Republicans wouldn’t find coverage under their own health plan.

RepublicanLeaders

The Congressional Budget Office has concluded that the overwhelming majority of Americans would remain uninsured and continue paying higher premiums under the Republicans’ health care alternative. In fact, it’s unlikely that any of the members of the Republican House Leadership would be able to find affordable insurance under their own proposal, should they chose to give up their government-sponsored plans. The six men and one woman in the Republican House leadership have an average age of 52 and, as a group, are more susceptible to cardiovascular disease, different cancers, high blood pressure, and a host of other chronic diseases. The Republican health alternative would allow insurers to discriminate against these conditions and price the Republican leaders out of the market. Igor Volsky explains why Republicans wouldn’t find coverage under their own health plan.

Excellent, let’s pass that one TODAY for Congress and finish up a comprehensive reform bill for the rest of us. They’ve never used ANYTHING they give to us anyway.

As long as they have their own coverage, they don’t care about the rest of America.

    Scum.

  4. EnnuiDivine says:

    Bwa ha ha.

It’s a shame karma can only be meted out by the cosmos, because little could be more fitting than every Repub who supports the “plan” being forced to find coverage under it.

  5. Leftside Annie says:

Eh. The Donner Party pukes aren’t worried about that – they’ve already got Cadillac coverage courtesy of the government.

Screw the peons–er, the American people!!

  6. Buckie Boy says:

Republican House leadership ARE cardiovascular disease, different cancers, high blood pressure, and a host of other chronic diseases.

There, now that makes more sense.

  7. Bozo The Neoclown says:

according to their “plan”, their leader, fatass limpballscould be dropped from his health care plan considering being a drug addict is a pre-existing condition.

  8. barracks9 says:

Especially Boehner, what with his chronic tear-duct disorder and high melanoma count.

  9. Oval12345678 aka James K. Sayre says:

It’s time for these hypocritical Republican Senators and Representatives to give up their federally-run health insurance.

  10. Marie says:

OT — the climate bill advanced out of committee by Barbara Boxer without any repugniscum who were boycotting:
It passed 11-1 — why not unanimously? Blue Dog Max Baucus was the only objector.

  11. Tired of being lied to says:

…it’s unlikely that any of the members of the Republican House Leadership would be able to find affordable insurance under their own proposal,…

Well, it would serve them right.

I’ve said before that we would get very different looking laws if the first requirement is that current and former members of congress were the first on the list to be required to abide by the laws they pass.

Have you ever seen a bigger bunch of hemorrhoids in suits and ties? Take a gander at that photo. (Oh, and one in a blue dress, too.)

Google News searches on many topics, especially political topics, include FoxNews at or very near the top. For all I know, Fox is paying Google for the advantage, so they get more hits on their website.

At any rate, one news item that defies this tendency is the fact that the AMA and AARP are endorsing the Democratic plan.

Funny, it’s almost as if FoxNews doesn’t want their audience to know that old people and doctors agree this is the correct direction to take.

  13. tom says:

I guess they’ll all just have to die quickly.

  14. EmTee says:

Good. Their plan should be immediately put into use JUST FOR THEM, since they approve of it so much, and the rest of the country can have decent, government run insurance.

  15. Wiz says:

Do Republicans support their own health care reform, would they vote for their own proposal? I think the question is worth asking.

  16. Marie says:

Batsh!t Bachmann was telling her followers to demand that legislators listen to them and not “listen to lobbyists” — that makes no sense! (Silly me – Why would she become sensible now?)
It is the lobbyists who are working against the health care bill and they are certainy NOT working for the public.
There were a lot of senior citizens in the “parade” today – they should be asked to surrender their Social Security and their Medicare — then they should be forced to find health care on the open market – Bet 98% of those seniors would be rejected.
AARP and the AMA came out today in favor of the House Bill.

    – - Because for this group, being an assh*le is a pre-existing condition.

  19. Jackie says:

First a WindMill now Nothing. Columist Kristol announced he would be writing up the GOP Health Care Plan now we see his product. As we see the picture of these idiots proudly presenting this garbage. One might think the GOP would go to Rush Limbaugh for medical advice as he uses illegal drugs. Many have taken the advice of Glenn Beck who knows drugs really well as he’s still off and on Rehab. Wacko Chief Hichelle Bachmann now is in charge of getting the crowd up and of course donations to the GOP. Cantor is having big problems in his State with no help from the new Governor.

  20. Bozo The Neoclown says:

someone ought to clue in batshit bllaaachmann under the repukelican plan her botox shots clearly would not be covered.

  22. Purple State says:

Not to be too much of a Devil’s advocate, but how good would the various Democratic Party versions be at providing healthcare?

  23. tom says:

    NEWS FLASH!

Reports are coming in that as many as 100 busloads of senior citizens who thought they were going to their local casinos were hijacked and driven to Washington, D.C., in the past two days. Apparently, the passengers were taken to the Capital Building and forced to disembark.

(Well, at least we now know how Shelley mustered an audience)

  24. Dirty Hippie says:

great picture. a shithead six pack.

  25. missmolly says:

“The Congressional Budget Office has concluded that the overwhelming majority of Americans would remain uninsured…”
    _____________________________________________________________

I think this may be a misstatement, because the “overwhelming majority” of Americans aren’t uninsured now.

Perhaps you meant “the overwhelming majority of UNINSURED Americans would remain uninsured”?

Although if we stay on the same path we’re on now (and the GOP plan doesn’t really deviate from it), the overwhelming majority of Americans WILL be uninsured when rates get so high that only the very rich can afford them, and when requirements to get insurance become so stringent that only the perfectly healthy will be accepted.

  26. lexslamman says:

Heh. Ironic that they keep railing against the ‘expense’ of the House Democrats health care plan but the GOP plan is more expensive and covers less people. Which party is supposed to be good for the budget again?

  27. rgembry says:

Volsky makes the mistake of assuming these GOP reps. would be in the same situation vis-a-vis the individual insurance market as the rest of us. For purposes of analysis, that assumption is ok, but it leads to a false conclusion. These reps. would have absolutely no difficulty getting insurance in the individual health insurance market. All conditions, pre-existing or otherwise, would be waived, and in some cases premiums may be waived as well. Especially if these guys succeed in passing their plan.

  28. marlow says:

    Smoke + mirror = repuke

  29. jbrantow says:

As long as the rethugs keep getting their donations from the health insurance corp’s and lobbyists, they couldn’t care about the American people. They only care that they can fan flames of hatred and get the misinformed teabaggers to rally against their own interests. Teabaggers are the misinformed masses.
