Yesterday, RNC Chairman Michael Steele made appearances in Indiana and Ohio, criticizing and taunting Reps. Baron Hill (D-IN) and Zack Space (D-OH). During an appearance in Zanesville, OH, Steele took aim at Space, offensively saying that he’s “climbing up on Nancy Pelosi’s lap“:
He took jabs at U.S. Rep. Zack Space for not holding a town-hall forum on the issue and “climbing up on Nancy Pelosi’s lap” by voting for cap-and-trade energy legislation and supporting the Democrats’ proposals to reform health care.
Steele asked those in attendance to pay attention to the debate throughout the fall because Democrats “are guaranteed to bury language in the bill with triggers to do what they want to get done.”
Get your head out of Limbaugh’s orifice before making statements like that Steele.
September 4th, 2009 at 4:43 pmSteele is accusing Democrats, before the fact, of legislating like former Republican Senator Phil Graham. Interesting.
September 4th, 2009 at 4:51 pmDoes Steele take lessons in how to be rude or does rudeness come to him naturally?
September 4th, 2009 at 4:55 pmThat’s the best they’ve got.
snicker, chortle
September 4th, 2009 at 4:56 pmSteele is a good boy he follows his Mister Limbaugh and now we see how well he does it. I wonder does Steele wash Limbaugh’s butt? Well as a good slave that Michael Steele is I’m sure he does a great job. We’re watching History as this conduct happen over 200 years ago even Thomas Jefferson treated his slaves better then Rush Limbaugh treat Michael Steele. Fox News has their lap dogs with African Americans who will do anything for a buck and hopes of being included. It’s interesting watching Republicans now it’s better then paying to see a movie.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:01 pmSeems appropriate he was selling lies in an automobile showroom.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:04 pm“Steele accuses Democratic congressman of ‘climbing up on Nancy Pelosi’s lap.’”
It’s a full moon everyday for the Republican party. Man, some of the lunatic comments from the GOP party is sinking their party lower by the minute. “Climbing up on Nancy Pelosi’s lap?” And this statement is coming from the RNC chairman that bows down and lick the boots of his employer El Rushbo. Stay classy Mike.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:05 pmMike Steele makes me think of an un-kind Urkel.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:11 pmHe’s speak so clearly for someone with a riech-wing, Rushbo appendage sticking inside of his mouth night and day.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:11 pmOh man, that guy is sharp, what a retort, must be part of his master plan.
Well, Steele does try and climb up on Rush’s lap….if he had one.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:13 pmJebus. Misogynistic asshat.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:14 pmWhy are there always so many elderly people at these meetings who are opposed to health care reform?
Bad case of “I’ve got mine, so y’all f uck off?”
September 4th, 2009 at 5:15 pmLike his GOoPer brethren, Mickey proves to be a petty little worm yet again.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:15 pmThe Republicans are teeing off. They are attacking and the Democrats are just sitting there taking it. They have no counter health care plan, these bums. They just want to get back to grafting as usual.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:16 pmSteele is true to who he is… a corporate lapdog.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:16 pm.
LIE-CHEAT-STEELE
Your NEW G(no)P!
.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:17 pmI think, Zooey, it’s more a case of being lied to so much that they can no longer distinguish truth from fiction.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:17 pmpete,
So why are they sitting in front of a guy who continues to lie to them?
September 4th, 2009 at 5:19 pmSteele is a fool….All that follow him or surround him are worse fools…people in the republican party who spew his lies AND their lies are fools… republicans are fools – and losers..
September 4th, 2009 at 5:21 pmI’m not sure that the Dems best tactic isn’t to just let the psychos rant. They don’t seem to be gaining new recruits so it might be best for the Dems to just quietly go back to work and not even dignify the batscat with a reply.
I think it’s pretty clear that the stupidest 20% of the electorate is going to behave stupidly no matter what facts are presented. Since they don’t arrive at their opinions logically there’s no use in logically refuting them and shouting slogans just reduces us to their level.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:23 pmI think Steele highjacked an assisted living bus so he wouldn’t be talking to an empty room. They thought they were going to the casino.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:24 pmIf this is the best the Republicans can do, then they are in for a long drought. People dislike both parties in Congress. This is not going to get voters to put more trust in the Republicans any more than the Dems.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:24 pmI think older people tend to predominate in Town Halls…because they are RETIRED.
I’d go to…if I didn’t have to be at work.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:26 pmOT, but, great news:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32695249/ns/us_news-security/
Ashcroft can be held personally liable for holding people who were wrongfully detained as material witnesses after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:27 pmZooey says:
So why are they sitting in front of a guy who continues to lie to them?
That is the trillion dollar question. My own theory is that it’s equal parts wishful thinking and simple prejudice (anti-liberal prejudice more than racism). They don’t want to Believe that “their guy” would lie to them so they can’t be convinced he’s lying regardless of evidence.
And, like I said in the other post, they don’t function logically as we non-conformists do.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:28 pmJeff Burton and Rep. Mike Conaway must be proud. They floated Steele as RNC chair.
Steele might want to get out of corporations lap, especially as they’re looking for another round of corporafornication.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:30 pmWTF? Does SteelyMike now envision Nancy Pelosi to be Santa Claus?
September 4th, 2009 at 5:37 pmPerhaps with a single payer plan he could afford to keep himself in meds.
Badger says:
I think older people tend to predominate in Town Halls…because they are RETIRED.
I’d go to…if I didn’t have to be at work.
And if you did come we would beat you with our canes.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:39 pmGolly, pags2,,,
what’s with the Singhapore Solution.
I just made the observation, which I think is true, that Retired people have more free time , and a less restrictive schedule.
I wish I could have gone to my local town hall, but it was scheduled in late morning….and skipping work was not an option for me. I have to settle for watching it on c-span.
I don’t presume to paint the “elderly” with a broad brush. While it is true that the over 55 demographic is the least sympathetic to Obama and his agenda…this fact did not stop a Grandmotherly looking women from giving it to Sen. Grassley with both barrels about citing the Lewin Group as an independent source of information.
September 4th, 2009 at 5:58 pmwhat’s with the Singhapore Solution.
Just a wee bit of humor. I think the older people are just as split as the rest of the country. Some of them were scared when the lies were being spread. But on the whole I think older people are more in favor of the public option. Many retired people are paying a fortune in medications. The people at the town halls appear to be those that are near retirement and the younger astroturfers.
September 4th, 2009 at 6:04 pmLap Dog
September 4th, 2009 at 6:34 pmPete@25
What we are seeing is a broad spectrum propaganda blitz. All the Republicans are trying to spew the same message, no matter how insane, they are all on message. This includes FOX News of course.
It doesn’t matter if the propaganda is an outright lie, that’s perfectly acceptable. The Republicans have taken fascist style propaganda to new heights of depravity.
September 4th, 2009 at 6:54 pmSteele is an uncle tom for the Rethuglican party he’s an embarrassment to African-Americans – shyte All Americans – even the stupid ones! He’d better hope I never see him anywhere – I’ll slap his face and risk going to jail for how much he humiliates us with his fu(ked up comments!!!!
September 4th, 2009 at 7:00 pmIt’s really hard to find a way to respond to this sexist crap from Steele. Everyone, & women in particular, take note– Steele (R) is a smirking, sexist pig. He has no intelligent comments to offer, so he falls back on blatant sexism & juvenile dirtiness. The equivalent of a giggling, naughty 5 year-old. My apologies to 5 year-olds.
September 4th, 2009 at 7:04 pmVery true, Levi, but I don’t see much sign that the propaganda is working on anyone but the rabid right. Maybe a few percentage points in polls but mostly it’s still the same screeching minority that elected Reagan.
Most of the Reichwing domination of the last 30 years can be attributed to a complacent public. A fairly small group of dedicated lunatics were able to force their agenda to the ruin of all. I don’t see us becoming complacent, again, any time soon. And the recent showing of the GOP among people who are paying attention doesn’t bode well for them.
September 4th, 2009 at 7:39 pmYou are very right pete in that complacency is dead. Bush may end up having been just the thing America needed to wake up to the encroaching fascism.
September 4th, 2009 at 8:05 pmHe took jabs at U.S. Rep. Zack Space for not holding a town-hall forum on the issue…
Interesting. I recall the town hall I attended with Rep. Space and his proclamation of support for the public option. I also remember his idiotic response to my question on the F-22, which I’m willing to forgive as just cynical triangulation.
September 4th, 2009 at 8:22 pmThat’s the spirit, Levi! We got so used to nothing but bad news that it’s easy to overlook the glimmers of hope all around us.
September 4th, 2009 at 8:38 pmI don’t suppose there’s a chance that airhead and pimp Michael Steele will just find the decency to put a cork in it? Thought so.
Where the hell does he get off criticizing congressional Democrats for generally following the Democratic Party congressional program? Perhaps he should be taken to task for following whatever the R program is – confusion, idiocy, stupidity and flip-flopping.
Ah, strike that last – flip-flopping is Michael’s personal program; the Rs aren’t firmly enough FOR anything to really flip-flop properly and they can’t flip-flop on being against anything the Democrats are for lest they be deserted by whatever is left of their base.
September 5th, 2009 at 12:18 amRE: Steele accuses Democratic congressman of ‘climbing up on Nancy Pelosi’s lap.’
MY COMMENT: I just knew knew that guy was über kinky! ‘Steele’ even sounds like a porn actor’s name. There is no telling what all he’s repressing. Of course, I guess that’s what makes him a “good” Republican!
September 5th, 2009 at 4:35 amIn reference to Steele:
He obviously is the highest paid prostitute in the Republican party.
How else could a man of color be the titular head of the Republican party. A party that hates minorities, denigrates working people and woman and has an unrepentant drug addict as their chief spokesman.
Oh that’s right they made him head but took managerial, operational control AND financial control away from him first…
He is either the stupidest black man on the face of the earth or the Wiliest one for taking the money…naw he’s just a whore.
IN REFERENCE to the old people at the meeting…
I was told by my grandma she thought she was going to a bingo
game and that Steele was the “caller”; She got really ticked after 10 mins. of his bs. and they still didn’t start the game or offer anything to drink…
Thankfully, Once Steele was done Bingo did started.
September 5th, 2009 at 1:54 pmStupid is as stupid does.
Michael Steele is a stupid, stupid man.
September 5th, 2009 at 2:10 pmWow…A town hall meeting attended by dozens at a car dealership. And pretending to speak for all americans.Great stuff!By the way, is it just me or did that old white guy almost jump out of his skin when Steele touched him on the shoulder? I ask..you decide.
