In an interview with the Washington News Observer, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) revealed that, next week in Washington, D.C., the right wing is trying to galvanize yet another mass protest rally against health reform.
Following in the spirit of the “tea party” protests in April and the Glenn Beck-inspired 9/12 rally, Bachmann announced, “We’re going to have a ‘house call’ and a big party out on the National Mall [next week], and we’re going to tell Congress what they can do with their health care bill.”
Fashioning herself as the leader of this mass protest, Bachmann exhorted everyone to “get off the couch, get in your car, get a van together, get a bus together, but get here! We’re going to have a ‘house call’ next week, and we need every American to be here.” She then issued this dire warning (infused with pop culture references):
The American people realize this is it. Just like that brand new Michael Jackson movie came out, ‘This Is It.’ This is it for freedom. If you believe in liberty, and if you’re rejecting tyranny, this is it. Dr. Mark Levin wrote a seminal book that really swept this country called Liberty and Tyranny. And that’s what this debate is about next week. Liberty and tyranny.

What does she mean by “next week”? I’m going to be right by the Mall around the 12th and 13th and I would hate to miss such a golden opportunity. If I need to watch the video to find out, I’ll never know.

Bat-sh*t crazy little Shelley Bachmann is getting scared. With the election of Dougie Hoffman on the horizon, she’s afraid that she’s going to lose her crown as chief nut-bag so she’s spreading around the crazy as much as possible before next Tuesday’s special election.

Mr. Duke is a typical Republican. He doesn’t believe anybody ever did anything except for being selfish. And he doesn’t believe people would buy insurance if they could because it’s the right thing to do. Here’s a news flash. It is obvious you have no facts so you resort to this kind of screed. Typical right wing response. As I requested, facts please. Since you have no facts, I await your next childish rant.
October 31st, 2009 at 4:31 pmMr Duke says:
For profit health care is what spurs innovation in the medical field. No profit motive. No motivation to develop medical innovation. Pretty simple concept.
With all due respect, I would say that’s a “pretty simple-minded view”. You have clearly proven yourself to be someone who feels that if you can’t make a profit off it, it isn’t worth doing. Are profits the only thing that you believe capable of motivating innovation?
What about necessity? If astronomers discover that an asteroid capable of wipiong out life on Earth were headed our weay, and an expensive but vitally necessary solution was possible, would you say that it was only worth doing of someone could make a profit off it? Wouldn’t saving the planet be motivation enough?
What about altruism? What about a humane concern for those less fortunate than ourselves? Are you one of those “compassionate conservatives” (a term which refers to someone who is normally neither “compassionate” nor “conservative”)? Do you believe those less fortunate than you deserve to be that way?
I think that’s one of the differences between you and me, Mr. Duke. To be driven solely by profits is selfish and greedy. I believe that there are people out there who are driven by altruism, by their concern for the benefit of their fellow human beings, by their belief that we are all in this together, and that there can be enough, even more than enough in some cases, for everyone if we did away with encouraging greed and selfishness.
And if either of us ever need help from the either, I don’t get the idea that I could count on your willingness to help me, let alone your actual help. But do understand that if I was ever in a situation where sacrificing my life could save yours, I would. Because that’s just the kind of person I am.
October 31st, 2009 at 4:31 pmMost of the medical research in this country is done by not-for-profit universities, actually. The big drug companies favor creating drugs you don’t really need, for conditions and diseases that haven’t been invented yet, because for profit businesses must forever be growing or they are dying. In other words, logically speaking, for profit healthcare relies upon the deteriorating health of Americans for a healthy bottom line.
Asking “Do you work for free?” is beyond disingenuous. People who work for non-profits do not work for free. People who work in socialized medicine in other countries do not work for free. The real question is why can so many of us not see the inhumanity of profiting from the suffering of others?
October 31st, 2009 at 4:34 pmIn addition nobody is saying medical companies shouldn’t make profits. That’s just more right wing nonsense.

My feeling is, if you can’t take it, don’t dish it out. It’s a two way street. But the discussion here is about healthcare. That comment wasn’t.
October 31st, 2009 at 4:40 pmWhat about all those government grants that publically fund research, which is then used by the pharmaceutical companies to develop products for which they can get patents? Without the publically-funded research, many of the new drugs would never be invented.
For example, publically-funded research might discover that certain types of plants help with certain medical conditions. Pharmaceutical companies would then build on that research to develop new drugs. They wouldn’t have spent the money that discovered this trait of certain plants on their own in the first place, because the results were too uncertain to risk the R&D money. So they wait to find out what publically-funded research learns and narrows their research accordingly.
At least, that’s how I understand it to usually work. Phamraceuticals rarely do all the research from beginning to end. They relie heavily on publicly-funded science to narrow their own R&D focus. And they reap all the financial benefits.

October 31st, 2009 at 5:10 pmThe belief that all human behavior is prompted by a certain set of attitudes or emotions is Sophomoric (or Sophomorinic), to say the least.
Xisithrus says it quite well. emotions/traits such as greed and selfishness are not the tools of creating; they are corrosive, and destructive. This why most religions consider such behavior “sins”.
It is greed, selfishness and abject stupidity that has put our Country and the Earth in such a perilous position. These traits or beliefs will do NOTHING to save us.

Ok, what about this. I am 62 years old and have worked hard all my life. I have only been on unemployment twice before and both times for a very few months. I was laid off my job in March and have little chance of finding another due to my age, where I live and the current economic climate. Because of this, when my unemployment runs out in January I will have to take early retirement which will be $1,100 a month. My COBRA subsidy also runs out in January. That means I will be without health insurance as of January, 2010. Now, please tell me what I did to deserve this. Tell me how it’s because I’m lazy and don’t want to work. Tell me that I brought this upon myself. Because that’s what all you right wing creeps think.

October 31st, 2009 at 6:21 pmThe actual number to attend the rally will be determined by a growth function, 6x^(6). One rationalization of the anti-public option folks, is to say :We have the best medical system in the world (without offering any supporting evidence) BECAUSE it is so expensive.”
In their philosophy anything expensive = high quality.
The second part of their thesis is: “If our medical system is made available to everyone, it will no longer be “the best”.”
To them a pubic health system would be the equivalent of rip-off or bootleg designer fashion items. If I carry a ‘fake’ Coach handbag bought at a flea mart, I devalue the rich person’s $400.00 Coach handbag. And they don’t want that! They highly value their access to our Wonderful Best Healthcare In The World; it is a status symbol. Sharing it would make it ordinary. They would have to think up (or have invented for them) a NEW exclusionary Status Symbol.

Remember, this is the same woman who claims she’s heard “nothing but support” for her batscat agenda. I think that’s because she’s so far around the bend that communications from the world of cause and effect don’t even reach her. She’s utterly oblivious to the reality we sane people share.

October 31st, 2009 at 6:43 pmTo go backward, put it in R.
To go forward, put it in D.
My party is no longer the local party. We’re the big government party and loving every second of it. So if your NY repub candidate isn’t conservative enough, we will poke our nose in until we get the candidate we want. F uck you locals. You make the decision we want you to make. Conservative principles are for demlibs to follow.
October 31st, 2009 at 6:45 pmdoes it matter?
October 31st, 2009 at 6:48 pm—-
“It just doesn’t matter. it just doesn’t matter”
A lot of medical research is going on in Europe and in Asia, where the “profit” incentive is understood rather differently than here.
Repiggie trolls have yet to demonstrate why the bankrupting of so many average U.S. citizens is good for medical research
October 31st, 2009 at 6:48 pmNice, dbadass. Haven’t had a good Meatballs quote around here for ages.

Try Windows 7.
October 31st, 2009 at 7:02 pmWhen is Bachmann’s seat going up for election?
I hope Minnesota fields a strong progressive who will send her drowning in one of Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes.
October 31st, 2009 at 7:05 pmOh, Intrepid, I think you’re wrong. Republicans are very backward-compatible.
It’s the forward-compatibility they have trouble with.
Big, big trouble.
October 31st, 2009 at 7:11 pmDr Venture you are ENTITLED to contempt and scorn for being an ignorant punkass troll. I know you THINK you are clever but you are NOT. You are stupid and pathetic
October 31st, 2009 at 7:11 pmMr Duke you are stupid we get that but even YOU cant really beleive you KNOW our circumstances. Thus you are a LIAR as well as an ignorant pile of dogshit. Just STFU you are too stupid to be taken seriously
October 31st, 2009 at 7:13 pmMr.Duke says:
——————————————————————————–
Someone or some company developed all that medical equipment and medicine. They were/are paid for their product and/or service.
Yep. For instance, one of the leading contributors to medical advancement is NASA, and they’re paid for by the US Government.
October 31st, 2009 at 7:16 pmDuke you are pathetic. You are stupid and brainwashed and have no idea what you are talking about. All you do is regurgitate the STUPID you have been programmed with. We understand that you are too stupid to think for yourself. If you think for one second your inane and cliched regurgitations of what Rush TOLD you to think make you anything but a pathetic loser, then you are even stupider and more delusional than I would have thought possible
October 31st, 2009 at 7:16 pmDuke you ignorant punkass troll. You are so stupid it is just sad. The entire world isnt as selfish and soulless as you are. Your projection is hilarious. We KNOW you are stupid, selfish and soulless. FOAD punk
October 31st, 2009 at 7:21 pmDoes anybody else get the feeling that Crazy Shelly is just jumping on the G-NO-P bandwagon with this “Let’s have a protest!” charades?
It’s like the Republican version of “Let’s clear out the barn put on a show!”
October 31st, 2009 at 7:25 pmTaxol a very important cancer drug was discovered by the NCI with taxpayer dollars and researched with an NIH grant every BIT of research done with taxpayer dollars. A good portion of the NEW drugs not drugs changed a bit to protect the patent are done exacly this way. Then they are GIVEN to private drug companies to make their profits from. Public cost. Private profit. Ignorant, brainwashed morons like Duke applaud this and want poor people to DIE so they will stop being a drag on his economy. It is the most pathetic thing in existance to be as stupid, selfish and soulless as Duke is
October 31st, 2009 at 7:26 pmI think Shelly is suffering from Sara envy so she is calling for anything that might compete with her failing speaker schedule and soon to fail book.
In fact, it appears most of the Conservative types are just grabbing at any sound bite that keeps them in the public eye. I guess being laughed at is better than being ignored. Obviously they have been hanging out with the trollies.

Not me. I am “entitled” to taxpayer funded entitlements. I will wait for the welfare/nanny state to take care of my needs. I will trade my freedom for those entitlement goodies. For I am a loser.
I shall translate for kws…
“Not me. I am “entitled” to march on behalf of corporate America. I shall wait for its orders to take care of my thinking. I will trade my freedom for my marching orders from Michelle Bachmann, Dick Armey, and Glenn Beck…”

He doesn’t realize that if corporate America would order him to kill himself, he would…which is what he’s doing…voting against his economic best interests. It’s what the rich have always done to split everyone and make them turn on each other. Pawns like him have always succumbed to corporate America’s viciousness in tearing those who would have a common economic interest apart…
October 31st, 2009 at 7:39 pmShelly, how about a novel thought here. Why don’t you go back to your district and put out this call to see what your constituents, you know, the people who elected you, have to say about your ideas? You do remember them, right?
October 31st, 2009 at 7:40 pmAll the troll-repugs need to march on D.C. and demand the right to have no health care. Let themselves die to show how independent they are from the rest of us.
October 31st, 2009 at 7:41 pmO/T sorry, I am so fcking pissed right now. I visit crooks and liars everyday. Today I tried to register so I could comment. I was attacked, I have a virus. Im using a family members pc right now. I have no idea what to do about it. My brother is going to come to my place tomorrow and fix it for me. Has anyone else experienced this problem with C&L.
October 31st, 2009 at 7:44 pmAny input would be greatly appreciated.
Dr Venture. We understand how stupid you are. We understand YOU are a MOOCH by nature and would think it natural to take advantage of anyones decency. It is just the kind of selfish soulless weasel you are. Most people however are not LIKE you they have two things you are too stupid and souless to even comprehend. That is integrity and decency. I know you will never understand those two concepts

Yes, I, KWS, will luxuriate in being able to flush my toilet, drink from my tap, put my trash on the curb, drive on the roads, expect the fire department if I need them, same with the police, board a commercial airplane, send my kids to school (ok, this one is a scary thought), feel safe eating the food I buy in the grocery store and the many other entitlements I have enjoyed my entire fricking life while I stand here, being smug and superior, while I rail against all the horrible things my elected government has done.
PS, I don’t have to say I don’t have to worry about my parent’s health care because I was hatched from a bit of radioactive slime.
October 31st, 2009 at 7:53 pmIt began with the RAND corporation after WWII. Capitalism-vs-Communism. Then during the enviornmental social consciousness movement, regulations and Nader ETC., big business was caught flat-footed so they began funding all the spooky right-wing corporate think-tanks during the 70s, 80s, and 90s up to now and we see the results. You have many people who are so brainwashed, they’re a serious threat to life for us and themselves.
October 31st, 2009 at 7:57 pmMany people have weak minds and are susceptible to corporate advertising/propaganda. It’s remarkable how tenaciously they cling to it despite being proved wrong. I see one relentless post after another from them at the top of the thread and others even after being voted down and off the screen. It’s also unnerving, that aspect of human nature.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:02 pmMr Cobb
Well Dr Venture has NO MIND AT ALL. He knows what he thinks just as soon as Rush tells him.

October 31st, 2009 at 8:13 pmWhy did you resign?
Mr Duke says:
For profit health care is what spurs innovation in the medical field. No profit motive. No motivation to develop medical innovation. Pretty simple concept.
The spurred innovations I have seen crated are drugs for erectile dysfunction and not the very needed drugs to cure AIDS, skin infection,….
But then, maybe THIS IS your cup of tea and suits you just fine.

I am reminded of a saying associated with The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. DON’T PANIC!
Get on your normal PC and contact the site (contact us), and explain it. They very much want you to be able to view their content. Using the Internet is not some kind of race, it doesn’t really make any difference how long it takes to resolve it.
Worst case scenario, just get yourself a router that can do a proxy IP and all your problems will be solved.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:18 pmFor profit health care is what spurs innovation in the medical field.
So that is why they advertise all their wonder drugs that have side effects like killing your liver to cure skin rashes? Now I understand why they encourage people to ask their doctors about expensive drugs because obviously doctors would never think of offering a patient a decent possible choice. So simple.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:21 pmUmmm, if by “all americans”, you actually mean 40,000 or 50,00 people marching on the Mall in Washington D.C, then 3 words (and I’ll try to say this as slowly and in capital letters too): BRING IT ON!! This should be interesting… Especially since I live like 20mins outside of DC (Northern Virginia), and if there really is millions of people there next week, then I’d notice that….
October 31st, 2009 at 8:32 pmHey Duke! When was the last time Big Pharma came up with a drug that actually cured something? They are pretty good at doing the treat the symptoms forever thing but cure?
October 31st, 2009 at 8:33 pm“The American people” only refers to the southern conservative nuts, the 15% hardcore minority that supports wingnuts like Bachmann and Beck. They are insignificant.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:35 pmKWS: Look, greed is good and Reagan proved that deficits dont matter.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:35 pmOh and BTW, there was not 700,000 people at the 9/12 march. If there was, I would have noticed, since it would have created all sorts of traffic problems in Northern Virginia and other areas outside of DC, which I didn’t notice. I only saw one tourbus out that day, but that’s not unusual (we get a lot of school groups or whatever almost all the time and they always have to stay here in Fairfax, since it’s cheaper for them to stay here than it is for them to stay in DC).
October 31st, 2009 at 8:38 pmThe Inaguration, ontoh, created massive chaos and confusion every where, especially on the roads and highways leading to the ceremony, so I could easily see it reaching over 1 million people…
The whole open source computer movmement is based on helping each other and not greed and profit.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:40 pmIt will eventually bury Microsoft and Apple. It is the operating of ants, and the ants always win. THAT is what scares the shit our of Rethugnikkkans, and they get the trolls to spew their talking points.
If society was only based on greed, then it would have self-destructed.
The most hypocritical thing about this whole Healthcare BS is that Hospitals were ALL started as non-profits. HELLO!!!!!!
For profit health care is what spurs innovation in the medical field.
Except we arent talking health care here as insurance companies do not provide the actual care and their offices are not full of trained medical personnel. Please differentiate the two for debates sake. Thank You and have a great All Hallows Eve.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:40 pmThe ideal site for a healthcare protest would be in northwest Afghanistan. No traffic jams and no expense for the return trip. A garbage scow from the west coast followed by a serene bike ride to the protest site would be a once in a lifetime experience.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:42 pmHoodathunk@140, Good point. If a company came up with a cure for the common cold I dont think it would ever be released. Meds for the common cold is a billion dollar business. Lobbiest for the drug makers would pay off politicians to make sure that a cure is never released to the public.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:45 pmI thought about being a virulent sexist for Halloween but I’m still figuring how to pull that one off.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:46 pmAnd even if we were debating government health care, like the military uses, which does train medical professionals who enter the private medical field, do get actual paychecks just like the enlisted.
Unfortunately illness and injury spurs innovation and without that there would be no need for health care or any of the products, equipment and supplies that businesses do create and profit from. Again this issue is about lowering health insurance and thereby health care costs. No one is denying the medical field should profit from health care to pay salaries and expand the medical field the peoples needs
October 31st, 2009 at 8:46 pmAnd most “medical advances” that an industray can use is made with PUBLIC money THROUGH Government consortiums and/or Unviersities. Corporate “Inventions or findings” remain just that…private property. The patnet laws should be changed such that any patent that is assigned to a corporation, the corporation has X years (maybe 5) to bring the patent to market or it goes public. This would bring invention out of the backrooms and portfolios of these corporate greedy pricks, and advance intellecutal discovery.
KILL THE CORPORATION, ALL OF THEM.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:47 pmOh and the Republicans too, starting with the trolls.
For profit health care is what spurs innovation in the medical field.
It is so comforting to know that medical professionals are only spurred to greater effort by the idea of how much money they put in their pocket. They spend all that time and effort in school because they think about whats in it for me. Very comforting to know.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:47 pmThat stupid cow used to be a nanny.
So much for any sort of professional qualifications to speak on medical care…
Help send that dingaling back to private life, and contribute to her Dem opponent in next year’s race.

October 31st, 2009 at 8:48 pmHere’s a thought about “freedom.”
October 31st, 2009 at 8:51 pmIf a company came up with a cure for the common cold I dont think it would ever be released. Meds for the common cold is a billion dollar business
innovation in that case is coming up with catchy cold commercials, names and exaggerated claims of feeling better.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:52 pmI have my Loud Odd halloween costume on and someone just left a shotgun shell at the front door.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:54 pmOh, that was snark
October 31st, 2009 at 8:55 pmWell, Bob McDonnell can pull that one off when he wins Nov. 4th. Sorry, folks, I wish I could make parody out of that one, but Cree Deeds officially knocked himself with his knee-jerk willingness to opt-out of the public option.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:55 pmCorporations don’t cure, they feed. They don’t want challenges to move forward, they want to make money off what is for as long as they can.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:58 pmAnd most “medical advances” that an industray can use is made with PUBLIC money THROUGH Government consortiums and/or Unviersities.
I have also noticed that big pharma, given we know pretty much what drugs/chemicals do what, will take an old medicine and re-engineer it and create a ‘new’ drug by making some not signifcant molecular change then make TV commercials for it so people will ask their doctors for that medication which the big drug folks have given many samples of to the doctors.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:02 pmReally? Where is the cure for cancer or any other major advance that comes from American research?
The “socialist” countries are making advances that boggle the mind while the “for profit” companies in America are making hard on pills.
I’m tired of this old lie. Show me or stop using it.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:02 pmCree Deeds?
October 31st, 2009 at 9:04 pm“Hoodathunk says:

Please, spell her with the H – I refuse the share a spelling with that hideous thing.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:06 pmThe “socialist” countries are making advances that boggle the mind while the “for profit” companies in America are making hard on pills.
Its like brian nausea to say this, but Rush thinks hard on pills are good for what ails America.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:06 pmI believe it was the famous artist, Norman Rockwell, who painted a series illustrating the Four Freedoms. Speech. Religion. I forget the third one :(
One I do recall is the Freedom From Want. It’s a painting of a family that’s about to enjoy their thanksgiving dinner. Young and old all at the same table. Vintage Rockwell.
Well… If a family is facing Bankruptcy because of a Medical Condition…something UNKNOWN in every other Developed Country… then they have lost some their FREEDOM. And thru No fault of their own. They just got unlucky and got sick.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:07 pmHi Zooey, @154 Like that guy said if you dont want your health insurance through your employer than you have the option to get it through the gov. Having a choice that best fits your families needs is all that Obama is trying to provide. Why the h*ll are repugs and thier wingnut followers against healthcare for their fellow Americans?
October 31st, 2009 at 9:08 pmbrain nausea. Geebs. I need to start drinking my spelling has been awful as of late.

riiight…
October 31st, 2009 at 9:09 pmWhenever I have trouble thinking, I think of money. It gets my creative, my innovative juices flowing. Put the science books, math books and teachers away. As long as you have money and banks to hold the money your thinking capacity will be ok.

Another problem with our lack of innovation is that women are withholding sex at a rate higher than ever before. That causes widespread mental blockage and frustration and hurts our competitiveness.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:12 pmWhy the h*ll are repugs and thier wingnut followers against healthcare for their fellow Americans?
Ironic isnt it. They are willing to spend trillions in foreign military operations where hundreds of thousands have died by spending nearly a trillion a year supporting the MIC.
Now that is one industry that profits do create innovation, unfortunately its very often in finding new ways to kill people.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:13 pmAnother problem with our lack of innovation is that women are withholding sex at a rate higher than ever before.
I heard that their is a psychologist that has a restroom stall in his office for guys that have been subjected to the horrors of rejection complete with toe tapping music piped in with airport sounds while the psychologist occupies the adjacent stall.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:18 pmdr dbunk, how long before you start calling us intolerant after we scorch you for any ignorance you might provide?
Good to see that you have no intentions of having a ratinal discussion because odds are you have nothing to say that makes any sense.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:19 pmrational, not ratinal
October 31st, 2009 at 9:20 pmHey, I’m game, Michelle. Bring it on. Both sides of this issue could meet at the mall! Isn’t that what Bushy said, “bring it on”? I love liberty too and passing health care reform means more liberty to me and everyday Americans. What an FN nut, crazy btch. Take her threat seriously and trust me, the idiots will march. We need a show of force in favor of reform!
October 31st, 2009 at 9:20 pmBut then, there’s all a lot s#!t wherever neo-socialists are.

Don’t worry, you won’t be able to do that here.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:20 pmVarious ignorant trolls say:
For profit health care is what spurs innovation in the medical field. No profit motive. No motivation
Tell me what innovation is provided by HEALTH INSURANCE companies??? The point for a long time now, that has been greatly missed, is that the health insurance companies provide NOTHING. Not ‘figuratively’ nothing.. I mean honestly and truly – nothing! They offer no innovation.. no improvement.. no benefit – they offer nothing but a situation where they can make money from providing denial of service.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:20 pmBut then, there’s all a lot s#!t wherever neo-socialists are.
Why do trolls have this fixation with neo?

October 31st, 2009 at 9:21 pmdebunker reminds me of Barney Fife. He comes in with guns a blazin but no bullets.
Odd that a member of a party that has failed so miserably thinks he has the high ground. Delusional I guess.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:22 pmThe repiggie trolls are here throwing their insults because their own white-wing sites are so goddamned boring.
It’s like NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD in repiggieland.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:22 pmLook, you’ve articulated all the f ucking ways which we’re supreme hypocrits. We’re for a gigantous defense, even if it lends no real hand to the military. Just ask Darryl. People need to be dying so that few remain as the victors. This goes for our healthycare system as well. Hand out contracts to the bloated so there’s no real incentive to deliver for the little guy. Too big to fail must be protected, including the establishment that grew 35% under George W. Bush.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:24 pmhey debunker, debunk the myth of a leader in the republican party for us. Can you live up to your name?
October 31st, 2009 at 9:24 pmWhy do trolls have this fixation with neo?
IIRC the word neon was used by Anaxagoras to describe the new light that reflected from Selene. Not much new light coming from our enon [old light] friend Dee Bunker.

October 31st, 2009 at 9:36 pmWomen have it too good these days and need to be returned to their traditional roles for willing men. That includes looking good for the working man after he comes in after a long day and keeping herself sensual. Young women today are being indoctrinated by liberals that its ok to be extremely choosy when looking for a man, preferring bad boys over well-mannered, humble men. What the liberals do is encourage women to dress provocatively as a way to taunt good men that you can’t touch this. They are wrecking the natural course of humanity.

Heh,
October 31st, 2009 at 9:39 pmNew blood is so important to this troll. I guess subconscious bloodlust rises to the surface on Halloween. You might call it a Freudian slip of a desire for blood.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:40 pmIt shouldn’t be long before new blood takes root.
So now plants are smarter than trolls?
October 31st, 2009 at 9:41 pmspeaking of that, maybe you could list some of the major successful programs that the gop can lay claim to. Better just shoot for one and “freedom” don’t count.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:41 pmthat’s the problem when everybody engages in one big circle jerk.
Ever had a Limp Biscuit DB? You seem tobe quite familiar with the process, a little too knowledgeable.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:41 pmHey bunk, you spent the day on firedoglake disrupting the threads and now your here to try and do the same thing.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:41 pmThats the problem with repugs and wingnuts like you.
You have no ideas on how to better our country, and you dont give a rats ass about helping out your fellow Americans.
You clowns just disrupt everything that Obama is trying to do.
The fcked up thing about it is that people like you who are disrupting everything are the ones who will benifit the most by his policies. Support for the repug party is shrinking everyday. Repugs and their leaders(beck, limpo, hannity, orielly, savage) hurt the party everyday with their lies and crap they just make up as they go along.
Its freakin hilarious that they are so stupid that they dont even realize the damage they are causing. Good riddance!
I think dr djunk got got his first period.
Everyone clap!!

I mean, people don’t believe me when I tell them about tools like bunk but when you can show them posts like we’ve witnessed tonight its like they do the work for us.
thanks bunk.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:45 pmPaging dr bunk, paging dr. bunk
Aren’t we the party of local control?
Hoff got most of his money from outside the district, and apparently doesn’t even reside in the district.
Our party just sent a signal that we’ll be purifying the landscape. Because we haven’t tried that in 2006 and 2008, apparently.
Too bad that doesn’t take majorities.
When folks complain that our product is too much, what that means is they can’t get enough.
Would you admit Newt is right on this one, dr? Because if you knew any beter, you’d admit our party is a bunch of whiny baby hypocrits. GOP, the big government party.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:45 pmI think dr djunk got got his first period.
Naw, some of the ink from the made in China doll rubbed off on them.
You should wear have protected sex with that doll DB you could get lead poisoning.

No whining, now. It’s not becoming.
Did you come here for any other purpose than to troll? You did arrive with your rather dubious resume pinned to your grimy shirt.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:49 pmStupid too? I told you I would remind you of your first post here tonight, remember it? You branded yourself.
Read your ignorant opening salvo by clicking here.
What happened to the party of personal responsibility. Are you just a pussy?
October 31st, 2009 at 9:50 pmIt strikes me as hysterical(and I don’t mean funny) to be labeled a troll when I’ve been here for 5 minutes.
It didn’t take that long.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:50 pmHoffman is not republican, he is a conservative. Big difference.
You will have to define conservative for me as the word was coined by a French guy who wanted to keep preserve the ‘old order’ one of kings clergy and powerless masses.
Are you a enon-conservative DB?

Actually you self identified as a troll when you first posted seeing as your intent was to stir the shit as you say. The time? O minutes and O seconds to qualify yourself as a troll.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:52 pmzooey, how long do you think before he starts whining about how intolerant we are?
I got to tell ya, my little girls were tougher than this whimp when they were 5 years old.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:54 pmDr bunk wonders why he is already spotted as a troll after he says, “the company is less than impressive” and that we are engaging in a circle jerk.
This is one dumb troll folks.
October 31st, 2009 at 9:54 pmI wonder if it has ever occured to our enon-cons that chess is actually represents the old order.
You have the King, the Queen, the Bishop and the Pawns who represent the ignorant who are used to go and die for the pseudo aretes
October 31st, 2009 at 9:55 pmdr. cobb, our party is descending into a dictatorship because they can’t get what they want. We have no business poking our nose like this in a local election if we are to be the party of decentralized control. You’re getting what you didn’t pay for. The folks of NY-23 aren’t getting what they paid for. Doesn’t that make you a teat-sucking freeloader?
Well, we’re pretty good at screwing people out of the healthcare they paid for. What’s an election?
October 31st, 2009 at 9:56 pmWho wants to be a powerless ignorant pawn in the game of life?
Dr Dbunker: I do I do pick me pick me!!
October 31st, 2009 at 9:57 pmIt seems debunker didn’t pay close enough attention when he used to watch Dragnet. He thinks Joe Friday said “All brag, ma’am, no facts.”
October 31st, 2009 at 9:57 pmdr. cobb, our party is descending into a dictatorship because they can’t get what they want.

October 31st, 2009 at 9:59 pmI love you Bunky. I really love you :)
October 31st, 2009 at 10:00 pmFred@230. LOL! Yeah, Lord knows how intolerant we ‘Liberals’ are. Hell, we victimize all Repugs. And if isn’t us, It’s the evil ‘Liberal’ press. October 31st, 2009 at 10:04 pmThe majority of Americans want and NEED health care reform. So if MB wants to continue to pander to her ever shrinking base, let her. Hopefully the fool who doesn’t want any of her constituents to fill out the census form…..then maybe her distict will those their “representative.”
What an ignorant fool…..but hey the GNOP keeps throwing her out there because she supposedly is attractive……in a nutty sort of way.
Yes, as you can tell I do NOT like this woman….she in no way helps in a system that depends on deliberation and discussion of important issues…. She is actually anti democracy. What an idiot.
Well, that was embarrassing.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:04 pmdid I say dr. cobb?
My apology, you f ucking intelligent liberal.
I meant dr. bunk.

October 31st, 2009 at 10:05 pmAre the fascist Republicans trying to rebrand themselves as the Conservative Party? I bet that will solve all their problems.

October 31st, 2009 at 10:06 pmwe need every American to be here.”
I have a feeling Bachman only want her kind of Americans to be there, not the rest of us…you know the majority that supports the public option.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:06 pmBunk, Its quite obvious to everyone here that you are a troll.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:07 pmYour not on a rightwingnut blog where you say ignorant things and your fellow teabaggers hoot and holler while shooting off their guns in the back of the trailer park.
Obviously nothing but platitudes. Your actions and your words belie your pretense at civility.
This is why you fail, every time. You don’t learn from your mistakes.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:08 pmdr dbunk says:
Conservatism, to me is living within your means. Check!
It is not passing checks our grandchildren will have to pay. Well, you’ll have to dig up Ronnie Raygun to discuss that, but you might get somewhere with W. Maybe.
It is not coddling our enemies and making enemies out of our allies. Again, talk to the W.
It is giving and not taking. Check!
It is being responsible for yourself and yours. Check!
It is not allowing re probates (sic) who have lived their lives irresponsibly to take my last apple so that they may not go hungry. Who are these people?
It is not making everyone else pay for my indifference in taking responsibility for myself. We pay already.
Well, that WAS refreshing.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:09 pmGood one X, enon conservative. Now that’s clever!
Conservatism, to me is living within your means.
Then you should use the word frugal. As for the rest of your finger pointing and demonization of others, which isnt a definition but blame game, isnt what I asked you. Thats what is hurting the conservative brand. GWB grew government, increased debt by trillions. Yet I cant find any ‘conservative’ [your definition of it] that takes any responsibility for voting GWB into office.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:09 pmconservatism is anything we want it to be. But when it comes time to put the principles in play, we’ll leave that to democrats while we bang our assistants and start four more wars.

October 31st, 2009 at 10:16 pmI guess bunk thinks calling us names amounts to intelligent discussion. No wonder they are dying off as a party.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:17 pmI must admit when I read the headline I had to be revived. I know this kooky bytche isn’t using MJ movie for one of yet another racist rally.

The bytche is crazy.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:19 pmNot one of you “enlightened” libs, with the possible exception of X, has given me any reason to believe I was wrong in my original asessment of this cesspool.
If you would stop projecting pre-concieved notions you would likely find that you have alot in common with people here. The main difference being that instead of supporting a band of corrupt politicians who have sold their office to the highest bidder and creating legislation to protect greed we would rather see those funds spent on things our people instead of imperialist adventures rationalized thru exceptionalism
October 31st, 2009 at 10:19 pmhey bunk, maybe you can tell us why the American people elected a black man with a Muslim name over any republican.

I dont self identify as a liberal Dr Dbunker but as a moderate and the reason I lean left [whatever that socio-political compass is] is because these people here care more about other people than many of the right leaning sites I have read. I am not for communism, I find it, historically, to be another false aristocratic fib and Marx, I think, was a scholarly fraud who meant to decieve the people. Just look at North Korea. The has made himself a King. A bad king. You wont see ‘liberals’ roaming the street there its a rather dismal and poor society of brainwashed pepole.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:28 pmbush thought a lot of himself too but he was just a mouthy loser. Just like you.
Please point out one intelligent thing that you have said here tonight. Just one.
Everything valid is ellusive to the lost. I understand why you don’t respond intelligently, you can’t.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:29 pmFireDogLake was like a museum of classical literature compared to this.
You seem to forget your very first post under your moniker DB.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:29 pmAnother latched-on racist rally. Can these nuts get their own f0cking holiday or event? If we don’t get reform then you don’t medical insurance.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:31 pmI generally hang out with folks who actually have something intelligent to add to a conversation. I guess I’ll leave you 10-12 delinquents to your splooge fest.

October 31st, 2009 at 10:32 pmI don’t know about you guys but I’m always awed by the intelligence of someone who uses the word splooge…
October 31st, 2009 at 10:33 pmBunk, I need to know. How can anyone who is at least capable of reading and writing defend bush/cheney?
October 31st, 2009 at 10:33 pmBush was warned that OBL was determind to strike on American soil. Bush/cheney ignored those warnings from the clinton administration. So 8 months into bushes presidency he is responsible for over 3 thousand Americans being murdered. Then the idiot doesnt stay the course(sound familiar) and finish the job in afghanistan. Nope, bushy wants to invade a country that had nothing to do with 9/11. Where tens of thousands of innocents have been killed. Bush/cheney are war criminals who should be treated as such. That means a fair trial. Unlike the people who have been locked up in prisons by bush without access to the courts.
Hon, are you coming back again or are you really gone this time? Are you going over to Firedog Lake to be “bored”?
???
Make me so jealous.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:34 pm*they you don’t get medical insurance.
You and your nuts, you ditzy loon.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:34 pmIm not a fan of eloquent lingo DB as its often meant to be deceptive.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:34 pmDr. Bunk says:
But ObaMao is our best recruiter since RR. It shouldn’t be long before new blood takes root.
So.. it only figures that part of the Republican backwards ideology is the view that losing members is what they call ‘recruiting’. This goes hand in hand with their ‘war is peace’, ‘freedom is slavery’ concept…
20% and falling Dr. Bunk.
Keep pretending.. keep lying.. keep spinning.. you’ll never gain any ‘recruits’ when you operate from a platform based on nothing but lies, but the last thing I want you to do is change. I encourage your party to do more of the same.. for the world’s sake.

October 31st, 2009 at 10:37 pmAwwwww, Bunkie. No offense taken.
You were leaving…?
October 31st, 2009 at 10:38 pmdr. bunk is asked a question repeatedly, can’t answer, and that’s good enough to give himself glowing reviews.

If the principles you have listed are your principles, you are among many friends. What ever you want to call them, no Party owns them. For the sake of argument, explain to me the attributes of the Cheney/Bush years that demonstrates these principles. Second, what actions of the Republican Party during the last 8 years demonstrate these core principles?
Actions speak louder than words. Knowing these principles is one thing; living by them is something else.
Demonstrate your core value of honesty and give me some examples!

October 31st, 2009 at 10:46 pmLet’s three, no four posts ago you said you were “bored” and you were leaving.
But you’re still here. I told you, you’re not really “bored”.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:46 pmWell, how was everyones Halloween? Mine was a bust. It friggin rained for hours.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:48 pmand as far as Bush/Cheney and 9/11… at the very least they had foreknowledge.. but allowed it to happen.
Although I’m one of those who thinks it was far worse than that.. I believe they orchestrated it – and there’s strong precedent for such an action. Look up Operation North Woods – they proposed shooting down a plain full of American students to support their political agenda.
Look up the details leading up to Vietnam.. or look up the facts of Pearl Harbor. The Kennedy Assassination. Look up Prescott Bush.
Project for a New American Century and ‘a new pearl harbor’.
At the least they thought about causing something like 9/11 and conveniently were granted it.. at worst – they were responsible. Either one is not a revelation.. no surprise.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:49 pmCheney and crew are war criminals.. there’s no debate.
Bunkie’s been here for hours.

I didn’t celebrate.. partied last night and hung over today =/
It’s 8pm here.. the looters will arrive soon and I have no candy to offer, I don’t support their candy redistribution entitlement.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:53 pmRained here too, but son had a good time anyway..we also visited grandma who just got out of the hospital after being nearly killed by an adverse drug reaction. Thanx, best health care system in the world.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:55 pmAside from Crazy Shelly’s stupidity and insanity, I find it amazing that anyone would jump to her defense. She spends more time on T.V. than she does in the House chamber and, when she is there, everyone leaves when she has the floor. The saddest part is that the good people of the 6th District don’t really have a Representative.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:56 pmBunkie has been spamming progressive blogs for almost 10 straight hours.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:56 pmHe has probably earned enough to call it a night and go out and score a case of 20/20, along with a bucket of KFC.
Bunkie will soon be in hillbilly heaven.

Candy is the product of witchcraft and makes people attificially horny. Want your kids getting into promiscuity and global warming bunk? Give them candy. Local government must pass laws en mass and at once banning all trick or treating.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:58 pmYou know Bunkie never said if he was going to heed Michele’s call and go to Washinton, anyone else notice that?
October 31st, 2009 at 10:58 pmPete,
I had heard that when she takes the floor, the place empties out, but I have not been able to confirm this to be true. It would make for a great TP story if it is true.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:58 pmCheney is sadly misportrayed, though, and probably wanted to throttle shrub himself.
I dont think so. The guy has intentionally cherry picked intelligence [Feiths alternative intelligence] and as a Straussian has engaged in many a noble lie because they thik themselves elites whose job it is to mislead the ignorant masses while profiteering mightily from his actions.
His goals, whatever they are, remain shrouded in deception and that I cannot abide by.
October 31st, 2009 at 10:59 pmOh Bunkie you’re still here (as if you ever left). So, see you in Washington?
October 31st, 2009 at 11:00 pm@300, Oh God, why are still here if you are ‘Wasting brain cells’? The Soros thing has been played. I don’t beleive anything you say, in fact YOU are getting boring. And that, my friend, is the truth.
October 31st, 2009 at 11:01 pmLevi,
They say a picture, or video, is worth a thousand words. Check out all the empty seats. Also, Betty McCollum (D-Mn.) confirmed, in a recent radio interview, that she usually leaves when Crazy Shelly has the floor because she rarely addresses the issue at hand.

October 31st, 2009 at 11:06 pmHey bunkie troll:
October 31st, 2009 at 11:06 pmWhat is obdurance, the word is not found in my dictionary?
Conservatism is putting up my own streetlights, digging my own sewers, building my own highways, delivering my own mail, putting out my own house fires, home school my kids so they are totally ignorant and superstitious they can do nothing useful and will spend their dalys railing against illegals, Conservatism is driving myself (in my unregulated auto that spews pollution) to the Private ER when I break my leg or have a heart attack. Or Hell, I’ll just give myself an injection of the wonderful heart medicine Private Enterprise invented, even tho it costs @20,000. I can afford it because I don ‘t pay taxes, ha ha. (even tho my taxes would be less than $20K)
Conservatism is not helping your neighbor because what the hell did he ever do for you? Conservatism is getting your neighbor’s help in an emergency and flipping him the bird, laughing loudly. SUCKER!
October 31st, 2009 at 11:07 pmCheney, if he has been misportrayed, is because of his inability to speak truthfully and engaging in underhanded manuevers to center more and more power in the exectuive office which abrogates the balance of powers. A unitary executive [king with advisers] is in direct opposition to a functioning democratic republic.
October 31st, 2009 at 11:07 pmP.D.
I was bored the second the “new” stupid troll said he was “new”. It’s a sure a tip-off as when one of the sockpuppets greats us with “fellow progressives”.

**snore**
October 31st, 2009 at 11:11 pmHey, did anyone find any candy that has a curse on it like the Pat Robertson camp said there would be? I just worried we might have a ‘28 Days’ epidemic on our hands.
October 31st, 2009 at 11:11 pmpete, Lets forget him for a while. How was your Halloween?
October 31st, 2009 at 11:12 pmdr dbunk,
Let’s keep the perspective a bit narrower. What accomplishments of the Conservative Republican Party demonstrate your list of core conservative principles? What present actions of the Republican Conservatives demonstrate these principles?
I am asking a simple question. You want an honest forum, you have the floor!
October 31st, 2009 at 11:14 pmFred says:
Shouldn’t we just let the fool show the world how shallow he is?
He did that with his very first post, Fred. ;)

October 31st, 2009 at 11:14 pmZooey, Meybe he is drooling over the so-called ‘win’ in NY. That, my friend, is a double edged sword if I have ever seen one.
October 31st, 2009 at 11:15 pmHey Bunkie, what the heck is a “museum of classical literature”?
October 31st, 2009 at 11:15 pmIf you have an answer, please inform Google because they don’t have one.
P. D. My son’s candy is cursed for sure! It’s already caused me to sin, as I’ve committed the sin of theft. Perhaps I should eat it all in order to protect him.
October 31st, 2009 at 11:15 pmWhile we can argue infinitely about what we disagree on lets start first with what we do agree on Dr D.
We agree that people should live within their means. Great.
However the capitalist system, which has also become difficult to define because of the abuse of language, is problematic to frugality as capitalism is, when reduced to its simplest form, the replacement of currency with credit and debt. Its a major cause of the recent financial Chernobyl.
And not just because people are living beyond their means but because of overleveraging and outright fraud motivated by greed.

Conservatism, to me is living within your means.
It is not passing checks our grandchildren will have to pay.
It is not coddling our enemies and making enemies out of our allies.
It is giving and not taking.
It is being responsible for yourself and yours.
It is not allowing re probates who have lived their lives irresponsibly to take my last apple so that they may not go hungry.
It is not making everyone else pay for my indifference in taking responsibility for myself.
October 31st, 2009 at 11:26 pmSuch beautiful words, dr d bumm; too bad Bushie didn’t pay too much attention to the idea of “living within your means”, otherwise he wouldn’t have spent money like it was water on 2 wars and a huge tax cut ( which obviously didnt work)..
dr dbunk,
Do you enjoy being a stupid a$$ phucktard in public? Are you proud that you are stupid to the very core of your very being?
Do your parents know that you are too stupid to remember to swallow your food?
October 31st, 2009 at 11:28 pm‘Moral influence’. I just read that from a comment made by a troll. I would think the moral thing would be to take care of our children and families by giving them access to affordible Health care. Yet again, the trolls don’t get it.

obdurate-stubbornly resistant to moral influence.
Morals are fine but when people or groups decide that someone isnt morally identical bad things can happen.
Such as the inquistion.
And yes, I would be obdurate when it comes to someone torturing me, which is immoral, because of their morals.
October 31st, 2009 at 11:30 pmSpeaking of hypocrisy. Crazy Shelly recently attended a ribbon cutting for a new bridge that she had opposed. What is it with batscat Republican women and bridges?

October 31st, 2009 at 11:38 pmWhat can we say about M Bachmann, or Battywoman. Yes, she is obviously suffering from Palin-envy, but she’ll never meet Sarahs level of incoherence, alas!
Shes quite an ordinary specimen of wingnut: her oddness is in her sex. Few wingnuts are women, tho they all seem to be batshit crazy mean. I expect its the “hipocrazy” to quote our newest troll-toy. And forced abstinence’ too, considering the sex habits of your average Repug male, sans Viagra that is. And even with Viagra…
I would like to be a reporter at Bichmanns protest of Government sponsored health care which NO ONE has to buy in to, or pay for if they DON’T WANT TO.
I would ask the “crowd” which of them had insurance and which did not, then divide the ‘haves’ into the ’secure health insurance’ and the ‘might loose it any days’
I would ask M if she refused to accept HER Government insurance, since it is so bad and a bureaucrat death panel is probably discussing her “case” right now.
Ahhh. Hey! I just remembered I have a bottle of wine in the refridgerator.

October 31st, 2009 at 11:39 pmFor profit health care is what spurs innovation
Until the 1940s, health care was considered a national social obligation, not something that generated profits for the private sector.
“For profit” health insurance didn’t become widespread in this country until the late 70’s to early 1980’s … we were pretty innovative in medicine way before then…
I personally remember when you went to the doctor then insurance paid the bill and that was it…and there weren’t all these stupid bills that come in the mail now telling you how much the “patient portion” of the bill is. Pre-existing conditions didn’t exist. And you couldn’t be refused insurance for your health.
What changed? Corporations were allowed to get greedy and regulations were relaxed allowing corporations to make money off of the illness of others…

Crazy Shelly is not your common moron. She’s a psychopath and just may be the stupidest/craziest current member of the House. For instance, she recently said a prayer that confirmed her Belief that the Rapture is imminent. Which begs the question: how can someone who doesn’t Believe there’s a future be trusted to make rational plans for said future?
Seriously, I’m all for religious tolerance but I think that anyone who Believes in an imminent Rapture should be barred from public office.

October 31st, 2009 at 11:50 pmDr Bunk says in his high school dissertation on conservatism:
It is not passing checks our grandchildren will have to pay.
Dr Bunk fails to understand that an economy based entirely on capitalism lends itself to an ever widening gap between the classes.. eventually leading to complete disfunction. Soon the rich have no base to suck money from.. and without some government means to compensate for this failure in the capitalistic model, huge inefficiencies and eventual collapse of the system ensues. Dr Bunk also fails to understand that though he touts some regard for conservatism as being a responsible view and not one that leads to overspending and debt – all the examples of conservative presidents show the exact opposite as far as their policies. They spend and create deficits more than any liberal – and then the Democrats are left to fix the mess.. and often the only way is by further spending. In your own life you have been in these situations.. if you have no money, then you often have to take out a loan, buy new clothes – maybe a new car, to find some means to increase your income. Simply halting all spending is not a logical fix.
Conservatism is not coddling our enemies and making enemies out of our allies.
Coddling your enemies is not the same as SPEAKING to them. Conservatives view any diplomacy at all as ‘coddling’ or approving of the enemies behavior.. but this is pure bull. Our recent approach to diplomacy is a radical departure to George W’s version.. which was NO diplomacy. Our new path to foreign policy has made us respected the world over and is helping us achieve all our diplomatic goals.
Conservatism is not allowing re probates who have lived their lives irresponsibly to take my last apple so that they may not go hungry.
No one’s taking your last apple.. asshat, we are speaking more of the richest ones who are sitting on a mountain of apples.. with their arms wrapped tightly around them going ‘MINE. MINE. MINE’ as they pay the tiniest wage possible to illegal immigrants to collect those apples.. yet refuse to even contribute one tiny portion to the masses they’ve robbed. In contrast if Republicans had their way they most surely would take my last penny.. and call it ‘fair’ in a very similar way to Faux news being ‘Fair’.. it seems they have a far different dictionary than the one the rest of us use.
Anyway.. sorry for the length of this – It would be easier I suppose, to just say to you.. Mr. Bunk – you are full of shit.

November 1st, 2009 at 1:33 amDeveloped countries with one national insurer that is funded publicly – often described as single-payer – have a healthcare system that is delivered by either private (as is the case in Canada) or publicly-run institutions (as is the case in all of Scandinavia).
While these systems differ in their specific characteristics, the similarities are more important, according to Schaufan.
“Everyone has health insurance and there is no significant for-profit aspect in any part of the medical sector … nobody in these systems ‘makes a buck’ at the expense of the health of patients,”.

November 1st, 2009 at 3:12 amWe need every American to come out and tell the government that 45,000 Americans have the right to die every year because they lack healthcare access. We need to let the government know that 50 million Americans without healthcare coverage is just not enough. Let the government know that For-profit healthcare corporation ceos have the right to bankrupt Americans.
As Obama pointed out, that for-profit health insurance companies have employees with jobs. So do banks that repossess Americans homes. Also those who lost their homes use to have jobs, but the number of employees of the for-profit insurance corporations and investment banks outnumber that one American they just screwed out of their American dream.
Just make sure you consider each case individually so you don’t realize that the number of Americans hurt by these parasites greatly outnumber the jobs they provide.
We need to continue what works. Ridiculous profits work to increase stock prices and thus millionaire dividends.

November 1st, 2009 at 10:16 amI have offered this dipshit an honorable way out of this yet they are too petrified to engage me. Had they had the balls they could have had the opportunity to best me. Sadly they must have known they lacked the skills.
November 1st, 2009 at 10:18 amdbadass,
I understand your point. I agree that voting down just encourages them even more, rather than making them think they’re not welcome here (which was the main point). I will try to help you by not commenting to the trolls directly, just about what they say. (You know, my usual, “People who believe x…”). I will leave engaging them directly to you. Besides, they don’t respond to me anyway, no matter how polite I am to them. And, in support of you, I have not been voting anyone down for the past few days.
Is it okay to copy what they say (without using their names) in order to refute the things they say? Or should I tailor my comments to raise the point I want to raise without directly indicating what was said that inspired it? (I can write them as if I just showed up and commented without reading any of the other comments. ;) )
November 1st, 2009 at 10:30 amMorning Wayne.
November 1st, 2009 at 10:37 amI am not sure as to the copying and pasting of their crap. I think the community as a whole might want to have a discussion of how best to handle that dimension. My feeling is no but I can see why others would not want to let bullshit go unaddressed.
dbad, why leave them at zero when I use zero to express my disagreement with a poster? I prefer to vote the dummy down. I don’t want their brand of thought to be seen by my eyes, let alone understood.
November 1st, 2009 at 11:04 amyou know what would be awesome: getting some friends together and going to this protest. Create a bunch of signs that say variations on the theme of “END GOVERNMENT RUN MEDICARE NOW.” The signs are sure to get on the news somewhere, and definitely in blogsphere. Then sit back and watch the undies of the republiscum pundits get into a serious knot. They’ll have to explain why exactly they don’t want to end the popular GOVERNMENT RUN program Medicare? Anybody with me?
November 1st, 2009 at 11:19 ambrando,
I believe that a Republican congressman plans to introduce a bill to privatize Medicare. So they’ll say that they aren’t trying to end it, just turn it over to the private sector “because they can always do things better than the federal government can.” This view is, of course, not simply wrong, it’s delusional.
Capitalists believe that anything that makes a profit is “good” no matter how much bad it creates, while anything that doesn’t make a profit must be “bad” no matter how much good it does. I call this kind of thinking “inhumane”.
November 1st, 2009 at 11:25 amI will generally join a “talk about but not to” campaign once a troll has earned it, and I’ll go along with a “Flag n Forget” program when that’s called for, too.
I understand the appeal of keeping a troll at zero, but I don’t think it’s a practical goal. As dbadass notes, it requires universal participation, and we’re never gonna get that here.
As for quoting the troll in a rebuttal post, I often find it a more effective way to deliver a smack down than simply referring to the original post number, or even more obliquely that, by just naming the troll, for instance. I recognize the impulse to feed the troll nothing at all, but sometimes it just doesn’t work for me.
November 1st, 2009 at 11:51 amBachmann publicly backing a lobbyists special interest groups astroturf campaign thru incitement and fear means she is not representing her constituents views but actively trying to sway her constituents views to match an agenda they are not aware of.

“Dr. Mark Levin” ????
“DR.” ?!?!?
did she just summarily grant Levin a PhD or an MD? She did not specify.
November 1st, 2009 at 12:41 pmI can smell the stoopid already.
November 1st, 2009 at 3:47 pmOy… Batsh*t Bachmann rides again, and the republicans are dragged kicking and screaming into her sewer of insanity with her.

Well, Bob McDonnell can pull that one off when he wins Nov. 4th. Sorry, folks, I wish I could make parody out of that one, but Cree Deeds officially knocked himself with his knee-jerk willingness to opt-out of the public option.
Noooo… all the pundits have been predicting that Deeds will lose on Tues., but these are the same people/polls that said that McCain would win last november, but they were wrong, remember? The only number that matters is the number of people who vote for him at the polls on tuesday..
November 1st, 2009 at 5:07 pmOh and BTW, Deeds changed his position about opting out of the public option; now he’s saying that he’ll consider opting in it if it looks like it would be the best thing for virginia.
But I gotta admit, Deeds hasn’t exactly done a great job promoting himself like mcdonnell has..
November 1st, 2009 at 5:10 pmIs she for real?
November 1st, 2009 at 5:11 pmAll social customs and morays, like philanthropy and medicine, are reinforcing of our society, and motivate well- intentioned interactions with other countries. ‘Profit’ is neither personal, or familial in nature; but yet, both propsed health care reform plans ‘pay’ for budgetary universal health care priorities with balanced, taxation of businesses, individuals and individual states. IMO these basic, social elements uniformly benefit from proposed health plans:
* all businesses will function on a level playing field, and should have more options when at last, businesses ‘morph’ or are sold for other reasons;
* individuals may rely on a new updated ’safety net’ including such recent health conditions as STD’s, and seasonal flu strains;
* states can depend on a ‘big stick’ approach to health care, to work against communicable disease, because non-coverage is minimized;
November 1st, 2009 at 5:27 pmIs Bachmann really the best that corporate money can buy? Maybe they are more desperate than it appears.
November 1st, 2009 at 8:11 pmI’ll qualify my post by stating that I’m an independent who voted for Obama. But I have to say from what I’ve witnessed in the last 11 months, Obama, the Democrats and his witless fans have proven themselves devoid of any understanding how the health system works or the economics supporting it. I can say the same of all the posters here who support Public Option but HASN’T read a SINGLE line of the Healthcare Bill and taken the time to understand its economic consequences. Most of you DON’T EVEN KNOW what a Public Option is until Obama made an issue of it.
You talk SANCTIMONIOUSLY about how HMO CEOs make millions in salary in the open market but you have NO QUALMS about the government FORCIBLY APPROPRIATING and WASTING TRILLIONS from middleclass taxpayers. This is the same the bureaucracy who has been unable (or unwilling) to control the existing BILLIONS of medical waste and fraudulent billings that is so RAMPANT in Medicare and Medicaid. Do some of my fellow posters even know what MEDICAID is and how it works?! How can you claim that our government is qualified to adminsiter a Public Option when Medicare and Social Security is already projected by the CBO to go BANKRUPT by 2017 and 2047?!!! How is a PUBLIC OPTION even fiscally possible when the TREASURY IS ALREADY FLAT BROKE and the government is ALREADY $12tRILLIONS in DEBT?!!! Christ! And just because people call out this government’s HYPOCRISY, YOU DENIGRATE them as ‘teabaggers’ or ‘KKKonservanazi’?
And the person who wrote this earlier …
“…We need every American to come out and tell the government that 45,000 Americans have the right to die every year because they lack healthcare access. We need to let the government know that 50 million Americans without healthcare coverage is just not enough. Let the government know that For-profit healthcare corporation ceos have the right to bankrupt Americans…”
Get your facts straight: We hear constantly about the “47 million uninsured.” These figures include 10 to 25 million illegal immigrants, 14 million people who are already eligible for medical benefits but haven’t availed themselves, and 10 million people earning $75,000 or more who could presumably afford their own insurance if they chose to. Even assuming the lowest estimate for illegal immigrants, the true number of uninsured would be only 13 million. Yet Democrats want to nationalize the entire industry, currently 17 percent of GDP, to provide benefits to 4 percent of the U.S. population. Not gonna’ happen.

Or Hell, I’ll just give myself an injection of the wonderful heart medicine Private Enterprise invented, even tho it costs @20,000. I can afford it because I don ‘t pay taxes, ha ha. (even tho my taxes would be less than $20K)
You forgot “save my own money for retirement”. Lol…. I find it hilarious when I hear my dad ( who’s a huge conservative) rant and rave about how evil the “liberals” are and how bad “big government” is and then talk about retiring and collecting social security when he’s old enough. I just want to say to him that if he thinks that the “big government” is sooo bad, then why doesn’t he give up his social security benefits as soon as he’s old enough to collect them. After all, why should the governemnt give you money for retirement if you didn’t save for it yourself, huh conservatives? Isn’t that part of your whole “individual responsibility” philosophy?

He will consider opting in? And he calls himself a Democrat? If he is willing to deny healthcare to his constituents, then he deserves to lose.

HANDS OFF MY HEALTH CARE. I agree with Michele. The health care reform bill is not about lowering premiums or covering the uninsured. It is flat out a government takeover of the health care industry. Apparently government isn’t big enough just controlling the banks and auto industry. Real health care reform would have addressed tort reform, but the lawyers pay for reelection campaigns. Real reform would have included competition between insurance companies by allowing us to purchase insurance across state lines. Common sense tells me that our government cannot run an entire health care program. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are going bankrupt. I don’t trust any more bills after the disastrous stimulus bill. It was rushed through because there was a “crisis” and we had to keep unemployment from going above 8%. There
November 2nd, 2009 at 12:28 pmI’M LOST . .
So the people she’s asking to show up and protest are against:
W-H-A-T ?
Government interference, like picking up our garbage, putting out our fires, protecting our homes from intruders, schooling for our children, television, radio . .
WHAT ELSE?

Wait a sec, where exactly did u read that social security and medicare are flat broke? I know that they are having their problems right now, but it’s not that dire, at least compared to the healthcare crisis right now. BTW, it’s not the government’s fault that these are going bankrupt; people are kiving longer today than they were when these programs were created, and if people are living into their 80’s and beyond, naturally their medical costs will go up and they will draw more from social security than is being put in the system now. Oh and BTW, I personally feel that letting people buy insurance across state lines would be a disaster, because the insurance companies would naturally gravitate toward the state with the least regualtions and we’d have a repeat of what’s happening in Delaware right now with the credit card industry (they had so much of their economy based on credit cards, since they had more relaxed rules about usury than most other states, so when credit card companies started failing, people were laid off like crazy over there and their economy is struggling). Oh yeah, one more thing: I don’t know where exactly you heard that the stimulus was a failure, but I can assure you that it has actually done a lot of good things for the economy, like keeping the unemployment rate stable at 9.5%, when it would have been much higher without the stimulus, and it’s pumping money back into the economy as well as repairing our broken infrastructure.
November 2nd, 2009 at 9:14 pmThey act like both are going bankrupt when a few tweaks here and there will stabilize things. What we’ve seen here is nothing more than talking points from those who always put out the caveat: I voted for Obama but…
November 3rd, 2009 at 12:21 amWhere were they during the Bush administration? That’s right, no Astroturf group like Freedom Works was handing out talking points and rallying their sheep to protest…

That argument only works if he wasn’t forced to pay into Social Security throughout his life. If he is an idiot conservative, and especially if he is a idiot xtian as well, he probably won’t realize it, though.
Actually, my dad’s Jewish ( reform Jew), but he also happens to be a Glenn Beck worshipper. And I shouldn’t have called him an idiot, because he’s actually really smart, especially since he works for Lockheed Martin designing planes and stuff ( mainly works with radar) for the military. He’s been working for a long time, so I’m pretty sure he’s aware that he’s putting money aside in Social Security; I just find it funny when I hear him complain about how evil the “big” governemnt is and how much he is “taxed” one minute as well as the evils of “government-run” healthcare, and then the next minute talking about retiring in a few years, I guess as soon as my younger sister and I graduate from college, and collecting Social Security, and horror of horrors….MEDICARE! (which is, “government run” healthcare)
November 4th, 2009 at 7:57 pmI’m curious as to if the vast majority of Americans are as altruistic as claimed here, then why must we go to the government to get this done? Couldn’t there be a charity to help provide those in need of health care financial help? I’m certain there are many out there, why isn’t that working?
Instead we go to the government, and make everyone pay for it. We call anyone who doesn’t want to help pay for things greedy for wanting to keep the money they earn. I think it could be easily argued that anyone who wants money from someone else to pay for their things is greedy as well.
There are plenty of ways to lower health care costs, and with them insurance premium costs without turning over more things to the government.
Allowing people more freedom to choose what specifically they want in their policy is a start. If you’re not an alcoholic or a drug addict, you probably don’t need to being paying for state mandated rehab policies as an example.
I’m not completely convinced that insurance itself doesn’t actually cause more problems than it solves. I don’t know of a single insured person who shops around to get the best service for the lowest price. Why bother? You pay for your insurance, (well part of it, if it’s supplied by employer or government aid) so long as it’s billed to the insurance company who cares what that bill is? At very least insurance companies should be making doctors compete for business.
November 5th, 2009 at 1:51 amWhat are these idiots even protesting about? I haven’t seen anything remotely “socialist” or “marxist” about Obama’s agenda, especially healthcare reform. What’s so eveil about making sure that those of us who aren’t as lucky as the rest of us to have good health insurance get good health insurance?
