Broun calls Pelosi a ‘domestic enemy of the Constitution.’

brounie2At a town hall last week, Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) continued his campaign to inject over the top, paranoid rhetoric into America’s political discourse. “I’m chairman of the Second Amendment Task Force fighting for Second Amendment rights. Those gun rights are actually critical to prevent treason in America,” said Broun, according to Athens Banner-Herald reporter Blake Aued, who provided a transcript of Broun’s remarks to TPM. Broun then said that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is one of the “domestic enemies of the Constitution” that he says he swore to defend against:

I’ve gotten to be good friends with Justice Antonin Scalia, who he and Justice Clarence Thomas are the only ones who have any concept of what the Constitution is supposed to be and, and do what they’re supposed to do as justices by upholding the Constitution. But, in fact every, when I was sworn into the Marine Corp, I was sworn to uphold the Constitution against every enemy, foreign and domestic. We’ve got a lot of domestic enemies of the Constitution (applause) and one of those sits in the speaker’s chair of the United States Congress, Nancy Pelosi.

Previously, Broun has said that President Obama wants to go “down the road” of Hitler and has the pieces in place to “establish an authoritarian government.” He has also said that Obama, Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) are part of a “socialist elite” that wants to declare martial law in America.

Essentially, Broun is accusing Pelosi of treason. Fine. He should immediately start the process of bringing charges. Let’s see if he’s got the stones to stand behind his rhetoric.

Broun, claiming he’s critical to preventing treason in this country.

Orwell would be proud with that logic.

Also, who needs guns…when Broun commands an army of bears set to overthrow the communist/socialist/marxist/fascist/nazi/multicultural dictatorship we’ve so obviously slid into.

Is Broun suggesting that the only way to deal with “treason” is to shoot people? And what does he consider “treason” — any opinion he doesn’t agree with?

Since he considers Nancy Pelosi a “domestic enemy”, does this mean he wants her shot?

At what point does free speech become a danger to society?

Wilson or pimping for dough for his own Congressional district. After all, Braun became a Congressman in 2007.

  18. Just Hormiga says:

With all of the vile crap coming out of Broun’s mouth, is it any wonder that we’ve got rightwing lunatics with guns threatening to overthrow the government?
Broun should be stripped of his position. How do they allow these treasonous a$$holes to run any aspect of government?

  19. missmolly says:

Um…what’s the bear for? Did Broun misread the second amendment and think it has to do with the right to arm bears?

  20. Uncle Ho says:

WTF is it with repiggies and projection?
Every act, every republlic party bill passed, every utterance by the GOP for years has been treason.

    Patriot act
    warrantless wiretaps
    abolition of habeus corpus
    signing statements
    torture
    “free speech” zones
    Total Information Program
    “I am the decider”
“it would be easier in a dictatorship, just as long as I’m the dictator”
“the Constitution is just a God damn piece of paper”

These acts have been instituted and sponsered by a knuckledragging neanderthal administration for the last 8 years. Sure sounds like enemies of the Constitution to me.

This Broun (DRT-AU*) is a real piece of work. I really thought that no one would ever be able to top Imhofe for sheer lunacy but he has gone and done it.

Seriously, I am really worried that nut-balls like this are actually serving in Congress (serving — no; I should have said “keeping their seats warm”). I notice that most of them are from southern states. They are mentally imbalanced and psychologically damaged. Must be the result of generations of inbreeding and incest.

This is actually where Scalia and Thomas fail. Scalia most likely would never have voted for a ton of rights we have nowadays – such as Brown vs. Board of Education – because I’m sure he’d argue “it’s not defined in the Constitution as an inalienable right.”

  103. JK says:

Broun correct but for wrong reason:

Rep. Pelosi is, without any doubt, a domestic enemy of the Constitution.

Every Congressman and federal office holder took an oath to protect us from these enemies. The corporate “coup de tat” of our government has been near total. Few defenders of our Constitution remain in higher office (in any branch of our government).

Pelosi blocked all attempts to enforce the Constitution and to stop ongoing high crimes. She could have forced (from January 2007 on) and end to ongoing “War Crimes” including the barbaric, genocidal, crimes against humanity which include Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, and more. She could have done this without a single Republican or “Blue dog” democrat vote.

Pelosi single-handedly prevented impeachment proceedings against one of the worst of the worst war criminals in over half a century. She allowed the continued funding of heinous crimes in Columbia, and dozens of other countries around the world. She bears responsibility for at least 300,000 dead defenseless civilians and at least 2000 US troops. She allowed funding for the wholesale destruction of our Constitution and the personal protections contained therein, for massive domestic surveillance, for ongoing torture of innocent civilians. Her time in office could most charitably be called and ongoing blatant violation of her oath of office as she has blocked most attempts to stop the attacks on our Constitution (which continue)

Although Broun is also (playing the odds) likely to be a domestic enemy of the Constitution for encouraging much of white I mention above, and he is wrong in his reasons, he is correct that Pelosi is inarguably a domestic enemy of the constitution.

    Peace JK

PS: Here is a good cartoon of what it would have been like if Pelosi had been “Speaker” in 1974. http politicalirony.com/2008/07/13/if-todays-congress-presided-during-watergate/
