After the 9/12 march on Washington, conservatives falsely claimed that over a million people attended, when in reality the closest thing to an official count — numbers given by the Washington DC Fire Department to ABCNews.com — placed the crowd at “approximately 60,000 to 70,000 people.” Though today’s anti-health care reform rally has been much more sparsely attended, that hasn’t stopped conservatives from inflating the numbers again. On G. Gordon Liddy’s radio show today, producer Franklin Raff, who was on the ground at the rally, told guest host Joseph Farah that the crowd is “just as big or bigger than” the 9/12 rally, which Raff estimated “at about a million.” Listen here:
Capitol Hill police told NBC’s Luke Russert that the crowd was about 4,000. At around 2 PM eastern time, Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS) posted an aerial picture of the crowd on her TwitPic page, clearly showing a crowd far, far smaller than “a million”:

…the crowd was about 4,000. At around 2 PM eastern time, Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS) posted an aerial picture of the crowd…
– - It just seems like one million people because the tea-baggers are so incredibly dense.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:19 pmWhy conservatives make bad accountants – anything above 100 is “about a million.”
November 5th, 2009 at 6:20 pmLooks as if the same person who counted the presidental ballots in 2000 and 2004 counted the tea partiers today. No wonder Bush won.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:22 pmFranklin Raff is the kind of guy who calls his three inch dick, his “big 10 inch.”
So naturally he’s not good at estimating anything outside the scope of his weenie.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:22 pmAt around 2 PM eastern time, Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS) posted an aerial picture of the crowd on her TwitPic page, clearly showing a crowd far, far smaller than “a million”:
Bad move, Lynn. Hope you’re ready to fight a teabagger in the primaries.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:24 pmHa! A million, my left clavicle! There’s not a million of anything in that picture.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:24 pmThe party of Grumpy Old Perverts couldn’t have picked a better felon to represent their unpleasantness.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:27 pmMore tea party pictures.

Ha! A million, my left clavicle! There’s not a million of anything in that picture.
Maybe if you count the blades of grass!
November 5th, 2009 at 6:29 pmRepublicans represent the bad things in society. Good luck with that. Fascists.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:30 pmDonner Party Math™ in action, my friends!!!
YAY!!
November 5th, 2009 at 6:30 pmHe meant it cost millions.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:31 pmrgembry says:
Ha! A million, my left clavicle! There’s not a million of anything in that picture.
Heh. Including brain cells.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:31 pmThank you Clumberfeet…
LOL
Tho the guy in the skirt and boots looks a little liberal…
;)
November 5th, 2009 at 6:32 pmconsidering their irrational hatred of healthcare reform, maybe it was 4000 really fat people, taking up the space of a million.
Wignuts: if they’re not making their ranks artificially larger, they’re making the earth artificially younger.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:35 pmCapitol Hill police told NBC’s Luke Russert that the crowd was about 4,000.
– - And 40 buses were used for these people. Do the math. Virtually everyone there was bussed in by the astroturfers.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:36 pmThose buses must not have been very full…
November 5th, 2009 at 6:37 pmSo…take from this estimate of 4000 and the estimate that 40 buses from the AFP housed 2000 or so…
Yup. 50% of the outrage is astroturf’d.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:37 pmPurple State says:
So…take from this estimate of 4000 and the estimate that 40 buses from the AFP housed 2000 or so…
Yup. 50% of the outrage is astroturf’d.
And the rest rode the Metro for free donuts?
November 5th, 2009 at 6:40 pm“On G. Gordon Liddy’s radio show today, producer Franklin Raff,… estimated “at about a million.””
November 5th, 2009 at 6:41 pmHe can get away with this on a third rate radio show where his regular listeners are to fat, stupid and lazy to get out of their trucks.
Raff and Liddy are only telling them what they want to hear, in between the ads for beer and chew.
It looks more like brazillion to me.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:43 pmThey are going to have a tough time exaggerating that pic of the crowd
Way to go Koch, FOX, Armey, Bachmann, Epic Fail.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:44 pmhttp://s3.amazonaws.com/twitpic/photos/full/40958692.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=0ZRYP5X5F6FSMBCCSE82&Expires=1257465545&Signature=J4H64TGsmGOBpKJu3qBHdxWahIs%3D
I wonder at the size estimation capabilities of the tea-bag crowd.
If they think such a small crowd is a million people, I wonder what size they think their own peni……. er…. feet are?
November 5th, 2009 at 6:45 pmtheladyorthetiger says:
Those buses must not have been very full…
Or very long
November 5th, 2009 at 6:45 pmThe whole point of astro-turf is to exaggerrate the numbers. Spread out Spread out!!
Bring your life size sex dolls!
November 5th, 2009 at 6:47 pmSorry Zooey… didn’t see your post… I was clearly thinking along those same lines…
November 5th, 2009 at 6:47 pmDon’tcha know that if your squint your eyes reaaaal hard (and block reality of course), you’ll see that there’s easily 100 GAZILLION right there!
Geeze…teh stoopid, it BURNS IT BURNS.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:48 pmI count about 26 buses in the pic..

November 5th, 2009 at 6:48 pmYa heere that, Maww? A million payple done showed up? Shucks!

Yeh, wats up wid dat? =)

November 5th, 2009 at 6:49 pmLiberals protest war and torture and conservatives protest health care.

Heh
November 5th, 2009 at 6:50 pmSay, I think I see Daryll down there!
November 5th, 2009 at 6:50 pmAnd at least 5 Tracies!
Who does this idiot libby think hes fooling? Certainatly not us libs. Repugs and the wingnut talkingheads are so used to their followers believing the sht that they spew. Anyone of their followers will look at the picture above and agree. They will say that its a million people there.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:51 pmIf you are a repug backer than you are so far out of touch with reality that you are irrelevant just like the repugs and their talkingheads.
Liberals protest war and torture and conservatives protest health care.
Well they are for the old order of ‘let them eat cake’
/snark
November 5th, 2009 at 6:51 pm26 buses – isn’t that about a million? (should have taken my math classes at one of those liberal colleges)
November 5th, 2009 at 6:52 pmSay, I think I see Daryll down there!
And at least 5 Tracies!
Bwah. I am scared to see a photo in infrared. [mucho inflatable people with warm spots]
November 5th, 2009 at 6:53 pmI was in DC for business at the time of the 9/12 protest. My hotel was the regular price, usually Crystal City will go up if there is a large event in town. I caught a cab coming out of the EEOB and heading over to Hart Senate building. The cab fare was the usual price, not inflated, and it took me about 30 seconds to catch. I had to reserve hotel rooms for other business associates from the 9th through the 13th, and did so with no problems at all. The airport wasn’t crowded. I had no problem setting up flight arrangements for other co-workers.
In other words, there were no signs at all that there was any kind of large convention in town. And then I fly back and hear “2 million people” were in DC. Uh … No – they weren’t.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:55 pm26 buses – isn’t that about a million?
Fractionalized bussing.
November 5th, 2009 at 6:56 pmRE: #13 by Leftside Annie…
November 5th, 2009 at 6:56 pmI’d be willing to bet that there aren’t any brains let alone brain cells in that crowd…
How do the minds of these people work where they can look at anything and say with conviction that it is something exactly opposite of what they are looking at!?!
November 5th, 2009 at 6:57 pmOT, Gingrich apologizes for supporting Scozzafava.
Gingrich: I think the nomination was a mistake. I wish that we had gotten involved earlier. And if we had, I would have done everything I could to make sure she had not been picked. And she clearly proved in the last few days that she was in no way a loyal Republican.
Guess Limbaugh really does run the party.
November 5th, 2009 at 7:01 pmTypical Home Skoold idiots. Can’t even do simple math to be able to understand that 1,000,000 is greater than 1,000.
And what makes matters even worse, is that these people have the right to vote. It is no wonder this country is in the sad shape it is in.
November 5th, 2009 at 7:01 pmLOL! Like we didn’t see this coming? We’ve been talking about this ALL day! 1 million! Aiming to high ain’t they? They could have made up a more believable number! You know maybe 4,000? Idiots.
November 5th, 2009 at 7:01 pmThere were thousands more who showed up for the National Equality March last month than this…movement.
November 5th, 2009 at 7:03 pmA million what? Angels dancing on a pinhead?
These tea-bagoids and Republipimps aren’t too good at some parts of agit-prop, are they? You’d think they could have at least photo-shopped a bigger crowd to skeer the R congresscritters.
November 5th, 2009 at 7:04 pmSo if there was a million teabaggers, that would mean that at any point in time during the demonstration, there were 500,000 scrotums gently caressing a million chins.
November 5th, 2009 at 7:05 pmYeah gordon, using teabag math that means there was 40,000,000 people protesting for marriage equality. It’s amazing!
November 5th, 2009 at 7:06 pmThese Republicans have been off the tracks for a while now – that’s why they’re so far into the woods at this point. Look out, there’s a cliff just ahead…
the Tea Baggers in the passenger cars are being served cocktails as they race to meet their destiny.
November 5th, 2009 at 7:09 pmFox will up the numbers to 3 million…
…or maybe a billion…
…that’s it A BILLION KAJILLIAN LOONIES marched on the capitol.
November 5th, 2009 at 7:10 pm“…gently caressing a million chins.”
November 5th, 2009 at 7:11 pmNow there’s some fuzzy math!
Maybe they’re counting in metric – let’s see: 10 teabaggers = 100 usual people…
Wait a minute! Metric? what am I thinking? That’s French…oh, noes!!!!
November 5th, 2009 at 7:20 pmThe upside of this astroturfed demonstration is that the news coverage cannot hide the diminished crowds and the sponsors are exposed for the fools in all of this. It is going to be difficult for them to muster crowds for cap and trade which is now moving through Congress. I think the sponsors are going to be more cautious about staging another astroturf event. We will just have to wait and see what new antics AFP will try.
November 5th, 2009 at 7:24 pmKalbimsen #19… that’s not how it’s done.. no one’s going to click your stupid links…
here.. this is how you do it
ABSOLUTE PROOF OBAMA WASN’T BORN IN AMERICA!
November 5th, 2009 at 7:25 pmI declare! Can’tservatives are horrible liars!
November 5th, 2009 at 7:40 pmWhat you guys don’t realize is that picture Lynn (R) took was, of course, just before the other 996,000 protesters showed up.. duh!
November 5th, 2009 at 7:54 pmThose are pretty tiny protesters!
November 5th, 2009 at 7:59 pmA million of what? Maybe a million pubic hairs, protesting against the “PUBIC OPTION”! What a bunch of Morans(TM) :-)
November 5th, 2009 at 8:02 pmStandard charter bus = 47 passengers
‘Deluxe’ charter bus = 60 passengers
Cost $750-$1,000 per day.
40 buses cost $30-40,000
40 x 60 = 2,400 maximum in the ‘Dick Army’ of bussed-in Teabaggers.
Police estimate “about 4,000″ total.
Number of voting-age US citizens = 228,000,000
The ‘Dick Army’ of Teabaggers at best represented about 0.000003% of the voting age population.
November 5th, 2009 at 8:05 pmThere is more fragments of tea leaves in a teabag than people that showed up for the protest.
November 5th, 2009 at 8:07 pmTo Repubs, 4,000 = 1,000,000. And they think ANYONE should ever trust them with the U.S. economy? These guys are such liars the economy would tank overnight. Oh, wait– it did, under Bush/Cheney.
November 5th, 2009 at 8:10 pmThe ‘Dick Army’, Nov 5 2009 ‘Battle Honors’:
Arrived Washington D.C without incident
Screwed-up the Pledge of Allegiance
Yelled at buildings
Tore-up a copy of a health-care bill incorrectly attributed to Nancy Pelosi.
Went home to make more videos about ‘dippin‘( thanks skoalrebel!)
Mission Accomplished!
November 5th, 2009 at 8:12 pmThese liars think that photo shows one million people? My God, what blatant dishonesty. Repubs – you lie! I don’t even believe 4,000 is correct. Think of a whole school photo– I’d say maybe 2,500 – 3,000 at the most.
November 5th, 2009 at 8:13 pmWhy would anyone even think these teabagger neocons know how to count since they couldn’t even provide numbers for the stimulus bill or their so-called ‘Health Insurance Reform Bill’ – just introduced yesterday [after the entire spring and summer of Dems writing bills in the house and senate]? Never ask these idiots to provide numbers on anything!
November 5th, 2009 at 8:14 pmConflating the numbers reveals a sense of inadequacy.
November 5th, 2009 at 8:16 pmand this is the tea party they’ve pushed for awhile now.. across the internet – and they managed this pitiful showing. It’s amazing.. they truly are dwindling down to nothing.
November 5th, 2009 at 8:25 pmIf that’s a million people, the crowd at Obama’s inauguration has been under reported by about 30 million.
And what a happy, smiling 31 million people it was.
November 5th, 2009 at 8:38 pmHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA
I say it’s 6 billion.
November 5th, 2009 at 8:57 pmThat’s is what you get repugs for using Michael Jackson name.
shelly this proves only a small amount of idiots are teabaggers; it was a beautiful day too.
Racist
November 5th, 2009 at 9:09 pmLosers
Well, there were probably a million brain cells, … just barely.
/snark off
November 5th, 2009 at 9:34 pmThey were standing on top of one another, 263 layers deep!
November 5th, 2009 at 10:13 pm1,000,000 is really 4,000.
Sounds about like the typical Repub new math.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:13 pmI bet there are more curious onlookers than teabaggers.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:26 pmNow repugs can claim there were tens of hundred of people there.
shelly said this was to show us their last hoorah. What a repug waterloo(n).
I can count the people using the pic.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA-HA
November 5th, 2009 at 10:30 pmG. Gordon, an American hero.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:38 pmAre they gonna fake another “metro” jam?
It looks like traffic is moving regularly.
November 5th, 2009 at 10:54 pmCome on guys, as little as the people are in the pic, it’s possible for the teabaggers to stuff 20k people on each bus.
November 5th, 2009 at 11:05 pmThere are only 1762 heads in the photo. That includes 116 on the bottom rows behind the flagstaff on the middle right. My app may have missed a couple dozen because of similar hair of hat color and parasols. It may have also over counted because of gaps in the “crowd”.
November 5th, 2009 at 11:13 pm1762. Huh. That explains why no wide angle shots of the Bachmann ‘party’
November 5th, 2009 at 11:17 pmWell, if every sperm is sacred… maybe a million of them.
November 5th, 2009 at 11:19 pmWow, this crowd really shows the awesome drawing power of Rep. Bachman. She’ll soon be joining Liddy as another neoCon has-been who will nevertheless make a living having tantrums on talk radio and at chicken dinner find-raisers.
November 5th, 2009 at 11:19 pmAlas Michel Bachmann, your are no “Glenn Beck”.
I think you’re just as crazy.
There goes the career at FOX, you have to deliver the numbers for Murdoch, and you flunked! Business is business, and it’s all about numbers!
November 5th, 2009 at 11:23 pmWell, *I* was at work today. *I* have a JOB. *I* wasn’t able to go to Washington on a nice bus and eat donuts – because *I* had to be at WORK all day.
Wingnuts? Don’t you have jobs?
November 5th, 2009 at 11:23 pmThe values party is bankrupt of values. Lying is its new mantra. Here’s praying that each and everyone of them spend eternity roasting in hell!
November 5th, 2009 at 11:29 pmYeah, Annie, you can’t take a sick day from work without being called a socialist or worse.
November 5th, 2009 at 11:29 pmWell, I think the days of Astro-turfing have come to an end. From Beck to Bachmann to Freedom Works.
The Washington Consensus, with its servile media, has lost the ability to form public opinion.
November 5th, 2009 at 11:31 pmSo it looks like the Reich wants to rewrite history again and the Boner read from the Declaration of Independence not the Constitution like he thought, didn`t he study civics in school muchless while in congress, these anti American Taliban must be stopped………..their all F ing Idiots.
November 6th, 2009 at 12:37 amI want to count my money the same way the Republicans count their rallies. Can I do that?
November 6th, 2009 at 2:09 am@ #51. Bobwurst
…maybe, because of their liberal use of rounding up to the nearest thousand for their own numbers is why they see gay people everywhere.
November 6th, 2009 at 5:00 amConservaTROLL
Pure ignorant pile of dogshit
November 6th, 2009 at 5:02 amWow, these idiots can’t count, can they? No wonder they said that 70,000 people at the 9/12 march was 700,000 people.. Must’ve missed learning about their methods in my math class at a (liberal) community college.
November 6th, 2009 at 10:06 amStay classy, idiots!
When you compare the hype to the actual numbers it becomes obvious that their is a serious disconnect with reality. This begs the question; who do people like Beck, Hannity, ORielly et al think takes them seriously?
November 6th, 2009 at 10:12 amA million attendees could be a low estimate if you think of yourself as a poet.
November 6th, 2009 at 10:16 am
“Reports came in today that two hundred trillion people attended the march on Washington D.C. to protest the government’s terrible legislation.”
Frankly, that’s all I hear.
And conservatives wonder why we don’t take them seriously.
Maybe we’ll think about it when they learn how to COUNT!!!!!
November 6th, 2009 at 2:36 pmoops, you guys misunderstood… the million referred to was the clan’s march in the turn of the century!
November 7th, 2009 at 1:08 amWhich guy had the heart attack in that crowd of “BILLIONS and BILLIONS and had to get treated by Government Run Health Care Workers?
November 7th, 2009 at 8:31 pm
