A racist…well you got some problems anyway…you KNOW who you are! Are you this, are you that? You’ve been accused of everything under the sun! So, you know the TRUTH! What difference does it make what they say?

Is he really telling racists to just be themselves and ignore criticism here?

  60. Wayne A. Schneider says:

I’m really getting tired of this righty tactic of claiming that pointing out a few home truths about GlennBeck is an attack.

It’s that whole black-or-white-no-shades-of-gray thinking characteristic of so many on the right. You’re either for something or you’re against it; you either love someone or you hate them; you’re either singing someone’s praises or you’re attacking them. There is no in-between.

Because in their minds, being influenced by the shades of gray is a weakness, not a strength. Being able to see how both sides of an argument might have a point is too empathic, too open-minded. To them, one side is right and one side is wrong – always. And since they will never accept even the remote possibility that they are wrong and we are right, they view us as the evil ones, the ones who must be destroyed. Not simply ignored, but destroyed, because they can’t stand the thought of anyone believing they are ever wrong.

IMHO, there really is something pathologically wrong with right-wingers.

  61. laprofesora says:

  67. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    Zooey,

I do not believe that Rupert Murdoch ever wanted Fox News Channel to make money, he just wanted to use it to advance his conservative agenda. Remember that the right wing’s main problem has been one of having their ideas accepted by mainstream America. FNC is just of many cogs in the Republican Noise Machine, spewing one lie after another in an effort to gain public support for the right wing agenda. That this support is being garnered through lies and distortions is irrelevant to them, as long as they win in the end.

They have been lying for so long that they have no idea how much of what they say is untrue.

  120. GreatGranny2B says:

@#47 – Couldn’t agree with you more as to things getting out of hand. Some of the righty-sites are talking of armed insurrection, Bachmann and Palin are urging people to arm themselves, one of the whackos for today’s march to Austin said they’d have some canon along and anyone who could be armed should do so. I’m surprised that HuffPost has not had anything, nor any of the MSM, about this.

@#81 – None of us are afraid Palin will ever get anywhere near the White House. She’s a joke, she’s got trouble now with the Feds over her SarahPAC, she caused a moratorium on Medicaid in Alaska because of her mismanagement that resulted in the deaths of over 200 aging people……..and the list goes on and on. We keep on eye on her comings and goings because she gives us a laugh, and serves as a reminder to watch out for do-gooder, avowed-Christian, Republicans. I’m sure the only reason McCain chose her was because Hillary did not get the nomination and McCain probably thought by naming a female that he’d draw the Hillary supporters.

  121. P.D. says:

LOL! Defend Glenn Beck? Dozens of advertisers ditched him, and these as*holes think it is some kind of conspricy? The fact that he called Obama a racist I guess is moot. After reelection, Nixon did promote a health plan in his 1974 State of the Union speech, with a call for universal access to health insurance. @#123 – Here’s the link: http://www.themudflats.net/Medicaid Moratorium in Alaska Lifted
From one of the postings, here is a recap:

    Review:

-254 elderly and disabled Alaskans died in a 2 1/2 year period waiting for assessment or reassessment under the state Medicaid system while Palin was the top bureaucrat in Alaska.

-Gross mismanagement, understaffing, and underfunding were targeted as the main causes of the weaknesses in this state program.

-Palin instituted a hiring freeze in the interests of “fiscal conservatism” during this time which only exacerbated the understaffing situation……where people were dying.

-Palin gave out $700 million in checks to all Alaskans from the General Fund (in addition to Perm. Fund checks) despite the underfunding problems in the Medicaid system….where people were dying.

-The state was so “unresponsive” to the physicians’ concerns about the program’s inadequacies that they and other health care workers went outside the state system by taking their complaints and concerns to the federal level…..thus bringing down the investigation and moratorium.

-Palin gave her resignation speech only a week or so before the damning report on the Alaskan Medicaid problems went public. Quitter and coward that she is…..she left Parnell to clean up the mess from her watch.

-Thanks to Senators Begich and Murkowski, the moratorium has been lifted so that Alaskans can be served while much needed changes are implemented.

The Anchorage Daily News (http://www.adn.com) has a number of articles on this issue – just do a search for “Medicaid Moratorium” and you’ll find articles going back into several months.

The Mudflats is primarily an Alaskan blog that has kept tabs on Palin and her antics, but they also have a super blog going right now. On the opening page, scroll way down and you’ll find this one: Glen Beck Death Watch

Slightly O/T – One of Palin’s fans has suggested that Mitt Romney appoint her to fill Ted Kennedy’s senate seat! Shows the level of intellect – Romney is no longer Governor of Massachusetts, and Palin (to the best of my knowledge) hasn’t taken up residency in that state either.

  129. donaldinks says:

That being said…it speaks volumes to the basic intelligence and schooling of the masses, as a whole.

That’s hysterical! Another one of the Defenders of the Consteetooshun that has no idea at all what might be in it. Or much of anything else, apparently.

  131. Winski says:

One could speculate for days why beck needs a psychiatrist on his program for analysis but you could make up stories for years and most would be true.

Since beck’s new deal is to “only deal in facts’ regardless of what either right or left think and he doesn’t care anymore because his doc friend came on and told him ‘your alright’ that people call him rude names all over the place. One needs only to remind him..Your whole show beck is based on LIES ! But of course, lets not let REAL facts get in the way of ‘fabricated’ facts…the statement:

“Kreep instructs Glenn Beck fans to tell advertisers that Van Jones “went to prison for inciting the 1992 Rodney King riots in L.A.”:

Tell them CoC’s founder went to prison for inciting the 1992 L.A. Riots, and accused President Bush of giving troops orders to shoot black people after Hurricane Katrina.

In reality, Van Jones was a legal observer in San Francisco, not Los Angeles, during a non-violent rally that took place after, not before the riots. Jones and hundreds of others were seized in a mass arrest. He was released within a few hours, all charges were dropped, and “the City of San Francisco ultimately compensated him financially for his unjust arrest.”

Should this not point out to beck and his band of merry loons that REAL facts trump FABRICATED facts..what’s seems to be the diff to beck and his klan glee-club maniacs?? It may be a good thing for beck that he has a bud that’s a psychiatrist because when Rupe runs out of ‘filler trash’ to take the slots where real advertisers should go on beck’s program – he’s done….teehee…..

  132. Xisithrus says:

In short, you’re admitting that Beck, Palin and all of the wingnut pundit and political figures brazenly lie and manipulate a populace that makes the mistake of taking them seriously. And yet you treat this is a good thing? You’re bad for America.

I (and I’m presuming most advertisers) wouldn’t gamble my money on that though. Sure, people will initially slow down to watch a train wreck, but it doesn’t take long before traffic eventually returns to normal.

And yes, FOX *would* be losing money shuffling advertisers around. You’re only kidding yourself if you think Billy Mays adverts gain FOX as much money as Applebees or Kraft. For one, the commercials are cheaper; for second, more people will spend money on Mac and Cheese than will ever buy OxyClean.

@#149 – Another $650,000 went missing for awhile – had been designated for something to do with weatherization, heating assistance, etc. – finally turned up after an audit. In the meantime, hundreds of Native Americans in the remote villages were near starvation and freezing for want of food and fuel assistance. Another one of Palin’s changes was in who could do how much fishing. NA’s can no longer do subsistance fishing as they once did, yet commercial entities (of which Palin’s husband is one) now have more rights than simple people trying to survive in their own little villages. People from all over the world contributed food and money to help them. After SIX WEEKS, Sarah showed up at one of the villages for a photo op with some preacher, a bunch of religious pamphlets, and plates of cookies. So much for really taking care of her people……..and her own husband is part Native American.

@#152 – Only too true! In addition to the deaths she must take some responsibility for, she had in fact signed a law back in 2007 (if I remember correctly), which was no different than what was in the Medicare bill that Grassley signed and conveniently forgot, and no different than what had been proposed in the new legislation – hypocrisy abounds.

Check yer math, BHB. That’s 0.66% of the population, which would ordinarily round up to 1%. Not that they’re any the less loony for that. Or just plain too stupid to know better.

My apologies to anyone who listens to or views Beck for the (nonexistent) entertainment value; I suppose it could be kinda like the old Rocky Horror deal, where you get to re-enact certain rituals at various points in the viewing; spew vomit at the screen, throw the bowl of popcorn at the dog, bellow a curse at a Sham-Wow commercial, etc.

You are funny. I love to laugh at morons as stupid as you. Dont you ignorant piece of garbage ever realize how stupid you make yourselves look with posts as abjectly stupid as yours? What are you a mentally challenged five year old? Isnt it time for you to go back to your day job blowing crackheads for pocketchange? What a worthless pathetic moron you are.

  204. EugeneDebs says:

imalCONSERVATIVEpuke says: Something monumentally ignorant which is the only thing he is capable of even TRYING to say. Who cares if he IS a Marxist. That isnt illegal you inbred piece of filth. The rest of your idiocy is just rewarmed Limborg talking points too stupid to even aknowledge. Look you are stupid and you are always going to BE stupid. You even KNOW you are too stupid to hold a conversation that is why you dump your trollturd then run like the ignorant coward you are. Just STFU and let the adults talk

  205. EugeneDebs says:

SlappyMoron. You are so pathetic. It is pitiful to watch you continue to beg us to pity you even when it is so useless. Your posts go directly to the sewer. No one reads them. They KNOW a slappy post is nothing but a desperate plea begging us to pity you and just get rid of them as soon as possible to minimize the embarassment we all feel for you. What a pathetic dreg of humanity you are.

First, please tell us how a male prostitute, wanted for tax evasion and using a phony name, who was rejected for admission to the Congressional press club, passed a background check to get into the Bush White House for both press conferences and overnight stays. As Dummy Rumsfeld would say, “Stuff happens.”

    imapuke says
How does a self admitted communist/felon pass a back ground check to get into the White House? Who has that kind of power?

I have read “Rules for Radicals”…

Man, it sounds like a whole lot more conservatives than liberals have read that thing by now. You guys just won’t shut up about this thing I’d never heard about. Seriously, I never even heard about such a thing until you guys kept mentioning it over and over and over. Some time I’ll probably get around to reading it, but by then it’ll be a political moot point. So until then, I guess you’ll have to keep telling us what we’re suppsed to believe… or something like that. Thanks for keeping up on the liberal-thought avant-garde for me, I guess.

  212. EugeneDebs says:

    SlappyMORON

YOU are stupid. Trying to explain something nuanced and profound to you is as useless as trying to explain quantum mechanics to a dustmite. You are a moron. YOU SlappyMORON will do NOTHING in your name OR mine except beg us for more pity because you are so stupid and pathetic. The most pathetic thing about you and that list is legion is that you THINK you are funny and clever when you NEVER manage anything but stupid and pathetic. I mean does someone REALLY have to explain THIS to you?

I don’t want you to follow me or anyone else. I would not lead you into the promised land if I could, because if I could lead you in, somebody else would lead you out.”

REALLY? A halfwitted four year old could understand the simplicity and profundity of that cogent point. YOU are so stupid you seem to think there is something wrong with it. Face it you are a moron. You are too stupid discuss anything. You always will be. The best you can hope for in life is to find some dignity and self respect and stop your constant begging for pity

  213. EugeneDebs says:

    ElBruce says:

Of course Rush mentioned it so its programmed into them. I think he is a liar. I dont think he has read it. I have the book. I only read part of it. I found it boring and obvious. Its like Machiavellis the Prince common sense tactical discussions without the moral aspect discussed. The only difference is it is geared for the power of demographics and those without the political power instead of elite powerbrokers. Its nothing.

  214. ElBruce says:

Well, all I know is Rush is making this Alinsky guy a lot of money. The rest of us keep scratching our heads as to what it’s supposed to be about, but according to wingnut belief Alinsky must be a genius because he’s getting rich.

Remember: all rich people are brilliant, so you have to listen to them. Ayn Rand said so.

  215. dbadass says:

wow all of you are rather dumb. you all sit in your rooms and play world of warcraft and get on liberal blogs while your mom makes you cheese and crackers. glenn beck is extremely smart, actually has a thought process, can think without being told how, and can get this country together. SEE YA ON THE BATTLEFIELD WITH YOUR MUSKETS RAISED HIGH! CIVIL WAR II!!!

It wouldn’t bother me a bit if someone was wearing an anti-Olberman or anti-Maddow shirt, I would in no way feel angry. I find it strange that the right are so overly outraged when someone does not fall in line with their beliefs.

This weekend I purchased two more anti-fox news t-shirts.

It’s just pulling them off of a list and posting them here. When they lose the ability to actually construct coherent debate points, they just start copy/pasting from pre-approved media. There was another one doing it with quotes the other day.

Hey, I found another one, check this out:

Q: Your in a room with Hitler, Mussolini, and Nancy Pelosi and you only have 2 bullets. What should you do?

    A: Shoot Pelosi twice

Get it? Hitler and Mussolini are OK by them, ha ha! Ha ha, wait…

    .

    Dr. Hussein Matt says:

Q: How do you spot a group of conservatives?

It’s OK by them, because they made a condom by cutting a hole in the Constitution and raping her through it.

    .

What are you people afraid of? You forgot to mention in this article that most of the advertisers who pulled from Glenn Beck are also pulling from Cable News Talk Shows Altogether. thanks to Color of Change. Why the double Standard? MSNBC and other Liberal News shows called President Bush a Racist and more. Why no Uproar then? Color of Change was selling a T-Shirt on their website that says: “Kayne was Right” which refers to the “Bush gave orders to shoot Black People. Google It!!! I support Glenn Beck and all the wonderful news he is facting to the American People!!

You forgot to mention in this article that most of the advertisers who pulled from Glenn Beck are also pulling from Cable News Talk Shows Altogether. thanks to Color of Change.

    Citation? Link? Proof? Anything?

But I wouldn’t blame ‘em if they pulled from at least a couple of networks; if advertising on Beck was too controversial, then FAUX News in general is too. Probably MSNBC while I’m at it. But the rest of ‘em would be OK.

Which would be just as well. Media outlets should stop being rewarded for taking partisan positions. It’s not what so-called “news” channels should do. I’d be willing to say let’s have no more MSNBC if it also meant having no more FAUX News. I’d have a hard time living a Maddow-less existence, but it’d be worth it in the long run.

Color of Change was selling a T-Shirt on their website that says: “Kayne was Right”

It’s “Kanye,” and I’m pretty sure what he said was “Bush doesn’t care about black people.” It was pretty widely reported at the time, so you know, we can actually look things up.

    .

    nitty says:

I support Glenn Beck and all the wonderful news he is facting to the American People!!

Wonderful news? He’s usually crying about doom and gloom all the time. Even if you believe it to be true, how is that “wonderful?”

Also, “fact” is not a verb. At least, not in its normal meaning. But I have a feeling you mean something else completely by it.

  259. derrickhozw says:

Apparently there are some “good” reasons to defend Beck. http://www.newsy.com/videos/glenn_beck_does_he_help_or_hurt_america. I’m not quite buying it though.

  260. Scarlet Red says:

Thank You Glenn Beck! Keep up the work that the MSM refuses to do, which is vetting and keeping us informed about the underhanded work that is taking place in Washington. Who do the Czars/Advisors report to? Congress, no! The president, yes! What is that all about? If you refuse to see what is taking place right in front of your own eyes and want communism instead of freedom then find a country where you ideals and beliefs can be obtained. Help keep America safe and free! Way to go Glenn and thank you Fox News for letting Glenn voice the concerns of the Patriotic American people. The American Communist and Socialist leaners have the MSM. The true american base are waking up and leaving the new Democratic Socialistic party in droves, the people staying behind are either being paid to blog and destroy the creditabilty of the American Patriots such as Glenn Beck or have something to personnally gain by having this administration succeed in the change of this wonderful country.

    Scarlet Red says:

You are stupid and demented. Seek professional help fast. Beck is a moron and a liar. The only thing he is doint the SCLM isnt is lying to gullible morons like YOU. I could go through and shred the stupid and long ago debunked talking points you spewed ignorantly throughout your stupid post but what would be the point. They have BEEN discredited and I get tired of doing the same refutations twenty times when the newest stupidest brainwashed cell of the Limborg hivemind comes late to the party and regurgitates the same stupid talking points we dispatched a dozen times last week.

  264. Scarlet Red says:

LOL, EugeneDebs how much do you get paid for expressing your imagination so vividly? It makes one think about what a poor self esteem & image you must about yourself, that you feel the need to attack others because they have a different opinion than yours. You may consider healthier choices to help you deal with your control issues. You may learn that it is ok and healthy to have different points of view. But, then again you can only think for yourself in a free country! Communist countries don’t let you share a different view if it differs from your leader. I prefer The United States of America to remain independent and free so I can exercise my right to express my opinions with out negative repercussions.
God Bless the United States of America and our Constitution
God Bless Glenn Beck and God Bless You!

  265. Kenneth says:

    Dear Glenn Beck Bashers.

Today during the Glenn Beck program on Tikilive internet there were over 1000 viewers, over the limit for this website. There were only 200 viewers of CNN. MSNBC is lost out there in space somewhere.

Wonder what the poor ratings for the Glenn Beck show was compared to the other cable news shows for this time period today?

Ummmmmmmm! Guess the sponsor boycott and the Glenn Beck bashing is really working – NOT!

  266. Lora says:

    To ScarletRed,
I admit that Debs can get carried away with his words, however why do you think you’re any better for accusing everyone who supports President Obama of being Communist, unpatriotic and against free speech?
