In August, the Mohave Daily News reported that Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) told a town hall that he was “considering filing a lawsuit” over President Obama’s birth certificate. Franks later clarified that he had considered a lawsuit before the 2008 election, but became convinced Obama was a citizen when he “found several different newspapers that had shown that Barack Obama was born in Hawaii two years after it became a state.” In an interview with the Washington Independent’s Dave Weigel at the How To Take Back America conference this weekend, Franks said that he believes Obama is American, “even if he acts un-American”:
FRANKS: That solved the issue for me. I said, you know, I can’t — I believe he’s a natural born citizen of the United States under the Constitution. And therefore, even if he acts un-American and he seems to go against American interests, I’d still believe he’s a natural-born American citizen.
Watch it:
Later in the interview, Franks told Weigel that “Barack Obama could solve this problem and make the birthers, you know, back off, by simply showing us his long-form birth certificate.” “That’d solve the problem,” said Franks. “There’s some other issue, I don’t know what it is, that he doesn’t want people to see the birth certificate on.”
D-NOZZLE
September 28th, 2009 at 3:12 pmAnd what EXACTLY has Obama done that this twit considers un-American?!?!
That seems to be the new meme these days.
In the next election I hope the Democrats use, “Keep the country away from the lunatic fringe! Vote Democratic!” as their slogan.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:15 pm“That’d solve the problem,” said Franks, “until we suddenly decide that the long-form birth certificate isn’t really a birth certificate either, and start demanding that Obama show us his double-super secret birth certificate instead.”
September 28th, 2009 at 3:17 pm“Barack Obama could solve this problem and make the birthers, you know, back off, by simply showing us his long-form birth certificate.”
He’s lying.
Obama could appease these idiots, but the problem will never be solved, even if he bleached his skin.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:18 pmUn-American??? That’s just Frank’s opinion and we all know that opinions are like a$$holes… everyone has one and Trent Frank’s opinion means nothing of importance to anyone else. He is just blowing out hot air. What a waste of good oxygen.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:18 pmAccording to the Republican Secrect Code Word Book,
Un-american = not white
September 28th, 2009 at 3:19 pmI think the problem is in the translation, mary lacewing. Wingnuts consider anything un-wingnutty to be “unAmerican”.
They don’t really use the term with much more discrimination than that.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:20 pmHe’s a black President. How un-American is that? Just look at the previous 43 Presidents.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:21 pmsaid Franks. “There’s some other issue, I don’t know what it is, that
Let me help you out Franks…You’re an idiot.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:21 pmHow exactly is Obama acting “un-American”?
I think he’s acting “un-Republican”.
And there’s the ol’ Lou Dobbsian reaction from Mr. Franks too. “I’m not a birther, but this would go away if Obama showed his real birth certificate.”
Weasel.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:21 pmObama is doing the right thing, by not responding to this lame nuts as its just a lose situation for Him and the country.
Better to ignore them as this will drive them more mad, which is a good thing.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:23 pmIsn’t it considered “un-American” by the GOP to criticize the president (in time of war no less). It seems Frank is the one acting against America’s interest. I believe in previous years GOP went so far as to call any statements against the president undermining the war effort and aiding and abetting terrorists.
Why does Frank hate America?
September 28th, 2009 at 3:24 pmSo, let me get this straight, Franks thinks Obama’s a citizen but has a problem with him not showing the ‘long form’ birth certificate?
Define ‘long form’. I mean, I was born in Hawaii in ‘59, and my birth certificate is identical to the one Obama has.
Can we all say bull-sh*t!

September 28th, 2009 at 3:27 pmStoopid not at all
“acting American” = “being white”
what a sorry bunch of trash all these wingers are.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:30 pmDear Mr. Ignorant Hick Trent Franks (R-AZ
There is no “long form” birth certificate in Hawaii.
So trying to help “ALL Americans” is UnAmerican to you scum bags?
Personally, I wish he would tell Conservative to “GO FCUK YOURSELVES”.
But Obama is a gentleman, me, not so much.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:34 pmAnd therefore, even if he acts un-American and he seems to go against American interests…
Actually, I’ve got a different sort of person in mind when I think of someone who acts un-American and who goes against American interests. And it ain’t Obama.
1. They support economic policies which routinely bring us to the brink of Depression.
2. They start wars for no reason, killing hundreds of thousands of people based on lies.
3. They violate habeus corpus, in direct violation of the Constitution.
4. They authorize warrantless wiretaps, in direct violation of the Constitution.
5. They torture people, in violation of multiple treaties which have the force of law.
6. They support angering every other country on the planet and embroiling us in more conflicts than we can handle.
7. They advocate turning our back on helping the world.
8. They resist every single cooperative program which could make for a healthier and more prosperous America.
9. They resist holding the executive branch subject to the rule of law, in direct violation of the Constitution.
I don’t need a lecture from these people on what’s “un-American.” These people are anti-American. They are a bigger threat to our future security and prosperity than Al-Qaeda.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:34 pmby un-American they mean black.
It’s just more racism.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:37 pmI see one of the disgusting trolls that stink up this place has come in and voted everyone down.
Whoever it is must be having a hard time reconciling the fact that Obama looks more like the original Americans than they do!
September 28th, 2009 at 3:39 pmHow, exactly, does the sitting POTUS act un-American? Almost by definition, it’s not possible.
The right purports to fear totalitarianism (socialism, Nazi, communist, etc.), yet demands blind obedience to ‘their’ ‘right way’ of thinking . . .. It’s become so mindboggling insane I’m convinced there really is no hope in reaching agreement with those that hold views such as Franks. Their ‘reality’ simply doesn’t exist.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:39 pmPS = Pernicious Scum.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:39 pmPolitically Superior said,
Politically Superior thinks Obama’s name isn’t American sounding enough for him to be President. That is called prejudice, or pre-judging someone based on his name.
What kind of political superiority is that?
September 28th, 2009 at 3:39 pmFear is always rooted in ignorance.
Too bad PileofShit hasn’t even sprouted yet.
:(
September 28th, 2009 at 3:39 pmWhat the hell does “acting un-American” mean. If anybody is showing an example of “acting un-American”, it’s the repubs.

I didn’t know 22 years old was a child, dbadass? Last time I checked, i’ve been an adult for 4 years.
You’re a whole TWENTY-TWO years old? Gosh, we sure are lucky that you took time out from your busy schedule of tea-bagging your kegger buddies in “Halo” to tell us how the world works!
September 28th, 2009 at 3:40 pmSeptember 28th, 2009 at 3:41 pm
Lessee…I was born and I got my footprints put on my birth certificate. When I left home, I took it with me. I’ve applied for jobs and showed my birth certificate with my footprints. Those that looked at it didn’t suddenly look at me and say…where’s the LONG FORM? (What…would that include handprints?) I kinda wonder how much time the nurses would have if they had to fill out birth certificates TWICE for each baby born in the US. And if they did that, why would one be more valid than another one? And if they did that, why would they even fill out the short form if the long form was the one that everyone needed for whatever reason birth certificates are used for? Oh…wait…I’m starting to get a sick headache (as Mother Stephens used to say…)
September 28th, 2009 at 3:41 pmAlso I don’t like his name.
This sounds quite intellectual.
For a 14 year old.
There’s NO FCUKING WAY this puke is over 15 years old, seriously.
I know 9 year olds with better reasoning and insight.
Sheesh…

Chyron: I don’t see Politically Inferior as a “Halo” guy — he’s more likely to be World of Warcraft, what with all the half-nekkid troll girls there and all…
September 28th, 2009 at 3:46 pmWho is this Representative Trent Franks? Sounds like a hot dog to me. Maybe a grandstanding hot dog? A really slow grandstanding hot dog? Trying to see if there’s some life left in the old troll birther spasm…. Franks? Or should we call him Weeny? (arsewipe)
Now you know why we always have a wind in NM; Arizona blows and Texas sucks. Just check in with McGrumpy, Kyl, Weeny Franks, Perry, and Cornyn. They’ll demonstrate the truth of the adage.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:47 pm…sorry, I will now go back to my usual practice of ignoring the horse-shit-fly buzzing around in here…
September 28th, 2009 at 3:47 pm32 – every post you leave just proves,
that you really are
pernicious scum.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:47 pmYep, and the problem is your’s franks.
The longer the birther idiocy goes on, the better it is for everyone. The birthers are exposed as lunatics and the gop is exposed as gullible for buying into it.
It’s win/win for Obama…….lose/lose for the gop.
They are just mad because Obama ignores them.
Too bad they don’t realize how irrelivant they are.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:48 pmPolitically Superior says: The first time I saw obama I thought he was a basketball player or radio DJ. He does not LOOK like president material.
Neither did Abraham Lincoln, jackass. But the good thing for this country and the rest of the world is that Obama acts like “president material” (whatever the hell that is…), unlike your butt buddy George Dumbya Fratboy…
September 28th, 2009 at 3:48 pmWe all know that if Obama was to display his “long form” AND the person who issued it was shown on TV testifying in front of the Supreme Court that it was legitimate AND the birthers got to hold it their own greasy fingers and squint at it pretending they can actually read that they would STILL doubt its authenticity.
There’s no reasoning with irrational, fatally stupid people.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:49 pmIf by “unAmerican” they mean he does not act like a re=Thug – then that is fine by me.
It is also fine by the vast majority of Americans that voted Obama into office.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:50 pm*
Politically Inferior says:

Racist much?
Or don’t you understand what you just posted?
Oh yeah, that’s right, you are a bigot, forgot, keep posting your ignorance is amusing.

September 28th, 2009 at 3:51 pmoooohhhhhhhhh, that’s right. it’s not an act.
President material. Comedy GOLD! If I was looking for PresidentIAL material, I would certainly look as far away as possible from where you grew up.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:51 pmWhat a miserable future you have. Obama will likely go down in history as the man who breathed life into a dying country, ie America.
How will you live with the reality?

Piled Shit says:
September 28th, 2009 at 3:58 pmToo bad for you HUAC no longer exists.
Obama is President because he won the election by getting the most votes, not by appointment. More Americans voted for him than anyone else. He’s not being progressive enough even though he has a clear mandate from the election.
So does this idiot, sorry, former idiot think democratic elections are un-American? Maybe he needs to be reminded how Americans voted his party into the minority and that the American majority rules.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:58 pmPolitically Inferior:
Flagged for racist comments.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:58 pmsheez, you’d think Rep. Trent Franks was trying to get crazy shelley bachmann to let him bang her with all this crazy talk.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:59 pmPS, your 22 years old, why haven’t you went down and joined the military yet? Why aren’t you over there fighting all those terrorists for your country? Isn’t that what good red blooded young Americans who support bushes wars be doing? Remember its for “God and Country”. Your right wing leaders would be proud of you, so get down there and sign up.
September 28th, 2009 at 3:59 pmPolitically Superior? Fake troll.

President Obama is a true American by birth, by word, and by deed. I can’t believe George Bush was ever an American – i think he was/is a Global Capitalist. America is just a great place for the Bushes to pitch their tent.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:09 pm22 year old Politically Stupid got to vote for the first time this last election. I’d bet the farm the little shit didn’t get off the couch to go down and vote at all. Do I have any takers?
September 28th, 2009 at 4:09 pmGotta wonder, being as Rep(rehensible) Franks is a Baptist, if there isn’t a pit of snakes somewhere needing a moron to jump in and pray/handle them.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:11 pmCome on guys, admit it. The good trolls have already left, and some of you guys are filling in with parody trolls.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:13 pmWhere did you plagerize this from and how does it apply?
See, just postin stuff and taking credit for other peoples thoughts and then misusing their intent is really illegal and immoral.
So you are just fine with that and we understand.
Why do you think we should listen to you? Seriously, what makes you think you have a right to give your input?
September 28th, 2009 at 4:13 pmaaronk says:
There are characteristics of our country which are uniquely American, such as capitalism, representative democracy, and freedom.
Uniquely? So, there’s like NO OTHER COUNTRY in the world that has Capitalism, Representative democracy OR Freedom?
September 28th, 2009 at 4:15 pmThere are many jobs in this country that require employees to submit to urinalysis because they don’t want someone high driving their forklifts of Cheerios around the factory.
I think it is it is time to pass a law requiring pee tests for all members of Congress. Excess recreational drugs is about the only explanation for their behavior and the sooner they get to rehab, the better off we will be as a country.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:15 pmNicely handled, Fred.
erronk doesn’t deserve to be taken seriously here. I mean, jeez, here he is claiming that democratically elected president of the US “does not display” characteristics like “representative democracy”.
erronk doesn’t realize that just because an elected official doesn’t represent erronk’s views doesn’t mean that the official is not displaying “representative democracy”.
As Jon Stewart said so eloquently, the wingnut “are confusing tyranny with losing“.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:18 pmThere are characteristics of our country which are uniquely American, such as capitalism, representative democracy, and freedom.
Lessee…CRONY capitalism…representative democracy for the CORPORATIONS and freedom from HAVING A JOB. Yup…that pretty much sums up what it is to be American these days.
You know, using buzzwords would work better if you didn’t misrepresent what they actually mean.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:23 pmAnd he is absolutely right Ralph.
I keep asking and will continue to ask the trolls and republicans I meet daily to just give me one example of a sucess for the republican party. All I ever get is silence.
Why should we listen to them?
September 28th, 2009 at 4:25 pmSo, now it’s ok to say that the Commander-in-Chief, during a time of war, acts un-American?
September 28th, 2009 at 4:27 pmSo, um, PoS, what does “president material” look like…?
That heavyweight McKinley?
Nixon with his sweaty brow and ski nose?
Lincoln, with his warts and beard?
Crippled Franklin Roosevelt?
George Washington with his wooden teeth?
Oh – you mean WHITE, right? Ah. I thought so.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:28 pmI’m sorta wondering why whoeveritwas thinks Obama isn’t representing those uniquely American characteristics. He hasn’t done anything to dismantle the system in any way. He’s pretty much gone against the interests of those who’s got him elected. I mean come on! He’s put the capitalist fox in charge of the capitalist henhouse (Geithner), gotten dissed by a representative of this democracy (Joe Wilson), and has let people like whoeveritwas continue to be free to say really stupid crap. America at its finest!!!
September 28th, 2009 at 4:29 pmI haven’t seen any wingers born in 1961 produce a “long form” certified by the State of Hawaii, either. Don’t you think hannity could find just one “great American” to produce one? I’ve seen a couple of laughable fakes claiming to be from Kenya, but they won’t risk forging a fake from Hawaii, eh? The “long form” is the new WMD. Non-existent.

Republicans have a different view of what is and what is not American.
Republicans have a different view of what is and what is not civil.

Republicans have a different view of what is and what is not criminal.
Republicans have a different view of what is and what is not torture.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:32 pmMy God…there are Republicans in Hawaii? Say it ain’t so!! Well…I guess I’ll have to cancel that trip to Waikiki…unless someone born there shows me his LONG FORM birth certificate.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:33 pmNope. Nothing “American” about being the effing President!
September 28th, 2009 at 4:34 pmIt’s a well known fact that it’s truly the republicans who act un-American all the time, but what they do to keep the pressure off themselves is to call everyone else un-American. See? It makes them feel better when doing so!
September 28th, 2009 at 4:35 pmIt’s Obama’s apology tours, isn’t it? It’s because he hasn’t said America is the bestest mostest wonderfullest place on the entire happy planet, isn’t it? It’s because he talks in complete sentences, isn’t it? Well, yes, I guess you could say that is quite ‘un-American.’
September 28th, 2009 at 4:36 pmSTORM says:
He said IF he acts Un-American.
Read it again fool.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:37 pmI find it humorous that a wingnut would think they can identify someone who acts un-American when all the wingnuts I see are the people acting un-American.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:38 pmWhen you can’t argue the facts you just lie. We know.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:38 pmOr maybe it’s the way he walks. Or maybe it’s that damn organic garden. Why didn’t he get an American dog…what the hell is a Portuguese Water Dog anyway?
September 28th, 2009 at 4:38 pmAnd the GOP says repeatedly that their opposition to President Obama is based only on policy differences?
Hey, Franks, I have a pile of feces to sell. I can convince you it’s chocolate ice cream, if you like.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:38 pmKayInMaine,
The poor stupid trolls are so ignorant that they have no idea what “American ideals” are. They say things like “uniquely American” when there’s nothing “uniquely American” and we used to take pride in that. Heck! Some of them are convinced that the Founding Fathers intended to establish a Christian theocracy.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:39 pm‘If’ he acts un-American? Then that means he has the potential to act un-American, and if there is the potential for that, then he’s un-American. Ruh-roh…there’s that sick headache again…
September 28th, 2009 at 4:40 pmIt’s exactly like their racism which they refuse to identify in thier behaviour too.

I think that they cook up their material while staring in a mirror. “Projection” gets overused but it’s appropriate.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:44 pmWhy do we need birth certificates anyway? Anyone living was obviously born. Spin it like ‘we don’t need no stinkin’ badges,’ and we’ll all be happy, right? Right?
For Franks to say, yeah I think he was born in Hawaii, just give the loonies the long form and be done with it so they don’t hassle you anymore is so noble of him – just trying to get the monkeys off his back, doncha know. Ooops!
September 28th, 2009 at 4:45 pmWhen I think of un-American I think of stealing elections, torture, invading countries that never attacked us, exploiting national tragedy for political gain, hiding in the White House drinking while the economy collapses, politicizing the Justice Department, using the Constitution as unitary executive bathroom toilet paper.
But maybe I’m just un-American.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:46 pmmajii says:

See:
CANADA, JAPAN, GREAT BRITAIN, to name a few.
What an IDIOT you are.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:47 pmThe reporter should have forced Franks to explain his “unAmerican” comments. That would have exposed him as the fool he is. The media needs to start nailing these fools with their words and make them explain in specific detail.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:47 pmHey Franks you “hair liped” freak STFU already!!!
September 28th, 2009 at 4:48 pmPeePee, Stormee, arwrong, do something useful, like walk in front of an oncoming Mack truck.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:49 pmNothing’s more un-American than dis-respecting the sitting POTUS during “a time of war”, right wingnuts?!!
September 28th, 2009 at 4:49 pmDNFP, those places aren’t American. Only America can be America! Uniquely American traits of capitalism run amok, democracy hijacked by money and freedom from speaking your mind are what this country is all about! (You better be glad you weren’t at the G-20, or you woulda gotten your ears blasted with the latest in American technology!!! – go lethal soundwaves!)
September 28th, 2009 at 4:50 pmPeePee, Stormee, arwrong, do something useful, like walk in front of an oncoming Mack truck.
So you’re a Peterbuilt guy, or Kenworth?
September 28th, 2009 at 4:50 pmpete, you have to understand their role models. After all, the President’s predecessor in the office thought it was “uniquely American” that a single mother work three jobs.
September 28th, 2009 at 4:50 pmWell, according to George Bush “gawd blessed America” and it was uniquely American to work 3 jobs, not qualify for medical insurance working those 3 jobs, and losing your job if the CEO or Wall Street investors found that the profit margin wasn’t looking good for that year. George and his conservatives don’t see how un-American their ideals are, but come the 2010 election when the republics continue to get their arses kicked, they might say, “You know, it’s uniquely American to have a job and to be nice to same sex couples”!
*fingers crossed* LOL Seriously, if a conservative actually had the ability to step outside their box and look in on themselves, they would have a heart attack at what they see and find!
September 28th, 2009 at 4:52 pmSadly (or not), when I visited those “exotic, foreign lands”, they felt more American than here. With respect to equality, life, and liberty, things were damn good abroad!

September 28th, 2009 at 4:59 pmerronk, Fred doesn’t have to try too hard to discredit you.
Your posting history has done most of the heavy lifting for him. Your reputation is well established.
September 28th, 2009 at 5:01 pmFor Franks to state the President “acts un-American and he seems to go against American interests” is dangerous, not only for our democracy, but also directly to the life of the President, imo. The level of vitriol, hatred and palpable tension remind me of how Kennedy was attacked by his opponents.
September 28th, 2009 at 5:03 pmNo, my little storm-drain sewer dweller, for it is people like ME, with a diverse sense of the World through personal experiences that makes a place like America unique.
Mongrels like you have more in common with the Taliban, with a lack of sense of PLACE in the World due to limited, myopic view and “fear spawned from ignorance” ways of thinking.
So predictable, it’s almost cute, if not so pathetic.
September 28th, 2009 at 5:08 pmIt’s interesting that those who call President Obama “un-American” are the most un-American people in this country.
They have no idea what it means to be an American, and act in ways that kick the feet out from under this country.
But don’t worry, we’ll clean up the wingnut mess AGAIN, and make this country great again.

There are characteristics of our country which are uniquely American, such as capitalism, representative democracy, and freedom.
None of those are uniquely American, and in fact they are all European concepts.
The concepts of representative democracy and freedom predated our country and were already implemented in countries such as Switzerland centuries before our birth.
The concept of Capitalism developed in Europe in the 19th century, well after this country was founded.
aaronk says:
These are characteristics that many feel are not on display from President Obama, hence the sentiment that he act “un-American”.
What you feel doesn’t matter, only the facts matter. What you feel comes from your ignorance, not from facts and it’s spurred on by wingnuts like yourself that spread lies, ignorance, racism and hatred. What you feel is right wing nationalism and racism, which is what spurred on the Third Reich. The fact is Obama displays far more American values than you ever have on this site.
However George Bush with his subversion of the constitution is the very archetype of the “un-american” leader. That explains why you wingnuts idolized him! You’re natural born traitors and unpatriotic thugs.
September 28th, 2009 at 5:22 pmGeorge Bush gave himself over 900 signing statements to ignore the laws of our country. He also had his attorneys redefine and rewrite the laws so he could break them. Also, he started illegally spying on Americans in February 2001 well before 9/11, but lied to Americans and the Congress about what he was doing so they would accept the Patriot Act, his version of FISA, and the Military Commissions Act. He tortured people in secret CIA prisons scattered around the planet with a twinkle in his eye and not one ounce of remorse.
Anyone who supported him and what his Thugs did is UN-AMERICAN. Capice?

Damnitol, dixie, how many times do I have to tell you that the politically corrct term is “South Ron Talibabtist”. It useta just be “South Ron Babtist”, but in honor of their doctrinal resemblence to the Taliban, it’s now Talibabtist.
Suth Run Babtis never made much sense to me, though I was one and heard it called that for years. It was only when the Sainted Ronnie Ray Gun was so heartily approved by them Babtists that I realized that they’d just been pouring molasses and grits on South Ron…

This is a private place, you have no rights here. Only the privileges granted by those that own it. It’s no different than you coming into someone’s house, trashing it, and saying you have the right to do so.
Then we have the hypocrisy. To to redstate or one of the wingnut blogs and see if you find any dissenting posts. September 28th, 2009 at 9:37 pmMost of what we do is not “mandated” in the Constitution. That’s the concept of limited government and individual freedoms that you seem to be missing. As for Bush, you were making accusations against Obama that don’t apply to him, but applied to Bush. His mention was thoroughly relevant to your hypocrisy and that of the right wing in general.
Actually you are completely deranged, racist and paranoid as your treatment and behavior against our democratically elected president who is implementing popular public policies shows. You are nothing more than a theo-fascist freak that would better fit in the Taliban than the United States.

Nope, none of those concepts speak to modern capitalism which didn’t exist at the time of the Constitution.
Your ignorance is showing again.
And economic systems have nothing to do with government systems as Communist/Totalitarian China is currently showing.
September 28th, 2009 at 9:44 pmfirst, why don’t you go back and reach the post you linked to. There is no plagiarism there at all.

Actually limited government is more of a right wing libertarian concept – that didn’t exist until the 19th century.
September 28th, 2009 at 9:47 pmThe freedoms granted in our constitution gave birth to capitalism. Traders practiced this from the beginning, and that’s a fact. You are ignorant if you don’t see that.

I’m guessing your parents didn’t take the time to teach you not to lie and to be responsible for your own actions? You’re a classic conservative. No morals. No values. If course you aren’t sure – because you’re ignorant.
Economic systems and government systems are entirely different. China is a totalitarian system with a more open form of Capitalism than we have. The fact you don’t understand this shows how stupid you are! ;)
September 28th, 2009 at 9:51 pmLet me help you out aaronk. When you say:
Here are a few ideas that I have accumulated from different blogs and magazine artcles…
That implies you took ideas and put them in your own words.
When you copy other material, that isn’t taking ideas, that’s stealing content.
I’m betting you didn’t do well in school? Because every reasonably educated students learns both what plagiarism is, and how to avoid doing it. Or they fail their classes.
Were you home schooled, or just stupid?
September 28th, 2009 at 9:53 pmI heard Trent likes little boys to play in his lap.
I assume Trent does not like little boys to play in his lap, although I haven’t seen any proof that he doesn’t.
September 28th, 2009 at 9:54 pmSee this is out you cite a reference so others know you haven’t plagiarized.
The mid-18th century gave rise to industrial capitalism, made possible by the accumulation of vast amounts of capital under the merchant phase of capitalism and its investment in machinery. Industrial capitalism, which Marx dated from the last third of the 18th century, marked the development of the factory system of manufacturing, characterized by a complex division of labor between and within work process and the routinization of work tasks; and finally established the global domination of the capitalist mode of production.
The capitalism that the US uses, is a 19th century invention.
September 28th, 2009 at 9:55 pmThomas Jefferson and James Madison spoke about it frequently…it doesn’t get much more “framer” than that.
September 28th, 2009 at 9:56 pm3.7 GPA at Indiana University, Kelley School of Business. I have a huge document of concepts on healthcare that I have pasted from the web, but I didn’t paste the sources.
September 28th, 2009 at 9:58 pmThen we have this jewel.
Late 19th and early 20th century capitalism has also been described as an era of “monopoly capitalism,” marked by government’s movement from laissez-faire capitalism and competitive markets to the concentration of capital into large monopolistic or oligopolistic holdings by banks and financiers, and characterized by the growth of large corporations and a division of labor separating shareholders, owners, and managers.
That free market you were talking about created monopolies that preyed on the entire country. No different than the roaming gangs of Somalia.
Without government regulation, capitalist power concentrates goes unchecked. It becomes a shadow government where the citizens have no say and no power. That’s the libertarian dream, 19th century monopolies!
September 28th, 2009 at 9:59 pmand that’s a fact. You are ignorant if you don’t see that.
September 28th, 2009 at 9:59 pm–
I love when people say stupid shit…
I’m still waiting for you to show me how my comment was racist?
September 28th, 2009 at 9:59 pmaaronk says:
Thomas Jefferson and James Madison spoke about it frequently…it doesn’t get much more “framer” than that.
No, they spoke of the role of the federal government versus the state and how the private lives shouldn’t be trodded on by the government. You know, like with illegal wiretapping, or socialized legislation against blacks or gays just because you’re a religious superstitious freak with a chip on his shoulders.
They also spoke of the role and the need of the federal government to regulate commerce between the states and abroad. Ooops!
September 28th, 2009 at 10:01 pmIgnorance is bliss isn’t it. China’s system is in no way a “more open form of capitalism”. Almost all of the means of their production are controlled by the government. That is called communism. This is why they have people working their ass off day and night to live in poverty. A system that you advocate none the less.

aaronk says:
I have a huge document of concepts on healthcare that I have pasted from the web, but I didn’t paste the sources.
Any idiot knows to source information they accumulate. I’m guessing you’ve never had to do many research papers?
I’m sorry, but I can’t believe you ever graduated high school. You’re not articulate. Your ability to reason, discuss and evaluate information is no better than a tween. Sorry, but you don’t have a degree in anything!

Ignorance is bliss isn’t it. China’s system is in no way a “more open form of capitalism”. Almost all of the means of their production are controlled by the government.
Either you’re an idiot or a liar. The government owned businesses are a minority of production capacity. The country has fewer regulations and safeguards than just about anyone – as the level of pollution and worker exploitation shows.
aaronk says:
That is called communism.
No, communism doesn’t have stock markets, private companies and foreign investment. You wasted your money if you have a degree in economics!
aaronk says:
This is why they have people working their ass off day and night to live in poverty. A system that you advocate none the less.
Really? Sounds like walmart.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:06 pmso, you think by forcing me to pay about half of my earned income in taxes, I am not being “trodded on” by the government? When they spoke of limiting the powers of the federal government, it wasn’t just for liberal social causes.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:07 pmYes, but we aren’t forced to work at Walmart.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:07 pmYou are doing a good job of avoiding your error here. there is nothing wrong with admitting you were wrong. Here is the quote again:
“look, get this straight. Beck said Obama is a racist because he believes that Obama has a chip on his shoulder for white people.”
There isn’t a shred of racism in my comment. I merely pointed out what Beck said about Obama. If I point out something that Hitler said, does that make me a Nazi? Hell, for that matter, if I quote Michael Jordan, does that make me a basketball player?
September 28th, 2009 at 10:11 pmaaronk says:
so, you think by forcing me to pay about half of my earned income in taxes, I am not being “trodded on” by the government?
Nope, if you don’t like paying taxes, then go to Somalia a libertarian paradise. Taxes have been a founding part of the nation’s finances from the beginning. Taxes are consistent with every form of government and are considered a social contract and responsibility that citizens have with their government. I’m not surprise that personal responsibility makes you feel put out though.
aaronk says:
When they spoke of limiting the powers of the federal government, it wasn’t just for liberal social causes.
Yawn… Ignoring the hypocrisy of your own views aren’t you child?
The federal government has the right to promote the welfare of the nation. So, you’re right, it’s not about limiting the government for social causes. It’s about finding ones that promote the welfare of the country.
Like taking care of the sick, the old, the incapable. An immoral selfish person like yourself doesn’t understand those community values of this country. It’s why you don’t belong here.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:12 pmaaronk says:
Yes, but we aren’t forced to work at Walmart.
Tell that to the people that can’t find any other jobs because walmart has used the power of the government through corporatism to run everyone else out of business. Walmart isn’t run by the government, but walmart sure does run a lot of them!
September 28th, 2009 at 10:13 pmHey, I’ll agree with that! Wow

You lose.
Then there are so many more to choose from.
aaronk says:
really tomb? He recently accused “white people” of steering poison into the communities of “color”. That is a very devisive comment for a white house official.
Actually many african american communities are the most polluted in the country. There’s nothing dishonest or racist about calling out that racism. But you white supremacist see every fact that points to your racism as reverse racism. It just proves your own racism.
aaronk says:
There isn’t a shred of racism in my comment. I merely pointed out what Beck said about Obama. If I point out something that Hitler said, does that make me a Nazi? Hell, for that matter, if I quote Michael Jordan, does that make me a basketball player?
If you repeat the racist words of someone and don’t condemn them, in the real world that’s a form of implied support for their meaning. Then again, you aren’t civilized.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:17 pmaaronk says:
Hey, I’ll agree with that! Wow
And that’s capitalism, not the world envisioned by our founding fathers or experienced by the limited mercantilism of their day.
Corporate structures of modern capitalism permit a level of power accumulation impossible in that era that threatens democracy.
And you right wing fools are the enabler of that destruction.
It is all your fault.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:18 pm“personal responsibility”??? Are you kidding me. I don’t ask for anything from the government or anyone. I am more than willing & able to take care of myself and my family, but through taxation, I am forced to take care of those who don’t have a sense of personal responsibility.
Taxation isn’t a “founding part” of this government in the sense that it is today. You know that!

Went only private school (as opposed to a land grant school like IU).
Never fly or ride on a boat.
Rufuse public water.
Refuse public sewer.
Refuse public power.
Refuse to use the government designed internet.
Refuse police protection.
Refuse national border protection.
Refuse drug and food safety protection,
Refuse fire department protection.
Refuse at least some legal/job protection.
etc.,
Yeah, you’ve never “asked” for anything, but you’ve received more than you’ll ever be able to understand.
aaronk says:
I am more than willing & able to take care of myself and my family, but through taxation, I am forced to take care of those who don’t have a sense of personal responsibility.
Then you should move to somalia, since you don’t need our government, services or civilization. You can be 100% responsible for yourself, unlike now.
aaronk says:
Taxation isn’t a “founding part” of this government in the sense that it is today. You know that!
Sure it was. Taxes were used to protect and promote the welfare of the people. That’s exactly what they do now.
September 28th, 2009 at 10:57 pmaaronk says:
Walmart being in bed with the government is not a form of “capitalism” that i would endorse…it’s the exact opposite.
You’re wrong. Capitalism by nature grabs power.
This is why the founding fathers prohibited charters (corporations) from lobbying, owning property not related to their specific charter, own stock in other charters and could easily be disbanded by the government at the first illegal act. Heck, their owners were held legally and criminally liable for any harm caused by the corporation.
That’s what our founding fathers explicitly set up to restrict corporations.
Without those restrictions, your libertarian paradise quickly becomes a 3rd world banana republic – kind of like how Bush ran it.
September 28th, 2009 at 11:00 pmAny time you’d like to admit you were wrong on everything – feel free…

There are literally thousands of benefits you enjoy every day that are there because everybody chips in to make them there. Once again, if you would prove otherwise, move to Somalia, give away everything you own and start over. If you pull yourself up to the same economic level you’re at here, then I’ll consider the possibility that whatever prosperity you enjoy is solely due to your own benefits, and has nothing to do with the maintenance of the ecological, economic, political, and security environment that you and I enjoy.
100 times out of 100, a “I pull myself up by my own bootstraps” libertarian is merely someone who’s blindly ignorant of how much they rely on the world around them.

What about El Salvador, Guatemala Haiti? They may not be very free but they are VERY capitalist. Your ignorance is an embarassment. It makes Americans look STUPID as well as arrogant.
These are characteristics that many feel are not on display from President Obama, hence the sentiment that he act “un-American”.

You are stupid aaron. You are stupid and you constantly make a fool out of yourself. Capitalism was being practices long before our constitution. It was being practiced when Columbus CAME to America. Since you pretty much never know what you are talking about why dont you try to reign in your stupidity enough that you dont constantly show how stupid you are. If I were a conservative I would be begging you to STFU and stop making cons look like morons
September 29th, 2009 at 10:53 amGeez, what a coinkidink(?) that most of the people who say that Obama is “Un-American” also blindly support everything that Bush did, which was more Un-Constitutional and therefore more “Un-American” that what Obama is doing now. I dunno, but since when does wanting to help people and improve the economy look like an act of “Terrorism” but advocating for sedition and spreading lies count as “free speech”? Somebody please enlighten me!

It’s quite simple. The modern American right wing has morphed into a conspiracy that is trying to destroy America. They want us all broke, unemployed, homeless, imprisoned, killed in too many wars and anything else they can do to tear this country apart. They want to destroy the Constitution by violating its most cherished principles in any way they can. They hate America and everything that it stands for. They will stop at nothing to harm us in every way possible.
Seriously, that’s the only thing I can come up with that makes their behavior make any kind of sense at all.

Seems the anger and name calling aside from being rather childish, it make one wonder the left leaning dem’s are so angry that they resort to childish behavior. Could it be that in their heart of hearts they know they are wrong???
A list of Barack Hussein Obama’s accomplishments: If George Bush Was An Idiot……
If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?
If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan’s holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you not have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?
If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent “Austrian language,” would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?
If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to “Cinco de Cuatro” in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?
If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word “advice” would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as proof of what a dunce he is?
If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he’s a hypocrite?
If George W. Bush’s administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?
If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?
If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?
If George W Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?
So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can’t think of anything? Don’t worry….he’s done all this in 5 months — so you’ll have three years and seven months to come up with an answer. SCARY! Wonder what else he’ll do in that time???
