Bush joked about Hillary’s ‘fat keister’ and dismissed the conservative movement while in office.

AP0808080626 Former Bush speechwriter Matt Latimer has a new book coming out that promises to disclose what administration officials were saying behind the scenes. Not surprisingly, there’s a “growing nervousness” about the book amongst many prominent conservatives. GQ has some new excerpts of Latimer’s book, which reveal that President Bush liked to mock other politicians:

On Sarah Palin: “‘I’m trying to remember if I’ve met her before. I’m sure I must have.’ His eyes twinkled, then he asked, ‘What is she, the governor of Guam?‘ … ‘This woman is being put into a position she is not even remotely prepared for,’ he said. ‘She hasn’t spent one day on the national level. Neither has her family. Let’s wait and see how she looks five days out.’”

On Barack Obama: “He came in one day to rehearse a speech, fuming. ‘This is a dangerous world,’ he said for no apparent reason, ‘and this cat [Obama] isn’t remotely qualified to handle it. This guy has no clue, I promise you.’”

On Hillary Clinton: “Wait till her fat keister is sitting at this desk.

On Joe Biden:If bull– was currency, Joe Biden would be a billionaire.”

In 2008, Bush also told Latimer to take out a reference to the “conservative movement” in a speech. “Let me tell you something,” the President said. “I whupped Gary Bauer’s ass in 2000. So take out all this movement stuff. There is no movement.” When Latimer was “perplexed,” Bush explained, “Look, I know this probably sounds arrogant to say,” the president said, “but I redefined the Republican Party.”

Update Raw Story reports another interesting excerpt from the book:

I was once in the Oval Office when the president was told a campaign event in Phoenix he was to attend with McCain suddenly had to be closed to the press...

“If he doesn’t want me to go, fine,” the president said. “I’ve got better things to do.”

Eventually, someone informed the president that the reason the event was closed was that McCain was having trouble getting a crowd. Bush was incredulous—and to the point. “He can’t get 500 people to show up for an event in his hometown?” he asked. No one said anything, and we went on to another topic. But the president couldn’t let the matter drop. “He couldn’t get 500 people? I could get that many people to turn out in Crawford.” He shook his head. “This is a five-spiral crash, boys.”

Well, Bush proved me right yet again. He is nothing but an arrogant, pompous sock puppet who used the Republican ‘Movement’ to usher him in. Also he is a bully. Mocking others is what Bush seemed to excel at. He also had illusions of granduer. To state he ‘redifined’ the Repug Party was quite bold. In a way I guess he did ‘redifine’ the Repug Party, but not in the way he intended.

The key thing that these quotes reveal is GDumbya’s grandiosity — a key quality in the profile of an active alcoholic/addict. With all the dust being kicked up and all the apologists out defending (that is, “re-defining”) the GDumbya/Darth Cheney legacy, the final verdict has yet to be delivered. When it is, we will all be amazed that our country ever even survived eight years of this alcoholic duo’s destruction, incompetence and mayhem.

You can’t deny he redefined the party. After his term in office the Republicans are in tatters. I’m not sure that redefining the Republicans as a permanent minority was what he had in mind, but by his standards I’m sure he is a raging success. After all, it isn’t results that matter, but how much money you can funnel to your cronies while in office.

Well, Dubya got two things right.

Sarah Palin was indeed put in a position she wasn’t remotely prepared for. Of course, this was so obvious that Bush could have demonstrated his powers of clairvoyance just as ably by observing that the sun would rise in the east.

He was also correct that he “defined the Republican Party”. Um…yes he did. And it’s a redefinition they’re going to have a helluva time recovering from.

The rest of his ravings just confirm his general attitude that he’s all that and a bag of chips, and everyone else is inferior to him. Still as delusional as he’s ever been. Thank God he’s out of power.

You are a TRAITOR, sir, steeped in capitalistic aspirations.

There ought to be limits to capitalism and freedom (and Max Baucus should write the bill).

  36. JosephP says:

George W. Bush may think that he redefined the Republican Party. But I think that the truth is that the Republican Party defined George W. Bush.

I believe that the Party saw Bush as an empty vessel that they mold into whatever image would get him elected. After the national fatigue in the aftermath of Bill Clinton’s infidelity, Bush was cast as a upper crust Blue Blood in the image of his father—not an ideologue, but a “Compassionate Conservative” that would reunite the country.

Men like Dick Cheney and Karl Rove knew exactly which buttons to push to control Bush. They would put up with his frat-boy character, tolerate his insulting “Turd Blossom” nicknames, flatter him by calling him the “Decider.” Meanwhile, they would manipulate him into pushing an agenda that would transfer all governmental power to the wealthy and large corporations which they would control.

I think that Bush finally realized towards the end of his term the contempt that Cheney and others felt towards him. To Bush’s small but significant credit, he refused to bow to Cheney’s demand that he issue a rash of pardons to men such as Rumsfeld, Libby, Wolfowitz, and Cheney himself. Bush has also been dignified in his retirement by not remaining silent and not commenting adversely on his successor, as Cheney has so repulsively done. So for these small things we can be grateful to Bush.

  37. tigger says:

Gotta agree with him that there is no conservative movement, just a bunch of crazy people. That’s certainly the “redefinition” of the Republican party, thanks to Bush!

  38. Jackie says:

Let’s look at what we’ve seen for 8 years before we run out to buy this bull. Bush is and always has been a drug addict and alcoholic as we watched his glassy eyes and speech problems. We know he’s as dumb as a door knob because the Press had to make up Bushisms to explain why he wasn’t speaking English. He almost OD on drugs while watching a Football game and someone forgot to tell the lower staff at the hospital to tell the lie. We saw his walk into a door, ask Connie Rice if he could go to the boys room and he was drunk in most of his foreign travel. He sexually harassed the President of Germany and God nows how many other woman were paid off not to talk. Now we are to believe Bush had a brain but chose not to use it for 8 years. They say there’s a sucker born every day but let’s hope Americans know better and don’t buy George’s beans this time. George W. Bush doesn’t have the brains to make a complete sentence let dictate a book. Daddy Bush keeps George W. out of sight because of his problems.

  39. P.D. says:

tigger@37, Yeah, but the were much more subtle. Now they are full blown nuts.

  40. DallasNE says:

This just helps explain why Bush was such a rotten President. The only one he got right was on Sarah Palin and that was probably accidental. A couple of those I have to take with a grain of salt, however. Bush made no attempt to redefine the Republican party, for instance, as it was always about firing up the base. The one on McCain is believable though.

  41. A Patriotic Anopheles Acting says:

When Bush stole office I lived in New Jersey and I saw the best speech given by George W. Bush at a Princeton Graduation. Ok it was live but the Media had to act quickly as he was over the top. Bush spoke of how he was high for 4 years in college and told the grads if their families were rich they didn’t have to gave good grades to become President like he did. But if the grads families were not rich they should work hard to get good grades to get a good paying job. Now everyone was shocked at the speech but George W. though it was great but of course the Professionals were not pleased. Now when the Media gave the news it left out the drug usages and left out the end about rich/poor. Now that was the beginning of his time in Office. Now after watching that nothing surprised me with Bush. He even had the beer bottle on Letterman and we know he told Oprah he didn’t need the 12 step program for alcoholics and we know he overdosed while watching a football game while in office. Now don’t expect that in any book now but it will be much later as the truth always comes out.

all slightly OT, I think, but OTOH, if the Shrub had really been paying attention during his aviator slang classes, he would have rendered it as a “5 turn auger”. The bird he flew, the Convair F-102, was a notorious lawn dart, before the term lawn dart was common for ‘exciting’ airplanes, which are the kind where pilots occasionally lose control of certain bodily functions and leave brown and yellow stains in the cockpit. Bush may have had such an exciting ride or two, which might have influenced his decision to seek other employment at the end of his enlistment. On the other hand, it might have been the TXANG’s invitation to him to learn to fly a different airplane, coupled to a committment to fly that other airplane during a tour of a certain SE Asian nation where we were at war.

Naval aviators like McGrumpy didn’t use the ‘auger’ jargon that much, but he flew an aircraft which could be reasonably unforgiving too. He may have stopped embarassing himself and leaving a mess for his plane captain to clean up after the third or fourth of his series of ‘accidents’.

Where did you get your “tag line”?

    What does it mean?

    #90 kwsventures,

    ALSO,

I will be notifying this company of your attempt to drag their name into the mud. That should be OK with you since you know nothing about this company, right?

  94. dixie blood says:

    #90 kwsventures,

    ALSO,

If they take you to court for defamation you don’t mind. You just made it up and you have a strong defense, right?

  95. cec says:

Kwsventures really ripped into people for making assumptions.”Lot of assumptions on this looney left site”.A few days ago kwsv said that Joe Wilson was 100% right when Wilson called Mr. Obama a liar.Kwsv then admitted that Hr.3200 did indeed say that illegals were not going to be covered but in the real world, they would.Kwsv then launched into many assumptions about why there would be a lack of enforcement.apparently one persons assumptions are another man’s logic.

    Eugene, Eugene,

Your Mother, Father, Grandmother and Grandfather would be ashamed of the language you use through the internet.

Oh, hurry up it’s almost 9:00 PM and your bedtime. Here comes your Mommy to tuck you in. Shut off the screen

  97. eastcoastprogressive says:

Just bring this miserable bastard to justice already. He is guilty of starting an illegal, immoral, wasteful, and genocidal war. Please don’t delay justice any longer. Enough said.

  98. ctcadguy says:

Why is this war criminal still free?

Obama is a one termer if he refuses to prosecute.

We know about the WMD’s lies, the torture, secret a*ssasination teams and making the US Justice department a wing of the Republican party.

It is what we do not know what scares me.

    Re-investigate 911.

  99. bsober says:

Stupid + Arrogant = Dangerous! I have never been a closed minded individual in my life but, any Republican out there seems to nicely fit into this equation! I almost feel personal shame for my feelings however; the shear arrogance of the R’s anymore bring out a repulsion in me I have never felt about any individual or group! George Bush and even worse; his cronies, have brought the Republican party out of the closet and into the light of bigotry and a “Let them eat cake” attitude that is deeply deplorable!

  100. lvdragonlady says:

Hell, he is the one that did not have a clue. How much can you know if you are a draft dodger, a drunk and a rich white kid? Just because your dad was president does not make you any smarter.
