Group marches for ‘white civil rights’ after Limbaugh hyped bus beating as a hate crime against whites.

Hate radio host Rush Limbaugh recently cast a fight between three Belleville, IL schoolchildren — the two attackers were black and the victim was white — as what happens to “white kids” in “Obama’s America.” Even though police said the bus fight was not racially motivated, Limbaugh insisted, “We need segregated buses.” On Saturday, members of white supremacist groups marched in Belleville holding signs echoing Limbaugh’s rhetoric that said, “It was a hate crime“:

While a police sniper watched from the roof of the police station, 22 members of white supremacist groups, shouted obscenities and made obscene hand gestures. One man, who had a crew cut and wore a black uniform, told the crowd of onlookers, “Wake up white America!”

“We were out there to denounce the violence,” said Belleville resident Jason Bonn, who is a corporal with the National Socialist Movement, a group with a name similar to the Nazi Party of Germany during World War II. Bonn’s group is “fighting for white civil rights.”

Several spectators “booed the white supremacist rally and shouted ‘Go home.’”

The Limbaughs and Becks of the nation will not be satisfied until they see riots, chaos and mayhem in the streets. They will blame it all on Democrats and Obama as they sit in their comfortable studios fomenting even more violence.

  12. misscoleopteramolly says:

Do we have any statistical data showing that black kids beating up white kids on school buses has increased significantly since Barack Obama was elected President? Empirical data? Anecdotal evidence of any kind?

No. As far as I can see, this was an isolated case of a fight that broke out in a school bus over a seat. It’s not the first time such a conflict has happened, nor will it be the last. But that’s all it was.

Not that this will matter to those who will grasp at any fuel to operate their propaganda catapults.

The good news in all this is that these dolts were only able to muster 22 suckers to march. Proportionally, this is probably very representative of the insignificant size of Limpball’s audience; however, it is very representative of the lack of intelligence and the bias of his listeners.

  20. Marie says:

School kids have always established “territory” on school the bus– heirarchy on the playground — “cliques” of who’s in and who’s not. The hundreds of years, it was a minority kid, or a nerd who was ostracized. This time, the white kid was in the “wrong” seat, according to the kids’ rules, albeit ridiculous and hurtful.
You’d think that kids never had a fight on a school bus before Obama became president.

    From Wikipedia -
“Since 1991, Limbaugh has had the most-listened-to radio show in the United States, with over 14 million listeners a week as of December 2008. In 2003, he peaked with an audience of nearly 20 million a week. However, public polls have shown that a majority of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of Limbaugh. For example, in a March 2007 Rasmussen Reports poll, 62% of those surveyed had an unfavorable opinion of Limbaugh, while only 33% had a favorable opinion, a nearly 2 to 1 ratio that was, by far, the worst among the 18 journalists and media personalities included in the poll.”

If 14,000,000 people a week listen to limpballs out of a national population of 300,000,000 then thats 4.6 percent of the population listens to him. However small and “insignificant” that may seem, it takes only one of those 14,000,000 nut cases to pull a trigger and we have a “significant” problem on our hands. And what percentage of the nutcases who listen to Rush own/carry guns? My guess, living in the south, is that its quite “significant.”

You young whippersnappers think of the 60s as a time of hippies, free love and lots of good drugs — all true, all true. But the early 60s in particular featured a highly visible Klan and George Lincoln Rockwell’s American Nazi Party. No hoods to disguise them, and Rockwell wasn’t afraid to show up in his storm trooper uniform for rallies. Do not be surprised to see a more visible resurgence of White Power advocates–I believe a lot of them were ecstatic about Obama’s election because it gives them a great tool for recruitment: finally, the coloreds have sullied the White House. Wake up, White People!

In previous eras, the racists didn’t have national media feeding their frenzy.

My point, however, was that we should not fool ourselves into believing that Limpballs’ ideology is a dominant force in society. As for the size of his audience — it’s important to remember that this “head-count” includes anyone who may have listened to ten minutes of his daily rant-fest on any particular day. It also includes folks like me who will tune in just for sheer amusement value because he is such a bombastic, pathetic a**hole.

How about that median household income for whites declined by 2.7% between 2007 and 2008, or that 8.6% of white households are below the poverty line? 57. 5th Estate says:

    Mike Hunt, Tom Baker;

Rush’s “20 million” “listeners” are a fabrication, based on on the crude statistic of the number of people who COULD be listening-in to the hundreds of stations that air is show.

There is no listener monitoring system in place for radio as there is for television with Nielsen.

Radio is very ‘portable’ and accessible throughout the day compared to television, and it’s not uncommon for small businesses (2-10 employees, I mean)to keep a radio on all day which COULD be tuned to right wing radio—or “easy listening”, or NPR.

So how many listeners might Limbaugh actually have?
Well maybe we could use O’Reilly as a yardstick.
O’Reilly manages 2 million plus for his TV show based on Nielsen.
Given the portability of radio that number could be doubled for Limbaugh, maybe tripled–though we can expect there would be overlap between daytime Rush fans and prime-time O’Reilly TV fans.

Ergo, for want of any actual data but just applying some logic, Rush;s actual audience might be in the 5-7 million range and perhaps as much as 10 million.

But it’s not the common audience numbers that are significant on their own,it’s the support and affirmation he gets from influential people that matters more—not just opinion makers but legislators and policy makers.
One hundred thousand votes don’t mean as much to a politician as $10,000 in campaign funds from a businessman.
Even if the vote is for say, segregation, the businessman’s for it, the politicians for it and the voters are for it, the contribution is going to get the job actually done more than 100,000 voters agreeing with the proposition.

We’ve seen this in the health care hoo-hah–most voters are for the public option but vested business interests are against it and politicians whose own constituents are FOR it, are still opposed to it.

Limbaugh’s listener figures are grossly inflated, but in the media and in politics, everyone makes their own reality, and working together they define reality for the rest of us, out of all proportion to their actual numbers.

Coulter suspects liberals behind Obama-as-Hitler posters
By David Edwards and Daniel Tencer
    Sunday, September 27th, 2009

    http://rawstory.com/2009/09/coulter-liberals-hiltler-posters/

For conservative political commentator Ann Coulter, it seems right-wingers can do no wrong — and, if they are seen to be doing wrong, it’s the fault of the left anyway.

Coulter says she suspects that posters of President Barack Obama with a Hitler mustache that appeared at Tea Party rallies are the work of “liberal agitators.”

By David Edwards and Daniel Tencer

    http://rawstory.com/2009/09/clinton-right-wing-conspiracy/

The “vast right-wing conspiracy” that targeted President Bill Clinton during his time in the Oval Office is now targeting President Barack Obama, but is less effective than it was in earlier times because the US’s demographics have shifted, Clinton told NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday.

Asked by host David Gregory if he believed the conspiracy had now shifted to Obama, Clinton said: “You bet. Sure it is. It’s not as strong as it was because America has changed demographically but it’s a virulent as it was.”

Clinton stated that the Republican strategy against the president would yield nothing positive either for the Republicans, or for the United States.

Maybe because this country has a long history of racially motivated violence of white people attacking blacks?

This country has a long and sordid history of whites both publicly and privately prodding on racist ideology. The teabagging parties, literature, signage and attitudes is classic white power racism.

This entire response from Limbaugh and even yourself is no different than the scare tactics following the Civil War where whites were told that black violence, black racism, and black immorality was a threat to them. You’re a part of the problem backup, not the innocent bystander you pretend to be.
