After conceding, then unconceding, then conceding, then unconceding, Hoffman now concedes.

Doug Hoffman On Nov. 16, ThinkProgress reported that failed Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman told Glenn Beck that he was unconceding the NY-23 special election, even though the winner, Democrat Bill Owens, was already in office. Shortly thereafter, however, Hoffman’s spokesman said that they weren’t unconceding the race. But then on Nov. 19, Hoffman posted a statement on his website, this time making clear that he was actually unconceding the race, citing concerns about voter fraud at the hands of ACORN and labor unions. Today, Hoffman has put out another statement, this time saying that he is conceding:

Yesterday, the remaining ballots were counted in the 23rd Congressional District special election. The results re-affirm the fact that Bill Owens won.

Since, the morning of November 4th, many of my supporters have asked me to challenge the outcome of this race. Their concerns centered on the veracity of the new voting machines used, for the first time, in the majority of the eleven counties that make up the Congressional District. Over the past three weeks, we nearly cut Bill Owens’ lead in half. Sadly, that is not enough.

I thought the whole point was that ACORN had tampered with the ballots and that the results were therefore invalid? Keep fighting, Doug! Get all the networks to interview you about your war against the ACORN/Reptoid alliance! Make sure to remind us that Sarah Palin implicitly supports everything your campaign says and does!

Good! The carpet bagger and yo yo candidate was the definition of insanity. Don’t let the door hit you on the butt on your way out.

    Is he UnCarpetbagging as well?

  10. USNclerk says:

You can’t say you’re still in the race when the other guy is wearing the medal you idiot! Damn, how do the repugs ever expect to get anywhere with this sort of stupidity?

    – - Geeze he’s conceited.

  16. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

The only reason why he “unconceded” was because he was soliciting campaign contributions (hence the mention of ACORN).

He probably made a bundle off of that one. Can he spend money that was given to him for a campaign that is over?

  17. USNclerk says:

See, this is what happens when your head stays up your ass for too long, eventually you forget which end you’re supposed to be speaking out of.

  18. Purple State says:

    But has Dick Armey conceded?

  19. P.D. says:

Don’t you find it amusing? Repug can NEVER admit they lost. They will blame ACORN, voting machines. Everything except themselves. It’s like Liddy Dole. She wouldn’t even concede. And of course Coleman who let it drag on for months. What a bunch of losers!

  20. Trittydi says:

    So he’s a flip-flop, flip-flop, flop of a re=thug.

I imagine that district knows EXACTLY how lucky they are.

Numb-nuts’ biggest mistake was his arrogance in assuming to represent a district he knew nothing about.

When I see eyes like the ones Hoffman has I cant help but think that one side of his brain completely rules the other.

And yet they accuse Obama of dithering.

Can you imagine how many times he would have changed his
    congressional votes ?

  24. susancarrie says:

Let’s have Sarah go out and campaign for more of these guys… ending in running with Beck. Dream team to run against, maybe we could pound them into the ground once and for all… for awhile, anyway…

Unless it was all unsaid, I don’t remember the repugs being this bad in the fifties-sixties-seventies. This started with Ronnie baby, that perfect example of ignorant self-righteousness who gave encouragement to all the rest of these nabobs who before had the sense to be quieter or whose contemporaries kept them so…

How can we get them back into the box?

  25. P.D. says:

Xis@22, He’s got that whole wide eye stare that Michelle Bachman has. It makes them look demented. And creepy.

Yeah, he’s right — it usually takes a cut of about 2/3 in an opponent’s lead for a Repuke to win an election; just ask Al Gore…

  30. Dr. Hussein Matt says:

This guy needs to discover a tooth brush and tooth paste. What a scumbag…literally.

  31. Keith says:

Oh, subject for Kucinich is AFGHANISTAN.

  32. P.D. says:

Off Topic.. Damn it. Chris Matthews is gong on and on again about the terror trials. I, myself, think Americans are made of tougher stuff. These guys are whining like children. If Bush and Cheney didn’t screw everything up and TRY these people when THEY wetre in office, we wouldn’t be in this mess.

    “voting machines”?

  38. Virtual Pebble says:

Does this mean that this fracking Hoffman ditz/troll has finally made up it’s mind? Sorry, didn’t mean to imply that it was capable of mental activity…

Has the rock in it’s head fallen back to it’s usual position?

  39. P.D. says:

RUC@36, LOL! I guess she is rubbing off on people. Only Repugs can make a loser AND a quitter into their next star. More power to them.

  40. Xisithrus says:

    Wow!! Talk about dithering!!

  50. gummitch says:

When Democrats suggested that voting machines had been tampered with, or that the ballots were confusing, Republicans laughed it off. Huh.

  51. Wiz says:

Beck manipulated this guy into acting like a jerk. If he stuck with his original concession he might have had a chance in some future race, now he looks weak and stupid.

Hey, Hoffman! That bad taste in your mouth isn’t just the bitter taste of defeat… Its the aftertaste of Glen Beck. Enjoy!

  56. lapdogs says:

And this clown wanted to be a member of Congress?

Does he realize he has to make decisive decisions when he votes and can’t continue to go up to the clerk and ask to have his vote changed from YES to NO to YES to NO?

  57. konchster says:

The people of NY23 dodged the bullet with that one. They need to purge their communities of the crazies Take a warning

  58. Marie says:

This guy is a laughing stock — people in NY should be greatly relieved that he isn’t in office.

  59. katy says:

Doug Hoffman: ‘Full speed ahead to 2010′
    USA Today – ‎1 hour ago‎
The Conservative Party candidate who drove the Republican nominee out of a House special election in upstate New York last month only to lose to the Democrat says he will run again in 2010. In an email to supporters, Doug Hoffman officially conceded …

with any luck he will live up to his creepy sex-abuser looks
and get caught before doing any more harm…

    i know – i’m bad…

the guy just creeps me out.

  60. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    Marie,

I am. I don’t live that far upstate, so I didn’t get to vote for Owens. Sadly, I have to admit that we have our share of ignorant crazies in New York. (And I’m not talking about The City. They aren’t ignorant.) I am embarrassed about them, as they indicate a failure of our once excellent Regents System.

  61. chandu11 says:

He’ll go on Glenn Beck who’ll tell him to re-unconcede and fight this all the way to the supreme court. Dougie will slavishly agree with his master. Good boy, Dougie, here’s a treat.

He’ll go on Glenn Beck who’ll tell him to re-unconcede and fight this all the way to the supreme court. Dougie will slavishly agree with his master. Good boy, Dougie, here’s a treat.

And I would happily remind Mr Hoffman of what Glenn Beck himself, his mentor, said. “If you take what I say as gospel, you’re an idiot.”

  63. Bluestocking says:

Third reversal of Hoffman concession in 3…2…1…

Give me a break already…this wishy-washy waffling on Hoffman’s part should prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that he didn’t deserve to win the seat in the first place. Why would the people of NY23 actually want someone this indecisive to be given the responsibility of representing them?

  64. katy says:

gawd… so sorry… it just occurred to me how wrong i was to wish some sexual abuse on someone, as i unintentionally did above…

… maybe if he just got caught TRYING to diddle a little boy…
    no, that’s not right either…

sorry… he can’t help what he looks like…

  65. republicanSScareme says:

Is this the same Doug Hoffman who called the police when his shorts caught on fire?

  66. Loonie says:

So let’s see… that puts us up to “ununununconceded”.

  67. Virtual Pebble says:

    @ 59. katy…

    Just to add to your quote from the USAToday “Full Speed…” story, Katy, Hoffman had this to say;

“So where to now?” he says in his email. “Full speed ahead to 2010.”

“Although I’m conceding an election today, I do it with the certainty that we will win back this seat a year from now.”

WTF? The Hoffman ditz/troll really is messed up; How do you win back a seat you never held in the first place? Unfortunately, even though Hoffman is nutz, there will probably be money and names behind him again, so Bill Owens does have his work cut out.

  68. gordon_freeman42 says:

    Hoffman/Beck…the Washington Generals of politics.

  69. Chrisdutch says:

Was he in the district when actually decided to concede?

  70. oldfuzz says:

Finally, a conservative who can take a position, then change it again and again until it’s right.

He should lead seminars on making the right choice… eventually.

  71. What the GOP REALLY means ... says:

Libs, just look at my preferred candidate; he’s a robot. Maybe RC Cola makes batteries or something and he’s emitting sparks. He’ll concede fur real once I slip in some Duracells.

  72. Big Dan says:

Owens is voting on things in congress, while googly eyed FOX “news” surrogate Hoffman is conceding/unconceding/etc…

  73. Big Dan says:

I don’t think he’s certain whether he’s conceded or not.
