Engaging in a bit of explicit blog-baiting on his radio show today, Glenn Beck declared the naming of President Obama as this year’s Nobel Peace Prize recipient “the last nail in the coffin” for the credibility of the Nobel committee. Beck conspiratorially claimed that the award revealed that “these progressives are extraordinarily powerful and this campaign of Barack Obama, this global campaign for Barack Obama is done by global interests that have extraordinary power. They’re very well-connected.” Beck said that the prize should have instead been given “to the Tea Party goers” who have protested Obama:
BECK: Of all things, the Nobel Peace Prize should be turned down by Barack Obama and given — you ready for this, oh this one’s going to make headlines — should be give to the Tea Party goers and the 9-12 Project. … Because of the arrogance of the progressives that thought no one would stand in their way. That he would be able to accomplish everything. Two weeks into his presidency, they nominated him for it and said, “oh this is going to be a slam dunk.” Because of the Tea Party goers and the 9-12 Project people that stood in his way and stopped him from accomplishing the things that he thought, “please, I’m the Messiah, I’ll be able to accomplish that.”
Listen here:
Beck’s radio rival, Rush Limbaugh, was more caustic, telling Newsweek, “The Nobel gang just suicide bombed themselves. Gore, Carter, Obama, soon Bill Clinton. See a pattern here? They are all leftist sell-outs.
SUCK IT, LOSER A**HOLE.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:59 pmWhy do we let this blow-hard have airtime? I know we have the 1st Amendment for a reason, but really? We have people dying to protect this crap? Give me a break.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:00 pmBwaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!
Rodeo Clown indeed.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:00 pmI thought to myself “why bother responding to this post”
It’ll attract trolls, slugs, and plays into Beck’s demented vision.
Got to give him credit. He could have said the award should’ve gone to James Van Brunn.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:01 pm“See a pattern here?”
“Gore, Carter, Obama,…”
Definitely…..
October 9th, 2009 at 2:01 pmThat’s a good idea, Becky. LOL
October 9th, 2009 at 2:01 pmThe angry mob gets Nobel Prize. LOL
The 9-12 Project people?
October 9th, 2009 at 2:01 pmIt’s the Nobel Peace Prize, not the Darwin Award.
So what precisely have the tea baggers stopped Obama from doing? The stimulus passed, reform of at least the insurance side of the health care dilemma looks more promising than it has in decades and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce loses membership every time it makes another unhinged attack on cap and trade. Things aren’t progressing as quickly as I would like but given the damage done over the past few decades by both the Republics and Business Democrats I see at least some positive trends.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:02 pmBeck will get airtime as long as Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch like what he says, unless Rupert’s checkbook runs dry.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:03 pmHuh… so Beck IS a comedian after all…
Who knew?
October 9th, 2009 at 2:03 pmhim crazy stoopid
October 9th, 2009 at 2:04 pmWTF????
WHAT an idiot!
Idiot…Idiot…Sweaty Blob of Idiot.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:05 pmPoor repubes…they are waking to the fact that no one, no one likes them…
Pastcaring: Suck it Chicklet teeth!!
October 9th, 2009 at 2:05 pmIf the award means nothing as the Fascist Republicans claim – why does Beck want it for himself? LOL! ;)
October 9th, 2009 at 2:06 pmBECK: you ready for this, oh this one’s going to make headlines
Tipped his hand there. He doesn’t actually believe in anything he says, he just wants attention. Beck’s trolling reality.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:06 pmBECK: …oh this one’s going to make headlines…
And that’s all you care about Glenn
October 9th, 2009 at 2:06 pmAre these the tea party goers that made threats, carried guns and talked about overthrowing the duly elected democratic government of the United States just because he’s not 100% white? Yeah, that sounds like who should get a “Peace” prize! LOL!
October 9th, 2009 at 2:07 pmSomehow, the theme of a “Peace Prize” doesn’t exactly mesh with the image of screaming racists brandishing Nazi signs while wearing firearms strapped to thighs.
Maybe it’s just me?
October 9th, 2009 at 2:07 pmGore, Carter, Obama, soon Bill Clinton. See a pattern here?
Yes, people that actually do something besides killing and torturing…
…repukes like death and destruction, it’s in their DNA.
And Teabaggers? Give me a break, give it to a bunch of racist ignorant sore losers?
Not a chance.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:08 pmPoor bin. Poor Rush. Poor Teabaggers. Poor Republicans. They built their big tent out of shrinky dink and as the heat is applied it just keeps getting smaller and smaller and they keep getting more shrill as the plastic contracts around them. Their big top will now fit in a bicycle basket.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:10 pm“Beck’s radio rival, Rush Limbaugh, was more caustic, telling Newsweek, “The Nobel gang just suicide bombed themselves. Gore, Carter, Obama, soon Bill Clinton. See a pattern here? They are all leftist sell-outs.”
Rush doesn’t understand that the whole rest of the world, except for a few despotic regimes, is on the left. His ilk is the one that is out of step.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:10 pmBECK: Of all things, the Nobel Peace Prize should be turned down by Barack Obama and given — you ready for this, oh this one’s going to make headlines —
Oops, Becky, you almost gave away the game there. People might start to catch on that what you’re really concerned with is more attention.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:10 pmI would like to nominate Glenn Beck for a Darwin Award. Of course he’d have to shrug of his mortal coil in order to be elligible but I’m sure he’s willing to do it if it gets him some more attention.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:11 pmOh YEAH! The ‘Tea Partiers’ deserve it! LOL! What a bunch of pathetic cry-babies! Well, at least I’ll have a smile on my face this weekend.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:11 pm“Gore, Carter, Obama, soon Bill Clinton. See a pattern here?”
October 9th, 2009 at 2:11 pmYes, they all promote PEACE! It’s called the Nobel PEACE Prize! If it was called the Nobel Warmonger Prize, W would have won it. If it was called the Nobel Racist Prize, Rush would have won it. See the pattern, Rush?
of s/b off
October 9th, 2009 at 2:11 pmAs much as I like the honor that having our President winning the Nobel Peace Prize brings to our nation… I’m having more fun watching the right wing explode and reveal their true colors….
October 9th, 2009 at 2:11 pmOh damn! ELBruce scooped me!
Note to self: read other comments before posting.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:11 pmAnd Glenn Beck should just slit his wrists in a bath of warm water.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:12 pm“The Nobel gang just suicide bombed themselves.”
Says the head of the American Taliban and he should know.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:12 pmI love it – their heads are exploding, and I don’t give a rat’s a$$ about the right-wing blow-hards, trolls, and the 2% of people in this country are complete idiots.
I think Obama getting this award has more to do with how the rest of the world see the U.S. If we left things to the neo-idiots, we would be fighting just about everyone in the world. Just look at John bolton for a good example fo what they want.
I hope glen diclkess, limpballs, insanity, mancoulter, and all the rest of the vermon give themselves a massive stoke while freaking out about this.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:13 pmHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
Oh, that’s just plain hilarious!! The wingies are truly beshitting themselves this morning over that stupid, sissy, gay and French liberal Nobel Prize!!
October 9th, 2009 at 2:14 pmYep, the Nobel Peace Prize to President Obama just brings them trolls and trogs out of the fracking woodwork. I wish someone would slam the damn rock back down when Beck tries to ooze out; can’t stand the smell of that zombie. He is positively vile and decomposing in public. Dog-in-a-manger barely covers him.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:14 pmA question for inquiring minds…do you think the reason they can’t find bin Laden is he is stuck in el Rushbo’s butt crack? And being brought food by the rabid chipmunk of Faux?
October 9th, 2009 at 2:15 pmI love this this. These guys are freaking out. Oh sure, they will go on and on about how undeserving Obama is. But he got it. Now they are saying he should give it away?? Yeah RIGHT!
October 9th, 2009 at 2:15 pmIs this man same?
October 9th, 2009 at 2:17 pmGeorge says – Hehehe, hey now Beckerhead, why didn’t you say that I, the decidering guy should get the piece award? I deserve it more than anyone, look at all the pieces I made of Iraq and that Afganie place? I let those terrorists destroy those towers into little pieces…I tortured those terrorists into little pieces, I should get the….
Dick says – He meant Peace Award moron.
George says – Hehehe, my bad, well I brought peace to the middle ea….nope….then there was the time I…..no….uh, what was the question again?
Dick says – Get me some fresh blood from cute kittens and puppies, moron.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:17 pmLOL The riecht wingers are furious and I couldn’t be more happy about it. Suck on that Glenda. Suck on That OxyRush Limpdick. Suck on that Sean Leatherboy Hannity.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:18 pmkeep digging stupid…
October 9th, 2009 at 2:18 pmSeriously, why do these right-wing rant-jockeys spend so much time obsessing over the President’s Nobel Peace Prize?
They have already made it obvious that they don’t respect the Peace Prize. Why do they spend so much time p*ssing and moaning about it?
October 9th, 2009 at 2:19 pmHere Becky, chew on this . .

October 9th, 2009 at 2:15 pm
Only if they can go back to 2000 and say that then-Gov. Bush should give away the Presidency after it was awarded to him.
Until they can do that, their suggestion is worse than toilet paper. At least toilet paper has a purpose. Cleaning up their suggestion. ;-)
October 9th, 2009 at 2:21 pmGlenn, honey….
It’s the Nobel Peace Prize, not the “Nobel Racist-Morons-with-Misspelled-Signs-Scary-Words-and-Assault-Rifles Prize.”
October 9th, 2009 at 2:22 pmI posted this on erickkk the terrible’s thread below, this is a much more appropriate place.
You teabaggers thought rooting for other countries to hold the Olympics was a good thing, now you fools are foaming out your asses because OUR PRESIDENT OBAMA has won a very high honor at such an early stage in his presidency.
Kinda makes your clown hall meetings look as ridiculous as raygun/chimpy winning a Nobel Peace Prize
The whole world is wrong except the repugs.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:23 pmSSSUUUURRRREEEE.
“Beck: Obama should turn down the Nobel and give it ‘to the Tea Party goers and the 9-12 Project.’”
lol Jealous, jealous, jealous.. Ah, the Beckster is going hog wild over Obama’s Nobel win. This should be entertaining. Beck should just create his own U.S. Wingnut Peace prize award and presented to the Tea Party and call a day. GLenn is always known for staying classy.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:25 pmI am soooooooo sick of this lunatic Beck! Why do we have crazy people hosting radio and TV shows? Can we start a national campaign to commit this guy? We have some great mental hospitals in our area.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:25 pmSound of heads exploding.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:25 pmJust think about it. Gore, Carter, Obama.. and don’t forget Clinton is loved and respected around the World for his charities. And Bush? A big fat nothing. These people seem to forget you have to do something noble to earn it.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:26 pmWHO CARES!!?? Look, I love Think Progress, I don’t know what I would do without it. But it’s amazing how much attention Think Progress gives to Beck and the rest of the rabid right opinionistas. Can’t we ever read here about the good, intelligent things being said in the world?
October 9th, 2009 at 2:26 pm@ 2. USNclerk says: Why do we let this blow-hard have airtime? I know we have the 1st Amendment for a reason, but really? We have people dying to protect this crap? Give me a break. October 9th, 2009 at 2:00 pm
Excellent question, USNclerk, and is worthy of a word or two.
Actually, the First Amendment protects people like Beck from political tyranny by the President, or Congress, or State Executives or Legislatures. You will no doubt have noticed that President Obama is, in fact, not a tyrant; he hasn’t tried to bulldoze the First Amendment by shutting Beck’s stupid yap. All of that crap from Beck about tyranny is just him trying to get his radio and television audience to buy his paranoid conspiracy theories, and purchase his advertiser’s products; he’s pushing gold this week.
He has a microphone because Rupert Murdock, owner of the various Faux enterprises thinks Beck brings eyes and ears to advertisers. It’s a moneymaking proposition. Period. Well, not exactly period – Murdock is reputed to be somewhat to the right of Louis XIV and other notorious reactionaries, so he prefers craxy righty sensationalism instead of loony lefty sensationalism.
Well, I hope that the troops aren’t dying to protect crap; they’re protecting everyone’s right to say what they want about politicians and other idiots and not have the government come down on them for having done. Among other things.
USNclerk? WTF happened to yeomen?
October 9th, 2009 at 2:26 pmI haven’t commented on the Nobel Prize issue yet, so here I go. Obviously a large number of people feel this award is very premature because at this point, and certainly last January, he hadn’t accomplished a whole lot yet towards world peace…etc deserving of this award.
I think it was a given that he would win this award at some point in his life, but at this stage I’m surprised it wasn’t more strongly noted for his contributions to minorities specifically black Americans. Regardless of how I feel about Obama, he is certainly an inspiration to a large amount of minorities in this country and beyond, and that contribution at this stage in his life would seem more deserving of this award than anything else given his short time in office thus far.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:26 pmI think the best reaction I’ve seen today was off someone’s Twitter:
“Yo Barack, I’m really happy for you and imma let you finish, but Morgan Tsvangira was one the most peaceful dudes ever.”
October 9th, 2009 at 2:27 pmGame of Life
My mom used to say “Everyone’s out of step but Johnny” as a way to describe the syndrome you have noticed.
I have been calling the GOP Johnny for some time now when discussing them with my mom, because she knows immediately what I’m talking about.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:27 pmPeace will come when this Piece of Shit Beck finally shuts up.

USNclerk? WTF happened to yeomen?
October 9th, 2009 at 2:30 pmTrue enough, I just really can’t stand the fact that people I know died protecting the people’s right to be this ignorant. America as a whole should be better than this, and it upsets me to continually see the ugliness we permit in the name of profit.
As for my name, yeomen still exist, I am currently a civilian working as a clerk after 5 years in the Navy.
Beck: “…you ready for this, oh this one’s going to make headlines…”
___________________________________________________________
Um…no, it won’t. The only place you make headlines anymore, Glenn, is here at TP and a few other blogsites. Nobody else pays attention to your hateful blather anymore (and it would be refreshing if TP hopped on that bandwagon).
President Obama has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, which is making headlines all over the world. You will never, ever achieve that level in anything you do.

aaronk
For once, I agree with you. My mom and I were talking about this this morning, and I stated that I expected that he would win eventually, if for no other reason than because he is the first black POTUS. I said that the same would be true if Hilary had been President instead….it just makes sense. I was surprised, however, that they gave it to him so early in his presidency.
However, after reading a bit about why they gave it to him, it is true that there are things that he has done already that warrant the award, but really the award seems to be less for him as it is for American itself. We made a big shift when we hired the guy spouting diplomacy over war-mongering, peace talks over dropping bombs, constitutionality instead of torture.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:32 pmI love it. The righties have been whining all year that Obama’s doing too much too fast. Now with this award, they are saying he hasn’t done anything.
Rational though means nothing to these people.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:33 pmOMFG!!! I know most of you already know that when Glenn Beck opens his maw a whole lot of stupid falls out but, this takes the turd he should be swallowing.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:35 pmThis should just about do it for his advertisers, as well as for the rest of the media. Pay no further attention to this sorry excuse for a human being.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:38 pmOval…do you know what genocide is? I ask because you used it in your post as if it was even remotely relevant. I suspect that you don’t know what you’re talking about and threw a scary word in there in case those of us reading it were equally clueless. But I’m giving you a chance to redeem yourself.
Explain how the wars in the Middle East are attempts at genocide.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:38 pmY’know, it would be a whole loot easier to give aaronk credit for a worthwhile post if he hadn’t established himself as such a dick and a troll to this point.

What says you have to stay being a troll? Maybe some enlightenment is happening. I like bashing trolls and all, but with a comment like that, it’s also hard not to hope that it continues.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:44 pmPerplexing, isn’t it, ralph? How can one be so profound one minute and such a d0uche the next?
October 9th, 2009 at 2:45 pmI don’t know if they can be any clearer that their only problem with it is that they don’t like Obama. It’s idealogical differences and nothing else.
Frankly, anyone should win this award if they could even begin to reverse other countries’ opinions of the US… and Obama and friends managed that so far, thank god.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:47 pmholy $hit…I have a post that is voted in positive territory! Whooohoooo
October 9th, 2009 at 2:48 pmWhat’s the deal with these suggestions that he not accept the Nobel Prize? Who would refuse a prestigious and honorary award recognized and repsected globally? Looks like Obama himself thinks he doesn’t deserve to be in that group, but he uses that as motivation to accomplish more.
Reasons someone else deserves it more? OK, but the Nobel Prize is not something you refuse or give away.
He’s been in office for this long without starting another war and keeping us safe, so he deserves it for promoting peace instead of war.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:48 pmThe hole is in the end of a phallic Slappy. The big beck dick cam.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:48 pmginslinger
We all read it and voted it down the first time you posted it. Stop with the repeating posting. You’re a spamming troll, and I’m reporting you for it.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:49 pmActually, aaronk makes more sense than TP posting another Becky thread.
Look, Becky craves headlines. TP is playing right in to his fantasy.
TP (R-DC)
October 9th, 2009 at 2:49 pmI still don’t even know what a troll is, but here is what happened. I started off on here trying to have legitimate conversations, then I took some of the name calling comment to personally and got mad. I then just started playing the same game and trying to basically be a jerk and name call back….etc. I’m back to legitimate conversations now, and I am just going to try to ignore the name-calling posts, because they don’t really do any good being directed at me, or coming from me.
And my post about Obama was legit. I do think that he has done great things for minorities as an example of what can be accomplished, even though I disagree with him on probably 60% to 70% of his ideology. Regarind “peace” though, that is one area where I agree with him in terms of sitting down and having conversations with enemy nations. I think there is no reason not to ever give that a try, but always take what you hear with a grain of salt and don’t be naive in those situations. i support all diplomatic efforts before war!
October 9th, 2009 at 2:54 pmaaronk, when you post something that is indicative of thinking about people as human beings and do so in your own words, you might be surprised more often.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:57 pmaaronk says: Yes see you made a good post, but then your alter ego showed up ginslinger says: and well has hurt your creditably a little,

Maybe… but aaronk showed up here with a fairly moderate veneer that was quickly stripped away. He’s actually proven to be one of the more vile and objectionable trolls here in my opinion.
I don’t buy any conversion theory at all.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:59 pmJellyKelly says:
The 9-12 Project people?
It’s the Nobel Peace Prize, not the Darwin Award.”
If Darwin was alive, he would have to do an extensive rewrite of the theory of evolution. His new theory would be the devolution of man.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:01 pmI’m glad Obama won the award, and I’m glad he’s humble about the award.
I’m also glad that it drove our friends in the wall here even further up the wall.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:02 pm2. USNClerk,
Freedom of speech is Constitutionally protected. However, the broadcast airwaves are a common holding of the US People (so access is as clearly protected).
OTOH – we can’t even deal with having the FCC apply an equal access provision to the airwaves. So I doubt this argument is gonna cancel Rush any time soon.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:02 pmThe dichotomy of trollish posting is interesting. On one hand they denigrate the President for moving too fast, doing too much and then turn around and poke fun because not enough is being done. Messiah, fascist, socialist, ne’er do well.
Maybe its time to take their St’n'Spins away.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:02 pmSit’n'Spins, that is
October 9th, 2009 at 3:03 pmWhile I was surprised that President received the Peace Prize this soon, I’ve gotta ask:
So the wingnuts think we should give the peace prize to crazies who carry assault rifles to public meetinigs ????
Nothing says peace like the threat of killing. (Of course, the American position for years was peace through superior force).
October 9th, 2009 at 3:04 pmThis comment has been voted down. Click to read.
well, the problem is that I labeled myself as a “conservative” on here and I shouldn’t have done that. I am conservative financially, but I part ways with the “Hannity, Limbaugh” conservatism on way more issues than I agree with them on. I think it is funny that I have been labeled a racist on here for claiming myself as a conservative. I have more native American blood than probably this entire board combined…I should hate white people more than anything.
Anyway, I’m sticking around this board, I’m just going to refrain from inflamatory comments, and ignore those directed at me.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:09 pmJimmy Sayre: “Now, some thirty-six years later, the Nobel Committee has awarded its Peace Prize to another lying war criminal, President Obama. He has escalated his war of genocide against the people of Afghanistan who never attacked us.”
Equating Obama with Henry Kissinger? Nonsense. Pure, unadulterated nonsense.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:09 pmGlenn Beck has offered less to humanity than what I just flushed down the toilet. His chaulkboard histrionics is deserving of ridicule and exposed for the ego centric fearmonger that is Beck.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:13 pmSee the problem, aaronk, is that because of your past behavior, I dare say most people on here who know you through your posts, will not believe a word you say because you’ve proven so untrustworthy in the past.
That’s the risk you take when you put forth a public image that isn’t real.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:13 pmNinerfan, taking history lessons from the far right wingers I see.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:14 pmaaronk: “I am conservative financially”
I would think anyone who is really financially conservative would appreciate the fact that over the last 30 years, democrats are consistently more fiscally responsible than Republicans. Republicans have consistently increased the size of federal government and ran up debt.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:15 pmhellinabucket, what are you talking about? Obama is not a war criminal. Comparing him to Kissinger is absurd.
Yes, Kissinger was a war criminal, but the Nobel prize committee didn’t have the benefit of listening to tapes we got years later.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:17 pmbased on what I am reading above, and from some other threads, is it safe to say that the majority of progressives would like to see us out of Afghanistan right now?
October 9th, 2009 at 3:17 pmI’m not really happy with either party’s handling of our economy. There is an assumption that I am all for Republicans and all against Democrats. I would vote for a fiscally conservative social liberal democrat way before a fiscally moderate/liberal socially conservative republican anyday!!!
October 9th, 2009 at 3:20 pmThis is all so wonderfully hillarious!!!
Can’t wait to see Limbaugh and Beck’s heads EXPLODE!!!!!
HA!
October 9th, 2009 at 3:20 pmBeck conspiratorially claimed that the award revealed that “these progressives are extraordinarily powerful
__________
We are?
Then why don’t we have a single-payer health care system yet?
October 9th, 2009 at 3:23 pmI would think anyone who is really financially conservative would appreciate the fact that over the last 30 years, democrats are consistently more fiscally responsible than Republicans. Republicans have consistently increased the size of federal government and ran up debt.
Not only did they increase the size of the government and increase our debt, they were responsible for hamstringing the government they built so that it looked incompetent.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:23 pmsorry Ninerfan, read your post wrong.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:25 pmI’m not really happy with either party’s handling of our economy.
Someone must have been sleeping through the 90’s.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:25 pmThis sums up Beck and the rest of the GOP/RNC nicely!
“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists — the Taliban and Hamas this morning — in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize,” wrote DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse. “Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize — an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride — unless of course you are the Republican Party. The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It’s no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it’s an embarrassing label to claim.“
October 9th, 2009 at 3:27 pmJimmy Sayre: “He has escalated his war of genocide against the people of Afghanistan who never attacked us.”
The Taliban provided safe haven and logistical support for the people who planned and executed a major terrorist attack on our country. Everyone knows that. And “genocide” is the systematic killing of everyone of a specific kind of human. “Genocide” is not what’s going on in Afghanistan.
What the hell are you even talking about? Having said that, I agree that Obama should get the hell out of Afghanistan.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:29 pmNo problem, Hellinabucket. Looking back, I understood how I gave you the wrong impression.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:30 pmaaronk says:
I’m not really happy with either party’s handling of our economy.
But you’re a foolish child – so we’re not surprised.
Every recession of the past century has happened under a Republican President. That speaks for itself.

Assumption or fact? You spew nothing but fascist talking points – why would we assume you aren’t a republican fascist?
aaronk says:
I would vote for a fiscally conservative social liberal democrat way before a fiscally moderate/liberal socially conservative republican anyday!!!
What does “fiscally conservative” mean to you? I’ve found that “conservatives” don’t actually know wtf they’re talking about when they use that term.
Because if you strangle the budget and tank the economy with tax cuts that create deficits, stagnate growth and create a recession as every republican “fiscally conservative” president has done – that is hardly fiscally sound or “conservative” from a logical and rational standpoint.
In my experience you Conservatives – especially you extremist libertarians – are clueless on what is economically or fiscally sound policies. That could explain why you and your policies are responsible for every economic crash of the past century!

October 9th, 2009 at 3:56 pmI’m not sure why everyone is so quick to give Clinton this reputation for a great economy. Yes, much of hte 90’s was roaring to the internet boom, but it also tanked under his watch, and it tanked towards the end, so you can’t blame that on Bush. Here are some facts about the economy under Clinton.
1) The unemployment rate bottomed at 3.8 percent in April 2000, and started deteriorating steadily from there (during the Clinton administration). http://www.bls.gov/cps/cpsatabs.htm
2) The fed funds rate — the overnight interest rate administered by Alan Greenspan and the Federal Reserve — peaked at 6.5 percent in 2000, and had to be lowered in an emergency move on January 3, 2001, “in light of further weakening of sales and production” (during the Clinton administration). http://www.federalreserve.gov/boarddocs/press/general/2001/20010103/
3) GDP growth fell off a cliff in the third quarter of 2000 (during the Clinton administration).http://bigpicture.typepad.com/comments/2004/08/chart_of_the_we.html
I don’t blame the .com bubble burst on Clinton anymore than I give him credit for it’s prosperous times, but the above shows that his economy did tank towards the end. I don’t think Bush handled it any better though.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:58 pmIt is pathetic that the Nobel committee chose to give the Peace price to someone who has done nothing to deserve it. There are far more worthy candidates for the Peace Prize.

President Obama is the only leader to take loose nukes and disarmament seriously – that’s worth all the peace prizes.

WTF??? Can I play this game too?
Beck and Limbaugh should give all their money to Acorn and then join a monestary and take a vow of silence.
October 9th, 2009 at 4:10 pmWhile I think giving President Obama a Peace Prize at this stage is a bit premature (mainly in that he hasn’t done much concrete work in making peace in terms of Iraq, Afghanistan, et al.) and I really do think political leanings had a hand in the decision, because there are many others who richly deserve the award for their work more than Obama does at this particular juncture…
…It’ll be a cold day in hell before I would ever think giving any kind of prize, much less the Nobel Peace Prize, to a a person and group whose only goal is to cause social upheaval and violence because they’re not getting their way on things. And even if there is a cold day in hell I’d try my darndest not to give a prize to them anyhow.
October 9th, 2009 at 4:10 pmGive the Nobel Peace Prize to tea-baggers, who are hate-filled racists that promote violence & the overthrow of a democratically elected government? Yeah, sure, Beck, you moron.
October 9th, 2009 at 4:11 pmI love how winbgnuts are quick to attribute the Clinton economy to the “internet boom” and not to his tax and investment policies.
yes, what was essentially an entirely new industry sprang up during the 90s — home computing — which created millions of new jobs and billions of dollars in exports. But that industry didn’t just spring up out of nowhere. The technology was built on a mixture of publicly-funded research and private entrepreneurship, and the internet itself was born out of a government program.
Moreover, the “tech bubble” drove the Dow from 3400 in 1993 to 11,000 in 2000 — more than tripling its value. The correction (what erronk refers to as “tanking”) still left it at a 225% gain for the eight years. That’s not illusory, not like the housing-bubble-fueled growth that accounted for nearly all of the economic gains during the Bush administration.
The US economy under Clinton was quite a bit more than simply the dot-com bubble, and the wealth creation was shared far more broadly than it was under either Bush, or Reagan, for that matter. But for right-wingers who don’t want to hear that moderate-to-liberal economic policies can produce healthy economies, claiming that Clinton was the benefit of fortunate timing is easier than trying to reconcile the disastrous economic records of the past three Republican presidents, all of whom embraced mainstream Republican economic principles.

Yes, much of hte 90’s was roaring to the internet boom, but it also tanked under his watch, and it tanked towards the end, so you can’t blame that on Bush.
The 90s wasn’t just the internet boom. The economy boomed in most sectors. It didn’t “tank” towards the end, it slowed. The GDP growth rate in 2000 was 4.1%. The tanking happened when Bush took over.
aaronk says:
Here are some facts about the economy under Clinton.
1) The unemployment rate bottomed at 3.8 percent in April 2000, and started deteriorating steadily from there (during the Clinton administration). http://www.bls.gov/cps/cpsatabs.htm
Unemployment only tracks those eligible for benefits – not those that are not employed. Clinton created 22 million new jobs over 8 years.

Yawn. Weakening that turned into disaster under Bush.

aaronk says:
I don’t blame the .com bubble burst on Clinton anymore than I give him credit for it’s prosperous times, but the above shows that his economy did tank towards the end. I don’t think Bush handled it any better though.
Yet the economic collapse that happened under Bush wasn’t related to the .com bubble burst as that had already taken course by the time Bush tanked the economy.
The economy was very strong until Bush destroyed it in 2001/2002.

It is absolutely disgusting to see the unparalled depth of hatred that the right has espoused since his election — a sentiment that is clearly enticing sedition and treason. Why is the Secret Service? The silence from the left in not debunking these lies is truly deafening.

I can definitely see the point you’re making. The left is certainly vocal, but mostly on blogs such as TP. I agree that the so-called liberal media very conveniently portrays only the right’s insanity-ridden spewings. October 9th, 2009 at 4:46 pmTo be fair, the 9/11 attacks had a devastating short-term effect on the economy too.
The problem is that the tax cuts Bush had already pushed through were rapidly depleting the surtplus Clinton had built up — a surplus that was ideally suited to seeing us through a slowdown like the one we experienced in 2001-02.
Of course, Bush then compounded that error by electing to wage not one but two foreign wars (which are always very expensive) without raising taxes to pay for them. He depended on borrowing and encouraged the American consumer to borrow, to the point that the national savings rate was negative (meaning we all spent more than we earned) in 2005 and 2006 — the first time that had happened two years in a row since the depths of the Great Depression.

You mean like this?
It’s no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it’s an embarrassing label to claim.”

Kenneth, you’re making the mistake like a few others have made in thinking that the Peace Prize is all about how successful a country is.
You may see Obama as someone who is weakening America, but the international community is seeing someone who is strengthening it through diplomacy and the desire to help America do its part in environmental issues and nuclear disarmament. This is an international award; if it went to someone whose country was successful economically, then Republicans would be winning this award too.

October 9th, 2009 at 6:31 pmAre you aware that Mark Levine, President of Landmark Legal Foundation, nominated Rush Limbaugh for the Nobel Prize in February 2007? The nomination stated:
“Rush Limbaugh is a nationally syndicated radio talk show host in the United States and one of the most popular broadcasters in the world. His daily radio show is heard on more than 600 radio stations in the United States and around the world. For 18 years he has used his show to become the foremost advocate for freedom and democracy in the world today. Everyday he gives voice to the values of democratic governance, individual opportunity and the just, equal application of the rule of law – and it is fitting the Nobel Committee recognize the power of these ideals to build a truly peaceful world for future generations.”
I was especially intrigued by the
According to William Fisher, this is the same person that said:
On Guantanamo: A picture of religious freedom that “may be a great vacation spot for oppressed Christians in the United States.”
On Aids: “And one of the things that … that the … the AIDS activists said regularly back then was, oh, this is only a matter of time before it spreads to the heterosexual community. It’s only a matter of time. And they used that as – as one of the weapons to try to get people like Reagan to start talking about it from their standpoint. And of course it … it hasn’t. It, it didn’t, and it hasn’t, other than in Africa, and in Africa it is – it is being spread not just by … it … it … it’s promiscuity that … that … that spreads this, if you want to know the truth. It’s promiscuity. But it … it hasn’t made that jump to the heterosexual community.”
On African Americans: “Why should Blacks be heard? They’re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?”
On Choice: “I think this reason why girls don’t do well on multiple choice tests goes all the way back to the Bible, all the way back to Genesis, Adam and Eve. God said, ‘All right, Eve, multiple choice or multiple orgasms, what’s it going to be?’ We all know what was chosen.”
On Citizen Service: “Citizen Service is a repudiation of the principles upon which our country was based. We are all here for ourselves.”
On Condoms: “Condoms only work during the school year.”
On Drug Abuse: “And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up.”
On Earth: “The Earth’s eco-system is not fragile.”
On Feminism: “Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society.”
On Homelessness: “One of the things I want to do before I die is conduct the Homeless Olympics … the 10-meter shopping cart relay, the dumpster dig, and the hop, skip and trip.”
On Prison Abuse in Iraq: “This is no different than what happens at the Skull and Bones initiation and we’re going to ruin people’s lives over it, and we’re going to hamper our military effort, and then we are going to really hammer them because they had a good time. You know, these people are being fired at every day. I’m talking about people having a good time, these people; you ever heard of emotional release? You ever heard of need to blow some steam off?”
On Michael J. Fox’s Support of Embryonic Stem Cell Research: “He is exaggerating the effects of his disease (Parkinson’s). He’s moving all around and shaking and it’s purely an act…. This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn’t take his medication or he’s acting. This is the only time I’ve ever seen Michael J. Fox portray any of the symptoms of the disease he has. He can barely control himself.”
On the NAACP: “The NAACP should have a riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.”
On Nuclear Arms Reduction: “The only way to reduce the number of nuclear weapons is to use them.”
On Sexual Harassment: “Sexual harassment at this work station will not be reported. However, it will be graded!”
On the Rich-Poor Gap: “Don’t let the liberals deceive you into believing that a decade of sustained growth without inflation in America (in the ’80s) resulted in a bigger gap between the haves and the have-nots. Figures compiled by the Congressional Budget Office dispel that myth.”
On the Constitution: “You know why there’s a Second Amendment? In case the government fails to follow the first one.”
And Limbaugh has the audacity to criticize President Obama for being nominated for this prize without him seeking it!

So what is it about the military command structure that you don’t understand, Duke? There are several command layers between the President and General McChrystal that need to be privy to what passes between the two, and it isn’t like President Obama needs to micromanage General McChrystal. Aside from that, he did talk to McChrystal in person while he was on the ground in Copenhagen. The better question is, why, in the preceding few days, while the situation was under review at the White House with SecDef Gates and representation from Central Command and the Joint Chiefs and various and sundry others, was McChrystal tied into the assessment from London via a video conferencing instead of being right there in the room?

True, 1 conversation in 90 days isn’t micromanaging. Afghanistan isn’t a big deal. I have a more pressing need to go on ESPN and fill out my NCAA basketball bracket. Then I will have a beer with a citizen and cop. So my day is full. Nice job, commander-in-chief.

Okay, now. Let me get this straight. The closing for nominations for the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize was somtime during the 1st 2 weeks of Feb. It was for accompliments for peace by people of to that time, most likely during the previous years.
What did Obama do during the few weeks that he was president where he deserved even the nomination? I don’t know. Can somebody please tell me.
I am sure an Olbermann lapdog will give you an answer shortly.

October 9th, 2009 at 7:44 pmDr Venture you ignorant pile of dogshit. Why dont you just STFU and let the adults talk. You are nothing but a wortheless punkass troll
October 9th, 2009 at 7:47 pmThe trollie types have to whine and snipe because the rest of the world is glad the US has a president more interested in the world than bombs. They have to complain because GW never got an award in his 8 years of keeping America safe and Obama got the most prestigious one barely 8 months into his 1st term.
While they whine and complain our President is either doing too much or not enough, the rest of the world is breathing a sigh of relief because the finger on the red button of nuclear launch is now attached to a reasonable sane human being.
October 9th, 2009 at 8:47 pmHey Glenn, tell it to your advertisers…
Or maybe tell it to your unemployment caseworker, because you’re so nuts even Faux won’t keep you around much longer. They can’t afford to, because even more than your vile anti-American rhetoric, they love Money …
October 9th, 2009 at 9:28 pmBECK: Of all things, the Nobel Peace Prize should be turned down by Barack Obama and given — you ready for this, oh this one’s going to make headlines — should be give to the Tea Party goers and the 9-12 Project.
See, now this is what delineates Beck from Obama. Obama accepted the award for ALL Americans. Obama = inclusive, Beck = devisive. Tell me again who has more of America’s interests at heart? I’ll give you a hint: it isn’t Beck.
October 9th, 2009 at 9:32 pmGive it to the teabaggers? They’d only use it as a Frisbee.

Glenn Beck is MUCH more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize than President Obama ;-) Too bad the Nobel committee has never heard of him.
WAHHHHHH WAHHHHHHHH!!!
1. Beck is a terrorist appeaser and incites violence. Why does he deserve a nobel?
2. Obama won’t give up his peace prize to teabagger terrorists.
3. Ypu’re an idiot. STFU! I’m smoking my hookah.

That’s not my point, vent, and you know it. You were pooping around in comment 144 about how President Obama finally talked to General McChrystal after all these months. Ergo, my impression is that you think he ought to be talking to McChrystal a tad more frequently. How much more, vent? Every day? Once a week? What do you think is acceptable?
In my opinion, McChrystal should be talking once or twice a day, perhaps, with General Petraus or his designate at Central Command with a weekly or bi-weekly brief to the Joint Chiefs or their designate. Perhaps every two or three weeks with SecDef and somewhere between once a month to three months with the National Security Adviser and/or the President. That’s just average interval, vent. If things are running hot, maybe a little more often, and if really really hot, perhaps even more frequently. If you get the President on the horn to McChrystal once a week to ten days, he’s effectively micromanaging McChrystal; McChrystal is a pro, he can do his job without the President looking over his shoulder every damn day.
McChrystal’s daily with Petraeus and with laterals in the intel and logistics community are more important to conduct of operations in the theater than anything President Obama can do, apart from Obama telling the people above Petreaus to snap to and keep things rolling.
Does the President need to know what’s going on? Of course he does; that’s why he gets a briefing book every day. He has a much larger picture to look at and understand than just Af-fracking-ghanistan. Yes, Afghanistan is important, no more or less important than Iraq, Somalia, Pakistan, and very probably a dozen other places that the media can’t find on a map. Then there’s all the stuff going on right here at home. So what is it you think he’s doing wrong, or is it you just disagree with him being President?

Chain of command? Wow, you dopes know nothing of military protocol. Guess too many of you sat out of service thanks to butt growths like Limbaugh – eh? No wonder you invade the wrong countries! LOL! ;)
October 10th, 2009 at 2:31 amGlenn Beck you are such an ignorant fool. No wonder I opt to post about your puffery on web pages instead of watching you rabble rouse on your show.
The awarding President Obama the Noble Peace Prize is an indication that the worldwide community is collectively breathing a sigh of relief that the Bush reign of terror has come to an end.
As an American I am proud to have voted for President Obama and am looking forward to a period open communication instead of the factual fabrication and war mongering of the Bush administration.
October 10th, 2009 at 4:10 pmBeck, sweetie, I’m sorry that you didn’t win the Nobel Peace Prize, but stop acting like a sore loser. You are seriously acting like a toddler who didnt get that extra cookie before bedtime, except that you are so much older than they are, so you should know better.
October 10th, 2009 at 8:36 pmWhy did President Obama receive the Nobel Peace Prize? What has he done? Nothing that I know of. What has he done? NOTHING!
Only two other sitting presidents, Theodore Roosevelt in 1906 and Woodrow Wilson in 1919, have been awarded the prestigious Peace Prize. Roosevelt was honored largely for brokering an agreement between Russia and Japan, and Wilson took the award for his role in ending World War I and creating the League of Nations.
President Obama was nominated less then 6 weeks into his presidentsey. All he had time to do was move into the white house!

October 13th, 2009 at 2:52 amPerhaps Beck should work with the Ku Klux Klan to develop a Hate Prize that could be given to a great hater such as Beck. Trouble could develop with such a prize when the committee decided to give it to another great hater, Rush Limbaugh. Perhaps the prize could consist of money ( as much as 10 cents) and the honor of having the Nazi Swastika tattooed on the recipients forehead.
October 13th, 2009 at 9:37 amBecause of the Tea Party goers and the 9-12 Project people that he will find a way to basically turn it down. vajina daraltma
