Tea Party activists plan to burn Reps. Periello and Pelosi in effigy.

The Danville TEA Party organization in Virginia is holding a “Fired Up for Freedom” rally next Saturday where it will be “burning Rep. Tom Perriello and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in effigy in response to the passage of landmark healthcare legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives.” Danville TEA Party Chairman Nigel Coleman said that the group’s members feel like they have “no representation in Congress.” Periello, however, met with the organization in the past. On Nov. 5, he had a conversation with several of the TEA Party members, attempting to explain his position while they talked over him:

In July, protesters also hung Democratic Rep. Frank Kratovil (MD) in effigy outside his district office. (HT: Blue Virginia and Firedoglake)

Update DCCC Chairman Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) put out a statement about the Danville plans:
These shocking and despicable acts are becoming all too common at extreme right-wing Republican rallies. Hanging Members in effigy or displaying images of Nazi concentration camps on the steps of the Capitol have no place in any debate and Republican Members of Congress must condemn these actions.

Yeah, you guys do that. Nothing say ‘Classy’ more then burning effiges. Man, the ‘Tea-Baggers’ are truly destroying the Repug Party. Do these people think Independants and young people will respond positively to this? Oh, that’s right. They don’t THINK at all.

  2. Buckie Boy says:

You are represented, by the MINORITY party of scum sucking fascist bigots racists and criminals.

You lost, get over it dirtbag.

  3. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

In counterprotest, I am going to drown a teabag in a pot of steaming hot water.

  4. ralph the wonder llama says:

P.D. you took the words right off my keyboard. “Classy” is the way to say it.

I think there’s something about democracy these clowns just don’t get.

  5. paleolib says:

Nothing like persistently acting as a bloodthirsty, irrational mob to ensure that your movement will appeal only to those who “think” solely with their reptilian brain.

  6. P.D. says:

ralph@4, I don’t think these people know what Democracy is. I honestly think these people are the most ignorant people on the planet. They make all Americans look bad. I ask myself, how could people like Bachman and Palin get elected? Are Americans that intellectually lazy? It makes me fear for our Country’s future. I don’t think we can go on with the Bachmans and Foxx’s and Palins’ in power.

  7. Little Freep Goofballs says:

And yet in their mind it’s the progressives who are the “haters”.

There is your Cognitive Dissonance, folks.

  8. EnnuiDivine says:

They are confusing Tyranny with losing

The teabaggers are looking forward to a 28 Day Later scenario, when all government has ceased to exist and only the shattered remnants of society remain. ‘Cause then, they can keep their guns and their beliefs and no one will be around to hassle them.

Except zombies and/or people more insane than they are.

  9. Fred says:

They’re alwaws yelling “Freedom” while endeavoring to destroy it.

  10. Mr.Bungle says:

Nothing says “intellectual debate” like the burning of an effigy.

  11. P.D. says:

I believe there is a troll in our mist. The vote downs are obvious.

  12. pax says:

    tea baggers are terrorists.

  13. The Dogfather says:

We “real Virginians” (to coin a phrase…) consider Danville to be a part of Tennessee… Dave N.: can I get an amen on that?

  14. roxsteady says:

When are the tar, feather and hanging partys going to begin. Everyone who is sane will be rushing to associate themselves with this group. Can you say NY 23?

  15. Max Anax junius -1 says:

    .

When did outrageous displays of unpatriotic acts become acceptable?

I mean sure, vote Pelosi out. But burn her in effigy? That’s what extremists do in other countries.

Not hard to figure out the mentality they are playing to is it?

They think this is a successful strategy though. I say let them go for it.

We will follow Obama’s lead and quietly point out how little they really have to say.

  19. The Dogfather says:

Oh little vote-down lurker troll: come out of your mommy’s basement and debate in person, or get out. Your childish little vote-down tantrums really don’t work, in case you haven’t noticed…

So if you have something intelligent to say (unlikely), then have at it. And then go away, or we shall taunt you a second tahhhmmmm…

  20. BFD says:

“…no representation in Congress” The ones the voted for lost. That’s what it’s about.

  21. P.D. says:

Will the leaders of the Repug Party be there? You know Bachman and Rep. King? This is their kind of venue. All the ‘Tea Baggers’ need are some racist signs and awful immages the Holocaust and Viola! The Repug leaders will flock in droves.

  22. krazeeinjun says:

Danville TEA Party Chairman Nigel Coleman said that the group’s members feel like they have “no representation in Congress.”

Hmmmm — let me guess .. the tea partier’s chosen candidates did not win in fair elections — therefore they have “no representation.” Perhaps I’m living in bizarro world, but isn’t that the way a representative democracy is supposed to work? What is it about representative democracy that these people hate so much?

    Just saying . . .

  23. dasm says:

Tea-baggers: racist, sexist, terrorist pigs. Right-wing extreme terorists– arrest these creeps who want to kill Americans.

  24. lokidog says:

I used to like playing with fire when I was a little kid.

    But I grew up.

    Unlike the teabagging right, apparently.

  25. jb says:

If you play with fire, you’ll wet the bed.

  26. Clumberfeet says:

The teabaggers are represented by the 215 no votes.
    They just lost…..again.

  27. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

OK, conservative guy, tell me how burning an effigy (a symbol of a US government official) is any different than burning a flag (a symbol of the US government)?

  28. lapdogs says:

This all goes back to President Obama getting elected.

They cannot handle a black President.

Can’t wait to see a person with a “Spanish” background getting elected, and what the “American” response is to that by the teabaggers.

  29. ncbrickhome says:

Can citizens ALSO hang and burn Bush and Cheney in effigy?

If so, counter-demonstrators should do exactly THAT.

  30. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

Apparently conservative guy or his hidden friend would rather vote me down than answer my question. Coward.

  31. Dr. Hussein Matt says:

Terrorists/Teabaggers do not deserve congressional representation.

  33. Bozo The Neoclown says:

” Danville TEA Party Chairman Nigel Coleman said that the group’s members feel like they have “no representation in Congress.”

tough tittie, teabagging traitor. from 2000-2008 i felt as if my views weren’t represented from the white house.

  34. Bozo The Neoclown says:

    conservative guy says:
    “I’ll bring the matches.”

i got a “match for you dooshbag: my ass and your face.

  35. ncbrickhome says:

Hang Cheney and Bush for TREASON against the USA.

Then BURN their effigies NEXT to them.

  36. Dave N says:

    The Dogfather says:

We “real Virginians” (to coin a phrase…) consider Danville to be a part of Tennessee… Dave N.: can I get an amen on that?

Danville? Is that in Tennessee or North Carolina? Tom Perriello is the best thing that’s happened to that backwater hick town. Virgil Goode (ex-ConservaDem turned RebubliScum) was run out on a rail.

  37. Leftside Annie says:

So…how long will it be before some wingnut conservative terrorist throws gasoline on a Democrat somewhere and lights them on fire – for real???

    This shit scares me.

Oh – and speaking of scaring people, isn’t that exactly what TERRORISTS do?

  38. Dabb says:

I do not understand all this chaos. I do not understand why a group of people hate so much…so much that they would defy our democracy. Barack Obama won the election by a majority of people. What is about “majority” that these people do not understand?

It’s almost scary to think they could win and what our lives would be like.

I apologize. Maybe TP needs to have special warning format button to protect against such occurrances. Without the humor of TP, the political landscape would be much more unbearable.

  41. Bozo The Neoclown says:

so, the teabagging filth feel like they don’t have representation in washington? perhaps they should form their own party and funnel off votes from the repukeliscums. yeah, that’s the ticket…

  42. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

conservative guy must be conserving his brain cells for his next barely intelligible post. I guess it’s asking too much for an actual conversation, to say nothing of a debate.

  43. roboticus says:

I guess it’s asking too much for an actual conversation, to say nothing of a debate.

    You can’t debate stupid.

  44. Bozo The Neoclown says:

i hope the department of homeland security has started extensive files on these domestic terrorists.

  45. Dave N says:

Danville TEA Party Chairman Nigel Coleman said that the group’s members feel like they have “no representation in Congress.”

You have representation in Congress. His name is Tom Perriello. He got the majority of the votes in your district. You don’t like it? Vote him out next November. That’s how democracy works, ‘necks.

People who don’t have representation are the citizens of Washington, DC – they are the ones who should be up in arms.

  46. Fred says:

Republicans Burning Effigies. How ‘Middle East’ of them.

  48. celtic cynic says:

Maybe the We Party (the party of us) needs to do something as dramatic, such as
public spankings of dummies representing Cantor, Bachman, Bush, Gingrich and others

  49. TrueLiberty says:

They’re right, they have no representation in Congress. The Dems and GOP are the servants of Big Pharma, Federal Reserve Bank owners, The Military-Industrial Complex.

How may Dennis Kuchinich’s are there? Not many. There are only a few Ron Paul’s, Mike Gravel’s, Cynthia McKinney’s, the Senate and all our Presidents since JFK have been in the pocket of the Bilderbergers, Trilaterals and CFR goons.

  50. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

roboticus says: You can’t debate stupid

You can, but it’s kind of like that commercial where the little girl only has a small rectangle in which to ride the test bicycle.

  51. Oval12345678 aka James K. Sayre says:

“Fired up for Bush/GOP fascism,” more likely…

Calling these brain-less morons “reptilian” is truly an insult to snakes and lizards everywhere…

O/T: Talk about screaming? Listen to the right-wing chicken-hawks and imperial bullies take fright at the notion of holding criminal trials for accused terrasts on the mainland US. Why, they’ve morphed their bullying selves into frightened little powder puffs…
    What a truly pathetic spectacle…

  52. okie dokie says:

The teabaggers have better representation than anyone else in the world:
35,000 corporate lobbyists in Washington, with the same agenda.

  53. Fred says:

Odd that you didn’t mention Obama, Biden or Ted Kennedy.

  54. Shayne says:

How do we teach these people who think education is a vast left wing conspiracy that ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES. When your side loses you don’t get to take seats back because you’re angry.

  55. pags2 says:

The teabaggers are anarchists who have decided that what they cannot achieve by the ballot, they will destroy by intimidation. The best thing that could happen is for a lot of teabaggers run for office in 2010. When a good number of the candidates lose, the teabaggers will lose many supporters and disappear as a political force. Meanwhile, they are destroying the Republican party whose leaders still believe they can control these people. The Dems, if they can get it together, need to capitalize on this opportunity.

  56. BobinSoCal says:

Let them have their fun burning them in effigy…Then arrest them for arson!!

  57. WillWrite4Food says:

As one of Periello’s constituents, that’s absolutely disgusting to me! Tom isn’t a Waxman but is definitely more independent and conscientious than the know-nothing Blue Dogs. And with the Bachmann-Beck campaign of dehumanizing of democratically elected lawmakers, protesters bringing weapons to rallies and dangerously loose seditious and inflammatory rhetoric at tea parties, I fret to think what’ll happen if the fuse stays lit.

  58. JustADumbFireman says:

The police and fire departments will NOT be happy about that.

  59. conservative guy says:

    PatrioticLiberal is an oxymoron.

  60. majii says:

Whine, whine, whine. You have no representation in Congress because you keep sending anal-retentive, backwards, mouth-breathers to represent you. And you’ll keep doing it because you’re incapable of learning that anti-immigration, anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-Muslim, anti-anything is not a reason to vote for a politician.
You paid with your votes, so suck it up, buttercups. You wanted your lipstick-on-a-pig and tanning-bed politicians in Congress. Now you’ve got ‘em, do deal with it.

  61. Meremark says:

    -

… Members of Congress must condemn these actions.

And U.S.MARSHALS and local POLICE MUST begin to ARREST the mobsters, on suspicion of inciting riot.

And organize now preparations to ARREST said-and-certain broadcast personality PROGRAMMERS while they are on-air, for the same suspicion of inciting mass riot.

Hold them for questioning overnight and release them the next day no charges filed.

    -

Which is all sort of s.o.p. at all times and places except when the U.S.Marshals and local Police are rightwing-bent anti-democracy goons, as their inaction and mute objection so exhibits they are.

    -

  62. pops7154 says:

Have you ever watches repoters ask simple questions of these band of morans teabaggers and get some of the stupid remarks from then most do not know it,s being controled by phoney fake companeys who supply money and buses and there to stupid to know better.

  63. KayInMaine says:

I’m surprised they’re not going to gang rape and torture these effigys, because isn’t that what the right wing fringe (conservatives) support? Shocking that they’re choosing burning instead…

  64. AlanTB says:

I think this is hilarious. Maybe with a little bit of voodoo Nancy Pelosi might end up being bar-b-qued in her bed tomorrow. She would look better.

  65. EugeneDebs says:

    ConservaTROLL

Why havent you killed yourself yet PUNK? Save all those who would be tortured by being in your putrid presence the pain and just go kill yourself

  66. EugeneDebs says:

    ConservaTROLL

    Conservative=TRAITOR. Just kill yourself punk

  67. EugeneDebs says:

    Alan

Just join ConservaTROLL and kill yourself. The WORLD will be a lot better once YOU arent in it anymore

  68. Chicano2nd says:

Remember MoveOn.org’s Patraeus/Betray Us ad. That was meek compared to the shit the repubs are pulling not. But, do you also remember how many so called Democratic legislators voted to approve the condemning resolution slamming MoveOn.org.

    http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=MoveOn_and_the_U.S._Congress

Now that was a fascist moment for the U.S. of A!

  69. Angellight says:

These tea party activists are nothing more than ugly sore losers. Fortunately, what ugliness and dispicable acts they do will only come back to them, that is Karma’s law.

  70. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

Thought I peek in to see if conservative guy responded to my question. No, but he did find time to post that my screen name is an oxymoron – like that’s an original comment! And like he has the market on patriotism!

  71. cd says:

On this matter we can be almost sure what George Washington would say.

I remember clearly that two things Washinton forbid his troops from doing at least two things

    1) being openly gay.
    2) burning guy fawkes in effigy.

So there you have it Washington would be against the teabaggers.

  72. CarmanK says:

I felt like I lacked representation in Washington during all the Bush years. And Ronald Reagan “the teflon man” made me sick with his Reaganomics, demonization of government, the unions and the poor. I know how the tea baggers feel!! I was motivated to get involved in local, state and federal elections. I had to put up with Gov. Bob Ehrlich (r) and Lt. Gov. Michael Steele (r) for 4 years. The damage they did to my state is still being cleaned up. So, the teabaggers are just bullies and real cowards. They don’t want to work for change, they want to give FOX, the Becks and Limbaughs ammunition to spew hatred. Acutally, it is becoming almost a badge of honor to be pilloried by the teabaggers. Perhaps, we dems need to find a way to “praise” those who are attacked.

  73. CarmanK says:

Why don’t we come up with an award for the dems pilloried. Remember a time when a Senator used to award “wasteful” government programs with a FICKLE FINGER. I think we need a ” Brass Balls” award for dems and others who have the courage to do the right thing. I nominate Senator Bernie Sanders for the first Brass Balls award.

  74. simspj says:

No doubt these guys are idiots, but who gives an f*? Last time I checked, I didn’t have a physical/mental attachment to a cardboard box with a face on it. Burning crap is ridiculous, but burn it if you want to burn it. It dosn’t matter if it’s Pelosi, Perriello, Bush, Hitler, Jesus, American Flag, etc..

End Result = They’re still morons. Queue chuckle and head shake.
