Rahm and Axelrod tell media: Don’t let Fox News influence your coverage.

Appearing on separate Sunday political talk shows, two key Obama advisers — David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel — were asked about the White House’s recent verbal attacks against Fox News. Both advisers made the point that Fox is not a legitimate news outlet, but rather a network with a biased perspective. And the advisers emphasized that traditional news media should not let themselves be swayed by Fox’s opinion coverage:

AXELROD: The bigger thing is other news organizations like yours [ABC News] ought not to treat them that way, and we’re not going to treat them that way.

EMANUEL: And more importantly, is not have the CNNs and the others in the world basically be led and following Fox, as if what they’re trying to do is a legitimate news organization.

EMANUEL: And more importantly, is not have the CNNs and the others in the world basically be led and following Fox, as if what they’re trying to do is a legitimate news organization.

In other words. Don’t be Foxsuckers.

  2. Pilotshark says:

Well guessing can not get three bigger positions in the administration on fox non news.

this is sorely needed and has been for a long time.

  3. Levi the Oracle says:

This is all well and good, but it has no teeth. It is time to start pressing charges of sedition against Fox News propagandists and the FCC needs to yank Fox News’ broadcasting license.

  4. Nat says:

No Democrat should be treating FOX “News” as though it’s a legitimate news organization. They’re the propaganda arm of the republican party and they should be treated as such.

  5. Shayne says:

Now we need to have some legislation that stops a broadcaster from calling itself “news” while telling outright lies and selling propaganda.

  6. Levi the Oracle says:

I disagree Nat. Fox News is the propaganda arm of an organized crime syndicate, which also has a political arm, knows as the Republican Party.

Sorry to be OT, but this IS about Fox host, Ben Gleck, from a clever kid:

  8. Marie says:

Glad to see the White House recognizes the danger of Fox News and calls upon legitimate news organizations to not give them validity.
This is long overdue — Fox has a stranglehold on the news, and it is going to be very hard to marginalize them, no matter how much they deserve to be marginalized.

  9. dasm says:

This is great. Hannity, Beck, O’Reilly, all those Fox “experts”, etc. should be called on their blatant lies & smears each time they spew them. The other media outlets should be leading this, pointing out the lies, racism, &/or sexism, etc. that is on Fox every day. Fox is full of venom & hatred, & should never be called “news”. What other outlet screams at guests & cuts off their microphones?

  10. Purple State says:

Here’s how we ought to be treating things; a “news” organization should not adopt only one side of the argument, as Fox News constantly does. It should provide information on the world from the perspective of a third party. I find the big three networks and CNN handle that pretty well, while Fox constantly has to defend their one-sided views.

Yes, the opposition will likely point the finger at MSNBC, much like Bush 41 did the other day, and I encourage them to stay impartial as well. I don’t like how they sometimes bring in the other side and adopt the counter-argument right away, but I consider them to be more honest than Fox News. More importantly, I don’t consider MSNBC to be a “news” channel in the first place.

Besides, NBC already has an impartial network. It’s called “NBC”.

    Marie@7

Thanks for sharing that. That kid has more talent then Beck does.

  12. tom says:

No matter what, though, you have to be amused by the delicious irony on “FoxSnooze Sunday” this morning.

Little Chrissy Wallace pisses and moans about how unfairly Fox is being attacked by the White House. And there’s KKKarl RoverBoy taking his side and calling the White House “undignified”. RoverBoy? The crook who politicized the DOJ and GAO in pursuit of a permanent republican majority? The crook known as “The Architect” and “Bush’s Brain” who served in the most “undigified” administration in history? That crook is calling the Obama administration “undignified”?

FoxSnooze isn’t news. Well, duh! It isn’t even good “opinion journalism”. It’s a total parody of itself and now it’s playing the “victim card” just like Limpballs is.

  13. Wiz says:

There is little downside on the pushback against Fox, they can whine, but they can’t make their criticism any worse than it already is. If a Democrat goes on Fox, they should begin each of their interviews with “If you were really fair and balanced….” or “if Fox was a News organization…”.

    OT: From my inbox:

    Meet Melanie Shouse.

A few years ago, Melanie was living the American dream when she transformed an old Domino’s storefront into an expansion of her home business. But just as the store was opening, Melanie was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer and told she had only months to live.

Melanie had insurance, and she went straight to the experts at Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis. Working with the world-renowned doctors there, she’s beaten the odds and stayed healthy for years. But now her insurance company, a subsidiary of WellPoint, is refusing to pay for the medication her doctors recommend.

Now, meet Wellpoint CEO Angela Braly.

She makes almost $10 million a year in salary and stock benefits, and then defends dropping people’s insurance when they get sick. Next week, Angela will be in Washington, D.C. attending a convention of the biggest insurance company executives in America. This conference is a great opportunity to confront insurance company CEOs who deny care to increase profits.

That’s why Melanie Shouse will be there. Isn’t it time that insurance company CEOs come face to face with those Americans who’ve been denied care? Melanie thinks so, and that why we’re joining our friends at TrueMajority Action and standing with her. Please add your name to their petition of support right now.

SIGN TRUE MAJORITY’S STATEMENT OF SUPPORT NOW

TrueMajority has been keeping the pressure on Wellpoint’s Angela Braly and other insurance company CEOs for weeks now. They’ve banged on the doors of their mansions, run ads on TV, and held rallies in front of the offices of three of the biggest insurance companies in America. These companies — Cigna, WellPoint and UnitedHealth — insure millions of people, and then make massive profits by finding loopholes and denying care.

They aren’t interested in helping the sick. They have CEO bonuses to pay and shareholders to make happy.

That’s why, next week when all three companies’ CEOs will be in D.C. to congratulate themselves on making record-breaking salaries while demanding members of Congress oppose the choice of a public option, Melanie won’t let their visit go unchallenged.

It’s up to us to support Melanie and arm her with the strength of thousands of Americans standing with her.

    PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME TODAY

Sign today and we’ll make sure your signature is delivered to Wellpoint, Cigna, UnitedHealth and members of Congress next week.

Thank you for everything you do.

    Levi,

I like the sedition angle but ClusterFox does not have or need an FCC broadcasting license, they are on cable. Their local affiliates could have their FCC broadcasting licenses ripped away if the people complain in those markets.

I ask them if they believe the lies that beck tells such as the birther, racist, etc. and of course while looking you in the eye they can’t go along with that.

  44. Trollspotter says:

I think it’s great that Fox News is doing as well as they are. The better they do, the worse things are for Republicans.

The ascendancy of a charismatic black Democrat has driven frightened, paranoid, enraged, nativist zealots into the ideological embrace of an outlet that habitually reconfirms everything they already believe.

Unfortunately for Republicans and fortunately for Roger Ailes, a feedback loop has been created: As disaffected conservatives turn increasingly to Fox News, Fox News caters its programming to keep them coming back, turning, for instance, the Tea Parties into a daylong televised festival of rage. But given Fox’s well-earned brand identification with the Republican Party, and vice versa, that programming serves to promote a view of Republicans as angry white people who hate Puerto Rican judges. Which turns off independent voters, which further isolates the diehard rejectionist wing of the party, which increases the importance of Fox News in their lives as a reassuring voice telling them to be strong in the face of the barbarian hordes—or, as Glenn Beck puts it, “We surround them.”

The more viewers Fox attracts, the more voters the GOP repels. And the more voters the GOP repels, the more viewers Fox attracts.

Fox always claims to have such a high number of viewers. There are so many other stations to watch so using just the numbers from Fox is deceptive because viewership is spread out among other stations. Not everyone is consumed with “news and views”. Frankly, CNN is pretty dry and lacks the fire & brimstone entertainment value of FauxNews and it has the advantage of putting all the nut job wingers on the same channel.

Hi, gummble, I pretty much agree with most of your observation, hence the ellipsis (…), but as for dry, I gotta say that ol’ Woof Bleetzer was right on top of the balloon boy (not) story the other day. He had CNN right in there in the pack, full of mopey hysteria and total fracking confusion.

Now that we’re completely OT, I suppose what you have to do to get the straight story is tune in to C-SPAN. That will at least get you what the pols will actually go on the record with, as contrasted to the weaseling when they get ambushed in a hallway or corridor somewhere under the Capitol. And the Flatulent News pundits and poltroons can’t be trusted with as much as a “the” or an “a” without lying or misrepresenting something, which may or may not have any basis in reality.

Which brings us back to Rahm and Axelrod. At the moment, I certainly am more willing to assume that their spin reflects the way we’re going than anything Flatulent puts out there.

  107. Bothered says:

I’m surprised there hasn’t been more talk about the fact that FOX “news” misled a nation and called the 2000 presidential election for George W. Bush. On election night CNN (Judy Woodruff), CBS (Dan Rather), and NBC (Tom Brokaw) had already called it for Al Gore, but backed off when FOX (Brit Hume) later called it for Bush. Where did Fox get its information? John Ellis was in charge of the decision desk at FOX and called it for Bush. John Ellis lied and said that Bush won Florida (where Bush’s brother Jeb was governor). John Ellis was George W. Bush’s first cousin. Jeff Toobin, the CNN consultant, later declared on national television that: “If there was a state wide recount, under every scenario, Gore won the election.”

    So much for free speech.

I have a saying, the truth does not need to be afraid of the lie, but the lie fears the truth. This is why Christianity is not allowed to be preached in many non-Christian countries. In the united States, which was founded by Christians who had the Truth, the founders did not fear lies, respected the God given Right of free speech and put in the 1st Amendment.

The tendency of Liberals to shout down and prohibit conservative speech, tells me that they are aware, on some level, that they are wrong.

Who is prohibiting any speech? Has someone determined to shut down FoxNews? Really? I must have missed that. I thought it was simply that Democrats have finally worked out that no good comes of them giving credibility to a propaganda network.

And, seriously, it’s time for you to crack a book. The Founders as a group were NOT Christians, but instead included a number of deists. They also went out of their way to ensure that this was not a “Christian” country. And thank God they did.

I once had a fundie explain to me that God had created the entire Universe for one single purpose: to awe Mankind. This was actually part of his explanation refuting the concept of life on other planets — there’s nothing out there but a very fancy lightshow intended to get humans on board with the whole worshipping God thing.

He refused to consider that this sheds a very poor light on his god — a god so insecure that he has to create an entire universe just to get a little love. And a god so unimaginative that this planet and its pitiful selection of plants and animals is it, total, everything.

Many great Christian scientists of the past, believed that the world could be understood by logical rational study, because the logical rational God of the bible had created it. Science was born out of Christianity.

Being a proud atheist, I usually try to steer clear of criticizing someone’s religious beliefs, no matter how much more misguided than average they may be. But this whole idea that Jesus Christ and his father, God, were one and the same person is absolutely preposterous, and something only an idiot would truly believe. And no, I don’t say that merely because I don’t understand it, I say it because it’s a fact. You are literally believing the Impossible and claiming it as Truth.

Also, I’m pretty sure the construction of the Great Pyramids pre-dated the existence of Jesus on Earth. Science, therefore, pre-dated the one you claim inspired it.

P.S. The “God of the bible” was neither logical nor rational.

“BTW – I’ve been flagging minutemann for baiting. I recommend others do too. He’s constantly making statements that will ultimately lead to nothing more than off-topic derailment because everyone needs to correct him so much – particularly on his history, religious information, definitions, and his “proof” of…well, who the hell knows.”

I do not want to be rude. I have got better things to do then wate my time agitating people here. I actually am here to learn and teach. I supposed that all of the snide comments were just a form of fellowship, like the ribbing you get from people in New Jersey.

I think you have a good point about being off topic. In the first post I commented on, I did ask what a progressive was because I am curious who progressives they are. I don’t want to just reley on Conservatives for this information, even though they are very reliable sources. I would rather ask these questions on a forum where I can start topics and get questions answered.

In this post, the attack by the White House and other Democrat media outlets like CNN is a first amenmdment issue, and right on topic for this thread. There has been a Christianity spin off. I was just using Christianity as an example. Free speech and religion go hand in hand, that’s why ththey are both mentioned in the 1st Amendment. Other people made it the main topic of their post, I just responded.

My first post in this thread challenged the assumption that Fox news is wrong by reason of being in the minority. I think Fox news is fair and balanced. and most of the other big media outlets are basically Democrat propaganda machines. I am either right or wrong about this, but the issue has not been discussed in this thread long enough to ferret out the truth.

If you guys just want to preach to the choir here, and don’t want to have your assumptions challenged, I will leave you alone. Warning, not being willing to consider that you might be wrong, will lock you into being wrong about anything you happen to be wrong about.

    Questions:
Does anybody here know of a good Left Wing forum where people like to do some critical thinking, challenge assumptions, discuss issues from both sides?

Is there anybody here who is interested enough, and brave enough to say that they would like me to stay so that we might learn from each other?

If not, have a nice day.

  156. Levi the Oracle says:

    Minuteman,

You can find critical thinking here, but rarely from any Republicans. I would like you to stay, because you have so much to learn. I personally doubt you are willing to learn, because, as a Christian, you put belief over truth.

You stated you think Fox News is fair and balanced. That means you are delusional and probably need to be interred in a re-education gulag. When you talk about “Democrat propaganda” you show you are wingnut partisan because the term would be Democratic, not Democrat.

I hope you can open your mind to truth, and shut out the lies Satan has been feeding you, but frankly the chance that your soul can be saved is minimal.

here’s the problem with your ‘theory’ minutemann…

I watch news from every source.. not simply liberal sources – including FOX news.. when I can stomach it. The point is they blatantly lie.. over and over. They don’t contribute news.. they contribute opinion pieces. Keith Olbermann is similar in that way.. he usually is the liberal alternative to FOX because he’s not being ‘balanced’.. he’s offering his opinion. The difference, of course, is that I agree with Keith.. but the other difference is he is just one guy.. not an entire 24 hour ‘news’ organization. Fox is the only one that agrees with fox.. the bbc.. npr..abc.. nbc.. cnn..msnbc it doesn’t matter where else you go – you find the opposite view. Let me explain to you what NEWS is… you show what happened.. and then if you want to post an opinion piece on it.. you give two people with opposing views. That is ‘fair and balanced’.. FOX not only rarely offers the actual footage in full.. so that a person can reach their own conclusion, they also – when offering an opinion – have only one opinion.. ever. Never do they have the opposing side. As I said.. Keith Olbermann is guilty of this too.. but he is a needed reaction to the propaganda machine that is FOX. And most importantly.. FOX deliberately lies to their viewers.. did you see, for example, when Glenn Beck claimed the government would have rights to your computer if you went to the cash for clunkers website? This has been debunked everywhere.. it was a disclaimer that only appeared on when the car dealer went to the site.. but Beck reveals his intentions when he says ‘don’t go to the site’ and then also fails to bring up the page on his computer.. because he already knew he was doing what he always does.. bold faced lying and spreading fear and distrust of the government. Wake up minutemann… FOX is using you as a tool, brainwashing the public.. real news is when you are given the actual footage and allowed the adult responsibility to decide for yourself.

and Levi… I am a Christian. – and a Democrat for life.. and I take offense that Democrats feel the need to equate godlessness with liberalism. Life is not a random mutation.. matter of fact.. nothing random has ever occurred – for example.. throw a die – the result is determined by a long list of factors – trajectory, inertia.. what have you – but there is nothing random about it. Nothing random has happened.. everything is the result of physical laws.. the question being where did these laws stem from.. you may have your opinion that it was all simply a material process with no mind behind it. I respectfully disagree.. and I’d prefer you keep the religion out of politics. I’d prefer everyone did.. including the Republicans.. this is not the middle east.. there they see no seperation.. I would think we, as the product of a more developed nation, understand that they are two separate subjects.. and shouldn’t be combined. I believe in God.. for the first 25 years of my life I did not… what the hell does that have to do with politics??? When you combine the two you marginalize the Democratic party and alienate members.. like me. =)

When you talk about random occurrences, I presume you are trying to disprove evolution but you just rambled without being particularly clear. Maybe you were trying to prove that God exists by attempting to disprove random occurrences. I am uncertain but I can address both points.

We have studied genetics in some detail, and we know for a fact, that random mutations do occur. If you don’t believe it, try doing a study of fruit fly mutations yourself, you can find the experiment online and it is really easy. One of my science classes in grade school did it. There was no evidence that God decided what mutations were going to occur instead of those mutations being random.

Christians are always desperate to try to prove their mythology is true, and they always fail. Trying to prove the existence of God by determinism is irrational. It may make it easier for you to accept reality to have a magic God determining the outcome of everything, but that doesn’t make it true.

  163. lux says:

so the mutations were not the result of environmental factors? They occurred miraculously.. without any guiding principle? You believe things I never could.

The point is – any mutation is the result of actual, determinable physical processes. That’s not ‘random’.. and it implies it is just another part of the very laws of nature. I imagine you’re one to dispute the idea of whether nature has ‘laws’ as well.. ridiculous. Everything is guided by exact, determinable laws – of course you have the right to say ‘you have no evidence’ a God created these things… but so what?

This is a politics site.. if you want to discuss religion.. or argue against it’s validity – Richard Dawkins has a site for you.

I’d have affordable health care if Athena hadn’t caught Zeus with his “hand” in the cookie jar.

  165. minutemann says:

Ok Levi the Oracle. Thank you for the invitation.

I must say that I am afraid of the re-education gulag. That is what society did to Lovers of Liberty in Russia under Communism. I think that Obama would institute that next week, if he thought he could get away with it. I am worried that it might be tried within his 4 year term.

The lack of respect for freedom of conscience and Liberty in general exhibited by people who advocate Socialism, makes me think that a majority of people on the Left will fail to stand up for my Rights at any point all the way to the gas chamber. This fear is reinforced by the behavior of many people on this site. The general disrespect and underlying hatred. This is how it started for the Jews in Germany. One of the commentators even referred to me as an “it”. The dehumanization of people, is a stage on the path to mass graves. In Germany, the Jews were considered to be less than human, that is how people justified the atrocities committed against them.

Be that as it may, I will be standing up for the truth, as I can best determine it to be. Since I am saved, I am ready to meet my maker, and nothing can happen to me unless it is ok with God.

The whole Democrat/Democratic thing has been weird for me. When somebody is a member of the Republican party, calling them Republicans flows with no problem. When somebody is a member of the Democratic Party, calling them Democratics just sounds wrong. Calling them Democrats flows. What is the problem with that?

OK, so you say Glenn Beck lies, I will be careful.

I must say that the reason I consider him to be reliable,is that he champions Freedom, for real. when he talks about issues relating to Freedom, I know he is on target because I have figured that stuff out for myself. Being and engineering type, I have to be good at figuring out where the critical points are in a system that determine what the other parameters are. I have put in the hours figuring out Liberty, Human Nature, and Government. Glenn Beck has it right on that subject whether he was wrong, accidentally or on purpose, about the cash for clunkers thing.

    minutemann @ 195,

“That is what society did to Lovers of Liberty in Russia under Communism”.

Would you please elaborate, this is interesting?

I have heard about how people who do not fall in line get labeled insane etc. etc., in Communist countries. We have some of this Left Wing indoctrination going on in this country, they call it ’sensitivity training’.

I met a man is Switzerland who was once part of the Polish Military during World War II. He told me that after the west gave Poland over the Russians, they brought people from Russia in to teach his military group the Communist principals. He told me that when he and the others were not in class, they joked about how the Communist philosophy was a bunch of baloney that would never work in the end. He told me that the Russians has put some fake Polish solders in his squad, and that everyone who had joked about Communism got sent to gulag in Russia for “re-education”. He said that he escaped and moved by night until he got to the western side and that he was lucky yo get out before they Communists built the ‘iron curtain’ to keep people in.

When I asked the ex-Polish soldier what he thought of Communism, he said something that I didn’t understand until years later. He said “Who cares if the bars on the cage are golden, it is still a cage. I later figured out that he was saying, ‘it doesn’t matter if Communism is the most productive and efficient system ever devised, Freedom is more important.’ so the fact that Communism creates mass poverty and kill Freedom, makes it a nightmare system. I have been able to figure out that it is actually the lack of Freedom which causes the poverty.

Interesting how Communism is sold to people as ‘the workers paradise’, yet they have to build ‘iron curtains’ to keep people from escaping. In Capitalist/Freedom USA, we need to build a fence to keep people out. This fact speaks for itself.

There’s no great mystery about the motives behind this deliberate misnaming. “Democrat Party” is a slur, or intended to be—a handy way to express contempt. Aesthetic judgments are subjective, of course, but “Democrat Party” is jarring verging on ugly. It fairly screams “rat.”

minutemann, by your logic it would seem that the conservatives who have told you to use the expression “Democrat Party” have an interest in dehumanizing the left, no doubt in the hopes of someday murdering these dehumanized political opponents as easily as one might gas rats.

    Like the bible…

Did you know that the Bible makes many claims which can be checked out scientifically archeologically and by other scientific disciplines. The Bible always checks out, so I believe it on the things it says which cannot be checked, like the 6 day creation, or the 6,000 year age of the earth, and the claim that it is the infallible word of God with no contradictions. I have spent over 10 years checking into this in my spare time. As a born again Christian, I also have the Holy Spirit, God, helping me to get things correct. The Holy Spirit is another wittiness to the truth that I have, which many other people do not have. They can have the Holy Spirit too, anybody can by repenting of sin and believing in Christ.

Compare the Bibles track record with that of scientists, notice that I did not say science, scientists. They are wrong at least 30% of the time, so I do not believe scientists on anything which goes against God’s word – the KJV Bible for those who speak english.

Yes I have. If you think you have nothing to learn from those on the Right, or anything to learn from me, somebody you barely know, would that fit the definition of arrogant?

Self Righteousness is an interesting subject. How do you think that term became accepted as negative? I think it is because the English speaking world has its roots in Christianity. Did you know that the righteousness of Christians come from Jesus Christ’s perfect sinless righteousness when we accept the free gift of salvation? This was the point of Jesus coming to earth with the mission to die on the cross. Christianity teaches that we cannot earn righteousness on our own, that we cannot be Self-Righteous? Most, if not all, other religions teach that you must earn your own righteousness through good works, Self-Righteousness.

The Grace commision found that the government only got 28 cents, out of every welfare dollar, to the poor. 78 cents went down the black hole of Government waste.

I think that many people on the Left think that Government has to FORCE people into helping the poor because they know they wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t mandatory.

The West didn’t give Poland over to the Soviets; the West didn’t have Poland. You can’t give someone something you don’t have.

On the other hand, at the end of WWII, the Soviets did have Poland because they had pushed the German Army back out of Russia, out of the Soviet Union, through the Baltic countries and through Poland and through the Black Sea countries, like Romania, through Hungary, back to Germany. The Soviets got Poland after WWII because their army was right there on the ground and we weren’t. We had pushed the German army back from the West and South and the Russians, the Soviets, from the East.

The Soviets also had a piece of Poland at the beginning of WWII, in 1939, because they cut a deal with the Germans, a Non-Agression Treaty, wherein the Germans got Western and Central Poland and the Soviets got the part of Poland adjacent to the Ukraine and Belarus. A little over a year and a half later, in 1941, the Germans attacked the Soviets across a broad front thru Poland into Czechoslovakia and made it as far as the Volga River and the Caucasus before the Soviets managed to start pushing them back in 1943.

‘Sensitivity training’ is not Communist indoctrination; what ignoramus told you that.

What is your country of origin, minutemann? How much of your knowledge of history, etc, is from reading and how much is anecdotal, such as what your Polish friend in Switzerland told you?

I think there are some rabbis out there who would disagree with you. They might even call you a heretic and blasphemer, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from a Christianist.

Traditionally, Moses wrote the Pentateuch, and some other folks wrote the rest of the old Testament. Jesus didn’t have anything to do with it, in any direct sense; after all, he was not made flesh until the conception. There are a number of scholars who would be happy to tell you that the Torah, the Pentateuch, wasn’t actually written by Moses either; that the entire “Old Testament” was not collected and written down until the Babylon captivity and after.

as I said earlier minutemann.. I believe this is a site about politics – and that the conversation too often turns to religious matters.. which truly have no bearing on any of this.

For example..you can be pro-life.. if you wish – and claim that you agree with the Republicans because of this..and religious beliefs.. but you can also see that they are known for racism and sexism and warmongering.. and sex scandals..and corruption scandals.. etc. etc. and go ‘woah… these guys don’t reflect my religious views.. or my views at all’..

They may have one view you agree with on some biblical level.. but that is basicly all I see – even their stance on homosexuality is not religiously backed simply because Christ’s statement that ‘judge not lest ye be judged’.. ‘he who is without sin throw the first stone’ .. any of this ring any bells? you are not the judge of man.. your God is. You have no place NONE in saying what any person can or can’t do.. you can have your opinion.. but to follow a group that blatantly does the opposite of biblical teaching.. and then claim they are Christians?

The Democratic party honors freedom.. the right for each to believe what they wish.. to not infringe on others rights. Also to use government as a tool to benefit mankind when necessary. I think abortion is wrong.. but same as Christ saying you shouldn’t judge your fellow man.. I cannot tell another what they can or can’t do. The only place we are forced to do otherwise is when it endangers our own health – this is why abortion is such a touchy issue.. the viewpoint of considering it another unborn citizen.. it’s the reason the question can’t really be put away.. it’s as impossible as pointing to proof of God..

okay.. I’ve run on a bit.. the original point is simply I cannot condemn you.. only God can – yet Republican’s have taken to condemning nearly everyone who is in any way not fitting their standard. That is the exact opposite of biblical teaching.

And still.. this is a place for politics.. not religion, but you ask questions and I answer.

lux, have you ever heard the saying ‘you can’t legislate morality’?

It is a ridicules notion. All legislation is the legislation of morality. The laws against murder are the legislation of the moral position that murder is wrong. Laws against fraud are the legislation of the moral position that fraud is wrong. Government Handout Programs are the legislation of the moral position that Liberty takes a second seat to Politicians being able to bribe people for votes by promising to give them the fruit of other people’s labor.

The reason that the conversation turns to religion so often, is because morals are a matter of religious world view.

Somebody who had a religious belief that it takes 2 women to equal 1 man, would set up procedures for evidence in court where in takes the testimony of 2 women to equal the testimony of 1 man in court -> Muslim Sharia Law.

    John 8
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

He existed before Abraham, who lived 100’s of years ago. Did not say before Abraham was I was, He said “Before Abraham was, (present tense ->) I am, which is another way of saying – always have been.

In the below quote, Word is capitoliiazed when it is referring to God in the person of Jesus Christ. This is defined in verse 17.

    John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
    . . .
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Word was with God and was God, i.e. Word=God, verse 1. World was made by Him verse 10. Word/God was made flesh full of grace and truth, grace and truth -> Word/God who was made flesh, verse 14. Grace and truth, -> Word/God made flesh, -> Jesus Christ, verse 17.

The Jews were right that there is only one God, so the trinity is the only way to explain it. Why should it not be so, that a being who is self existing, all powerful and outside of time, might be just a little bit hard for our finite minds to comprehend.

    1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

These are just 2 places where the Bible says that Jesus Christ is God. You can say that you don’t believe the bible if you want to, but don’t blame Christians for believing that Jesus Christ was God, it is right there in the best selling book of all time, God’s word – the Bible.

You really think these guys portray Christian values? They support the corporations.. they support racism / sexism and most importantly WAR. Do you really think they have a “desire to bomb and kill any other country.. ANY other country”. Come on!

Also, I am not following behind them, they are beside me. Glenn is finally getting it, and Rush is still too far Left. Rush still thinks that my unalienable Right to Liberty can be violated by Government Handout Programs. He calls the money that people get from welfare programs, gifts, when it is actually spoil or plunder since the money was wrongfully taken from the Taxpayers.

Also, what is wrong with corporations? aren’t they just a group of people who freely chose to associate with each other for the purposes of commerce? When you think about it, Socialism would be a corporation with everybody in it, except that the Right to not participate is violated by the Majority Mob.

As far the death penalty goes, God instituted it.

It seems to me that a person cannot be saved without getting annoyed. The first step in getting saved is coming to the realization that you have blown it with God and are headed for Hell. The truth will make you free as Jesus said, but I have noticed that first it makes you mad, at least for many people. Who needs a Saviour when there is nothing to be saved from.

Big revivals of the past had the Hell, Fire and Brimstone preaching. Jesus talked about Hell in order to get people to understand how serious this is. Most unsaved people get annoyed at that.

@ 302. minutemann says: John 8: … 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

In the below quote, Word is capitoliiazed(sic) when it is referring to God in the person of Jesus Christ. This is defined in verse 17. John 1: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. … October 19th, 2009 at 3:12 am

Very well, mm, I will grant you that Jesus is purported to have said ‘I AM’. But the key is ‘purported’. You don’t have an eyewitness account, for what that might have been worth. The earliest extant copy of the Gospel of John is fragmentary, incomplete, and dates from 100 years or more after the crucifixion. As it happens, that is also the earliest extant copy of any of the Synoptic Gospels, and it also happens that it is ideosyncratic. And what you quote from is probably a second or third order derivative of John; a translation for the KJV from the Vulgate which was a traslation from an earlier coloquial Latin which may or may not have been a translation from the Greek (while whatever Jesus said was in Aramaic and was written down after the fact).

There is no need for you to quote John 1. John 1 is (purportedly) John’s own preachment, not a (purported) direct quote of the words of Jesus.

Matthew, Mark, and Luke all tell similar stories, so much so that some scholars are reasonably sure that they all are derivative of a singular Gospel which did not survive the early period of the church in it’s original form.

There are indications that all of the Gospels, as we see them, were tampered with by gentiles. Any gospel or epistle which refers to Jesus own people by a term used by gentiles and goyim is suspect.

Breaking News: ALIENS WITH TINFOIL HATS ON ARE INVADING EARTH TO JOIN REBELLION AGAINST PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!
    Lol…

Seriously, how dumb can these people get? And someone actually allows these idiots to vote? I keep saying this, but this is a perfect example of why we need to give potential voters i.q. tests; if their i.q. is less than 70 ( the MR range, I think), then they will not be allowed to vote. WE cannot have FauxNoose-watching idiots have a say in who are representatives will be next year. Who’s with me?

  281. linzloo08 says:

And the 1st question of my i.q. test will be : Do you consider Fox News to be a reliable news source?
If they say yes, then they are automatically disqualified from voting. If they say no, it’s a source of propaganda, not news, then they will be allowed to vote. I know that this will only happen in my dreams, but a girl can hope, right?

When the Obama campaign began, they knew they had a candidate who was not ready for prime time. estetik I’m sure they looked at the media organizations and saw who treated George Bush like an illegitimate boob so they knew they had them in their pocket. burun estetigi The biggest problem they had was Fox News. The people at Fox just wouldn’t go along to get along, they’d ask tough questions, questions that may not have a good answer, questions they might not be prepared for, the other networks would be much more respectful. gögüs büyütme ameliyatlari They’d be respectful because, Obama is black and they wouldn’t want to appear to be attacking him and they also wanted to see a Democrat elected and were willing to bend their coverage to get this accomplished. gögüs estetigi The idea then had to be to delegitimize Fox News. gögüs küçültme ameliyatlari To start this off, Obama said he wouldn’t appear in any debates on Fox News. vajina daraltma ameliyatlari Instead of the other networks calling him on it and wondering why, they went along, all the more for them. lazer epilasyon To me, it was a bad move for those networks because it was the beginning of their demise. karin germe estetigi It worked during the campaign but now they still have one network that stands out as giving people opposing opinions on the Obama plans and they just don’t like it so why not do what worked during the campaign estetik? This strategy will work as long as the other networks go along. This time, however, there seems to be a little (and I mean a little) push-back from the Obama media. karin germe estetigi The NY Times is hinting this might not be a good move, as is the Washington Post. saç ekimi It’s still not enough but they’ll keep it up because, if they go on Fox they will lose the veneer the other networks allow them to keep. This smells of Rahm Emanuel but I’m sure that David Axelrod is going along with it. yag aldirma ameliyati I don’t believe Obama has enough sense to decide either way because, if he did, he’d tell them he can handle Fox, his ego is that big. kulak estetigi No, Emanuel and Axelrod know that, if Obama goes on Fox they can kiss the 2010 election and the 2012 election good-bye and they can’t risk that.
