Rehearsal for an anti-choice protest: ‘Okay, you stand here and she’s gonna whip you with this whip.’

This week, radical anti-choice activist and Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry launched a contest encouraging people to make videos burning House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) in effigy. Today, he and his followers are on Capitol Hill “with signs and costumes, talking to House Staffers as they enter work,” and they plan to visit Pelosi “and discuss with her child-killing in healthcare and ‘the wrath to come.’” ThinkProgress’ Matt Duss caught Terry preparing for this charade this morning, telling one of his followers, “Okay, you stand here and she’s gonna whip you with this whip.”

Randall Terry Protest

Today’s protest is allegedly the first in a series that will last until Nov. 12, designed to “defeat health care.”

  1. USNclerk says:

Can we whip him? I think 60 lashes on The Mall in plain view of everyone would shut this jackass down.

  2. Chyron HR says:

I’m sure somebody will be by any second to explain that Randall Terry is really a liberal plant trying to make Republicans look bad.

  3. spearNmagicHelmet says:

it’s a matter of national security when your opposition party is this mentally unbalanced.

  4. noseeum says:

These people are in serious need of some mental health care.

  5. dbadass says:

I don’t know who the hell they think is gonna be bringing all this wraith but they sure as hell have been taking their good old time with it. Societies have been aborting children for a long ass time…

  6. Little Freep Goofballs says:

    Ca-rack that whip!

  7. Dave N says:

I just read the link above (”the wrath to come”)…

    I believe I need a shower now.

The Lunatic Fringe is seriously disturbed.

  8. EnnuiDivine says:

Yeah, these people are conservative alright. You hear so much talk about conservatives wanting to move the country back to the 1950s; these people want to move back to the 1350s and the Flagellation of the Plagued.

Seriously, these people are sick. Sick to the point where they could use some healthcare reform. Yup.

  9. EnnuiDivine says:

    Ca-rack that whip!

They’re giving the past a slip, alright

  10. cynicalgirl says:

I thought Harry Reid was anti-choice?

  11. USNclerk says:

I still think if he wants to use religious nonsense as a prop, we could oblige him. Maybe if he got a touch of what Jesus received prior to being crucified, he might be a lot less inclined to carry on about Hell and all this other idiocy.

  12. Leftside Annie says:

    Randall Terry, Grand Inquisitor!!

What’s next, Randy, thumbscrews and the rack??

    Sick, sick, sick!

  13. makete says:

Whats that white thingy sticking out from the right side of the photo? Someone getting excited maybe?

  14. Lunaluz says:

Can somebody get these sideshow freaks the commitment to a facility they need, with the correct meds? They do have some value, though, they are running off every person with a few brains, that they are trying to appeal to. Perhaps the authorities are giving these whackos enough rope to hang themselves and they keep getting closer and closer to that line.

  15. shoeless (lesbian wannabe) says:

Why are pro-life people against health care? I was under the impression that health care saved lives.

  16. mike from Arlington says:

    This guy needs a hug.

  17. noseeum says:

    makete says:

I think someones white hood slipped out…

It’s strange, I think we all have that impression. :)

  19. DRxJ says:

Oddly enough, I don’t recall Randall and his ilk protesting the last 8 years under Bush.
And if I’m correct, during his horrendous tenure, abortions did not become illegal.

pseudo-(c)hristians crack me the fck up!

  20. Blackacre says:

I never knew Terry was such a talented director. Is he trying to direct the next “Saw” movie?

  21. Cats r Flyfishn says:

Terry Randall and his group of crazies are more concerned with the unborn then they are about those that are already born. Conception and pregnancy does not guarantee the birth of a live, healthy baby.

  22. Cats r Flyfishn says:

Randall Terry is a promoter of death. The anti-abortion stand is just a cover for his lust for death.

  23. Frugalchariot says:

Whenever I see or hear Randall Terry I’m reminded of the quip spoken by cartoonist Al Capp many years ago (a.i.r., he was speaking of hippies, of flower children): “What I want to know is where were our liberal abortion laws when we really needed them?”

  24. owlbear1 says:

And they’ll get snubbed for the Oscar too!

    Damn You Hollyweird!!!

  25. EnnuiDivine says:

    (badly paraphrased but..)

“If these people are really so pro-life, why aren’t they locking arms and blocking cemetaries? ‘She was 94 years old’ ‘She still had some life in her’ ‘She was hit by a bus!’”

    The immortal Bill Hicks…

  26. Marie says:

Freedom of choice is the law of the land. These fools want to change the law but instead they advertise their zealous lunacy. This is supposed to continue for two weeks? I don’t think so. Crazies are always camping out in the capitol, but they are kept within a certain boundary.
Capitol police will find a way to stop this ridiculous show of stupidity.

  27. DRxJ says:

Excuse me for one second, as I am an uneducated tree huggin’ pot smokin’ baby killin’ moron.
But what does Nancy and Harry have to do with the Supreme Court’s decision of Roe vs Wade?

  28. evangenital says:

    That pig is an adulterer.

The penalty for adulterers in Leviticus is death by stoning.

Where are the fundamentalists on this?

They can’t seem to get enough of the fundamentalist spin on other passages from Leviticus, but they are strangely silent and “non-fundamentalist” on this one.

    Where is the consistency?

    WTF is up, holy rollers?

Are certain passages of Leviticus to be stidently enforced, but others to be ignored?

  29. Leftside Annie says:

27 – DRxJ – seriously, dude, do you expect those lunatics to actually make sense…?

    Get real, man.

  30. Sandoz76 says:

“it’s a matter of national security when your opposition party is this mentally unbalanced”

For effing real. I’m ready for an international job search. This S#$t is bananas.

  31. 5th Estate says:

Whilst it’s commendable that Randall Terry is protesting US torture policy as symbolized by the chains and the whips, he’s arrived to late on the scene because—What?

Chains + whips = abortion?!! Really?!!

I wonder what he’s going to use to symbolize his opposition to Cap and Trade? Nipple clamps and hot wax?

  32. hellinabucket says:

Rehearsal? These people have to rehearse? I thought they had a god given natural talent to be as vile as possible. Didn’t know they had to practice being repulsive.

  33. LibertyLover says:

    Randall Terry — Hyperbolic much?

  34. RUCerious says:

    Randall Terry’s Death Panel Party?

  36. A Patriot Acting says:

True Christians support helping those in need. The zealots at Operation Rescue are as dangerous a lot as any faction of religious fanatics. Terry Hill is a charlatan and an all around @sshole. Someone should ask him why a Republican led Congress, Senate, White House and a right-leaning SCOTUS never even brought up the issue of abortion the whole time that they had control in DC.
Does he think that Republicans actually give a shit about overturning Roe v. Wade? Terry Hill is a domestic terrorist and should be treated as such. I still feel that Operation Rescue and Terry Hill should have been implicated as an accomplice to Roeder in the murder of Dr. Tiller back in May. There seemed to be quite a bit of damning evidence connecting Roeder to Hill’s group coming out in the days after the murder. Particularly, on the day of the murder a sticky note was found on Roeper’s dashboard with the name “Cheryl-Oper Rescue” on it with her phone number.Cheryl Sullenger, senior policy adviser for Operation Rescue has admitted to giving Roeder details regarding Tiller’s whereabouts several times in the past but claimed “who knew” when asked exactly why she thought Roeder was repeatedly reaching out to her for this info. Sullenger, by the way, served about two years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiring to bomb an abortion clinic in California in 1988.

  37. missmolly says:

OK, I’m confused. If Randall Terry’s complaint is abortion funding, why isn’t he taking his bizarre vaudeville act over to his buddy Dobson and the Focus on the Family crew?

After all, THEIR insurance premiums are going to fund abortions, too.

Oh — and has anyone looked at what insurance company Operation Rescue uses?

  38. hellinabucket says:

I believe Operation Rescue’s insurance company is Leeches and Preaches.

  39. evangenital says:

Whenever you vote for a repiggie, even for local office, you are voting to approve Randall Terry’s nonsense.

That whole repiggie party is in thrall to the “morality” bullies and the anti-choice
    psychopaths.

  40. EnnuiDivine says:

It’s almost as if Randall Terry won’t be happy until his viscious rhetoric gets someone kille….nevermind. He seemed positively overjoyed when Tiller was murdered.

In the name and interest of free speech, this bullshit is legal. And should remain that way.

There needs to be a well organized counter-protest, though.

  41. 5th Estate says:

If the GOP really wanted to make abortions illegal they had from 2001 to 2006 to do it whilst they had total control over the House, the Senate, the Executive and the Supreme Court.

Logically Randall Terry and his ilk should have been protesting the Bush and the Republicans for the utter failure to make good on a cause they’ve used for 36 years to keep their religious base riled-up and voting.

Of course logically Randall Terry should be in a lunatic asylum or a sanitarium for the irretrievably stupid (along with vast majority of Republican Reps and Senators).

  42. christopher wiwi says:

Child killing? Is that supposed to mean Abortion?as far as anyone knows we don`t have a bill and if we did it will not cover abortion because the Hyde Amendment says no federal money can be used to pay for abortions,You lie Mr.Terry!!!!!!
Take your hate back to your RED states that ahve the highest rates of ten pregnancy and teen STD`s and Medicaid and tell these folks to invoke the Tenther`s decree, the federal gov`t is unconstitional along with he Constituton.

  43. RUCerious says:

And here I thought that morality plays were so 15th centuryish.

  44. deebaser says:

wow. that post just gave me my recommended daily allowance of ‘Whhhhhaaaaaaa?’

  45. aquarius2 says:

Randall Terry is a vile piece of slime. Divorced his wife to marry a church worker 17 years his junior. Disowned his adopted son because the son was gay. Let his 16 year old adopted daughter run off and had nothing to do with her when she had two births out of wedlock.

Now this piece of excrement lists only his second wife and children as his family, totally refusing to acknowledge his first family and failure as a father, husband and human being.

  46. Shayne says:

These are Sarah Palin’s peeps. When she runs for president it would be nice to have video of all these acts compiled so that voters can see what they’d be getting.

  47. Perry logan says:

It’s a variation on “voodoo economics.”

  48. Dr. Hussein Matt says:

    Talibaptist = Taliban

  49. 5th Estate says:

A Patriot Acting says: True Christians support helping those in need.

But “true christians” also have to believe that Jesus was and is the son of God and indivisible from God, and God is a self vindicate sadistic murdering entity who likes barbecues and approves of whoring, adultery and incest amongst his acowed followers–so says the Holey Bibble.

Helping those in need is NOT an exclusive mark of the Christian religion and its not a prerequisite for people to help those in need. The ‘godless’ Indians for example helped the Pilgrims when they were in need.

An awful lot of “Christian” aid is provided NOT to simply help the unfortunate, but to impose on them and recruit them.

There’s no such thing as a “true Christian” in my view, there’s just the empathetic mildly deluded “Christians” and then the utterly selfish and utterly deluded “Christians” and it is the latter that define Christianity because they organize it and control it for their own deranged ends.

  50. Cal Malenky says:

Proof that liberals aren’t violent and dangerous:
Nobody has taken a shot at Randall Terry.

  51. fletc3her says:

  52. dbadass says:

Well it be running on FOX? “When Whackjobs and Kooks Go Wild”

  53. Xisithrus says:

Randall Terry is a friend of Hannities. This has the odor of astroturfing.

  54. The Dogfather says:

Maybe if Randall Scary wanted people to take this bit of kabuki seriously, he should have had someone other than Sarah Palin wearing the Nancy Pelosi mask…

  55. Xisithrus says:

Terry probably has no problem with children women and men dying in the apocalypse/armageddon scenario so he can float off to heaven in his new light body. Ironically Daryll recently told us that the devil was light or a fallen angel.

If you think you are doing gods work by inciting violence, I suggest you think again.

  56. dietrich says:

There isn’t a strong enough anti-psychotic drug to help Terry.
    tony and lido

  57. Rab says:

What, no repug trolls out there to defend this nut job? This is one of your own, come on and help this sorry ass whacko.

  58. Bobwurst says:

I would loveto see a satirical singing/acting group ala “Billionaires for Wealthcare” kind to come up with a satirical mockery of these anti-choicer’s. I think it would put their movement in the proper perspective. Seriously, these people have shut down vocal support for abortion by their intimidation.

  59. Game of Life says:

I beg to differ with the posters who call his nonsense “pro-life,” they are anti-choice. I’m pro-life but I leave the “option” of choosing to the woman.

    They are “anti-choice” nuts.

Also it looks like the “wrath” is already in play for the repugs.

  60. Buckie Boy says:

These people are insane…it really says alot about them.

Sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick.

  61. ElBruce says:

What does any of this guy’s activities have to do with attempting to outlaw abortion? If I was a wingnut who donated money to his group to get abortion outlawed, and he spent any of it on crazy stunts like this to defeat the public option, I’d be piiisssed…

  62. maxamillion says:

Why is Randell Terry still free and alive???

  63. EmTee says:

    5th Estate says:

This almost made me spit out my tea! Thanks for the much-needed laugh!

  64. Zooey says:

Republicans will never allow abortion to be outlawed.

    NEVER!!!!

There is nothing else that will get the fetus-huggers out of their trailers and into the voting booth.

  65. Zooey says:

I know that’s supposed to be Nancy Pelosi in the picture, but it looks like Sarah Palin.

    Just sayin’…

  66. eyesopen says:

Whoa, kinky! Did Randall Terry get off on it right then and ther, or did he use some sort of tantric technique to save it up? I’ll bet he can’t wait to get back to church to cleanse his dirty, dirty self…until next time.

  67. LizCoro says:

Betcha all my halloween candy that Randy wears pink panties under his Dockers . .

THESE extremists all have something to hide, usually it’s a sexual proclivity!!

  68. MapleStreet says:

‘Okay, you stand here and she’s gonna whip you with this whip.’

Is this an S&M movie ?+

  69. katy says:

what i saw of that contest video, it sure seemed like that guy
was really wired up… i’d guess the meth, but wired anyway…

  70. blclem says:

When you talk about pro-choice, I assume you are talking about the right of the woman to choose to keep her baby and not just abortion. Am I right.

  71. cd says:

It must drive some people crazy to know that Randall Terry and Nancy Pelosi are part of the same Church.

Go ahead try to claim they think alike.
