Conservatives are currently gathered in Virginia for the American for Prosperity’s Defending the American Dream Summit, which features speakers such as radio host Hugh Hewitt and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. Today when the IOC announced that the United States was eliminated from the running to host the 2016 Olympics, a room of conference attendees immediately laughed and applauded. Watch it:
The Weekly Standard “world headquarters” also erupted in cheers today at the announcement, although blogger John McCormack later changed his blog post and deleted the reference.

Go with that ignorant thought there David Duke. Forget about the jobs and business that would have been generated with Chicago being selected. You repugs have no end for your ignorance.
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:44 pmConservative conference attendees erupt in cheers when the U.S. is eliminated as Olympics site.
– - See any minorities or people of color in that video? Me neither.
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:45 pm@1, Enlighten us how you think this is a good thing? As a Country, we have lost billions od dollars and millions of jobs. Payback you say? A payback for what? Get lost!

Bad@3, LOL! Talk about white bread!
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:46 pmHow do reasonable conservatives explain away shit like this?
How does a patriotic American cheer when a middle American city loses out on a bid to host the Olympics?
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:47 pmMr.Duke says:
I guess you are an ignorant punkass troll and a worthless pile of dogshit. Just STFU you are too stupid to contribute to an adult conversation
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:47 pmMr. Llama, you used the word “reasonable” conservative, they are extinct.
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:48 pmMr. Duke, you’re not exactly a “reasonable conservative” but perhaps you’ll do:
how does a patriotic American cheer when a middle American city loses out on its bid to host the Olympic Games?
How is that something to cheer about, as an American?
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:48 pmMr.Duke says: 6
I guess you think you are clever. You arent. You are stupid. STFU till you grow a brain
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:48 pmralph@8, They can’t. By this time tomorrow, This will all back-fire. To actually cheeer while our Country loses jobs and billions is not only stupid. It’s treasonist.
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:49 pmConservatives are idiots on so many levels. The devil’s going to have to create another seven levels for you morons.
Why on earth would you cheer the U.S. not geting the Olympics?
I actually thought they’d go to Rio and they did. What’s the big deal.
And just so you uninformed dimwits might know – the selection of the city is one of the Most Corrupt Aspects in All of Sports.
So I guess we weren’t corrupt enough to land them.

October 2nd, 2009 at 7:53 pmHow is that something to cheer about, as an American?- – - – - How? Watch the video. That is how, I guess.
– - An American that will always be on the fringe and never gain power. Enjoy being relegated to the Whig Party and being insignificant for the next generation.
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:53 pmHow would you have voted Duke?
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:54 pmApparently, you misunderstood my question, Mr. Duke. I was not asking “how” as a matter of practicality. I was asking “how” more as a matter of justification.
So, with this new understanding, can you now explain how a patriotic American reaches the point where he cheers a middle American city losing out on its bid to host the Olympic Games?
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:55 pmThis comment has been voted down. Click to read.
David Duke’s happy because he won’t have to shovel shi* after the equestrian events.
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:58 pmWhy would this be called “pay-back?” Payback for what?
Obama winning the presidency?
The crassness, anti-American sentiment, and rude, mean-spirited repugniscum are solidifying their growing reputation as the party of no, the party of losers, the party that is out of control, with no sane, reasonable person at the head.
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:59 pmthanks, Duke.
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:59 pmno need to shout…
Chicago, of course, please. But, I have a strong feeling Rio was going to get it because no South American country had ever hosted an Olympics. It was time. I was surprised Chicago was eliminated in the first vote. I thought Tokyo and Madrid were weaker choices. But, the bottom line is Rio got the votes. Good luck to them.
– - I agree.
October 2nd, 2009 at 7:59 pmIf it had been a Palin trip to endorse Anchorage for a future Olympics they would have been gushing and cheering wildly.
This had *nothing* to do with whether Chicago was the right venue, or what a president should do with his/her time – it was all about dissing Obama.
What an embarrassment these people are, and an insult to decency and to the American People.

Well, one thing is for sure….the conservatives still hate America after 8 years of the Bush Regime!
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:00 pm“Those folks in the video weren’t cheering for Chicago’s loss. It was for Obama’s loss. It was seen as a defeat for Obama.”
Duhh…
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:02 pmKay,
Your right, wouldn’t you think they’d have gotten all of that hate out of their system by now?
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:03 pmRemember during the 8 years of George Bush when George was giving the finger to the US Constitution, was torturing people, and was killing brown people in other countries all based on lies? Well, the conservatives loved that America! Oh yes they did. In fact, they called us traitors if we didn’t support George Bush and his carnage. Now we have a president who wanted to put America in the limelight for a future Olympics and the right wingers applaud when America loses the bid!
Oh wait.
They hate American jobs, American progress, and anything fun. They only like algae, pond scum, oil, death, killing, carnage, pillaging, raping, torturing, viruses, bacteria, and nothing good.
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:04 pmAs noseeum pointed out, no need to shout.
Now, why is cheering for the President’s failure when he’s representing the interests of the nation any less reprehensible than cheering for the failure of a middle American city’s bid to host the Olympic Games?
And on what basis do you separate out the two motivations? I mean, they were still cheering the failure of the bid of a middle American city to host the Olympic Games.
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:04 pmExactly Rich H. They hated America for so long that they just can’t help themselves at this point!
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:04 pm300,000 jobs and $20 Billion were lost. The Radical Right so consumed by hate of Obama would applaud. On the face it is a loss by Obama, but it is a also dramatic illustration of the petty radicals that have taken over the so-called conservative Republican party.
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:05 pmAmerica should be asking them, why do you hate America and Americans?
In fact…for the next several election cycles, I think we should be having that on campaign materials.
“Why Do Republicans Hate America and Americans?”
…I love it…Even if I just made it up. ;-}

October 2nd, 2009 at 8:15 pmI’m beginning to get a glimmer of light here.
I think what’s really going on is that tighty-righties are relieved that the Obamas and Oprah don’t have as much clout as the righties feared.
They really did think that the President was all-powerful. Hence their fear of him as some sort of “messiah”.
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:15 pmI’d hate to see how the America-hating Republicans would react if Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York were vaporized by nuclear weapons.

And stop shouting.

Right. All you saw was the “political defeat” and it was more important to you than a loss to the nation as a whole. You’d gladly accept a national failure as long as it could be seen as a partisan success, however pathetic.

Right?
AND FOR THE LAST TIME, STOP SHOUTING, A$$HOLE.
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:28 pmREAN…that’s what you get when you take “public” out of Re-public-an…because it is obvious that REAN’s don’t give a damn about America or the American public.
Their private, selfish greed trumps public well-being all the time.
We saw this throughout the Bush/Cheney years. Hurricane Katrina. Outing a covert CIA agent. The 9/11 attacks. Letting Wall Street bulls run wild, wrecking our economy. The shuttle disaster. The REAN’s private, selfish greed trumping the public’s well-being time after time after time.
The REAN’s are torpedoing healthcare reform.
And now we see these same treasonous, traitorous REAN’s cheering at Chicago not being picked to host the 2016 Olympics, something that would have boosted a lot of American businesses and generated a lot of jobs for American citizens.
The REAN’s, formerly known as “Republicans,” are obviously INSANE…and dangerous…and unpatriotic.
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:28 pmI’m with ya, Rich H. Honestly, if I had to choose an American city for the Olympics to be held, I would have chosen Detroit, Michigan because they need jobs. I’m glad President Obama went over there to lobby for Chicago, though. Can you imagine if he hadn’t gone and Chicago lost? Illinoisans would have been livid with him! He was damned if he did and damned if he didn’t go.
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:30 pmI think Obama’s calculation of the whole thing was that either they win the Olympics, or we all get yet another lesson in how the radial right is more interested in their political agenda than supporting something that would benefit the United States. This is exactly the kind of thing that will drive home the message to the average voter, that these radicals are not acting in the best interest of the country because of their hate of Obama. They cheered because America lost, that does not go away.

No shit. The difference is, we recognize when national interests transcend partisan politics. (For instance, remember in the wake of 9/11, when Bush had over 90% approval? Country Before Party).
That is apparently not a dynamic that the Right recognizes.

The President’s re-election does not seem to be a circumstance that you favor. Therefore, it’s reasonable to conclude that you would wish for economic catastrophe, since you seem so accepting of this “it’s all politics” idea.
The question is: would you welcome economic recovery if it meant a second term for Obama?

Murdoch is a democrat, look it up. The sheeple fell for it.
But seriously I WANT at least 2 parties running this country, it not fair that america is being lead by a glutton and a retard. Give me 2 real parties that are both out to help americans and not their own pet projects. GRRR…

Dear Crazy Legs,
Let me guess…
… I’m the homophobe for calling Ann Coulter out on it?
… I’m the (R)acist for calling Glen Limbaugh out on it?
… I’m the wacko for calling (R)ush Beck out for it?
… I’m the Fascist for calling the G(no)P out for it?
… I’m the Treasonist for saying, “Bush lied, Americans died!”?
… I’m the conspiracy theorist when I point and question why?
… I’m the anti-American for protesting a president during a time of war?
… I’m the Socialist when Congress enjoys a Social Welfare Program paid for by Our Tax dollars that they, in turn, deny Americans?
.
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:56 pmYes, better for my business. The problem is I firmly believe Obama’s economic ideas are going to be a disaster for the economy long term. I am especially worried about the dollar. Printing all these dollars is nuts. How do you defeat the USA? You can’t invade us and win militarily. You can win by killing the dollar, making it nearly worthless. Thus, crushing the economy.
Hmm… you can’t beat the US militarily, so you do it by killing the economy. Who’s plan does that sound like ? Kinda sounds to me like bin Laden’s, to destroy the US by suckering Bush into launching foolish wars of choice in the middle east, wars that were financed by borrowing from the Chinese (among others) rather than higher taxes, as virtually all other warring nations in history have done.
Yes, Obama’s economic policies are drastic and, in some cases I think foolish. But they are undeniably in response to the worst crisis we’ve faced in eighty years. A crisis that was generated in large part by economic policies you support.
So excuse me if I don’t buy your economic theories.
But at least we have established that if Obama’s economic policies lead to recovery and he thus wins re-election, you will be comfortable with his having earned a second term.
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:56 pmCrazy Train wants the President to invite a dead child to the White House to share a beer…
either that, or the troll thinks the President should get intimately involved in all law enforcement cases, whether federal or local.
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:58 pmThe current problem with the economy began a about a decade ago with deregulation. Remember the S&L crisis before this during GHWBs TIO.
In 2006 the FBI was warning of mortgage fraud.
It wasnt until 12-2007 that we, officially, were in a recession. TARP was in 2008 [GWB] and I think its over a hundred banks now that have imploded.
Anyway, I dont think even if McCain were prez things would be much, if any, different, economically, today. McCain probably would have already bombed Iran by now however.
October 2nd, 2009 at 8:58 pm.

I thought Obama was a Muslim? Why is he hosting beer socials, then?

October 2nd, 2009 at 8:59 pmBush was in charge of lowering the standards so that anyone could be a cop. He wanted dumber cops. when someone makes a mistake the only way to prevent them from doing it again is to tell them in word they can understand. Obama calling the cop’s action stupid sent a message that stupid actions are now going to be corrected. Crazy legs seems to think that police should never have to take responsibility for their actions. just like he must think corporations should be able to sell rat poo in our food without the big bad government telling them they can’t.

October 2nd, 2009 at 9:03 pmAnyone else notice that “better for the nation” never entered into Mr. Duke’s calculations?
Anyone surprised?
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:04 pmMr.Duke says:
Lots of conservative women in that crowd. I heard “it is called payback” at the end of that video.
As in, Republicans now hate America because America didn’t vote for them. That’s exactly what’s going on with the right wing today.
I know the right wing accused the left of hoping America would fail quite often during the Bush years. Mind you, that accusation was false; nobody on the left wanted America to fail at anything. The left just wanted us to take a smarter approach to better guarantee success. Could you imagine what they would have said if left-wingers were cheering and applauding losing an Olympic bid during the Bush administration? You have to imagine it, because nothing remotely similar ever occurred. But this? Wingnuts actually want America to fail, for real! This is proof.
.
Mr.Duke says:
Those folks in the video weren’t cheering for Chicago’s loss. It was for Obama’s loss. It was seen as a defeat for Obama.
That’s the problem – they don’t draw the line between defeat for Obama and defeat for America any more. They’ve completely lost the perspective of remembering they’re Americans too.
Thanks to this kind of behavior, they aren’t going to win another election for decades.
.
KayInMaine says:
In fact, they called us traitors if we didn’t support George Bush and his carnage.
I think that’s the difference – they view it as supporting this or that leader. We view it as supporting America itself. They don’t love America; they only love power.
.
Mr.Duke says:
Do you vote against YOUR interests? Don’t lie.
Nope. But I’m an American before I’m a Democrat or Republican. I wouldn’t vote against America just to make a Republican look bad. In fact, as I’m a non-billionaire, voting my own interest is exactly why I vote Democrat.
This didn’t have to be about politics. We didn’t make it political. The right were the ones who decided to make it a “Republican vs. Democrat” issue rather than the “pro-America” issue that it more accurately should have been. What’s stomach-turning is how easily the rest of them went along with that. If, say, Keith Olbermann told me that I should hope for a Republican to fail at trying to help America – not just fail at a misguided plan, but actually fail to help America – I just wouldn’t be able to root against my own country.
And you know, they’ve got the right to do that if they want. They can root against America, it is a free country after all. They can be as unpatriotic as they want. But the next time they wrap themselves in a flag and start sobbing about how much they love America, I’m going to be there to shove this back down their throats.
.
WillWrite4Food says:
As Dem strategists said today, if liberals condemned Bush trying to bring the Olympics to Texas there’d be cries of “unpatriotic” and “treason.”
And rightly so. Well, maybe “treason” would be over the top, but it’s certainly “unpatriotic.”
Simple fact is, the GOP ain’t winning another election unless they quit reversing everything they claim to believe in whenever it becomes convenient for them to do so. It’s called believing in something.

It’s obvious that these people have no idea what they are doing. They drink the Rush Beck kool-aid. How stupid can one be. One less point in there I.Q. and they all would be a loaf of bread. The wingnuts just don’t get, they lost and yet they want to spoil it for everyone in the country. Well it’s laughable as we watch the wingnuts sink into the party of nothing.

October 2nd, 2009 at 9:13 pmWhat a sick country this America has become. We have Americans glad that this country lost just so they could say the President lost. These people have the nerve to call themselves patriotic Americans. I don’t care who the President is or what party he belongs to, I will root for my country, because this would have been a good thing for the people of this country.
The unpatriotic Americans who look at this as some sports game, were my side won and yours lost are sick little human beings, and I’m being kind.

October 2nd, 2009 at 9:20 pmThanks Max. Earlier I asked the neck drooling knuckle dragger to provide a link to an article about the child being beat with RR ties. Guess what? He didn’t do it. Shocker! They never do ’cause the trolls are always lying & deceiving through their teeth.
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:20 pmCrazy left us for his indoctrination lesson…
p.s.
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:20 pmCrazy,
When is murdering someone something to make a joke about?
What kind of person uses another person’s murder as their platform to advance a joke about the President of the USA?
Sad. I get it if you disagree with the administration on policy.
The Olympics aren’t policy. They would be good for us. I’m happy for Rio, but I’d rather the event be held in the U.S.
People that cheer this loss are so focused on politics they’ve lost sight of everything else.
President Obama was right to make the effort. This video and other examples of people celebrating the loss only further marginalize the same people popping the champaign tonite.
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:21 pmWith that kind of crazy wingnut hate I don’t see aaronk being happy ANYWHERE in America, much less Chi-town.
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:24 pmThey have called everyone everyname they can think of at the same time. Its bizarre. They are just angry people shouting whatever glowers into wick brain existence.
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:24 pmI’m thrilled for Rio de Janiero, hate the republican party, and love the United States of America.

October 2nd, 2009 at 9:25 pmParticularly the “American Dream”
Based on what I’ve been reading, my understanding is that the bid for “Chicago 2016″ was first put in motion back in June of 2008. If this is correct, shouldn’t that mean that this was actually the Bush administration’s idea? After all, back in June of 2008, Bush was still in the White House because the election hadn’t been held yet. If this is indeed the case, then why are all the conservatives celebrating? For that matter, would they still have celebrated if the 2008 election had gone the other way but the Olympic Committee decision hadn’t? Possibly…but I’m inclined to doubt it somehow.
The most likely explanation seems to be that they thought (perhaps not without reason) Obama might receive most of the credit had the Olympic Committee ruled in favor of Chicago — which means that their recent complaints and current elation is nothing more than political theater. My guess is that had Chicago won the bid, the right wing would e’en now be rushing to insist that it was Bush’s idea in the first place and that Obama shouldn’t be given any credit for it — and they’d make every effort to deflect attention away from the fact that this would completely contradict all their previous opinions in the matter. It’s hard to see this as anything other than yet one more excuse for attacking Obama. As I said earlier this week on another thread, it’s not really logical for them to try making the claim that they’re concerned about this for financial reasons…not when so many of them made nary a peep of protest while the previous President was spending money like water with little or no oversight.
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:26 pmBackup cheered the 8 years of criminal, treasonous activity of the Bush Regime however!
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:26 pmYes Bluestocking, George Bush was the first to lobby on behalf of Chicago being picked for the 2016 Olympics. As usual, the conservatives who love George were watching Fox News for those 8 years and missed this little fact.
THEY’VE MISSED A LOT OF FACTS OVER THE YEARS!
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:27 pmI think Crabby Legs left us quite some time ago.
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:27 pmKay,
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:27 pmI know. But like the good troll, he continued “ON SCRIPT”.
Kay,
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:30 pmBackedup is just brushing back the wool from his view.
I think that many of them are just cynical that way and why they gravitate toward El Flushbowl Blimpblobs rhetoric.
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:31 pmDefending the American Dream
These people really love their jingoism and, I gotta say, all this branding and rebranding, framing, trial tested language, is getting quite weak.
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:39 pmCo-sign.
Absolute agreement, backup. If you don’t mind an impertinent question, I’d really like to know your opinion on something.
The display of elation so many conservatives are feeling right now. How widespread it is. What, if anything, does it suggest to you about the state of the conservative movement today?
Were I a conservative, I would be embarrassed and ashamed.
Please know that I say that as someone who has a degree of sympathy for some classically conservative ideas like non-interventionism and keeping the government from ballooning out of control.

Max, that’s a great read. Thanks for the link.
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:48 pms usual, the conservatives who love George were watching Fox News for those 8 years and missed this little fact.
Its something they are quite, apparently, proud of.

This is from an earlier thread today, featuring McCain’s former campaign manager Steve Schmidt at the Atlantic’s “First Draft of History” convention.
The Atlantic’s First Draft of History…
“Leading Journalists, Fascinating Newsmakers and America’s Most Eminent Historians Write the First Draft of the History of Our Time”

October 2nd, 2009 at 9:52 pmDoes anyone now doubt in the least that these rightwing nutjobs are truly detached from any sense of reality.

October 2nd, 2009 at 9:58 pmnoseeum,
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:59 pmI thought their bible was the first draft?
A poll taken earier shows almost 80% of the public WANTED the Olympics in Chicago. So once again, the Righties blew it.
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:59 pmTrollspotter. This is going to sound disingenuous, but I don’t consider myself much of a conservative.
But, I do spend a lot of time defending the conservative position; as an apologist.
I don’t feel ashamed, but embarrasment is accurate.
I believe issues aren’t black and white. I believe that socialism has it’s virtues and so does capitalism. I am under the impression that no one has a monopoly on good ideas. Humans are fallible. All humans.
But this. It’s indefensible. It’s not the greatest crime to humanity, but there is nothing to defend.
It’s the Olympics. There’s no reasonable downside to getting the Olympics. These examples are so partisan, they applaud the obvious and unmitigated setback to the U.S.
I don’t know how widespread it is. But, yeah, it’s embarrassing.
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:59 pm#132 X,
Then who’s the down vote troll lurking?
I meant Shabby Legs had left us by other means, oh, by such things as brain waves.

They hate American jobs, American progress, and anything fun. They only like algae, pond scum, oil, death, killing, carnage, pillaging, raping, torturing, viruses, bacteria, and nothing good.
I can understand being upset about the conservatives regarding any number of issues, but as a biologist, I have to declare that this statement just goes too far. KayInMaine, what did algae and bacteria ever do to you? Trust me, no conservative likes algae. They are active involved in carbon sequestration and are pro-biodfuel. ;)

October 2nd, 2009 at 10:09 pmtbone@161, Can we say the Repugs are lower than algae? Becaus,e as a nature lover I’ll chose algae over a Repug any day of the week!
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:11 pmThe GOP decided it was cool with them to not win an election in Illinois ever again. Works for me.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:11 pm@163, What about the dead children of the IRAQIS! Georgie boy and his cabal started a war that destroed many innocent children AND our soldiers! WTF? Go away!
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:14 pmBah hahahahahaha! Exactly!

If you pat it hard enough it can be stir-fried quite nicely.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:18 pmSo, lets take a step back.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:19 pmDo we REALLY think that President Obama is going to sit still for 2 denials? I think not. He will return and shove this Healthcare bill right up the GOP’s ass, Public option and all.
Noseeum, I just apologized to the algae and now you’re saying to stir fry it and then eat it? LOL! Okay.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:19 pmDoes teh Crazy have proof that James O’Keefe doesn’t target minorities?
While teh Crazy may give me his thumb down…

October 2nd, 2009 at 10:22 pmHard to get enough to make a patty.
Crab Legs,
I didn’t know we had beef with the AARP. I’m the leader of this organization. If there’s a conspiracy going on to make me the last to know things around here, I’m going to torture the faulty line of communication until all is back in sync, and that may include yanking your job. Are we clear?
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:23 pmDeath,
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:24 pmI hope he gives them SINGLE PAYER as the appropriate schadenfreude.
I don’t think algae fares to well in the bio-fuel process, either.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:25 pmEither way, it gets cooked.
;)
Death@174, I think the Repugs underestimated Obama again. They did the same with Clinton. Remember the interview with Chris Wallace when he stuck his finger in his face? The look said it all. These Repugs believe all the hype. What will it get them? Maybe a win in 2010, but long term? No way! The Country is changing. Just look at the people in the video. All older white people cheering the fact that America lost. Some image huh?
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:26 pmI predict the GOP will die a very extrutiatingly horrible death. It already has its head chopped off, and is flailing around like a headless chicken. It will not be pretty.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:31 pmDeath@183, Awww.. Someone is giving us the ‘Thumbs Down’ Could a certain troll be lurking about?
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:35 pmbackup, thanks for that. You may not consider yourself much of a conservative, but you’re probably the closest thing to one on this blog. The others here who claim to be conservatives tend to be total nuts and desperate negative-attention seekers. We have to get past all that. Maybe you’re less of a conservative and more of a contrarian who likes to apologize for the right wing for the fun of it. Dunno. But whatever the case, I often learn something when I chat with you so thanks.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:39 pmBah hahahahah! You’re resorting to saying anything to make yourself and your party feel better. Well, the truth is (take your fingers out of your ears so you can hear the truth for once!)….no one has blamed the conservatives for the IOC picking Rio over Chicago. No one. What we’re trying to point out to you today is (take your hands off your eyes! it’s easier to see that way!)…..you conservatives are proving once again that IT’S YOU WHO REALLY HATES AMERICA AND TODAY IS ONE MORE EXAMPLE, BECAUSE YOU’RE APPLAUDING AMERICA LOSING OUT TO HOSTING THE OLYMPIC GAMES. But hey! We’ve known for years you conservatives truly are the ones who hate America and this is why we’ve been pointing that out also.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:40 pmHealth care is still happening, Crazy Bastard. Oh wait! You’re a Fox News viewer who once again didn’t get the news today!
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:41 pmCrazy Legs says:

Crazy Legs says:
According to you far left loons the conservatives have single handidly stopped the olympics and health care reform in one week. Sounds pretty powerful to me.
Yes, that was top priority on the weekly agenda here at RNC. The team succeeded.
Are you going rogue? I’ll have your ass out of here in a hot nanosecond.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:45 pmTrollspotter. you’re cool.
The people cheering our failed Olympic bid are not.
See ya.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:45 pmAnother right wing activist judge….
http://rawstory.com/2009/10/judge-says-cia-can-cover-up-destruction-of-interrogation-tapes/
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:47 pmRepubs/conservatives hate America & Americans. This is just more proof. They’ll hate anything if they think it promotes their hate-filled, racist party. Repubs & the GOP are on the way out. They don’t even realize it.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:50 pmInteresting Article today. It talks about the Repugs believing in the hype and not facing reality. Oh, they have their leaders. Glen Beck, Limpballs, Hannity.. But who appeals to the younger more tolerant generation? NO ONE. I spend a lot of time with young people and they believe in Obama. If the repugs want to get back in power, they must have a positive message. What we have seen from the Repugs is fear, xenaphobia, Homophobia and general nastiness.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:50 pm.
Dear Crazy,
Anyone who was anyone that was paying attention this last decade can tell you…
… This present we are living in, forebode itself during Bush Years.
.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:50 pmHave a good night.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:51 pmWhy is every other comment voted down? It sure makes it a PITA to read these threads.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:51 pmMr. Duke says:

Por que você não deixa o país agora perdedor?
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:51 pmTo English for you David Duke…
Shut up.
You hate America. Bottom line. How can you laugh when we just lost a possible 300,000 jobs and over 20,000,000,000 in revenue that would have boosted the American economy.
Why don’t you leave the country now loser?
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:52 pmCrazy Legs says:
Really? I could post at least 50 just like this one…..
So could six blind and brain-dead chihuahas. It’s really not intended to be a point of pride.
Seriously, belly button lint could work that out in a matter of a few minutes.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:53 pmNo surprise there. Everything sounds “pretty powerful” to the powerless.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:55 pmtoonces says:

Not nearly the PITA it was when we had to wade through all the stupid ones which get voted down.
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:56 pmkaty says:
“When Obama bombs in another country, no one gets killed.”
-Bill Maher, just now…
OK, that’s actually funny, dammit. I’m actually kind of proud that even the leftiest of comedians (Maher, Stewart, Colbert) have a knack for occasionally doing a blowback on their own side. The wingnuts would pitch a fit if one of their own made that kind of reverse crack.
.
Crazy Legs says:
“When Obama bombs in another country, no one gets killed.”
Tell that to Parents of fallen American soldiers that have died since jan16. and parents of innocent Afganis.
Yeah, Obama shouldn’t have lied to Congress to get the authorization so he could launch the invasion of Afghanistan. Oh wait, that was the other one.
You know, if Bush had concentrated on Afghanistan instead of using it as an excuse to get tangled in Iraq, we’d probably have accomplished our goals there by now, and could have left.
Remember 9/11.
.
Crazy Legs says:
On another note, how long has obama been in aarp’s back pocket?
What are you talking about? Does the right wing hate the AARP now? That would be a tremendous gift to the Democratic party, so please do let me know.

October 2nd, 2009 at 11:02 pmI’m going to bed. Night all! :-)
October 2nd, 2009 at 11:03 pmI still can’t get out of my head Beck and Limpballs gloating how we lost the Olympics. Could you imagine if it happened ifa Repug president? They would be demanding blood! Unreal.
October 2nd, 2009 at 11:06 pmShouldn’t these people be drowning government in a bathtub by demanding tax breaks for the wealthy, or maybe cooking up a phony war to scam money from the US Treasury, or letting Financial Institutions go unregulated until the whole system is endanger, again an excuse to take more treasure. Who thought they cared about anything but their own greed…oh yeah that’s right, that is all they care about.
October 2nd, 2009 at 11:07 pmEven better!
Hope you’re right about that.
October 2nd, 2009 at 11:07 pmnoseeum, I believe you’re right!
Poor dysfunctional Crazy Leg, no wonder he’s so angry.
October 2nd, 2009 at 11:09 pmHow in the world can these pukes hate ni66ers so much that they want to see America fail as long as Obama does?

October 2nd, 2009 at 11:22 pmIt’s 100% looneytunes but very instructive. Now it’s clear why so many of them slandered lefties as “unpatriotic” during the Bush years….they were projecting all their own misplaced partisan bullsh!t.
As long as it can score them political points, they hope America fails.

October 2nd, 2009 at 11:39 pmHey, ElBruce, I know you’ve had conversations with the aaronk troll where he specifically tried to pass himself off as reasonable. Have you checked this out?

October 3rd, 2009 at 12:07 amSho’ nuff WTGRM, also claimed a wife, and large capital investments in the last year. I tend to take folk at face value unless their claims are bizarre. What a flipping disappointment this dude is, I’m still searching for one righteous conservative.
October 3rd, 2009 at 12:07 amHi Crazy Legs
October 3rd, 2009 at 12:07 amAnd this relates how? Are you still reaching out? So how do you family members feel about your illness? Are they supportive or do they jut sort of do the eggshell dance? You have told them haven’t you? There is no shame in mental illness. I am sure they will be as confused as the rest of us as to what the hell you think you are accomplishing but I am certain they will want to help you get better…. You do want to get better don’t you Crazy Legs?
Scrambled Eggs sez:

October 3rd, 2009 at 12:27 amI think the odds are excellent that it’s the same guy. Our aaronk says he lives in a blue state, the aaronk I linked to claims to live in a blue state. Our aaronk recently said he was going to an Einstein Brothers just a few hours drive from where the other aaronk claims to live.
Our aaronk has also recently come out as a troll:
Also, previous statements by our aaronk have shown him to been pretty nutty, including the idea that Hitler was a lefty.
Add in the lie our aaronk told about being respectful when really he went after Ted Kennedy as viciously as he could not 24 hours after the man’s death. Add in the lie our aaronk told about not defending right wing calls for violence, when really he tried to pass of Glenn Beck’s habit of openly fantasizing about bludgeoning, poisoning or choking prominent liberals to death as just “humor” and “sarcasm.”
Same right-wing lunatic, it’s pretty clear to me.

George W. Bush was unequivocally trying to get the Olympics to Chicago.

October 3rd, 2009 at 12:55 amWell, since you obviously can’tr be bothered to read through the previous comments in this thread, several of which outlined “what the beef” was, here’s the beef:
for some reason, the failure of an Olympic bid for a middle American city, a bid that would have benefited the Chicagoland area and the entire nation, was cause for celebration among some conservatives.
There was no ideological battle here; no “liberal” or “conservative” values at odds with each other over this bid. A successful bid would have benefited the nation, and this incident makes clear that the Right can’t have that as long as a Democrat is in the White House.

The president knows the content of his speeches and involves himself in the production. In line with my party’s expectation that this president walk on water, we expect him to memorize entire speeches word-for-word and make war decisions in snap.
The important part is that he agrees with and makes relevant and substantial the contents of the speech. He needs the paper form/teleprompter to stay in form; he doesn’t have time to juggle with his memory.
Once the speech is made, in the appropriate setting, he’ll answer questions substantively, not covered by his teleprompter.
He’s president and there’s only 24 hours in a day, you know?
October 3rd, 2009 at 1:12 amPretty good, conman. I see you’re pasting what you put at comment 41 on more than one thread, so what I’ve pasted in bold below your comment is an initial response to that. The rest is less considerate.
@ 41. conservative guy says: Guess the Obamas and Oprah don’t have as much clout as they thought. October 2nd, 2009 at 8:11 pm
That may be, conman, but on the other hand, it strikes me that it’s really kind of American to give it a try. The fact that the conservatives and reactionaries would prefer to mope around and say we can’t tells us something about their claims to be representative of the better America.
Oh, pardon me, you don’t want to mope around and say we can’t; you want to play schoolyard traitor and stab the President in the back while claiming to be good Americans instead of sore losers and useless arsewipes. Just what we need; a pack of bad sports and dyspeptic idiots with bullhorns and internet access.
Well, yes indeed, you got what you wanted. You won. And Obama and the country lost. But it’s more the country’s loss than President Obama’s. He still has more stuff to do in serving the nation’s interest and we’re sure you’ll be out there every inch of the way, rooting for the other side to win.
So, who are you backing in Afghanistan, conman? You cheering for the Pak Intel services or alQaeda in running the Taliban and killing our kids? Or are you hoping the Iranian backed insurrectionists in the west will become a dominant force?
How about the home front? You backing United Health or Anthem Blue for becoming the health insurance monopoly? Or do you just want one of them to get enough clout that they can close down Medicare and Medicaid?
What say, conman?

How so?
Can you provide evidence of your claim of Democrats “hoping your country loses wars”?
Do you think that our soldiers are incapable of committing crimes while in uniform?
Do you know what former President Bush the Elder used to call “treason”?
Let’s hear him tell it, from a CIA dedication ceremony, 1999:
“I have nothing but contempt and anger for those who betray the trust by exposing the name of our sources. They are, in my view, the most insidious, of traitors.”

October 3rd, 2009 at 1:21 amJeez, if you think the “prestige of the office” of President of the United States is so fragile as to be put at risk by supporting an Olympic bid from one of our world-class cities, you must really think ill of the prestige of the office.
Maybe Bush talking with his mouthful and giving unwanted backrubs at the G-8 had something to do with compromising that prestige?
If, as you seem to think, the “prestige of the office” is already that shaky, that is.
October 3rd, 2009 at 1:23 am1. Gitmo-still open, won’t be closed when he said it would, changed date twice.
2. Troops still in Iraq and more on the way to Afghanistan.
3. Taxes going sky high. Unemployment still rising.
4. Jobs going down.
5. Dems hold majority in both houses, have the white house and they can’t even pass health care reform.
6. How’s the “stimulus” working?
What taxes are going sky high and which of the current effects (1,2,3,4) weren’t, in fact, effected by the deeply-entrenching, long-simmered bad policies of the previous administration?
As for (5), we’re further now with reform than we’ve ever been, putting up ways to wring the insanity you condone out of the health system. A bill is slated to arrive on the senate floor around Oct. 19th.
As for (6), solving problems is usually a heckuva lot tougher than causing them. Who are you to complain about the horsepower and size of the tow truck when you crashed the extended cab in the ditch?

You’re right; after the graft and corruption of the Salt Lake City Olympics, why should the IOC trust any US city again?
But how is that a reason to celebrate the Olympics going to another nation?
Already answered.
But since reading comprehension seems among you lesser intellectual gifts, I’ll spell it out for you: I think it’s absurd to think that a trip to Copenhagen to support a US city’s bid for the Olympics as “squandering Presidential prestige”. The “prestige of the office” is not dependent on the outcome of a competition to determine the location of a sporting festival, and it’s incredibly silly to suggest that it is so dependent.

The fact that he backed a failed bid is humiliating.
No, it’s not. Nobody’s humiliated here, except for perhaps the “hate America first” right wing for the next four election cycles.
.
ralph the wonder llama says:
There was no ideological battle here; no “liberal” or “conservative” values at odds with each other over this bid.
This is the crux of the matter. It didn’t have to be a right-vs-left issue. It didn’t have to be politicized at all. There are a few things that make us all Americans together, and the Olympics was always about being non-political. The right wing didn’t have to bring this up at all. But the wingnuts can’t have that. It doesn’t matter what the issue is, they’re willing to tarnish it to drag it into their ongoing catfight with the rest of America.
It’s not like Obama was trying to start a war here. It’s not even as if he was trying to start a big social welfare program of some sort. It was just the Olympics. And they couldn’t even leave that alone.
This isn’t a failure for our side. Well, it might have been (a minor one) if they didn’t jump on it like this. But in politics, appearances matter. And the appearance that middle America is going to take away from this is that the GOP hates America and is rooting for other countries to beat us. It’s simply inexcusable. There’s no way they’re going to live that down for a number of election cycles.

They’re pretty impressed with him, yes. As well they should be.

ralph the wonder llama says:
Yeah, I’m sure you guys will get a lot of mileage out of trying to convince the American people that President Obama is not intelligent.
There’s nowhere they won’t go, nothing they won’t deny, no matter how blatantly obviously wrong they are. Which is another reason they’ll never win another election in our lifetimes. The fact that they’ll gladly advocate what they (must) know to be a false is becoming more and more obvious to anyone.
.
Crazy Legs says:
1. I’d like quicker results, but at least he’s actually working on it, instead of refusing to even start.
2. Iraq: see #1. Afghanistan: shouldn’t have gone into Iraq; also, remember 9/11? I do.
3. Taxes have been reduced for most people. Unemployment still a concern.
4. That’s the same thing as “unemployment going up,” you’re repeating yourself.
5. Republicans are still obstructing necessary legislation.
6. Pretty good, more to come. This time last year everybody was saying we were supposed to be in a depression by now. Obama avoided that.
.
libsarefun says:
Oh, I get it. Opposing hosting the Olympics here is anti-american.
Yep.
.
libsarefun says:
Gee, I dunno, I reserve that term for stuff like, you know, hoping your country loses wars, accusing your military of murder, etc., what we used to call “treason”.
Oh, it’s not a big thing, but it’s telling. There was only an upside, and no downside, and still you opposed America. America won’t forget.
.
libsarefun says:
Of course, that would make most of the Dem leadership anti-american at best and treasonous at worst, so I understand why you have trouble with the concepts.
Nobody on our side ever actually advocated losing anything. This is a first in modern history.
October 3rd, 2009 at 1:48 amMore evidence that conservatives lack the ability to think critically and solve problems. they’re great at zeroing in on the most juvenile reduction of an opposing argument and making it sound as if it were a taunt at third-grade recess, but of course that particular skill has a limited use in adult commerce and policymaking.
(By the way, the “wishful thinking” that led to the present economic climate was neatly encapsulated in the words of our former Vice-President who said, “Reagan proved that deficits don’t matter”.)
October 3rd, 2009 at 1:49 amI stopped at a sod store today and picked up a sack of grass seed. I got a bid from a worker there to lay some fescue. He said, out of the blue, “Yeah, I can fix your lawn, and Obama’s gonna fix everything, isn’t he?”, in a sarcastic tone. The storekeeper looked uncomfortable. I looked him in the eye and said ” He’s trying to, and doing the best anyone can do, under the circumstances”.
October 3rd, 2009 at 1:49 amI didn’t say ” You still have work, my store and this one are still open and doing business, as well as the bank that I just left. A year ago, the survival of our whole economy was in jeopardy, remember?”
Or “It’s going to take more than eight months to fix eight years of Bush”.
I also didn’t say “Your life must be hell, waking up every morning obsessed with hate for your president because he’s not white like you”.
I was thinking those things, but it would be pointless to say them to someone that sees lawncare as an opportunity to parrot political talking points.
I think I’ll just let him sod my yard, and as I pay and thank him I’ll open the door to my garage to reveal my giant Obama sign.
Finally the moron is tearing at the seams
How about invading Iran?
It will pay for itself in six days, six weeks, I doubt six months.

libsarefun says:
How about answering my question about squandering Presidential prestige?
I already did, but I’ll be glad to repeat myself:
The Office of the Presidency of the United States of America is no less prestigious today than it was yesterday.
You can’t have it both ways. If this was the tragedy and huge blow to the Presidency that you claim it is, then you shouldn’t be cheering either. But you are, which means you know it’s not.
.
Cowcharge says:
(well at least it shouldn’t, and never did before Obama decided to help out his buddies with a few billions, sorta like never being involved in Cambridge police work before)
Please provide a citation regarding wtf you’re talking about. Is this an invitation for me to play a Halliburton/KBM/Blackwater card?
.
Cowcharge says:
While the cheering was tasteless, there is some satisfaction to be had in that Obama didn’t succeed in tainting the Olympics with his corrupt Chicago pals as he did the election, and continues to do with the White House.
You just keep picking different areas of America to say mean things about. Eventually you won’t have anywhere left that can stomach you.
.
libsarefun says:
The fact that you equate the prestige of the Presidency to that of the presidency of Brazil proves my point. You don’t appreciate the difference. You don’t even see any.
If you deduct the hooting and howling right-wingers in America from the equation, how does the President lose any prestige by trying? It sounds to me like you’re saying that America shouldn’t try to do anything because we might not succeed. That’s pretty defeatist, IMO.
.
libsarefun says:
This is the same wishful thinking that led to the present economic climate.
No, it’s proven history, and I’ve cited plenty of links as evidence.
.
libsarefun says:
Hey, let’s have the Olympics here all the time. Every year in fact. We’ll all be rich!!!
It would certainly help if we could, but obviously it’s not up to us. It’s a little late to change your mind. And nobody said it would make us “all rich,” just that it helps the local economy of the host nation. Which you oppose, at least when the host nation in question is the United States of America.

I’m getting really curious about that… OK, found some stuff. Sarah Palin seems to have originated the term in late usage, claiming during the campaign that electing Obama at all would “diminish the prestige of the Presidency.” Interesting claim, that… I wonder what about his very existence would diminish the “prestige” of the office, regardless of any actual words or actions on his part? Hmmm…
In relation to this Olympics brouhaha, the term crops up in two places – first in FAUX Noise’s report (byline Eve Zibel); apparently they aren’t even trying to report it as news and are just giving opinion in its place. The second is in a Politico “Arena” post by Lurita Doan of “Federal News Radio.” Oddly enough though, she ends with:
In short, “we got our digs in, better retreat before we get a whooping and call it a victory.”
The rest of the references I found are all blog comments like those submitted here by these trolls.

October 3rd, 2009 at 7:39 amCongratulations to the right wing extremists. Today all of your hard work over the last 8 years came to a climax and I want to be the first to congratulate you on your success.
If anyone was paying attention, the very first question asked after the Chicago team completed their presentation was if fellow atheletes would have the freedom to visit with each other if America hosted the Olympics. I will admit I didn’t watch all of the questions and I don’t know if anyone asked about the degree of cavity searches they would have to endure if they came to the US.
Of all the questions to ask America about their intentions if they are allowed to host an event that is suppose to represent worldwide peace, the very first questioned the actual freedom that is still left in the USA.
Now I realize had McCain won the election, we could have held guns to the Olympic Committee’s head and forced them to give us the Olympics, regardless of how many civil rights have been stolen from the American people, and regardless of how much international atheletes would feel like they were in the police state that the Republicans would have turned this nation into.
Rightwing extremists can still be proud about how their anti-American agenda has ruined our reputation in the world, and this worked well to cause Obama to fail this week. So, even though you don’t control our government and cannot terrorize our citizens daily like you did when you controlled the white house, you can still hold your fascist heads high realizing your treason is still hurting America to this day.
Way to go!

You still haven’t agreed that Powell, Rice, et al deserve better than to be dismissed as race traitors for their political views.
My opinions on those individuals are different for each, actually. I don’t believe that Thomas is remotely qualified, and his judicial “decisions” are hardly legal arguments at all. He’s also a serial sexual harrasser. Rice is a sycophant who has based her career on saying whatever her bosses want her to say. Powell sold out his integrity (his major asset) for lies in a horrific mistake that has forever scarred an otherwise exemplary career. But I wouldn’t go so far as to call them “race traitors.” Of all those, Thomas is really the only one who insists on supporting white privilege, but even so that term’s too strong for me.

Perhaps the reason they were cheering was in response to the left’s behavior towards soldiers in Iraq.
Wanting them taken out of harm’s way from a war we had no business starting in the first place? Seems to me you were the ones basing your politics on filling body bags. How can you call such a thing “support?” Nobody on the left opposed our soldiers doing their duty. We opposed the order given by their Commander in Chief to invade another nation solely because of some lies that he told.
.
libertarian1969 says:
Perhaps the right wing’s stupid response was a reaction to a million comments and post like the ones above calling conservatives “stupid” and ignorant and implying they are racist from the left that anger and antagonize the right.
Look, it’s not our fault that so many of you are stupid, ignorant and racist. Stop blaming us for your shortcomings.
.
libertarian1969 says:
Perhaps they just want the government to leave them alone.
The one who’s founding document starts out “We the People?” The Constitution is not merely a mutual agreement for everybody to leave everybody else alone. America is a cooperative endeavor. If you don’t want to be a part of it, then leave.
.
libertarian1969 says:
Intrusions like taking away their right to defend themselves in their home. Rights to read whatever they want to read.
I haven’t heard anybody recently opposing either of those. Have fun, go nuts.
.
libertarian1969 says:
Maybe, they have religions beliefs and they don’t want to come home and hear about their children reading My Two Dads or Mary has Two Mommies.
The rest of the world isn’t going to pretend that gay people don’t exist for you. That’s not a right that you have. If you want your children to grow up believing there are no such thing as gay people, then don’t let them out of your house. I’d like my kid to grow up not knowing there’s such a thing as war or starvation (actually bad things), but I can’t demand that the world build a giant dome over my town to keep facts out.
.
libertarian1969 says:
Or maybe, just maybe, they are just like you and want to go to work, make an honest living, and go home with a few dollars without some much as a “by your leave” from the government or Wall Street.
Then they should stop doing things like supporting insane people who say Obama is a Nazi, that paid liars know better than scientists about science, that some people deserve rights and not others, that (almost) every country in the middle-East should be bombed flat, that we should torture people as a substitute for actual intelligence gathering, and so on. If they’d keep to themselves and stop trying to poison our politics with their stupid and evil, we wouldn’t have to keep pointing out that they’re being stupid and evil.
.
libertarian1969 says:
What is missing in your responses and theirs as well is a common respect. For democracy to work their has to be respect and a desire to compromise.
We didn’t start it. We only learned that respecting insane, evil idiots instead of throwing everything back we have against them leads to the further destruction of everything that America stands for. We tried being nice, for many election cycles. If it had worked, we’d be nice today. It didn’t. We’re not.
I know it’s distressing for the right to see that the left doesn’t roll over and submit every time you throw a crazy attack their way any more. Too bad. For far too long, politics was like watching a Tyson vs. Ghandhi fight. Must be fun for Tyson, but you don’t reserve the right to be the only ones who are willing to stand up for what they believe in. And as soon as we stood up, it turned out you didn’t believe in anything the whole time.
Of all the complaints that wingnuts make when they come in here, their shock and alarm at the fact that we aren’t a bunch of peacenik hippies who “reasonably agree” with anything they care to say is the most egregious. You do not have the right to non-opposition, especially given that 100% of everything you support politically is stupid and evil.
Compromise with those who will not compromise in return, is mere capitulation.
October 3rd, 2009 at 8:26 amOn the face of it, who would have paid for the Olympics to be hosted in the USA?
You would.
I would.
It would be our tax dollars to build the stadiums and the swimming pools.
Granted, there would have been jobs for construction workers and food service vendors in greater Chicago land, for a time.
Who would reap the profits for the venture?
Coca-Cola, Pepsi, McDonalds, Nike, Adidas, mainstream media, etc.
And it would still be your dollars going into their hoppers, not the dollars of foreign visitors.
October 3rd, 2009 at 8:33 amSadly, this video is now out to the public to scar America’s chances for 2020.

If you want to look at the event from strictly a business point of view, you may have a valid issue.
Yes. Large corporate business would benefit from selling and advertising their products.
In a smaller and temporary scale, employees in hotels, restaurants, taxi drivers, clothing retailers.
If we take the wingnut approach, they argue that much *government* money would go *corrupt* Obama’s cronies in Chicago.

October 3rd, 2009 at 8:55 amAlejandro says:
What are you going to do to someone who doesn’t want to be part of your program and also doesn’t want to leave?
“My program” is America, as established by the Constitution, as written by the founding fathers. If you don’t want to be a part of that, you don’t have to live here. If you’re going to live here but you still don’t want to participate, then I’m going to point out that you are a selfish hypocrite who wants all of the advantages of being American with none of the responsibility. You like to imagine yourself as an independent person who doesn’t need anybody else, but the fact is that you need the rest of us very badly; you just don’t want to chip in your fair share to keep everything going.
And in the final analysis, that’s OK. People can have selfish and hypocritical opinions if they want. It’s a free country. I’m just going to point out that you are a selfish hypocrite, as well the opposite of a patriot. And I’ll keep saying it until I’m satisfied that nobody else has any illusions on the subject of what you are.

You will probably agree that the government is for the people.
Why the conservertarians continue to imply, that somehow today, our government should not be majority ruled but ruled, and so named, by what they call the ‘free market’
That ‘free market’ has gone from a revolving door politician pet to a zombay thats too big to let die and kept on public life support.

I’m just describing America as the founding fathers set it up via the Constitution. I’m sorry you don’t like it, but that’s how it always has been. Your argument still boils down to “I don’t want to chip in my fair share.” The perpetual complaint of the selfish convinces no one of anything.

Right… The advertisers pay NBC to broadcast the Olympics. NBC pays the Olympic committee, and the Olympic committee pays the local governments for any costs they incurred. That’s how local government investment in Olympic-related construction gets reimbursed, which was my original claim that you disputed. I don’t understand what point here is confusing to you.

I’m against that sort of thing too, but (company -> company -> civic infrastructure) is not the same economic exchange as (federal government -> company -> employees). It sounds to me like you’re confusing just about any kind of large economic interaction with any other.

You’re certainly confusing me.

I don’t recall disputing any of your claims.
I simply asked you some questions.
Lack of trolls got your panties in a bunch this morning?

You know what, I didn’t get enough sleep last night. You’re absolutely right, I had you confused with the parallel argument I was having with this guy in the next thread down.
Please accept my apologies.

No problem, apology accepted.
I’ll allow that my perspectives may be somewhat simplistic, and can easily be loaded down with a lot of inferences.
Truce, Bruce.
October 3rd, 2009 at 12:20 pmI think it’s important for people to be able to dissent.
If people feel that our leadership is taking us in the wrong direction, it’s important to be able to take to the streets to let them know how you feel.
For that reason, I think the tea parties are important.
For that reason, I think the protests against the Iraq War were important.
There is a downside to that dissent. It creates internal divisions that others can exploit.
Here’s Ahmadinejad
http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-general/20091003/ML.Iran.Nuclear/
He says the U.S. president made a mistake. He didn’t say the U.S. made a mistake.
I think it’s subtle, but important.
I think Ahmadinejad understands U.S. politics. I think he believes that if he can foment more internal dissension in the U.S., there will be less attention focused on him and his nuclear ambitions.
The video in this thread is an example of how ridiculously partisan our politics have become.
While it’s important to be able to voice opposition, it should be earnest. And with an awareness that even greater detractors are watching.
If you disagree with the President, that’s cool. But, if your disagreements have manifest to the point that you celebrate national setbacks, you’ve taken a ramp off the highway of reason.

Porque você é uma gatinha?
October 3rd, 2009 at 1:09 pmSo chicken legs, why are you a pussy?
October 3rd, 2009 at 1:10 pmMy answer to Happy Trails’ question was in the present tense.
Pinochet and Franco are past tense, and in light of the atrocities they committed, they’re not very funny people…
;)
October 3rd, 2009 at 1:11 pmAnd coming from someone who parrots screechmonkeys on AM hate radio 24/7/365, I expect this coming from a “Hipócrita racista que odeia América.”
October 3rd, 2009 at 1:15 pmPlease take note of the winky-winky-thingy at the bottom of the post, Cap’n.
Sir.
Hard to port it is.

OK, now I just gotta post this again: You are being shagged by a rare parrot!
October 3rd, 2009 at 2:07 pm479, OMG, that is funny!
October 3rd, 2009 at 2:16 pmWow, they really do hate America.
October 3rd, 2009 at 3:59 pmso under the administration, we’ve had historic discussions with north korea, iran, russia, and cuba, a dismantling of a missile shield in someone elses backyard, and less money to runaway defense programs. I guess the neocons are right, if american factories are making less bombs, we are losing?
Oh, and real classy cheering. Yay! We win! No olympics! Classy. That’s not dissent, that’s more like the kind of divisiveness, poor sportsmanship, and hatred that abate an international sporting event based on unity and inclusion. Plain and simple we don’t deserve it, regardless of what the president’s level of involvement is. Way to be a team, Classy
October 3rd, 2009 at 4:02 pmCrazy Eggs! Where have you been?
“thier”?
October 3rd, 2009 at 4:34 pmCrazy Legs says:
As soon as you asked them about why they call any black republican “uncle tom” and all the other racists names they immediately started making personal attacks or avoided it, completely!
You mean as soon as he demanded to know our opinion of prominent African-American Republicans, we either gave our specific opinions of them as individuals, or didn’t take the bait? That is correct.
October 3rd, 2009 at 4:35 pmAye, Crazy Eggs, you got to be seein’ libsrfun do his comedy shtick. It be as funny as a whale handing out cigars every time the submarine fires a torpedo!
October 3rd, 2009 at 4:40 pmOh Crazy Legs there you are. Now I know it is a little awkward but I do think at some point we are going to have to discuss medications. I myself prefer that we try all behavioral and cognitive approaches first but I can see a situation in which we may have to consider there use if we are going to get a handle on your f ucked up pussy homebound wannabe pretender condition.
October 3rd, 2009 at 4:42 pmBreaking news: Joe Scarborough bucks the wingnut trend on the Olympics:
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
October 3rd, 2009 at 5:09 pmThe estimated 300,000 plus jobs projected as a result of the 2016 Olympics coming to Chicago would not only have benefitted workers in Chicago but also in the surrounding states and probably across the whole country.
So it is not just Chicago and IL losing, the whole country has lost. What kind of human being would find this something to cheer about?
October 3rd, 2009 at 5:16 pmAnd you still haven’t explained what your motivations are. Many hours, days, even years now and oh so many names invested in negative attention seeking. Wjy?What is the point?
October 3rd, 2009 at 5:27 pmMost of them post here under different names.
October 3rd, 2009 at 5:36 pm—
Crazy Legs
One of the multitude of reasons you are rejected by all social groupsings you try to force yourself upon is your inability to support the things you make up. This probably began when you over inflated your significance in those playground lies that may have started this whole negative spiral which has led to your illness. I suggest that it might be helpful if you reread things first and ask yourself, “Did I make this up” and “Can I substantiate this”. When your posts become more data driven and reality based you will be on the track of constructive dialogue and away from homebound pussified negative attention seeking childish dipshitism…
Crazy Legs says:
You still haven’t agreed that Powell, Rice, et al deserve better than to be dismissed as race traitors for their political views.
Wrong again, as usual. See post #435.
October 3rd, 2009 at 5:40 pmI rest my case based on the responses.
October 3rd, 2009 at 6:17 pmNo one cared about the case in the first place. I think I will declare that libertarians are idiots that never get elected to anything and are so beyond reality that they put Bob Barr up as a presidential candidate. Like that dude understands persoanl freedoms. Now until a libertarian gets elected to something, I rest my case.
October 3rd, 2009 at 6:21 pmOh and incidentally resting your case doesn’t equal impressing the jury….
October 3rd, 2009 at 6:25 pmThank you all for proving my point. There was one intelligent response but for the most part I found your responses to be emotional illogical rantings that remind me of most of the rantings of Rush or Hannity or Beck. The problem is the left is just as extreme as the right and wants to restrict the people’s rights just as much. The rest of us have to sit by as you both fight it out. I propose we simply abolish the Federal Constitution and allow the rest of us leave to start all over again. We the people do have the right to abolish it and form a new government.
I propose the liberals take the East and west coast and conservatives that the midwest and south coast. We can see who is the most successful.
October 3rd, 2009 at 6:31 pmAs if we needed more proof? The Reichwhiners are traitors. So long as the Democrats hold power, and our President isn’t entirely Caucasian? They will cheer for the failure of our nation. They would rather see a sheet of radioactive glass from the Pacific to the Atlantic than admit their failures that led us to this point.
October 3rd, 2009 at 6:31 pmI see we have a “new” stupid, traitorous, troll called libertarian1969 who wants to dissolve the Union rather than try to reason things out.
October 3rd, 2009 at 6:34 pmYou see, stupid troll, it takes a profoundly stupid person to give up without trying options that may solve ongoing problems. And it takes a traitor to want to destroy a nation from within.
October 3rd, 2009 at 6:38 pmCan I inquiry as to how this clown was selected to determine what is and is not an intelligent response? Their whole premise is silly beyond all of my most minimal expectations. Saying shit does not make it so as all truely informed and critical thinking minds know.
October 3rd, 2009 at 7:04 pmGood evening, dbadass.
I heard the phrase, “lizard brained goobers” and think it applies to the bulk of the Reichwhiners including the few who are at least smart enough to realize their failures and decided to start calling themselves “libertarians” in an effort to escape the taint of the Republican brand. Sigh…
On an off topic note, our fall is a week or so behind schedule, again. I haven’t gotten a report from my old hunting buddies but they got a nice overcast day for the opener. I haven’t seen much of anything for Northern birds. Heck! Even the maples aren’t in full color yet.
October 3rd, 2009 at 7:14 pmEast and West coast would be the better deal, except for the food.
But, why not work it out and stay together?
October 3rd, 2009 at 7:16 pmThese dogmatic jerks are so full of ideological hate. They would cut of their noses to spite their own face.
October 3rd, 2009 at 7:32 pmI don’t like the cut of the Reichwhiners noses either. Nor the cut of their jibs.
October 3rd, 2009 at 7:43 pmHrundi V. Bakshi says:
“Also what part of the country will backup and Crazy Eggs be in? I do not wish to be fellow countrymen with either one of them.”
I’m sure we’ll need some sort of DMZ, we can park them there, mending the razor wire.

I rest my case based on the responses.
Well then, you lose.
.
libertarian1969 says:
The problem is the left is just as extreme as the right…
The problem is, we’re not. We just moved further out because being “moderate” or “reasonable” wasn’t working. The right was winning, and getting more and more extremist every day… and still winning, tearing the country apart the whole time. So we got more extreme, and managed to start winning again. Deep down inside, we’re all moderate liberals rather than radical leftists. But we have to play this part until the very real threat of extremist right-wing neoconservatism has been defeated. The consequences of their madness can be borne by America no longer.
Absolutist statements, bluntly put, win the day. Karl Rove taught us that. And we learned his lessons, in electoral defeat after electoral defeat. This is the monster he created.
They started this fight. We’re only going to finish it. They set the tone, and even with our intentional increase in responsive shrillness, we’re still less extremist than they are.
If you can’t see that difference, then you’re part of the problem.

libertarian1969 says:

Ah, the perennial solution of the young… You’re still in college, aintcha? Who’s a cute little political puppy? Who’s a cute little political puppy?
October 3rd, 2009 at 9:04 pmI imagine this “world quarters” to be a secret volcano lair.
October 3rd, 2009 at 10:40 pmOnly in the repug proven crazy world a “failure” is consider not having the Olympics in Chi-town.
Yeah that “failure” is gonna make us shock and awe and torture Iraqis.
GMAFB stinkin teabaggers. GTFOOH Your nothing racist, bloody behavior under chimpy and the pack of idiots that the repugs cherish now are nothing to be proud of.
I’m glad the Olympic committee, for the first time, are welcoming Latins. This is the year of the firsts.
And we will still benefit from the event.
Talk about a grand time!
Great going repugs, I’m sure you inspire the US teams around this country to do their best.
DUMBASSES!
October 4th, 2009 at 2:12 amRepublicans are despicable. It’s a mental illness.
October 4th, 2009 at 3:06 amI know this thread is pretty played out, and pretty much everything’s been said. But I have to comment, that this is very disturbing.
Competitiveness is one thing, even in politics – a certain amount of it is natural and useful. But this goes beyond that. These folks take delight in others failing.
I recall watching Rush Limbaugh’s TV show back in the 90’s. I’m comfortable enough in my viewpoints that I can watch and listen to others (such as Rush – and at the time his reputation hadn’t fully formed).
During one segment he was talking about how about 10,000 government workers had gotten laid off as part of Gore’s efforts to reduce the size of government. While I can see people might be happy that the size of government is reduced – a goal even progressives share. But the show took on a different twist. They were happy that those people lost their jobs. They were cheering, specifically, over the misfortune of those who had to go home that night, pink-slip in hand.
This reminds me very much of that. It’s disgusting in ways that I can’t even describe. I never watched Rush’s show after that, and it actually began to crystallize, in my mind anyway, just how perverse the other side had become. (Perhaps they were always that way, but if finally became clear to me.)
October 4th, 2009 at 7:38 amPersonally I cheer because maybe now Berry will realize his crap stinks, and it is not all about him, you all just stop and cream your pants every time he opens his mouth and it has gone straight to his head

You’d be singing a different tune if we’d included booger flicking and goober sucking as events, wouldn’t you, i ain’t (myself so i’m here to annoy) you?
Who’s Berry – you got a DingleBerry stuck in your skivvies again? That why you chafe them up in a knot that turns your attitude about as rancid as a three or four day old roadkill sail skunk?
October 5th, 2009 at 1:37 ami aint you says:
Personally I cheer because …
You know what this post just made me realize? The wingnuts are so bitter because they’re jealous. The Democratic party is chock full of intelligent, eloquent politicians who tackle real issues based on a deep understanding of the problems that beset America today. And what does their side have? A bunch of philandering and corrupt C-streeters, radio blowhards who spin fantastic scenarios, and a “base” that thinks we’re in the End Times and forms their politics accordingly.
The right wing approach – their entire worldview – has been thoroughly discredited by the facts. I’d be bitter too, if I was them.
October 5th, 2009 at 2:05 amConservatives are so determined to stop Obama from succeeding that they are willing to destroy America in the process.
October 5th, 2009 at 11:33 amThank you for your sharing.!
