Dick ‘Five Deferments’ Cheney Talks About War From The ‘Perspective’ Of U.S. Troops

In a new interview with right-wing radio host Scott Hennen, Vice President Cheney again criticizes President Obama’s national security policies, harping on his belief that Obama is “dithering” on Afghanistan and endangering U.S. troops. To make his point, Cheney talked about the “perspective” of men and women serving on the front lines:

I worry that there’s a lack of understanding there of what this means from the perspective of the troops. You know, if you’re out there on the line day in and day out and putting your life at risk on a volunteer basis for the nation, and you see the Commander in Chief unable, to or appearing to be unable, to make a decision about the way forward here — you know that raises serious doubts. Nobody wants to think of volunteering to be participate in that kind of operation. [...]

It may in part be inexperience on Obama’s part. It may be that there’s confusion on the staff. But I’m not encouraged by it.

Listen here (beginning at 2:20):

Cheney really doesn’t have any more authority on this subject than Obama does. He neither served in the military, nor has he been Commander-in-Chief. As the New York Times noted in 2004:

Eventually, like 16 million other young men of that era, Mr. Cheney sought deferments. By the time he turned 26 in January 1967 and was no longer eligible for the draft, he had asked for and received five deferments, four because he was a student and one for being a new father.

Bush administration officials also seemed to think that they were soldiers in the military, with former White House press secretary Tony Snow saying that President Bush was on the “front lines” and “in the war every day.” In April 2007, First Lady Laura Bush said that “no one suffers more than their President and I do” during wartime, and Bush would speak on behalf of U.S. servicemembers to bolster his policy ideas. “The [military] families gathered here understand that our troops want to finish the job,” Bush said in 2007 during a speech opposing Iraq redeployment.

Darth (”I had other priorities”) Cheney has worn out his welcome. And his credibility was blown to smithereens years ago. He reminds me of Sarah Quaylin . . . both are too stupid and narcissistic to realize they are has-beens and no one is really interested in their shallow self-promotion.

  7. zxbe says:

Yes, the troops really like it when the Commander-in-Chief rushes us into unnecessary wars and then says things like “Bring it on!” to the enemy.

Go crawl back under your rock Dick!

  8. RUCerious says:

This VietNam vet would like to ask Mr. Cheney to STFU and FOAD, ASAP. He FUBARed the shit out of this nation during his 8 years in power.

I gotta agree with DICK. I mean, who starts a war in Afghanistan to revenge our darkest day, only to shuttle the troops over to Iraq due to purposeful misinformation and lies?
And then boldly claims MISSION ACCOMPLISHED, followed by the deaths of thousands more of our brave men and women?
What kind of message does that send to our troops?
And then, after saying our #1 enemy is wanted dead or alive, states later that he no longer even thinks about him?
So yes DICK, that kind of indecision does lead to serious doubts.
It’s too bad you didn’t have the ballz to state this about 6 years ago. MUCKING FORON!

  13. Hoodathunk says:

Ok, let’s solve this issue. Let’s ask every soldier, do you want to be where you are? Do you feel your efforts are beneficial to the existence of the US?

Those who answer no get a ride back to the US. Those who answer yes, get to stay and fight.

Any bets on how many transports we will need for rides home?

US discussed Iraq regime change a month after Bush took office, senior British officials say
    By John Byrne
    Tuesday, November 24th, 2009 — 9:13 am

    http://rawstory.com/2009/11/discussed-iraq-regime-change-month-bush-office-british/

The head of the British Foreign Office’s Middle East department, Sir William Patey, told the inquiry that his office was aware of regime change talk from some parts of the Bush Administration shortly after they took office in 2001.

“In February 2001 we were aware of these drum beats from Washington and internally we discussed it,” Patey said. “Our policy was to stay away from that.”

“We didn’t think Saddam was a good thing, and it would be great if he went, but we didn’t have an explicit policy for trying to get rid of him,” he added.

The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder – Trailer
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68_3rjp0Rkw

Famed Charles Manson prosecutor and three time #1 New York Times bestselling author Vincent Bugliosi stars in this most powerful, explosive, and thought-provoking documentary.

In The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder, Bugliosi presents a tight, meticulously researched legal case that puts George W. Bush on trial in an American courtroom for the murder of nearly 4,000 American soldiers fighting the war in Iraq. Bugliosi sets forth the legal architecture and incontrovertible evidence that President Bush took this nation to war in Iraq under false pretenses—a war that has not only caused the deaths of American soldiers but also over 100,000 innocent Iraqi men, women, and children; cost the United States over one trillion dollars thus far with no end in sight; and alienated many American allies in the Western world.

  24. Jim Wolf359 says:

Maybe Cheney should have a talk with my Dad who is a Veteran of Korea. I’m sure Cheney could set my Dad straight on the wisdom of impetuously waging war for no other reason except to line the pockets of his friends.
Then I’m sure my Dad will give Cheney a lesson about insulting the intelligence and patriotism of those who actually served.
Any wagers on who would win that one?

  25. Bobwurst says:

USNClerk, you have much more of a right to speak about the perspective of the troops than Cheney, or bush does. And when the trolls here question your service, I hope you know that the real Americans here respect your willingness to serve.

  26. Hoodathunk says:

Sob, choke. It is so touching. I mean, a man who found 5 ways to avoid military service is so concerned for the people he has placed in harms way. He cared so much that he was willing to violate US law and treaty obligations to insure that the US would totally piss off the entire world and make things safer for our troops in the field.

    What a guy.

  27. A Patriot Acting says:

I’m sure our soldiers felt some serious doubts about their safety and the integrity of their leader after learning about Cheney’s torture for dollars program. I’m sure the families of those electricuted by Dick’s billion dollar welfare contract holders KBR take umbrage in his newfound respect and concern for the troops. Seriously can’t this old fu(k just die allready and let America start to move past him and his failed neocon ideology?

  28. Max Anax junius -1 says:

    .

    Don’t y’all know that in MSM land…
… The only way you’re an “EXPERT” on how to treat the troops is if you’re either an Oliy North traitor or you’re a blowhard draft dodger who places the troops in harms way, unnecessarily so!

  29. MapleStreet says:

    In Cheney’s defense:

Unlike many servicemen, Cheney has shot someone.

Knowing the Bush WH penchant for inflating their experiences (GWB feels the losses more deeply than any soldier there – yeah, right) I’m sure Cheney thinks he has more experience than any soldier out there. (Let’s ignore the fact that this “hunting ranch” has you walk around and shoot at tame birds who are tied up).

  30. Uncle Ho says:

WTF would some cowardly draft-dodger like 5-deferment Dickhead know about war from a grunt’s POV?

  31. A Patriot Acting says:

Dick I’m sure the families and loved ones of the thousands of soldiers who gave their lives in Iraq deeply appreciate Chimpy’s “stay the course” hard-headedness. I’ll bet they are very happy that your friends got rich off of their loved one’s blood. They probably haven’t stopped dancing in the streets and toasting you for starting an unjustified war for the enrichment of a few of your oil buddies, the billions in no-bid contracts to your former company Haliburton/KBR, the economic disaster it brought America and the stain you left on our good name with your torture program and precious American exceptionalism. Yeah, an intelligent CIC who is taking the time to try to actually get it right for America (not just a few Coporocrats) must be relly scaring our troops after eight years of fighting your battles through multiple deployments, much blood spilled and lives lost.
    Heckuva job Dick!

  32. mike from Arlington says:

Isn’t it ironic that we now have Liz and Dick on T.V. complaining about Obama’s patriotism all the while Liz was a newborn to Dick and because of this, Dick asked for a deferment.

  33. USNclerk says:

@25. thanks Bob, the sentiment is appreciated. And since we’re all here to marvel at Cheney’s idiocy, I have to ask. Would it be a violation of Executive Order 11905 if someone mistook him for a quail?

  34. Zimzone says:

The Brits are looking into Cheney’s war; why the hell aren’t we?

  35. USNclerk says:

Executive Order 11905 was signed by President Ford in 1976 banning the US from implementing political assassinations. The reason I ask is that I feel Dick here represents a major threat to the US with his continued attempts at influencing national policy.

  36. TeleMan says:

Cheney lays a huge turd in the middle of room and blames Obama for dithering cleaning it up.

  38. Mike71654 says:

Draft dodging Dick is what is commonly referred to as a coward. He wants to TALK like a big man and play war games. Reality is he just doesn’t have the balls to go over to the real war.

  39. Hoodathunk says:

You almost have to admire the Republican hutzpah on Afghanistan and Iraq. We were drawn into Viet Nam to support a failing government that was a US ally to protect them from falling under the evil of Communist control. Pretty bogus but it had an element of altruism.

In Afghanistan and Iraq, we are the aggressors. We attacked. Neither country invited us in to help them defend themselves. And now, neither country wants us there. Just Dick.

  40. Virtual Pebble says:

As a Cold War/Vietnam vet (Navy, 7th Fleet, Yankee Station Yacht Club), I don’t feel qualified to speak for our guys in Iraq, and more particularly, in Afghanistan. My recollection from that age and era though, my recollection of what most of my friends and shipmates and I thought about, was that we had much more immediate crap to worry about than what the President was doing, or not doing. And when we did get a ‘breather’ and caught up on life in that world, nobody much gave a shit about what the President was doing; there were still things that had higher priority for us than crap which we had no control or say in.

Darth Cheney is just evil, and a bloviator; both he and Shrub are from the “do something, even if it’s wrong” school. Ah, that’s not fair. Only Shrub is from that school of thought and action. Darth Cheney is from the “Do something, especially if it’s wrong” school. Just another fracking chickenhawk lazyboy commando. But with political and corporate pull. Never forget that the bastard may be the devil’s own spawn, but he has access.

  41. dixie blood says:

  44. USNclerk says:

And now, for something completely different. What is a bloviator? I’ve seen the term used multiple times and I still can’t work out what the hell it means.

  46. lcdrrek says:

Guess we can expect Liz to be on soon speaking from the “troops” perspective. I guess if you are a quail hunter that must make you a “troop” or veteran.

Wish I knew that before I landed in DaNang. I could have just spent time quail hunting rather than being terrified for 13 months.

  47. Ape-Man says:

Remember, Richard Cheney does not recall anything that happened during the bushie years. He must have appeared on a Rethuglican show because he has any credibility he ever had.

  48. Ape-Man says:

These are the ramblings of a guilty man.

  49. USNclerk says:

@46, You were in Vietnam? Did you have to run anything you were going to say to the press past the Public Affairs Officer [PAO] first?

  50. Bozo The Neoclown says:

when he says from “the perspective of the troops” he means from the perspective of that other coward draft dodger who spent world war two cranking out crappy movies, ronnie raygun.

  51. Jackie says:

Now this is interesting as Dick who was so scared to serve his country he used the famous 5 deferments and even his wife. Now he is speaking for the troops as if he were the President for the pass 8 years. Folks I think we now can say Bush only held the title of President Dick Cheney was the US President running the Government and making the decisions for the 8 years of the Bush Administration. Reporters quickly forget that Bush gave Cheney the Executive Powers of President. Now GWBush hasn’t said one word about Iraq or Afghanistan because he didn’t know what was going on anyway. I look forward to hearing Tony Blair’s testimony and how Cheney ran the command center to lead to the illegal invasion of Iraq. Hell is to good for Cheney.

  52. pags2 says:

There are people who are trying to spruce up the accomplishments and diminish the failures of the Bush administration. History will be unkind to Bush and Cheney. They forget that all the classified material will be eventually be declassified after a couple decades. Then the failures will be fully documented with all the lies and incompetence that marked the Bush administration.

  54. lcdrrek says:

@49 No, I cannot remember ever seeing any media types while I was there.

I was also stationed at Naval Hospital Oak Knoll as a Navy Nurse (Ltjg) in 1976-78 and 60 Minutes was there doing a report on Plastic Surgery for Military spouses and we were kind of “muzzled”. I did see Dan Rather at that time, don’t remember ever speaking to anyone from 60 Minutes.

  55. lcdrrek says:

USNclerk. Don’t think I answered the entire question. I was a HM2 stationed with the First Marine Division, A Company 1st Bn.1st Regiment. We were west of DaNang near An Hoa, The Arizona and those areas.

I always felt that we were “in the shit” so to speak but now I see these great troops being subjected to 4, 5, 6 and more deployments. I can’t even begin to imagine how terrible that is. I have nothing but admiration for them. Unfortunately, the suffering that they and their families are going through will damage them and the Armed Forces for many years to come.

I am horrified to think that politicians can even begin to believe that we can win in Afghanistan. Have they learned nothing from all the “empires” that have preceded them.

  56. susancarrie says:

“if you’re out there on the line day in and day out and putting your life at risk on a volunteer basis for the nation…”

How the heck would you know, you old warmongering knowitall creep? I have no problem with the whole generation of us who took a look at the Viet Nam mess and opted out in whatever way they could. It should never have happened. But, presuming, at this stage, to act as if he had experienced the above and was entitled to talk about it is beyond all reason or decency. Shaddup, already…

  57. Cats says:

Oh sure, like Dick Cheney would know. Dick, go back to your bunker or go hunting and keep your mouth shut.

Dick Cheney is an ignorant fool.

  58. lcdrrek says:

Would someone explain to me what the “Vote Up” and “Vote Down” buttons on this site mean. I have been here quite a while and for the life of me can’t figure out why I get so many “Vote Downs” on some of my posts.

Take a look at my post #46. Why would someone vote it down?

  59. belaccifer lacca says:

You have 3 VOTE UPS, lcdrrek… the number in the (#) is a total value, so you are positive 3 at the moment.

  60. BaPo says:

lcdrrek, you’re voted down with negative numbers. The “3″ means you’re not annoying the caged animals;-)

  61. Hoodathunk says:

lcdrrek, its a cumulative number. vote down trolls will send it negative but it seldom stays that way. Just keep posting, it will balance out.

  62. USNclerk says:

@58. Vote up if you like what someone has said, or vote them down if you disagree. However, the majority of down votes are caused by trolls who can’t carry out a meaningful debate. Once in a while though, you may get voted down by mistake. I’ve done that a couple times and I always make sure I apologize to whoever I voted down.

  63. USNclerk says:

As an addendum lcddrek, when you clarified where “in the shit” you were for that 13 months, I have to say I’m not surprised you were muzzled. That’s how retards like Cheney can say they’re speaking on our behalf. I know while I was in, anytime a reporter came through, we were ordered to relay any questions to the PAO. God forbid the average soldier or sailor say something bad about his Commander in Chief. Who knows? Maybe if they listened once in a while, we wouldn’t be hip deep in someone’s else’s shitty ass war. Sorry, I spent two years ferrying blown up marines out of Iraq, I’m a little bitter about the waste.

  64. Hoodathunk says:

USNclerk, ferrying the marines out was a positive thing. It wasn’t your fault you had to do it but it is to your credit you did. Feel bitter if you must but I am sure the grunts you helped don’t feel that way.

  65. USNclerk says:

@64. For the sake of clarity, my bitterness stems from the fact that I was carrying back young men, some of them no older than 19, most of them missing pieces, all for the sake of an administration whose only motivation for dropping these guys into a meat grinder was profit. I’m proud of what I did, and I know the guys appreciate too. What we all can’t stand is we were stuck fighting a war nobody wanted anymore, and none of us had enough pull to make it stop. My bitterness and anger are directed at Bush and Cheney almost exclusively at this point.

  66. missmolly says:

When I joined the Navy many years ago, I went through basic training. “Boot camp”, we called it. While it wasn’t fatal, it wasn’t an easy experience, nor was it intended to be. However, having been through it, I realize I can’t really decribe the experience sufficiently to someone who hasn’t been through it, and for someone who HAS been through it, I don’t need to describe it because they understand. It’s really one of those things you have to experience for yourself.

I imagine the same thing applies to combat duty. I’ve never been in combat, and I would never presume to claim I understand what it’s like. Only those who have served in combat really understand.

So how does Dick(head) think he can describe ANYTHING from a soldier’s perspective? I say that if you want a soldier’s perspective, the only way to get it is to talk to a soldier.

But then, he’s not really trying to describe anything from a soldier’s perspective — he’s just trying to trash President Obama. Because Obama tends to think about things before he acts, instead of acting impulsively, Cheney wants to paint him as hesitant and inexperienced. And he’s exploiting the troops to do it.

Crawl back into your bunker, Dick.

  67. USNclerk says:

Amen to that Molly! Boot Camp was not fun, I bet Basic sucks more, but it ain’t easy, that’s for damn sure.

  68. Tricked By The Gods says:

How would Cheney phucking know of the soldiers perspective? Did he and his assclown Bush have any exit strategy in Iraq or Afghanistan? Did they have any combat strategy for our soldiers other than play police man and become sitting ducks for the insurgents bullets and bombs?

What about our soldiers perspective when they were sent to war with inadequate armor and equipment? What about our soldiers perspective when they drank polluted water and expired food supplied by KBR? What about our soldiers perspective when they found out they would be doing another tour or their tour was going to be 6 months longer?

Dick Cheney, please up and die already you evil, despicable, blood thirsty little man!

  69. pete says:

Dick betrayed an entire generation of American soldiers. They will be paying the price for decades after he’s gone. He has no right to speak of, much less for, the fine people he destroyed to no purpose.

  70. Tricked By The Gods says:

On President Obama’s “dithering” Hey Dick maybe President Obama has other priorities right now. Our troops have been their for eight years and you are suddenly concerned for their safety. You and Bush should have thought of that each time you USED our soldiers as photo ops and props.

  71. Hoodathunk says:

I think President Obama has the ability to at least imagine what it is to ask a soldier to do. I think he is capable of seeing both the national security aspect as well as the personal sacrifice aspect. Five deferment Dick only sees the one side because he has no heart, no personal side.

I may not totally agree with the President’s decisions about troop deployment but I do feel he is balancing what needs to be in the short term against the needs of his troops.

  72. J. Fred Smug says:

I have a great life: good job, good family, lots of travel, etc., etc.

My life would be complete if only I had never heard of the (1) Cheney and (2) Palin families.

  73. JYD says:

Where have all the repubs been for the past 7 (yrs in Afghanistan) and the last 6 (in Iraq)? We have had nothing but ill-conceived ideas with no plan for “victory” or exit. NOW we are still stuck in both countries and trying to figure out how to safely remove ourselves.

I would rather have a president that takes time to listen to all the alternatives and hopefully make a well thought out decision. All the repubs want to do is continue sending more and more troops in to harm’s way…

  74. Ape-Man says:

Cheney simply has no credibility left whatsoever.

On the contrary, he can be counted on either to lie or to not remember the things he has done to America.

Will Cheney go down as the most villainous elected representative ever? I think maybe so. Only a full investigation and prosecution will set the record straight.

    Cheney does not remember.

  75. Ape-Man says:

Cheney refuses to remember the things he does. Will he remember these weekly confessions of guilt he makes to his friends in Rethuglican TV.

  76. mary lacewing says:

As far as I’m concerned Dick should keep his mouth shut unless President Obama asks him for his opinion. At best, he could theoretically send word to President Obama that he is available as a sounding board.

Nothing good can come of him going public with his criticism.

  77. SP Biloxi says:

Pay no attention to the draft dodger behind the curtain. Someone needs to tell President Cheney that his role as President for 8 years is over. And the villagers in the media are still giving airtime to this war monger and war criminal. It boggles the mind. To listen to a former CEO who had five deferrments in the military on talks on war is like me giving advice to a dentist on how to perform a root canal.

  78. pete says:

Some of the other things Dick neglects to mention include:

    1. A Presidential election in Afghanistan.
    2. Conflict levels and loyalties in light of said election.
    3. Incoming reports from generals and diplomats.
    4. Readiness levels of any extra troops deployed.
    5. Availability of resources and transport.

And that’s just off the top of my head.

  79. Virtual Pebble says:

@ 66, 67. missmolly & USNclerk… why you young tars just don’t know what boot camp is. when I was there, we had to duckwalk five miles each way, through waist deep snow, uphill, just to do jumping jacks on the grinder… Argggh. (snork)

Actually, I don’t know why things didn’t go wrong for me – I could’ve been posted to Great Lakes for boot camp, where it does snow occasionally – for the whole damn winter – but I went through at USNTC San Diego. That’s all off topic, though.

But, the observation that Darth Cheney is just exploiting sentiment by dragging the troops into his bloviation about President Obama is spot on. Cheney and Shrub came into office looking for an excuse to go to war in Iraq. They got it with the 9/11 attack, but they had to screw up Afghanistan first. I would much prefer that President Obama take his time and all the staff time he needs and get a plan together that will get us out of Afghanistan without leaving a failed state behind. We’ve already done that in Afghanistan once, after the Soviet pullout, we repeated it in Somalia, and we don’t need a fracking repeat.

  80. USNclerk says:

Well said Pebble, and for the record old timer, Great Lakes is now the only location for Boot Camp for the Navy, the closed the one in San Diego down right before I shipped out.
JK with the old-timer gag. :)

OT. thanks, dixie. I’ve always thought that it just meant blowhard exponentiated. As in, your local drive-time shock jock is a blowhard, but GlendaBlech and Pudge Blimpbo are Bloviators, real fracking pros.

I still haven’t seen kwsventures ‘fess up to being See More Home Inspections in FL or Kurt Walter on Twitter. I ping it on that whenever it shows up, but it never responds.

  83. USNclerk says:

Hey, anyone else notice that ‘ol Darth Cheney hasn’t had one single troll pop up to defend him?

  84. pete says:

    USNclerk,

I was wondering about the trolls too. My guess is that they either have a big test today or they are busy at the drive-thru.

  85. USNclerk says:

Could it be that maybe even they realize defending Dick is a bad idea?

  86. pete says:

Anything is possible, USNclerk, but I hesitate to give stupid trolls that much credit.

  87. Virtual Pebble says:

    @ 80. USNclerk… more OT…

Yeah, I knew NTC’Dago had closed. I don’t track that kind of thing, but since I have a brother who was a jarhead lifer, now retired, and he has a son-in-law who is in the recruiting command and works out of Great Lakes, I hear about stuff now and then. When I went through, both Treasure Island and Bainbridge were still running recruits.

  88. Xisithrus says:

I wish Dick would retire to a remote fishing village with no teevee studios.

  89. jb says:

Shoot yourself in the face you lying criminal and miserable excuse for a human. Argh.

  90. SoapBox says:

    …draft dodger.

    Plain and simple.

Just another shit head in Bush and Company.

  91. Uncle Ho says:

I also notice the lack of trolls trying to defend that POS.
Usually, they’re the 1st ones trying to defend the indefensible.

    How about it trolls?
Tell me, a Vietnam vet, just how can a 5-time draft dodger be speaking for troops in combat from their perspective?

  92. tombaker says:

    Dick is a foxsucker.

  93. Wayne A. Schneider says:

By the time he turned 26 in January 1967 and was no longer eligible for the draft, he had asked for and received five deferments, four because he was a student and one for being a new father.

That fifth deferment is also known as “Liz Cheney.” Remember that if you ever see her name on a ballot. Liz “Get Out of ‘Nam Free” Cheney.

  94. Hoodathunk says:

Is there a single chicken hawk Republican today with actual military service?

  95. pags2 says:

I think Obama should ship Bush, Cheney and their daughter @sses to Iraq and Afghanistan.

  96. wldj says:

I rarely comment just mostly read but the threads on military service set me off just a bit. My father is an ex-POW, he not only knows more about sacraficing for his country but has forgotten more about torture than bush or cheney could dream up on their worst day. For an ass like cheney to even comment on combat troops is an insult to everyone who has served in that capacity. I know Viet Nam vets and I know WW11 Vets and I know Korean Veterans, mostly ex-POW’S through my dad and his friends who suffered the same fate he did. cheney is a coward and a chickenawk who doesn’t deserve any respect at all from all the brave Patriots who did serve and gave so very nuch more to our country than he has ever thought or dreamed of. Instead cheney has worked and politicised for wars is was too much of a coward to fight in.

    Peace

  97. HomerSexual says:

I take acception to the whole ‘volunteer’ army angle. The military is a job; you get paid for your work. One doesn’t ‘volunteer’ to work at Starbucks or WalMart, do they?

  98. HomerSexual says:

Oh, and #58 – You spent time in Danang but are worried about a few down votes? C’mon.
(Admittedly, your reference #46 was pretty innocuous, but it had 7 Ups when I looked.)

  99. wldj says:

I didn’t preview or edit my comment like I should have and I hope wise individuals understand what I meant to type…Is was it on my last sentence and left of the H in ChickenHawk

  100. pags2 says:

    wldj says:
For an ass like cheney to even comment on combat troops is an insult to everyone who has served in that capacity.

Most of the posters at TP get that. Most of the people who watch Fox do not.

  101. flavorino says:

If Cheney’s talking, he’s usually lying.
He doesn’t come out of his ‘undisclosed location’ unless he has a lie to peddle.
He cares about nobody but Cheney.
When it comes to the rest of us, he has “other priorities”.
He’s a conman posing as patriot, there’s not much else to him, that’s why he hides from the public.

  102. sscncturn64 says:

bush/cheney deserve the same damn thing that saddam got.

  103. Buckie Boy says:

Oh yeah, Dick is such a great ARMCHAIR WARRIOR, this sick fck should be rotting in prison for his WAR CRIMES.

    Dear President Obama

The Republicans are going to go after you, when they get control again, for harboring WAR CRIMINALS. Just thought you would like to know.

  104. Mr. Evil says:

I wish someone would just shove a big, throbbing dildo in Dick(head) Cheney’s mouth. He must hold the world record for being totally wrong on everything that he has said. Everytime he opens his mouth a whole lot of stupid falls out.

  105. republicanSScareme says:

Cheney needs to wise up to the fact that the vast majority of Americans think he’s a scumbag. That’s the nicest thing we can say about him. Almost everyone has him on their “Top Ten Traitors To Be Lynched” list (for the 9/11 treachery and illegal wars).

Even after the disasters he and George W. caused, his arrogance remains monumental. A typical rich thug, if you ask me. Doesn’t he know that the face he sees in the mirror has become a symbol of evil?

If the criminal rich and the military-industrial were smart, they would get that guy out of town. Maybe he can help count their money in Switzerland. Putting him on the psycho-radio-talk-tour is not making him or his criminal backers any more credible.

  106. Ape-Man says:

The Torture Twins are chatty Cathys aren’t they. They should be footnotes, not feature stories!

    Cheneys don’t recall

  107. Ape-Man says:

Liz and Dik should take a look at their noses in the mirror.

  108. Ape-Man says:

If the MSM didn’t need Republican scum to entertain us these people would in fact be in prison by now.

  109. Ape-Man says:

BTW – they finally exhausted all reasons to be in Afghanistan today.

Tomorrow they will be looking for non-reasons… you know, ideological principles, to justify more genocidal activity.

  110. Sven Ortmann says:

    “…nor has he been Commander-in-Chief…”

Wasn’t he? I though he was when GWB underwent some surgery and temporarily gave Cheney his powers.

  111. Sven Ortmann says:

    Hoodathunk says:

Is there a single chicken hawk Republican today with actual military service?

A chickenhawk is by definition a ‘hawk’ (warmonger) who always dodged service in a war zone.
GWB is such a chicken hawk Republican with actual military service (ANG instead of going to Nam).

  112. bob h says:

“After eight years — some of those years in which we did not have, I think, either the resources or the strategy to get the job done — it is my intention to finish the job,”

That’s you he’s talking about, Cheney. The only thing you did about Afghanistan was to kick the can down the road.

  113. Virtual Pebble says:

@ 112. bob h says: … That’s you he’s talking about, Cheney. The only thing you did about Afghanistan was to kick the can down the road. November 25th, 2009 at 9:33 am

sheeyit, bob h, he didn’t kick the can down the road, he kicked it into the bar ditch where it washed down under a cattle guard. Now President Obama has to finagle it out, prop it back up, and get it on the road again. And in the meantime, he now has Iran on one side acting bolshie, and since Shrub & Darth managed to drag Pakistan halfway in on the other, we’ve got a tad of a problem there. God only knows what kind of recalcitrance and craziness we can expect out of the remaining states bordering Afghanistan, but you can bet that it won’t be helpful to our squaring things away and getting out.

  114. tom7343 says:

    What a disgrace.

The mightiest Military the World has ever seen. And to use this a method to help change the Hearts and Minds of the people.

Iraq, 32 Country’s are doing business and the American’s business are not welcome..There are a few Security firms that had been advised to leave soon.

War is Hell. That,s what the Soviet Union found out to late.
Defense, the Haliburtons and military contractors do well. This nation is suffering in a crisis and if we continue in the quagmire we will learn as the Soviet’s had..War is hell.

I watched Dick Cheney on two different occasions talk to the AIPAC. (C-Span) Ballroom completely full, standing ovations as he said what this nation will do to Iran.
Becomes so mush easier to understand why Iran is resistant to give up any defense. Should this nation again have leaders like this there would be little any nation could do to protect against such aggression.

Obama taking time to decide when looking at this quagmire is a sign of courage as the “AIPAC” influence is so powerful.
