Liz Cheney’s newly-launched neoconservative front group Keep America Safe (which The Wonk Room’s Matt Duss renames “The Foreign Policy Keep America Project For A Safe New American Century Initiative”) released a web ad last week attacking a variety of MSNBC hosts for being “afraid” to “talk substance.” “Why don’t they want to debate the issues?” a chyron reads. Another one asks, “What are they so afraid of?” Last night, Rachel Maddow responded by noting that Liz Cheney appears to be the one who is “afraid” of a debate:
MADDOW: Our booking producers have been calling Liz Cheney and asking her to come on this show and discuss her ideas, debate the issues for months. We have called her many, many, many times – including twice on Friday. So far, she has declined every single invitation that we have extended.
And I understand – a lot of people say no to being on this show. But not a lot of them do so while claiming that MSNBC is afraid to debate them. Be not afraid, Ms. Cheney. I promise I will not bite.
Watch it:
Of course, it’s not as if Liz Cheney is afraid of appearing on cable news shows. After all, as Steve Benen documented back in May, Cheney appeared “all over the television news” — including MSNBC — to defend her dad’s policies. Is it debating Maddow that she’s afraid of?
Liz Cheney is afraid of being made to look like a fool. Also the stake Rachel will drive through her heart.
October 20th, 2009 at 9:54 amThey’ve been trying to contact Cheney for months and they have the nerve to run ads asking why they won’ debate her???
I always thought Liz Cheney was just her father in drag. Finding out she has a set of solid brass balls appears to confirm it.
October 20th, 2009 at 9:55 amIs it debating Maddow that she’s afraid of?
That it as she knows that Rachael will ask real questions and as for facts, and she would not be able to just keep talking and ramming on.
October 20th, 2009 at 9:56 amBesides how could she (liz) keep face to went shes put in her place by a Rachael and well you know some one from that other side.
After she cleaned Tim Phillips’ clock, who can blame her? :D
October 20th, 2009 at 9:56 amIt’s interesting that the latest neocon fear-mongering vehicle is accusing others of being “afraid” when their entire mission is to scare the population into letting them have their way with us again.
I can’t decide which the Cheneys prefer, fear-mongering or war-mongering.
October 20th, 2009 at 9:57 amtalking loud, ain’t sayin nuthin.
that’s the cheney way.
maybe when liz can chalk up 5 deferrments we can truly appreciate her wisdom and sage advice.
October 20th, 2009 at 9:58 amEvery Republican is afraid of debate. Look at our trolls. Debate is the last thing they want. They want to disrupt, derail and distract. If they debate, they are easily debunked, and made to look like fools.
Liz Cheney knows she is on the wrong side of history, but she, like the rest of the Republican Party, is “all in”. Once you sell your soul to Satan, you can’t get it back.
October 20th, 2009 at 9:58 amLiz Cheney should be rightly terrified. Rachel would expose her as the war-mongering, dicatorial, black-hearted pseudo-intellectual she is.
October 20th, 2009 at 9:59 amDo it, Liz. It’s time for you to venture out from the sheltering arms of FoxSnooze. Or from George S’s Sunday show where you are just plain ignored.
p.s. — as a result of the White House’s “War on Fox”, Rupert has changed the tagline to more properly reflect reality –
October 20th, 2009 at 9:59 am“We report (incite, conflate, fabricate and just plain BS); you decide which is which.”
Ugh! Everytime I see Liz I cringe. MSM is constantly giving her a platform. Why? Because Daddy used to be Veep? The woman has no job except the one created for her. She is out there playing the fear card. Well, Liz, it’s been played in 2006 and 2008. And it didn’t work did it?
October 20th, 2009 at 10:01 amYou Go Girl!
( I see Pat Buchannon no longer “debates” Rachael anymore )
Could be the reason why Liz is too chicken to come on Rachael’s show.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:02 amRachel may not bite, but she will rip your head off and sh*t down your neck – and smile as she does it.
C’mon, Liz. I double dog dare you…
October 20th, 2009 at 10:02 amTin Lizzie wouldn’t know a honest debate if it hit her upside the head like a 2×4.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:02 amI’m trying to not be too obnoxious about this but.. if you have time – you should watch..
http://www.ae911truth.org/flashmov11.htm
yes, I always have found 9/11 comment bombers annoying too.. I wouldn’t share it if it wasn’t worth the viewing -
October 20th, 2009 at 10:03 amWent it comes to fair and balance BS fox is the one to turn to.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:04 amWere we fairly balance it all our way.
Conservatives always dodge the opposing media. Remember that Barack Ob ma appeared on O’Reilly’s show. Did/will we ever see Sarah Palin on Olbermann or Maddow? Um…no.

October 20th, 2009 at 10:04 amUm… short answer = YES.

October 20th, 2009 at 10:07 amLandrieu is on Rattigan’s show. That skank is going on and on against the Public option. I feel like throwing something at the TV.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:09 amOOmppOO…. thanks for the link – not so much just for the health reform bill.. but for the article below, Michael Steele being a jackass again.
Michael Steele :No “Comprehensive Overhaul” Needed For Health Care, Many Americans Don’t Have “Legitimate” Claim To Care
…….
October 20th, 2009 at 10:10 amRachel IS fair. And informed, educated, intelligent and prepared. You never have to face all that on Fox. However could little Lizzie cope? I’d love to see Rachel confront her with—gasp—the truth.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:13 amOlby Sucks says:
Mandow is clearly desperate for ratings.
It must really pain you now that fox is not the number one rated show huh? seeing its not even a news show. :-)
so like Keith said last night MSNBC is number 1
go ahead say it with us all
October 20th, 2009 at 10:13 ampablito says:
Is it debating Maddow that she’s afraid of?
Um… short answer = YES.
Yep Liz is afraid of “sick puppies” aka intelligent educated liberals with superior intellect and debating skills
October 20th, 2009 at 10:13 amI really despise Liz Cheney. Seriously. She is just about as disingenuous as it gets — an ugly trait learned from her equally ugly mother.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:14 amIs it debating Maddow that she’s afraid of?
– - It must be ‘teh gay.’
Oh, wait….
October 20th, 2009 at 10:15 ammOldy Socks says:
“On a much more important note, good to see obama will be hosting a $30,000 a plate dinner for the wall street boys.”
Very important indeed.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:15 amThe writing is on the wall.
Any “Wall St. boy” willing to shuck out 30K must be able to read.
Rachel is a lot like my old First Sergeant, she doesn’t chew people out, she chews around it and lets it drop out.
If Liz Cheney appears it will be with the proviso that she be hot wired to her dad.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:18 amLiz Cheney is a coward, just like her father. Ironic that she should be such a war-monger considering that she is the child Dick Cheney had in order to get his fifth deferment to avoid going to Vietnam.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:20 amOlby Sucks says:
so like Keith said last night MSNBC is number 1
#1 at what? Being last?
No that would be cnn as its number 2 and well we all know that number 2 is first place for the last place finishers
I see the start of your troll shift is not starting well
October 20th, 2009 at 10:20 amgood morning
Someone hand Olby Sucker some lotion and tissues…
October 20th, 2009 at 10:21 amLiz doesn’t have the guts to go on Rachel’s show. All of MSM treats Liz with kid gloves. Watching her on Morning Joe makes my stomach turn. They don’t ask tough questions. Liz knows Rachel would mop the floor with her. Maybe Liz should stick with Faux. They LOVE her brand of Bullsh*t and paranoia.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:21 amRemember when the trolls used to actually engage people with thoughtful discussions before they flamed out?
ahhh, the good ol’ days….
October 20th, 2009 at 10:23 amThe apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Just like her daddy who was too afraid to serve in VietNam, Liz Cheney is a coward and is too afraid to debate Rachel Maddow. Such rich snobs. They act like they think they are royalty. If this was revolutionary France, they would be in the front of the line heading for the guillotine.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:23 amLizzy just wants to keep daddy out of the Hague.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:27 amHow can Liz Cheney stand up to the terrorists when she’s clearly afraid of standing up to Rachel Maddow?
October 20th, 2009 at 10:27 amShhhhh.
Easy there, Olby Sucks. Just relax and calm down. Just think of Keith Olbermann’s seductive voice when he sings you to sleep at night after an arousing game of “Hide the Microphone”.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:28 amoldfuzz says:
If Liz Cheney appears it will be with the proviso that she be hot wired to her dad.
Or perhaps she’d insist that Billy Kristol would have to go on with her so he could sit there smirking and tag team with more talking points whenever Liz stops talking – which could be never the way she drones on and on.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:28 amraynman says,
October 20th, 2009 at 10:28 amSeems the more they realize they’re irrelevant to the discussion, the more desperate and shrill they get.
Nothing makes me happier than idiotic, right-wing, manic, unhealthy obsessions in the morning.
Rant on loser…
October 20th, 2009 at 10:29 amIf Keith & Rachel are ’sick puppies’, (according to Poppy Bush),
perhaps Liz could bring her Dad one of those puppies.
Then Big Dick could go on Beck’s show & eat one live.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:29 amJust like every other neocon loser on the planet, Liz Cheney pisses her ugly old granny panties with fear every time she thinks of confronting Rachel Maddow.
Rachel would hand her her head – and not even break a sweat.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:29 amThey might be made of brass but they are the size of BB’s just like her deferment Dad’s.

Uh, no.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:31 amOlby Sucks says: Ziegler Offers Olbermann $100K To Debate After ‘Crush on Palin’ Remark.
Bring it on.
Keith will most likely DONATE the money to help with the free health clinics he’s started in the DINO States.
How much has Ziegler donated to health clinics?
ps: Can Keith have Keene on, as well?
October 20th, 2009 at 10:33 amOlby Sucks says:
“You know you suck when you get beat by Nancy Grace! ROFL!”
Olby, Okay, you’ve had your fun. Time to let the adults continue the discussion.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:33 amWow – it would seem that the troll has quite a crush on Keith! You cannot be that obsessed without secretly desiring him on ‘the inside’.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:33 amLiz is a LIAR and a TRAITOR, just like her Daddy and that TREASONOUS little PUNK Bush.
Liz, don’t worry that Rachel’s GAY—so is your sister.
And George Bush, too…
October 20th, 2009 at 10:33 amYou do know that Countdown was a rerun on Friday because Olbermann was sick, right, Olby Sucks?
Did you give him H1N1?
October 20th, 2009 at 10:34 amShut up, Bovine!
Did KKKlownnity ever fulfill his promise to undergo waterboarding for charity?
October 20th, 2009 at 10:35 amLike her daddy, Liz is more comfortable with Fixed News, where seldom is heard a discouraging word about Republicans. Liz knows Maddow won’t let her talk over her.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:35 amLiz Cheney is no match for Rachel Maddow — Liz and her people know that. They prefer to stand on the sidelines and throw mudballs rather than get into the arena and substantively debate.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:36 amThey have nothing. They presided over the worst presidency in modern times, if not the worst in our history. Their warmongering, fearmongering, and utter disregard for their fellow man has on display for years – their lies, their fabrications, their manipulative exploitation of the press has been their modus operandi. They cannot debate with integrity – they are without honor or honesty.
Maddow and Olbermann use the TRUTH.
TRAITORS like the Cheneys and Bushes know that the TRUTH is their ENEMY.
REAL Americans KNOW this.
Not, “olby sucks Maddow’s azz”, of course…
October 20th, 2009 at 10:36 amI have nothing to say that matters to any human being on the planet. I am just waiting for Keith to give me the time of day. I love him.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:36 amLooks to me like they’re still using the tired and old Atwater playbook: talk everything but substance, then accuse everyone else of not wanting a real debate.

October 20th, 2009 at 10:39 amNO one should respond to any of my posts as I am an attention whore.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:39 amHey, I’D be scared if I went up against Rachel Maddow. Maddow is razor-sharp, and she does her homework. I rarely see anyone more prepared for their guests (although Jon Stewart is pretty amazing in that department, too — just ask Jim Cramer). If you face Rachel Maddow, you will NOT be able to get away with only rehearsed soundbites.
Liz’s rhetoric serves her well when preaching to the choir, but it won’t stand up to any meaningful challenge.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:39 amOlbyloon, you keep hanging onto those rating numbers, because that’s all you got. You can’t come here and argue the issue that Rachel would hand Liz her lunch. There is no way Liz could debate Rachel and not come out looking like a no nothing right wing loon.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:40 amThe Cheneys and Bushes are TRAITORS who HATE the TRUTH, and NEED HANGING!!
October 20th, 2009 at 10:41 am@70, LOL! I hate to agree with you, but you got that right!
October 20th, 2009 at 10:41 amI am just here to lie about the facts but I am so confused because in so doing, I must talk badly about my true love Keith. I’m really just a messed up human being.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:41 amFirstborn Liz was Dick’s “other priority” in 1967 and his excuse for his last deferment.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:41 amIs it debating Maddow that she’s afraid of?
Of course it is…..because Liz Cheney doesn’t debate….she just spews her stupid, incorrect talking points over and over and doesn’t shut up until the program is over. She wouldn’t be able to plow through without Rachel making her justify her comments and prove them correct. What a pathetic, bullying weasel!!
October 20th, 2009 at 10:42 ammissmolly says:

She reminds me of Terry Gross in that regard–imagine someone interviewing an author after not only reading the entire book but doing all the background work necessary for a real discussion. Freaky.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:42 amWell played, Ms. Maddow. Though I should point out that the Cheney’s refuse to appear on PBS as well.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:42 amI have to take medicine you know, doctor prescribed. I don’t pay for it of course, my girlfriend is on welfare.

Bushes, Cheneys and TREASONOUS supporters HATE the TRUTH.
And America.
REAL Americans KNOW this.
When Bush DROPS DEAD, I hope it is FACE-FIRST into CONCRETE.
And then the SAME for ETERNITY with his MASTER Satan.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:44 amA few observations (not in depth due to time constraints at work):
1) Rachel’s hot!
2) She’s not desperate for ratings, unlike Twajie who’s desperate for attention.
3) This thread is NOT about Keith Olbermann, Twajie’s man crush.
4) Did I mention Rachel’s hot?
I loves me some Maddow
October 20th, 2009 at 10:45 amI see the stupid troll’s Mommy left her stash unattended, again. And on a school day? For shame!
October 20th, 2009 at 10:45 amThose of you who say i lie are just wrong…..no facts…shocker…lol……no facts…..shocker…..lol
lol lol llool.
Do you think Keith would give me the time of day? Maybe just let me bring him coffee in the morning.. I can dream can’t i?

Let me say again, that just because Starbucks and McDonalds have the biggest “restaurant audiences” does NOT imply their products aren’t fcuking garbage.
Or in other words, Achy-Breaky Heart may have been a hit single, but that DOESN’T MEAN it’s a good song.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:49 amFox is not a “news agency”. Just Nazi PROPAGANDA.
“olby sucks” will be with the Bushes and Cheneys for ETERNITY.
Along with their MASTER Satan and TRAITOR Ronnie Reagan, DEAD and BURNING.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
October 20th, 2009 at 10:49 amWhich reminds me, Jeffy Bovine.
I also made the same bet with you, Bovine.
Since you suggested that then Senator Obama should “take a long drink of cold water”
What happened to those $10,000, Bovine?
Did you have the ovaries to actually donate them to charity?
Since last week’s arrest of one of your wingnut relatives in central California, have you asked Futt Bace to scrub your comments off Crapper 1?
October 20th, 2009 at 10:50 amI wonder if Liz sees the irony in calling her organization “Keep America Safe” given the fact that it was her dad and GW that got that presidential daily briefing over a month before 9/11 entitled “Bin Laden determined to strike in US” and decided not to act on it.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:51 amiRi says:
Maddow is the 200 lb butch bully calling out the smallest kid on the playground.
I’m glad you see Liz as a nobody, but do you really consider Maddow to be the bully if Liz is the one provoking the whole thing from behind an advertisement?
October 20th, 2009 at 10:52 amLiz Cheney is shoveling BS to raise funds for her foundation. Now that Maddow has called her bluff, Cheney needs to put up or shut up. If she continues to appear on other cable news shows, it is highly probable she will be asked why she won’t go on Maddow. Cheney is not going to go on Maddow, just like Hannity chickened out with Olberman.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:53 amiRBaboon
You left Jeffy Bovine’s ignorance waaaaaaay behind you.
Obviously, for a gNOpig fluffer, you don’t even know the public service of some gNOpig politicians.
If Liz Cheney is a “soccer mom” she should just STFU and not comment about things she doesn’t know anything about.
Just like you, iRBaboon.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:54 amOlby says: I am just here to lie about the facts
I like the new Olby … he’s so…. truthful
October 20th, 2009 at 10:54 amMore like a soccer ball if you ask me. I guess you have a point, cheney would not dare speak her mind in front of anyone intelligent.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:55 amAfter watching Rachel gracefully deconstruct Tom Ridge and Tim Phillips, Liz Cheney would probably rather enlist and go to Afghanistan than sit in front of Rachel for 45 minutes.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:56 amBURN, TRAITOR Ronnie, BURN.
It will remind all your followers, and those of the Bushes and Cheneys WHAT IS IN STORE for THEM…
October 20th, 2009 at 10:57 am#91 – iRi says:
————————————————————
“..but since her (Maddow’s) job is to defend the indefensible she can’t possibly come out on top in a debate with a conservative peer”
October 20th, 2009 at 10:49
iRi has obviously never seen the Rachel Maddow show. Had he actually turned the channel to her show, he’d realize how well informed Rachel is, how easily she disects the conserva-talking-points, and encourages real debate.
If you’re looking for real debate, don’t watch Fox news, they only regurgitate the latest right-whiner talking point, and never attempt to engage with speakers with whom they disagree.
Ms. Maddow is a true journalist, and encourages her guests to explaon their perspective, not just regurgitate right-whiner talking points.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:57 amFox News is not a news agency. At best it is infotainment, at worst, it is the propaganda arm of a fascist crime syndicate, to which you are a party.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:57 amUnlike faux shows, if Cheney went on Rachel’s show she would be treated with respect, be able to say what she wants without being shouted over, belittled or have her mike cut off. She will thou have to backup her remarks with facts, and would be challenged on those facts. That is how a REAL news show runs.
October 20th, 2009 at 11:04 amHereinDC says:
( I see Pat Buchanan no longer “debates” Rachael anymore )
I think that Rachel had Buchanan on her show in the beginning at the behest of management. Once she got her feet under her and started pulling good ratings, he stopped showing up. That’s probably because by then Rachel had some power over who would be on her show.
I do have to admit that I kind of miss the facial expressions Rachel could come up with while “debating” Buchanan. She’s the master of the “rolling eye” technique.
October 20th, 2009 at 11:05 amWhat is it exactly that is “indefensible” that Maddow has been hired to defend? Is she defending the use of torture against US prisoners? Is she defending the economic policies that have reduced America to a second rate nation? Is she defending starting wars of aggression for profit?
October 20th, 2009 at 11:08 amBe afraid Liz Chenney, be very afraid.
Maddows is brighter, better prepared, and probably the most fearless reporter out there. The Chenney pedigree means nothing on Rachael’s show.
October 20th, 2009 at 11:15 amTo right-wing nutjobs, the TRUTH is INDEFENSIBLE.
Because THEY can’t DEFEND their LIES against it…
October 20th, 2009 at 11:16 amKeep BURNING, TRAITOR Ronnie.
Show the Bushes, Cheneys and their TREASONOUS supporters
WHAT’S IN STORE FOR THEM….
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
October 20th, 2009 at 11:18 am106 — You’ve hit it — those are all the indefensible things Ugly Lizzie is out there defending. Hmmmm.
October 20th, 2009 at 11:18 amLevi.. you don’t necessarily know that PaladinofPeace is a part of the Republican party.. because we don’t know if they wouldn’t just call him a RINO.. and start a slap fight with him..

October 20th, 2009 at 11:24 amWell, there’s the trollish character in a nutshell. Thank you, stupid troll, for admitting that you don’t even bother watching, much less comprehending, anyone who hasn’t pledged allegiance to your twisted philosophy of paranoia and xenophobia. That makes it much easier to discount your alleged opinions and opinionated allegations.

Self pleasure and acceptance among peers?
October 20th, 2009 at 11:26 amIt’s really simple in opposite land. To a Rheichwhiner, someone who manages to kick Oxycontin for a few hours at a time, or has phone-sex with a subordinate, is a “professional”. A Rhodes Scholar with a doctorate? Not so much.
October 20th, 2009 at 11:33 amWhat professionals do you read? What fields are of interest to you? I bet your answer will be about as good as Sarah Palin’s when she was asked what she reads.
You still haven’t answered my previous question. What is it exactly that is “indefensible” that Maddow has been hired to defend?
Why are you ducking questions? Oh wait, that one I know the answer to.
October 20th, 2009 at 11:41 amOlby Sucks: “Olberman is a teddy bear. I want to sleep with him”

he can still afford that AM radio tho, and it tells him what to think and what to fear
he’s a typical republican coward
October 20th, 2009 at 11:46 amiRi: “Your viewing habits and illiteracy is why I look at most of you like monkeys in the zoo.”
Says the stalwart, proud voice of the common people who just can’t stand elitism.
October 20th, 2009 at 11:48 ami gotta admit, it IS fun to make fun of iRbaboon as he comes here and pretends to be the observer
it’s cute when he pretends to know stuff
October 20th, 2009 at 11:48 amiRi: “Everything you love is tainted and everything you know is wrong.”
Now I know you. You’re that guy downtown walking around in a robe with a placard that says “The End is Near! Repent!” The guy who knows everything and stuff. Right?
October 20th, 2009 at 11:49 amA person of “fine sensibilities” would be wise enough to refrain from comment about a subject they know nothing about. Once one has admitted ignorance? One should STFU.
Alas, stupid trolls fail to see how ridiculous they look when they spout, “I never watch it but…”.
Morons.
October 20th, 2009 at 11:50 amLet me guess, your a libertarian who never supported bush and you have a black friend, therefore you are not a racist either, right?
October 20th, 2009 at 11:50 amPsst, OlbySucks, wanna buy some nude pictures of Keith Olberman?
October 20th, 2009 at 11:51 am“It’s garbage in garbage out people. Your viewing habits and illiteracy is why I look at most of you like monkeys in the zoo. You’re fun to tease and provide some laughs. I do get a little weary of dodging your feces though.”
So you exercise the same habits of the people you claim not to listen to??? Your sole purpose is to provoke response out of a blog that you disagree with? That sounds like the tactics of right-wing radio, and Redstate.com.
“It’s amazing what 12 years of public school and liberal indoctrination via MSM has done to kids these days”
Public school is NOT the enemy! I recieved a great education in public school. It taught me to be an individual, and think critically. Not march in lock step, dressed alike, and down color coded hallways like these private schools do. If I wanted to look like the opening ceremony at the Beijing games, I’d just move to China
October 20th, 2009 at 11:51 amiRi: ” I don’t have cable. I don’t have Dish. I told Time Warner to go f themselves almost 15 years ago.”
Translation: He don’t got no TV out thar in the country.
October 20th, 2009 at 11:53 amGee, sorry, Olby. I thought you’d be interested in nude photos of Keith Olberman because you had posted this:
Olby Sucks: “Olberman is a teddy bear. I want to sleep with him”
I must have misunderstood you.
October 20th, 2009 at 11:54 amExhibit A: The inclusive right and the reason they are now officially the permanent minority obstructionist party.
Happy days eh?
October 20th, 2009 at 11:55 amExhibit B: “iRi: “Your viewing habits and illiteracy is why I look at most of you like monkeys in the zoo.”
Conservatives just can’t stand those East Coast elites. You can tell by their “common touch.”
October 20th, 2009 at 11:57 amThe poor stupid trolls really don’t have much choice though. They can’t actually listen to those outside the flock or they might begin to question dogma. So long as they never watch Ms. Maddow they can project any damn-fool notion they wish upon her. It’s kind of how they view the Buybull from afar and project their own prejudices into it.
Heck! Andy Schlafly finally read his Buybull and discovered it’s full of “liberal messages” he wishes to expunge. And the poor trolls are faced with a similar crisis whenever they open themselves to new information. And, let’s face it, the poor things just aren’t equipped to deal with logical dilemmas.
October 20th, 2009 at 12:01 pmMore denial? Can’t keep your personalities straight? Blame everyone but yourself?
Maybe you can lie your way out of it. Worked in grade school, right?
October 20th, 2009 at 12:05 pmDon’t try to argue or reason with the trolls.
They are just a lower form of life that prattles everything they are told to prattle by the repiggie leadership and the talk radio shamans.
October 20th, 2009 at 12:12 pmiRi@125 claimed that global warming and socialized medicine are indefensible.
iRi, do you know what indefensible means? If so, please explain why global warming and socialized medicine are indefensible.
To me, indefensible means things that cannot be defended like torture or genocide. I personally don’t equate a global warming hoax, assuming it is a hoax, with torture and genocide. I also don’t equate socialized medicine, which includes programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, with things like torture and genocide.
Why is your definition of what behavior cannot be defended so different from mine? Oh, wait, I know the answer to that one.
October 20th, 2009 at 12:12 pmLook it up. The revenues at SS will exceed expenditures through 2017 if nothing is done. I forget the exact year but simply rolling back the Bush policies will add several years to that. Considering the backlog of crises it simply isn’t an immediate priority and, since it has been managed more effectively in the past, there are some good ideas about what can be done when they get around to it.
Plus, in case you missed it, it looks like we missed the worst of that collapse that hit last year. Most of the world has tightened it’s belt and gotten busy fixing the damage.
October 20th, 2009 at 12:29 pmNinerFan, I don’t think pictures will be of any use to our good friend Olby Sucks. If it’s not the real thing, he’s not interested.
Unless you have a human-sized pillow with Keith’s body on it. I have no doubt he’d buy the entire stock from you.
And really, there’s no big deal about it, OS. Your man-crush over Olbermann is so sweet. It goes to show just how much you care about the guy. I wish you two the happiest of honeymoons together.
October 20th, 2009 at 12:35 pmYou go, Rachel Maddow.
That was an excellent interview with Tim Phillips last week. And I think that was reasonable proof that at least one MSNBC host has no particular fear of open debate with folks from the right.
So what’s Liz Cheney’s problem. Fear of having to defend a weak position. Incompetence in discussion without an audience packed with yes men? (but not THOSE prankster Yes Men, heh).
October 20th, 2009 at 12:41 pmSeriously. I get really tired of this “end of the world as we know it” crap. The fact of the matter is that there was a worldwide economic collapse triggered, almost entirely, by unregulated speculative trading. To put it bluntly, the parasites nearly killed the host.
However, what is lost, is the fact that the modern world economy has weathered the storm. Wealth has been lost but the human cost is shaping up to be relatively minor. It’s starting to look like our ancestors built a system that even the stupidest managers can’t manage to break entirely.
But the really astounding thing is the vehemence with which the party of the ousted failures is condemning those the American people hired to fix the mistakes of the immediate past. I’m afraid that their time lines play out as, “first Clinton, now Obama“, despite the eight years in between.
October 20th, 2009 at 12:43 pmOops! Wrong thread.
October 20th, 2009 at 12:46 pmPurpleState: “Unless you have a human-sized pillow with Keith’s body on it. I have no doubt he’d buy the entire stock from you.”
Right. It looks like his name, “Olby Sucks,” is just his form of wishful thinking.
October 20th, 2009 at 12:46 pmWhy would anyone weep? How very disingenous. You chose to link to numbers for a FRIDAY night. Of course you do realize that friday night is not exactly let’s sit at home and watch political news shows night don’t you? Using the link you provided, (thanks by the way) I looked at Thursday’s numbers and Keith was kicking Nancy’s arse.
Nice try though. Thanks for playing.
October 20th, 2009 at 12:57 pmSo you’re, like, saying, like, Cheney is playing favorites among news agencies ?
October 20th, 2009 at 1:05 pmIt’s hard to believe that righties hang their hats so hard on these cable ratings. Whatever makes them feel better I guess.
But look at the numbers on the site: 97 million households in the country have access to Fox News but on any given night, the best they do is about 1.3 million viewers with MSNBC and CNN getting marginally less in the best case to about half the viewers in the worst case.
So, a little more than 1% of people who could be watching FOX news are watching it. Here’s a thought, Righties: maybe election results would be a better barometer for where most of the country stands than cable news ratings.
October 20th, 2009 at 1:16 pmNinerFan says:

I am sure the ratings would be higher if Fox dumbed the news down and put the news in cartoon format.
October 20th, 2009 at 2:27 pmJust because Fox “News” has more viewers, it just says one thing about the Republican Party…There are more mindless zombie, mindless sheep who need to get their talking points from TV…
October 20th, 2009 at 2:29 pmHaving had a little time to go over today’s postings and slurping down my second cup of coffee, I’m feeling less polite.
I don’t think that Rachel has to personally bite Darth Miss Piggy (Liz Cheney), but there’s no particularly good reason not to launch a full bore Rottweiler or Doberman at her butt, is there?
October 20th, 2009 at 2:47 pm“I promise I will not bite.”
No, lick.
October 20th, 2009 at 10:39 pmFrom Faiz’s post;
“Of course, it’s not as if Liz Cheney is afraid of appearing on cable news shows. After all, as Steve Benen documented back in May, Cheney appeared “all over the television news” — including MSNBC — to defend her dad’s policies. Is it debating Maddow that she’s afraid of?“
Uh. Gosh. Ya’ think?
Liz isn’t a pro schpieler like Time Phillips or the guys that Rachel takes on. And she probably knows it. She’s just opinionated, but there’s no substance beyond the opinion.
October 21st, 2009 at 2:00 pm@ 140, should be “Tim Phillips…”
October 21st, 2009 at 2:01 pmThank you for your sharing.!
October 23rd, 2009 at 5:53 pmLiz Cheney’s newly-launched neoconservative front group Keep America Safe estetik (which The Wonk Room’s Matt Duss renames “The Foreign Policy Keep America Project For A Safe New American Century Initiative burun estetigi”) released a web ad last week attacking a variety of MSNBC hosts for being “afraid” to “talk substance. gögüs büyütme ameliyatlari” “Why don’t they want to debate the issues gögüs estetigi?” But when it comes to politics Maddow kicks the crap out of Kelly in the knowledge department gögüs küçültme ameliyatlari.
