The Nobel Committee announced early this morning that President Barack Obama has won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.” Obama has “created a new climate in international politics,” the committee said in its announcement, referencing Obama’s agenda to reduce the world’s nuclear stockpiles through international institutions, restart peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians, and build greater alliances with the Muslim world. The announcement was “a stunning surprise,” given that much of the agenda remains a work in progress. “Obama took office less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline,” and he was chosen over 204 other finalists. Thorbjorn Jagland, the chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, said the committee wanted to “enhance Obama’s diplomatic efforts so far rather than reward him for events in the future.” Obama is the third sitting U.S. President to win the award. “Woodrow Wilson was awarded the prize in 1919, after helping to found the League of Nations and shaping the Treatise of Versailles; and Theodore Roosevelt was the recipient in 1906 for his work to negotiate an end to the Russo-Japanese war.” (Jimmy Carter won the award after leaving the presidency, and former Vice President Al Gore won in 2007 for his work on climate change.)
What a coincidence. Over the weekend GWB won a pie eating contest. Switched at birth or what?
October 9th, 2009 at 7:17 am…
For as proud as I am to have Barack Hussein Obama as my President…what the bloody hell.
There were more deserving candidates, candidates who have done more for the cause of peace.
Morgan Tsvangiari, for one.
I think when the President actually has a Rose Garden-like peace deal between Israel and Palestine, when his plan to eliminate nuclear weapons takes shape…then, he’d be worthy.
October 9th, 2009 at 7:17 amThe really interesting part of this is how depressed and angry Fox News and its political department, the Republican party, will be over this. When people compare the reactions of the radical right over the Olympic experience with the Nobel prize a lot of people will get their eyes opened.
October 9th, 2009 at 7:19 amI’m guessing… 5 hours until one of the GOP leadership drops an N-bomb in public.
October 9th, 2009 at 7:20 amI’ve got to say I agree with you EnnuiDivine, but it is a great complement to both him and the direction our nation is going in now. My biggest concern is how the wingnuts will spin this and start comparing him to Jimmy Carter, who dispite his many great accomplishments, they believe was far worse than Georgie.
October 9th, 2009 at 7:20 amOMG the 2%’ers are gonna shiite bricks this morning.
October 9th, 2009 at 7:22 amOh, you can count on it. I get the sneaking suspicion the reactionary right will use this as an excuse to divert attention away from Obama’s domestic policy. And to boycott Sweden.
October 9th, 2009 at 7:23 amCongratulations, Mr. President
_ Myth: The prize is awarded to recognize efforts for peace, human rights and democracy only after they have proven successful.
More often, the prize is awarded to encourage those who receive it to see the effort through, sometimes at critical moments.

Isn’t it amazing how Chimpy McFlightsuit huffed and puffed and strutted around saying “bring em on” and all he got was the wrath of the world against him and the United States. Then along comes an adult willing to turn the other cheek and listen to another point of view on the world stage he gets the Nobel 8 months into his first administration.
Any of the naysayers on our side who complain that they haven’t seen any change they can believe in ought to start believing in this change right now. Peace. What a non-Republican concept.
October 9th, 2009 at 7:39 amPersonally I think its way too early myself.
October 9th, 2009 at 7:43 amI agree there will be hue and cry from the unwashed right against the Noble Committee about this one Fat old white people with one tooth will be in the streets

October 9th, 2009 at 7:56 amI just wondered something. I wonder if next year Keith Olbermann would get the Nobel Peace Prize for helping to expose and hopefully subdue the growing Republican menace in the United States? Maybe he and Rachel could share the award?

October 9th, 2009 at 8:00 amCongratulations, President Obama.
Wonder how Fox News is going to handle this. The teabaggers’ knickers are going to be so knotted as to stop their circulation.
The Europeans really like Barack Obama.
October 9th, 2009 at 8:02 amThis makes 4 US Presidents to win the Peace prize – 3 of them Democrats. And the one Republican to win (Theodore Roosevelt) would probably be called a Democrat were he alive today – he was far more liberal than the most liberal republican currently in Congress or the Senate.
October 9th, 2009 at 8:05 amIt’s great to hear.
I’m waiting for the other side to start the “Obama couldn’t bring the Olympics here, but the egoist can win the Nobel Prize for himself” meme.
October 9th, 2009 at 8:05 amIt is so nice to have a president we can be proud of. It has been a long time. Congratulations.
October 9th, 2009 at 8:07 amWhat’s that? Sounds like fireworks. Oh, it’s just the tea baggers’ heads’ exploding.
October 9th, 2009 at 8:08 amAnother slap in the face to the neocons from the international community. I hope John Bolton chokes on his cornflakes this morning.
October 9th, 2009 at 8:10 amWoodrow Wilson was a Democrat and a terrible one. In today’s world, W. Wilson would be considered a Republican. As for Teddy, my favorite President, he would be called a “Progressive” in today’s world.
October 9th, 2009 at 8:10 amThis shows such much contrast…
The entire world recognizes the efforts and potential of Obama. Yet here at home, a large percentage of our populace still can’t accept the fact that he won the election.
Congratulations, President Obama!
October 9th, 2009 at 8:17 amI just checked out Fox and Red State. Fox had two sentences about President Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Red State didn’t mention it at all. The only thing Red State had as its headline was a piece about Obama’s “Snark Czar”. Now, I have to brush my teeth and scrub my hands.

___________
I wrote something similar in the Coburn thread when I first heard the news this morning. It’s a bit of a back-handed compliment, really. If a U.S. President can win a Nobel Peace Prize for saying “hey, maybe we should listen to the rest of the world once in a while,” it just shows how arrogant and self-centered our country has become.
As for more deserving people, I can think of plenty. NGOs helping rape victims in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Aid groups cleaning up the post-conflict mess in Sri Lanka. Groups rehabilitating child soldiers in Sierra Leone and Uganda. Even the windmill guy from Malawi.
But if the prize is meant as an inspiration rather than a confirmation, I’m all for it and hope it does the job. There’s a lot left to do.
Congratulations, Mr. President. Now earn it.
October 9th, 2009 at 8:26 amOops, make that “so much”, above
October 9th, 2009 at 8:26 amI figured I would beat Glenda Leann Becky to it.
I think it is clear that the Census and ACORN conspired to bribe Nobel officials via tax-sheltered prostitute bribes. It was not hard since all of the officials were Muslim. The Nobel Peace Prize is secretly a Muslim award given to presidents that embolden the enemy.

October 9th, 2009 at 8:36 amYou would think for one day all Americans would be proud to be Americans. Not everything is about left or right politics, and this is good for America.
After eight years of, fear mongering, my way or the highway diplomacy, the rest of the world is starting to look to America as a leader for peace and hope in the world again, and we should as Americans be proud.

____________
You do realize that we’re not ACTUALLY bombing the moon, right?
It’s an impactor, not an explosive. The idea is that it will throw up enough debris from one of the deep south pole craters to determine whether there is ice on our nearest celestial neighbor, which would provide some insight into the formation of the solar system as well as inform later long-term exploration missions.

October 9th, 2009 at 8:58 amOk, this actually makes the most sense to me, i.e that the peace prize is being awarded as a deliberate snub to the last eight years of the Chimperor. I’m an Obama supporter, but he honestly hasn’t done enough in only eight months to warrant a Nobel freaking peace prize.
October 9th, 2009 at 8:58 amWhen Al Gore was nominated for the prize a few years ago, the ‘Wingers made a point to note that Hitler, too, had once been nominated.
Won’t take long for them to bring that up again.
To which we can remind them that Dubya was once nominated as well.
October 9th, 2009 at 8:59 amPresident Obama has returned our nation to a policy of diplomacy and engagement of the rest of the world. Perhaps this award will embolden him and the Congressional Dems to speed up the pace a bit?

October 9th, 2009 at 9:24 amJulie Andrews won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her work in “Mary Poppins” in 1964. While I think everybody can agree Ms. Andrews was (and still is) a marvelous actress, and did a nice job portraying the British nanny, getting an Oscar for some pleasant Disney fluff seemed a bit over the top.
Many believe Academy members voted for her as a slap in the face to Warner Brothers, for their failure to cast Julie in their production of “My Fair Lady” (Audrey Hepburn, who WAS cast, didn’t even get nominated).
Sometimes awards are given for political reasons, even if the recipient is worthy anyway. I suspect this Peace Prize of 2009 has more to do with the world’s collective relief that Bushco has been dethroned than it does with President Obama’s accomplishments in the short time he’s been in office — even though Obama HAS made impressive strides in mending global fences. Even if some may think the award was a bit premature, one should not interpret this as undeserved.
Just as Julie Andrews went on to give many Oscar-worthy performances in her career, I believe President Obama will live up to his status as a Nobel laureate. He’s certainly on his way.
Congratulations, Mr. President!
October 9th, 2009 at 9:28 amThe world thought better of Obama after 12 days as President than Bush for 8 years.

October 9th, 2009 at 9:36 amExcellent start on the long road back from nightmare.
What could be more worthy of acknowledgement than that?
How can anyone say this is undeserved? The world turned it’s back on us for 8 years and now we are once again seen as the leader of the free world with a real statesman at the helm.
October 9th, 2009 at 9:39 amwhat’s sad is that he may very well have received this award because he’s not george w. bush.
i accept that as a possibility. but it also tells me that george w. bush presided over the most incompetent, inept and corrupt administration this country has ever seen.
i would have waited to give it to him after he put them all in jail but oh well, Obama will just have to suffer thru yet another “setback”.
October 9th, 2009 at 9:40 amAlthough this was a troll like statement and meant to disparage the value of the prize, it exemplifies exactly why he deserves the award fool.

If having not truly done anything to advance the cause of peace is the basis for saying that Barack Obama does not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize, then he should give it back . . .
. . . just as soon as Henry Kissinger, Willy Brandt, Kofi Annan, and Yasser Arafat give back theirs.
October 9th, 2009 at 9:54 amyeah, go ahead and pretend that we don’t all already know you’re an asshat
progressives aren’t as gullible as right wingers, we won’t fall for your transparent tactics
October 9th, 2009 at 9:54 amCongratulations, Mr. President.
In an interview with David Gregory this morning, Matt Lauer asked him if he thought the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to President Obama in large part because he isn’t George W. Bush. I nearly spit out my coffee.
While I don’t agree that’s the main reason, President Obama’s leadership is such a refreshing, stark contrast to the agonizing previous 8 years.
Now, with this award comes the implicit responsibility to continue, to be that leader on the world stage, and to be that Hope and Change on which he campaigned

Weren’t the trolls telling us just about a week ago, when Chicago lost the Olympic bid, that the world was already getting disillusioned with Obama? There was even one who insisted he knows that very well because he has family in several countries and is well-traveled. I didn’t bothering replying at the time that the troll and I must have traveled to different countries, because everywhere I’ve been the people generally like President Obama and are especially relieved to see Bush and Cheney gone, Maybe the troll will come back to tell us that Norway was not on his travel agenda.

October 9th, 2009 at 9:55 amI dont necessarily agree with this decision either feel its a little bit premature.
But I also have a feeling Obama will take it the right way and I guess the way its intended. That is to work hard to earn this award through future accomplishments and move even further away from the last 8 years of aggressive warmongering “either you’re with us or against us” type foreign policy.
Congratulations President Obama

Obama deserves the award simply for preventing McCain and Palin from occupying the White House
He prevented an invasion of Iran by winning the election.

What a relief to have someone like “Tundra” here to play the very necessary role of “devil’s advocate” on the issue of Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize.
A good discussion needs something like that – Someone who will explain why it’s not a good thing for a sitting American President to win the Nobel Peace Prize. I mean, why on earth would Americans want to be high-fiving one another over something like that? Especially these days, when we have so damn much to be proud of.
You know, you trolls are ridiculous; everyone knows that. But today, you take lunacy to exciting new heights.

The war on “Islam-O-Fascism” and the demonization of all muslims world wide -in order to take over muslim countries and settle old religious rivalries- polarized the whole world and exposed the white mans new world order.
Obama is just taking steps to put realism back in the game and take racism out. I Don’t know if he’ll succeed because I’m not sure if he’s really in charge. I do know that there is an effort to reach out and build alliances to muslims…
Plus, what can be more important than getting rid of nukes?
I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t have a underground bunker to retreat to when the nuke war pops off lol. The elitist oligarchs have that.
So I would say at the end of the day that this award given to Obama by Euro Oligarchs is legit.
Check out the new Af-Pak/Middle East strategy. I think it will work. Obama puts the G in the Gangster ;o)

October 9th, 2009 at 11:13 amBut I do find that stuff funny
October 9th, 2009 at 11:14 am—
You you also find it funny that the right is rudderless and skipperless and that no one is standing up to rein in the kooks, oddballs and weirdos?
aksarben60, I bet when Bush started his illegal war in Iraq, you were telling all us left leaning folks who disagreed that we should support our President, and be proud of our country. Why is it any different now?
October 9th, 2009 at 11:14 amStupid troll: “Congratulations for WHAT?”
Man, this is just unbelievable. I still remember conservatives coming on to these discussions with hearty “Congratulations” to GW Bush when he stood on that aircraft carrier and declared the Iraq war to be over. And, then, they’d chide liberals around here for implying the celebration was premature.
Now, these fine patriots can’t even muster up the stones to even shut the hell up about a President winning the Nobel Prize. Do you people have any idea how ridiculous you are?
October 9th, 2009 at 11:15 amThis comment has been voted down. Click to read.
aksarben60, you seem confused. The left is the champion of movements to stop racism. The right is, well, not. Not even in the game.
When you project and say the left is racist it reaveals your dark underbelly, you know your racism.
Most racists like you don’t think they are racist. It’s a common denominator.
October 9th, 2009 at 11:16 amWho reins in all the kooks, oddballs and weirdos on the left? Certainly isn’t Obama or Pelosi. Pelosi is the ring leader of the kooks.
October 9th, 2009 at 11:18 am—
When you are in control you need not be so concerned. Tell me who are your leaders?
aksarben: “I just happen to disagree with liberals but that doesn’t make me a racist (which I know you didn’t call me) or a winger. Just different opinions. But I do find that stuff funny.”
And it’s pure coincidence that you have problems with this particular president that you didn’t have with other presidents who just happened to be white men. I understand.
October 9th, 2009 at 11:18 amJust what kooky things define Ms Pelosi?
October 9th, 2009 at 11:19 amI think it’s becoming clearer that the prize was awarded not for Obama’s achievements…but for his inspirational message.
And because the last guy fkd up everything so royally, that what Obama has achieved looks all the more impressive.

My first reaction on hearing the news was that if President Obama had followed, say, President Gore, the world would be saying “OK, he seems smart and reasonable. Let’s see how he does.”
Following the Bush, the world appears to be saying: “He’s smart and reasonable! How can we keep this going?”
My second reaction is simply: Congratulations, M. President!
October 9th, 2009 at 11:21 amYou don’t seem to be able to keep your story straight. Are you a winger and a racist. I believe that you are.

Can you be more specific. What are these kooks doing that needs to be controlled more by the government? Are they blowing up Federal buildings? Storing large amounts of illegal weapons? Are they storming into Unitarian churches and gunning down church-goers? Are they attacking immigrants or burning crosses on peoples’ front lawns.
What, exactly, are you talking about?
October 9th, 2009 at 11:22 amOr Mr. President.

October 9th, 2009 at 11:28 amasskarben: “One thing I have going for me is sincerity. I will not offer a congratulations when I don’t feel it is deserved. That would be insincere. Obama deserved the Presidency and I congratulated him, didn’t like it. I don’t think he deserves this prize.”
It’s kind of sad really. Americans don’t have to dance in the street over something like this. Ideally, an American WOULD feel some pride over our president being honored, but if you’re the kind of American who doesn’t take pleasure in positive things happening for our country, the least you could do is simply keep your opinions to yourself. There’s nothing forcing someone like you to rush to your keyboard and say negative things about an American President winning the Nobel Peace Prize. You somehow need to do it. Very, very strange.
October 9th, 2009 at 11:28 amaksarben60, and you got that out of my post how? The Nobel Peace Prize happens to kind of be a European thing, not an American thing. God are you really that dim?

October 9th, 2009 at 12:29 pmCrazy person: “You don’t thinks it’s highly ironic that a person sending human beings to die in war wins the nobel “peace” prize?”
Others have won in similar circumstances. Wilson comes to mind. He was sending people to die in WWI.
What really is ironic is people who claim to be patriotic Americans making a big stink when, for only the third time in history, a sitting American President is awarded a prestigious international prize. Could these really be the same Americans who accuse liberals of “hating America?!”
October 9th, 2009 at 12:30 pmTundra: “Plenty of links right from this site we could throw up.”

That is you Pat, isn’t it?
Tiny Tim: “Does he really deserve a peace prize? I guess that they only give them out for being a left wing democrat these days.”
If you had enough brains to listen to the people giving out the prize, you might have heard them say that they often give the Peace Prize for things in process as a means of showing support and helping things along. And, if you were not such a small-minded, bitter loser, you might understand that it would be better for you in circumstances like these to just keep your ugly opinion to yourself.
October 9th, 2009 at 12:34 pmTundra: “Plenty of links right from this site we could throw up.”
Odd, I thought that was pretty much all trolls do is throw up on threads. Or is it crap all over them? It is so hard to tell which end is spewing.
October 9th, 2009 at 12:36 pmCrazy person: “No, I would just expect the recipient of a nobel “peace” prize to NOT be sending human geings to die in War.”
Just the kind of shallow, ham-handed analysis we expect from your caliber of poster. And, I believe you’re the guy who says liberals and facts don’t mix or something like that.
OK, brain-trust, since you’re such an upstanding American, I’m sure you can name the wars the two previous sitting presidents who received the award sent Americans to die in. Just because you’re too ignorant to know something doesn’t mean it isn’t relevant.

October 9th, 2009 at 12:39 pmYou really are a funny guy Crazy Pants. Like I said earlier, you were here bashing Obama for not listening to his generals and calling him weak and a coward. Now your here bashing him for listening to his generals and sending in more troops. October 9th, 2009 at 12:44 pmTundra, you are right that a lot of us said somethings about Falwell’s death, so what? What does any of this have to do with this thread? This is just off topic BS.
October 9th, 2009 at 12:47 pmGood Tundra. I’ll give you that one, but you said there were plenty. “Plenty” means a lot more than one, but that’s a good start. In Falwell’s case, I would remind you that he spent the entire 90’s selling a book and video that accused a sitting President of murder, drug trafficking and treason. And, after we were hit on 9-11, he distinguished himself by saying this:
“I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say ‘you helped [9/11] happen.’”
– Jerry Falwell, September 13, 2001, on The 700 Club
So I understand why people were not sad to see him pass.

October 9th, 2009 at 12:59 pmDNC response this morning:
“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists — the Taliban and Hamas this morning — in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize,” wrote DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse. “Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize — an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride — unless of course you are the Republican Party. The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It’s no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it’s an embarrassing label to claim.”
October 9th, 2009 at 1:00 pmI loved Christopher Reeves, it wasn’t intended for him.
Okay. Then the correct analogy is, ‘Doomsday is still alive and kicking.’ or ‘Lex Luthor is still alive and in prison.’

October 9th, 2009 at 1:07 pmSlappy, “turds” and “picnics”? I apologize if I’ve somehow ruined your whole day. Why don’t you go the museum?
October 9th, 2009 at 1:08 pmOK, Tundra. Back in ‘06, some a-hole named “Shamika” said some nasty things about Ford’s death. Very stupid.
Great. So your “plenty” of links has turned into two examples over the last 3 years and I agree with you that it’s in very poor taste to ridicule the dead. Now, do yourself a favor and go look at Free Republic’s discussion in the week following the death of Teddy Kennedy. You might be able to find a few examples of ugliness around here but you and I both know that people like the morons at Free Republic wrote the book on ugly.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:11 pmYou see what I mean? He hates it so much he can’t bear to leave.
And he’ll always come back.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:12 pmThe right is just jealous because the only prize Bush got came from a Cracker Jack box.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:12 pmCrazy person: ““It’s no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore
As opposed to 10% progressive? LOL!”
OK, you really ARE crazy or you’re just plain stupid. Think, young man. The opposite of Republican isn’t “progressive”. It’s “Democrat.” The legitimate comparison would be Republican vs Democrat, not Republican vs. “progressive.”
October 9th, 2009 at 1:14 pmThis comment has been voted down. Click to read.
Congratulations Mr. President. I hope it serves as a reminder to you and the American people that diplomacy and thoughtful dialog are the way of peace, not threats and intimidation.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:18 pmTundra… I’m only responsible for MY posts.
I ask you to be responsible for yours… it’s that whole ‘personal responsibility’ thing, ya know?
Glad you admit that making a joke about Christopher Reeve would be in bad taste… thank you.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:18 pmFred: “I’m telling you the trolls these days are pathetic. It’s just sad that not one of them can carry on a legitimate conversation and make just one valid point. Just one.”
Well, it’s a dead movement. There is no coherent message anymore. There are no William F. Buckley’s anymore. When I was a kid, I really enjoyed him on Firing Line because he was always challenging intellectually. The intellectual conservatives have retreated out of embarrassment over what neoconservatives did to all their cherished philosophies. They raised taxes on most people, increased the size of government and ran up huge deficits and debt. What the hell are they anyway? Certainly not conservatives. Radical corporatists or something like that. There is no consistent message that resonates with the public or that has any logical foundation.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:19 pmThen why are your talking points right out of thier bulletin?
You seem to be about as familiar with the truth as gw bush.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:22 pmThe legitimate comparison would be Republican vs Democrat, not Republican vs. “progressive.”
Boy, these equivalences are really tough today, huh NinerFan?
October 9th, 2009 at 1:23 pmWhen you’re so used to making false ones it’s probably difficult to understand accurate ones…
Crazy: “You’re not a progressive?”
Irrelevant. The statement was that only 20% would admit to being Repubs. You compared that to those admitting to be “progressive.” The more appropriate facts would be polls looking at the approval of both parties.
Latest CBS/NYT poll: Congressional Democrats – 46% approval
Congressional Republicans – 30% approval. Plus, there are far more registered Dems than Repubs these days or hadn’t you noticed.
As far as your irrelevant question? I’m a liberal Democrat and I’d like to think of myself as a pragmatic progressive. There you go.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:27 pm288 wasn’t clear, NinerFan… I was wondering at CrazyLegs inability to understand an accurate equivalent to ‘Republican’ not yours…
October 9th, 2009 at 1:29 pmbelaccifer lacca: “Boy, these equivalences are really tough today, huh NinerFan?”
Right. Again, I think we’re dealing with children or adults with the minds of children which is probably worse. But, I always feel like if I really am dealing with a kid, he deserves to at least get some information even if he’s going to ignore it or pretend not to notice it.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:30 pmThat is an excellent bit of news. It took me a couple of minutes to grasp it when I first heard it; didn’t think the world was being punked (heard it on NPR) but thought WTF?, isn’t it really kind of early?
And it’s even better for drawing the trolls out, isn’t it? I haven’t looked at this thread yet, but I’ve seen some wheezing and whining and overreaction on a couple of others.
Yay, you go, President Obama…
October 9th, 2009 at 1:31 pmNo worries, belaccifer, I took it that way.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:32 pmIt’s a wonderful “tip of the hat” to America and the direction we’re heading. The Nobel committee made it clear that this year the Peace Prize is thought of as something for a process happening now as opposed to recognition for something that happened in the past as it often is. This is perfectly consistent with things they’ve done in the past.
As far as American conservatives are concerned, they just can’t go a week anymore without stepping on their own private parts. One week they’re cheering because we lost. The next week their complaining because we won. They’ve completely lost it.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:35 pmCrazy Legs says:
Wanna comapre conservative to progressive? ;) 10%!
Since we’re way, way off topic Crazy… can you compare Fox’s argument that they have the first amendment right to lie to a reasonable and honorable position?
They seem diametrically opposed to me and you never did answer when you were Pat Pomeroy… thanks…
October 9th, 2009 at 1:37 pmDo you never tire of making a fool of yourself?
October 9th, 2009 at 1:38 pmCrazy Legs says:
Wanna comapre conservative to progressive? ;) 10%!
Sure Jeffy Bovine, since you got nothing!
Approximately two-thirds of Americans—reaching to 70 percent to 80 percent on some measures—agree with progressive ideas in each of these domestic and global areas
Wanna compare progressive to libertarian? ;) 2%! LOL!
October 9th, 2009 at 1:38 pmCrazy Legs says:
October 9th, 2009 at 1:41 pmYou’re not a fascist?
Crazy Legs says:
October 9th, 2009 at 1:41 pmProject much, patsy?
Crazy Legs says:
No, I would just expect the recipient of a nobel “peace” prize to NOT be sending human geings to die in War. Then again yasir arrafat was a recipient.;)
So then Bush was lying when he claimed we were going there to bring peace? LOL!
Yasser Arafat won along with Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres, who together negotiated the Oslo Peace accords. Yeah, there’s nothing “peaceful” or “big” about that! LOL!
Jeffy, stick to saying stupid one liners. This just makes you look like a red state reject! ;)
October 9th, 2009 at 1:44 pmFor those interested, american progress did a great study on Americans and their values here:
http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2009/03/pdf/political_ideology.pdf
Turns out most Americans are progressive, they just don’t know it! ;)
October 9th, 2009 at 1:45 pmCongratulations Obama! ;)

October 9th, 2009 at 1:47 pmGeorge Bush killed how many people?
@ 2. EnnuiDivine says: For as proud as I am to have Barack Hussein Obama as my President…what the bloody hell. There were more deserving candidates, candidates who have done more for the cause of peace. Morgan Tsvangiari, for one. … October 9th, 2009 at 7:17 am
That’s a point well taken, EnnuiD. I hope that PM Tsvangiari is successful and he survives the delicate attentions of Robert Mugabe and does get the Peace Prize; he’s certainly deserving.
On the other hand, just getting our great nation out of the stupid ditch that Bush drove it into and moving on several diplomatic initiatives that had been hanging, getting our great nation back to the table, and in pretty damned short order is worthy.
@ 5. WaltB says: I’ve got to say I agree with you EnnuiDivine, but it is a great complement to both him and the direction our nation is going in now. My biggest concern is how the wingnuts will spin this and start comparing him to Jimmy Carter, who dispite his many great accomplishments, they believe was far worse than Georgie.
October 9th, 2009 at 7:20 am
I think Jimmy Carter is one of the most seriously underrated modern presidents. He did more than he is given credit for and he did one thing that is persistently ignored; he did NOT take the country to war when he was blindsided by the Iran hostage incident and even better, he didn’t do something stupid after the failure of the hostage rescue mission (although he might have been better advised to have NOT signed off on that – even had the rescue team succeeded in reaching Tehran and the hostages, I don’t think it’s at all clear that they would have gotten back out again).
Thank Gawd we now have George Dubya “Shrub” Boosh, who can in no way be misunderestimated as an ex-President.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:48 pmCrazy Legs says:
You don’t thinks it’s highly ironic that a person sending human beings to die in war wins the nobel “peace” prize?
So republicans lied about this being a mission of international “Peace”? LOL! ;)

FOX News needs the right to lie why?

I don’t think your legs are the craziest part of you.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:50 pmCrazy Legs says:
George Bush didn’t get the nobel “peace” prize, rhf. Yassir did. See the difference? Get off the crack.
Because George Bush didn’t negotiate a major peace deal, and went to war with a country that didn’t attack us? Meth heads should stick to humping their dogs… ;)
October 9th, 2009 at 1:50 pmCrazy Legs says:
The difference is that the Judges awarded Yassir the prize and not W… Why does Fox NEED a ‘right’ to broadcast lies?
October 9th, 2009 at 1:51 pmWho are you calling rhf? I’m rhf.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:51 pmCrazy Legs says:
Do you see how foolish you look, rhf?
Does everyone see how pathetic jeffy bovine the patsy is? No matter how foolish she looks, she ignores the facts and keeps on making a fool of hers! LOL! Gotta love a meth rattled martyr! ;)
October 9th, 2009 at 1:52 pmFred says:
Who are you calling rhf? I’m rhf.
Everyone is “rhf” in the meth addled brain of the stalking jeffy bovine! ;)
October 9th, 2009 at 1:52 pmThanks for admitting that the GOP fascism wasn’t about peace jeffy! That was almost adult of you! ;)
October 9th, 2009 at 1:53 pmCrazy: “Yasser Arafat killed how many people?”
On his worst day, Arafat couldn’t hold a candle to GW Bush.
1 million Iraqis
over 4,000 American soldiers
over 30,000 injured American soldiers
An arc of power for Shiites across the Middle East
All built on lies and distortions. None supported by any evidence or facts of any kind.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:54 pmCrazy Legs says:
No, just you.
You go nothing. Next?
October 9th, 2009 at 1:56 pmCrazy Legs says:
Are getting your numbers from that fat pig that used to be on tv?
Rush isn’t on TV anymore! ;)
October 9th, 2009 at 1:57 pmHey stupid! You don’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for starting a war of choice on false premises.
You don’t get a Peace Prize for sending arms to terrorists in Central America and Iran. You don’t get the Prize for supporting Saddam Hussein.
Bush and Reagan didn’t deserve a Nobel Peace Prize.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:57 pmAlthough Beck has been porking up! Guess he’s like Jeffy Bovine and never heard that gluttony is a sin! ;)
October 9th, 2009 at 1:57 pmCrazy Legs says:
NinerFan says:
Are getting your numbers from that fat pig that used to be on tv?
Well, hopefully not from FOX… you know that they argued and won the legal right to broadcast LIES?
Weird.
October 9th, 2009 at 1:58 pmPrizes go to the winners in this world. Obama got the prize – nominations for Nobel Peace closed ten days after his inauguration – because he won the election and closed a particularly terrible chapter in the United States’ relations with the world.
I bet if those complaining lived, worked and organized abroad, as I do, you’d see an ugly chapter definitively closed and a new one opened. Even Hugo Chavez – in his recent UN appearance – while criticizing the “two Obamas” added that “it no longer smells like sulfur here. It smells like hope.”
The problem with so many Americans of right and left is you can’t see yourselves from outside of yourselves. It’s a very insular society in that way. I would encourage more of you to get out of the “house” more!
October 9th, 2009 at 1:59 pmCrazy Legs says:
ninerfan must be using rosie for his “source.”
Thank goodness NinerFan isn’t using FOX!
Did you know that they needed the legal right to knowingly lie?
October 9th, 2009 at 2:00 pmCrazy Legs says:
ninerfan must be using rosie for his “source.”
We thought that’s what you called your hand – but it sounds more like red faced Beck. The guy who said publicly he didn’t need to fact check because his show was “opinion” and not news! LOL! ;)
October 9th, 2009 at 2:01 pmCrazy Legs says:
Because he knows obama will let him align himself with a-jad and go nuke.
Yeah, the “communist” is going to align himself with a “right wing fascist” religious nutjob! LOL! No, that sounds more like an alliance Bush would have made – if his NeoCons weren’t so afraid for their motherland! ;)
October 9th, 2009 at 2:02 pmCrazy Legs says:
“it no longer smells like sulfur here. It smells like hope.”
Because he knows obama will let him align himself with a-jad and go nuke.
Did you hear that on FOX?
Could be a lie, they have the right to broadcast lies, you know?
October 9th, 2009 at 2:03 pmHave you always been a fascist – Crazy?
October 9th, 2009 at 2:03 pmDo you see how foolish and unamerican you look Crazy? To be so unpatriotic to your country and your commander in chief? Were you always a thankless traitor?
October 9th, 2009 at 2:04 pmCrazy Legs says:
Boy, nothing to say about FOX’s right to lie defense?
I thought you were made of sterner stuff, Pat Pomeroy.
October 9th, 2009 at 2:08 pmCrazy Legs says:

Of you “getting any”? Nope! Not unless you pay for it like Fascists must! ;)
October 9th, 2009 at 2:08 pmCrazy Legs says:
You mean like you and your co-whores rooted against Bush and our soldiers and rooted for the terorists?
You got nothing, so you make crap up to justify your hypocrisy, terrorism and anti-americanism… It’s all you pat!
October 9th, 2009 at 2:11 pmGet a job pat, your “lazy fascism” is boring…
October 9th, 2009 at 2:11 pmJeffy Bovine – pat – thinks everyone is a traitor like she is. Classing Fascist projection… ZZZzz…
October 9th, 2009 at 2:13 pmCrazy Legs says:
Have you always been a fascist like obama, reid and pelosi?
Fascists are right wingers. While Obama and Reid in particular are further to the right than I want – all three would be put to death by a “fascist” like yourself given the chance. And we both know it – my little white power hitler youth! ;)
October 9th, 2009 at 2:22 pmThe only people so far condemning this are the Taliban, Hamas and the GOP. You’re in great company with your co-fascists Crazy Legs Pat! LOL! ;)
October 9th, 2009 at 2:29 pmTry your luck here, Johnny Dollars Place. Not that you would because we both know you’re a flaming coward…..We’ll see how far your “right to lie” spew get’s ya. ;)
So your answer is no? You have no opinion about their defense?
October 9th, 2009 at 2:31 pm“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists — the Taliban and Hamas this morning — in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize,” wrote DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse.
Sums it up nicely!
October 9th, 2009 at 2:34 pmCrazy Legs says:
Try your luck here, Johnny Dollars Place. Not that you would because we both know you’re a flaming coward…..We’ll see how far your “right to lie” spew get’s ya. ;)
No one cares what you think – traitor! Go join the Afghan Taliban where you belong!
October 9th, 2009 at 2:34 pmIt is messed up that Obama, the commander of possibly the most violent empires in history, won a prestigous peace award for doing little more than not being President Bush. This award is a testament to how much damage all the American war-mongerers have done to the world, and how much the world appreciates the new tone coming from our capital. Don’t see how this hurts Obama, though the right wing wants desperately to convince themselves that it does. However the prize itself is diminished in that it can’t be taken back by the commitee, and Obama can use it to claim America is now accepted by the world as peaceful “peacekeepers” (a fallacy thought that turns my stomach). If he was as smart as I thought he was he would accept in honor of of American Service members, he could even draw up some type of service medal to award everyone.

Coward? That’s funny…
October 9th, 2009 at 2:45 pmCrazy Legs says:
Scared shitless of Johnny Dollar, lucifer?
No, but I see no reason to go to his site… I was talking to YOU on this one… can you answer me?

Project much – Taliban traitor?
October 9th, 2009 at 3:22 pmCrazy Legs says:
Indeed! His whole platform was “Bush is bad!”
LOL! Project much? You’re confused again with Palin’s attacks on “Obama is bad”. Then again, a racist like you has no choice but to side with terrorist groups like Hamas and the Taliban when attacking Obama! ;)
October 9th, 2009 at 3:23 pmWonderful. I may not feel 100% convinced that Obama deserves it, but I’ll say one thing about the Peace Prize.
It does wonders for driving some of the conservatives here nuts.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:31 pmHe just craves attention. You gotta pity the fool.
October 9th, 2009 at 3:31 pmSorry Crazy Legs. I got a little tied up post lunch. So where shall we pick up? Would you like to see if you can muster a walk around the block today? I think you can make it. That hardest step is the one that takes you out the door. After that, they each get a little easier…
October 9th, 2009 at 3:43 pmAh, the wingnut talking heads are melting down and it’s turning into a “cat fight” over who’s “more gay”! LOL!
Joe Scarborough Acting Like A “Neutered, Chickified Moderate” – Rush Limbaugh
Limbaugh Put His “Testicles In A Blind Trust” For Bush – Joe Scarborough
October 9th, 2009 at 3:44 pmLimbaugh just comes out and sides with the enemy: “Something has happened here that we all agree with the Taliban and Iran about and that is he doesn’t deserve the award.”
The domestic american hating terrorists strike again.

October 9th, 2009 at 5:33 pmCongratulations to Pres. Obama. He acknowleged that there were others more deserving but he accepted on behalf of the country. He is a class act.His detractors could learn something positive from him.We are lucky to have him as president.
October 9th, 2009 at 5:44 pmThe announcement was “a stunning surprise,” given that much of the agenda remains a work in progress. “Obama took office less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline,” and he was chosen over 204 other finalists.
Not exactly what the Prez needs with the huge decision on the war in Afghanistan looming over his head. Peace or War? War or Peace? In private, it has to be: “thanks for nothing, Oslo”.
October 9th, 2009 at 5:51 pmRush Limbaugh wants Pres. Obama to fail. Now Mr. Limbaugh sides with the Taliban. He is the head of the republican party.Apparently, the party now stands shoulder to shoulder with the Taliban and those who would see us fail.
October 9th, 2009 at 5:51 pmTracy___5 says:
It’s all about the INTENTIONS rather than the RESULTS….how typically liberal.
Just like the WAR on Poverty over the last 44 years. How has that one gone? How many billions in taxpayer money was wasted on that battle?
October 9th, 2009 at 5:53 pmCongratulations, Mr. Obama!
On a related note, I’m trying to remember the last time a Republican won a Nobel….it’s been awhile, hasn’t it? :D
October 9th, 2009 at 6:08 pmTracy… let it go.
Obama had nothing to do with the nomination. Obama had nothing to do with the selection process. You issue is with the Norwegians… take it up with them.
October 9th, 2009 at 6:20 pmObama was humble in accepting the award and even suggested that he didn’t deserve the award, yet he’s still perceived as egotistical?
It’s a political Oscar. Frankly, I don’t know anyone who would turn it down.
Just say it’s an international slap to George W. Bush’s face and let it go. The right-wing pundits will forget about it next week while they attack his health care bill.
October 9th, 2009 at 6:25 pmTracist, I can see you’ve joined the rest of the “classless” GOP in siding with the Taliban and Iran… How “predictable”…
October 9th, 2009 at 6:38 pmTracy___5 says:
If Obama really had any class
Another racist comment. Just go join the Afghan taliban you racist thug…
October 9th, 2009 at 6:39 pmWho really cares what Tracey thinks, except Tracey.Tracey never liked Mr. Obama from the start and no matter what he achieves It will never be enough.Palin sounds like your type of person.
October 9th, 2009 at 9:27 pmPresident Obama has shown remarkable class. It’s an honor to receive the Nobel Peace Prize and it’s something he wasn’t actively pursuing. All the false outrage tells more about those screaming than our President.
Congratulations President Obama.
October 10th, 2009 at 12:48 amPeace prize, huh?
We’re still in Afghanistan.
We’re still in Iraq.
Gitmo’s open for business.
We’re still using rendition.
Not much peace and love going on with that list. Maybe he should have turned the thing down.
