Schwarzenegger’s secret message to the state Assembly: ‘F*ck you.’

The California Assembly and Senate recently unanimously approved Assembly Bill 1176 to help the port of San Francisco with financing issues. But Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) has decided to veto the legislation, sending a letter to the state Assembly chastising them for focusing on “unnecessary bills.” The San Francisco Bay Guardian also notes a second, more direct, message hidden in Schwarzenegger’s missive — contained in the first letter of each line:

Schwarzenegger's Letter

The author of the Assembly Bill 1176 is Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, who recently shouted out “You lie!” to Schwarzenegger at a public event. Schwarzenegger’s office, however, is insisting that the letter’s coded message was just “a strange coincidence.” “When you do so many vetoes, that’s bound to happen,” said the governor’s spokesman.

No dammit! You’re the Terminator, don’t just hide it come out and say it like it is!

I have new respect for Mr. Schwarzenegger.

  6. EnnuiDivine says:

Even if I don’t agree with his handling of the budget, I just can’t hate Arnold. He’s one of the increasingly very few level-headed Republicans in the country.

And, yeah. Coincidence, my ass. I’m actually kinda surprised he didn’t come right out and say it in the letter.

  7. Chyron HR says:

“When you do so many vetoes…”

    Mmmm, that’s some goooooood Governing!

  8. missmolly says:

Hmmm…I bet other governors are taking notes.

  9. P.D. says:

LOL! Are we to believe this is just a coincidence? I have to say, it took balls.

  10. Dave N says:

    Haha!! That’s awesome!!

  11. EnnuiDivine says:

Then again, look at Assemblyman Ammiano. He once told the Governator to kiss his gay ass.

Why can’t we get politics this colourful in NJ?

  12. Briseadh na Faire says:

So, the Governator vetoes a bill, not on its merits or lack thereof, but because he’s ticked that legislation addressing other issues has not made it to his desk.

All of our elected representatives (the vote was unanimous) felt it reasonable and necessary to help the Port of San Francisco, and all the Governator can say is:
    F
    u
    c
    k

    Y
    o
    u

I’m guessing that whoever wrote this letter for the Governator is looking for a job today.

  13. DRxJ says:

Okay, at first (being the analytical math genius that I am…heh) I was believing that this could be coincidence.
Until I read this little ditty…”kicks the can down the alley”.

Who in their right mind, besides trolls, would actually use that phrase in an official document?

So, no coincidence, but funny as hell!

  14. P.D. says:

Ian’t this a little passive agressive, though? When you deal with ‘The Arnold’ you would think he would whip out a machine gun to get his point across.

  33. EnnuiDivine says:

California is ungovernable and has been since Prop 13. How in the fuzzy hell are you supposed to govern responsibly…when you need a 2/3 majority for ALL tax increases in the state?

i.e., Arnold’s not solely to blame…even for the veto of single payer. It’s likely the courts would’ve blocked it’s implementation.

  34. House of Roberts says:

Is there no veto override by the legislature in California?
Veto of a unanimously passed bill is wasting more of their time.

  35. NinerFan says:

All this proves is that even a moderate Republican is unfit to run a state honestly and seriously.

  36. NinerFan says:

EnnuiDevine: “i.e., Arnold’s not solely to blame…even for the veto of single payer.”

Whatever. The big phony sure isn’t helping matters. Californians are strange. We allow a bunch of crooks from Texas to game our energy system and ruin our economy. We turn around and blame a Democratic Governor for that and throw him out of office as Swartzy sneeks in there. He proceeds to run up bigger debt, more gridlock and does even more fundraising… and people just love him. I’ll never understand it. He may be an engaging personality, but he’s added to the ruin in California. Republicans just can’t be trusted these days even if they call themselves “moderates.”

  37. tuckgraph says:

    Dear Ahnold,

    Before issuing this veto,

  39. Perry logan says:

If Arnie had written the note, it would have spelled out “fickt es.”

  40. EnnuiDivine says:

    38. Perry,

That would translate to “fk it”. If he was going informal, it would be “fick dich”. But, since he was addressing a lawmaker, it would likely be “Ficken Sie”. Have to show respect, you know

  41. pastcaring says:

    #35 NinerFan says:

I agree. Gray Davis (whose recall was funded by Republican Congressman Darrell Issa–who wanted to be governor) was removed for far less than what Swarzenegger has done.

Hey stupid! This is about his veto of state government legislation. Feinstein and Boxer work at the Federal level. God these trolls are morons.

It is NOT funny if you’re a Californian. We need some real statespeople, not movies stars and sycophants. Ronald Reagan and the Gropernator have done a lot of damage.
And yes, without repealing Prop. 13 nothing can ever improve.
Kudos to the Bay Guardian (excellent paper) for noticing this – but how the hell did they do it? I think they must have been tipped off.

  55. dietrich says:

Until you learn to act like a professional, Mr Governor
personally, I don’t see you getting anywhere’
You always remind me of a spoiled child with too much time
    on your hands.
Undoubtedly, you have a huge ego, which is keeping you from
really tackeling the problems confronting us.
So, until you decide to get serious, I will ignore you,

  56. galmud says:

Considering the other more important issues
of today I hardly think its appropriate
infusing invectives into the debate. But
nobody should expect anything less, nor
come as a surprise to the well informed
in the know people of this nation. Like
drunken pigeons in late summer, Arnold,
entrusted the position as Governor knows
nothing or anything he says will go without
criticism. And still he pulls this juvenile
    empty-headed stunt.

May I suggest the Governator abstain from
yellow attacks on opponents in the future

All Mr. Schwarzenegger can do know is to
send a public apology to the assembly
so we can put this story behind us.

  58. lux says:

You know what…. he may be a Republican… but this only makes me like the guy more – though it’s not that clever, it’s been done before – but it has Arnold written all over it, and I don’t find it offensive – I find it to be truthful and innocently funny. It’s written well too.. there’s no obvious spacing issues.. or conspicuous phrasing. Also, I’ve generally felt for him… from what I’ve heard he’s tried many ways to help in California’s financial plight – and every attempt has been shut down by the congress.. Republican or not, he’s alright in my book.

  59. FOIA Gras says:

If California state law allows for veto overrides then the state Assembly/Senate will have the last proverbial middle finger on this issue. Seeing how it passed unanimously it would appear to have the votes.

Gotta admit is was kinda funny though statesmanlike only in its thinly cloaked subtlety.

  60. Crazy Cat Lady says:

As a Californian, I can’t stand him as Governor. I have no problem with people moving to a new career, but his refusal to leave his moviestar personality behind really frustrates me. Like it wasn’t bad enough to have that Idiot-in-Chief, I had to have the Governator in my state too? Barf. I tried to give him a fair shake, but all I get from him is he does not take governing seriously.

This thread though, and the great comments, cracks me up.

  61. getplaning says:

Looks like it was purposeful to me. “I find it unneccessary to sign this measure at this time”? Odd choice of words, if you ask me.

  62. Alejandro says:

The author of the Assembly Bill 1176 is Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, who recently shouted out “You lie!” to Schwarzenegger at a public event.

I’m starting to like this “you lie” stuff. Everyone should do it. I mean, it’s obvious that every politician lies and distorts, but it’s good to shout it out sometimes.
