Local Tea Party co-founder doesn’t want Steele ‘out there with the tea partiers.’

Yesterday on Fox News, RNC chair Michael Steele said that if he wasn’t currently leading the Republican Party, he’d join the ranks of the far right tea party protesters. “As I like to tell people — long before there was this big push on tea parties — if I wasn’t doing this job, I’d be out there with the tea partiers,” he said. This afternoon, Fox’s Neil Cavuto hosted Quincy, IL Tea Party co-founder Steve McQueen and asked him whether Steele would be welcome. “Not quite, Neil,” McQueen replied:

CAVUTO: Retired Army Sergeant First Class and tea party activist Steve McQueen saying, “Not so fast Mr. Steele.” He joins me right now. Steve, you would say “not quite,” right?

MCQUEEN: Not quite, Neil. Actually the Tea Party is, I liken that to an army of Davids which I am only one. I do confer with Tea Party organizations all over the country so I feel confident that I understand what the movement’s about and as I understand it right now, the GOP is currently on probation with the American people and obviously you can’t be on probation and probably be a member of the Tea Parties at the same time.

What about all of the other prominent GOP politicians who have been at tea party protests?

What makes Steele different from them, I wonder?

  2. angels81 says:

Steele should understand that the reason he is not wanted by the tea baggers is, He’s the wrong color.

  3. Trittydi says:

No kidding. How many loose-cannons does a movement need or want to control at any given time?

  4. cd says:

If I was having a party (any party) I wouldn’t want Steele there.

Who knows what that nut job is going to do next.

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

Oh, my! Delusions of grandeur much…?

  6. ElBruce says:

Perhaps some of the “protestors” out there holding nooses might get confused, and some unpleasantness could result.

  9. edonline says:

I suppose Michelle Bachmann passes the loon test to be given membership. Or perhaps, to paraphrase the old television commercial, she shows up at Tea Party functions and says, “I’m not only a member of the lunacy of the Tea Party, I’m also the president”.

Thanks dixie blood for the link.

  12. bizarrobrain says:

So basically Steele kissed tea-bagger a** and got rejected? I guess you could say both groups hit a low point today: Steele for being…Steele and the tea-bagger’s and their racism (thinly veiled…this time).

  13. sc mom says:

could it be because Mr Steele is a different color?

    a video posted Jan 6, 2010:
2 journalists went inside “White Power” groups. They found these groups want to become more mainstream and they found it with the Tea Party (14.5 minutes in)

Just how much a** kissing does Steele have to do to become a member of the tea party/john birch society? Bachman and DeMint are their poster children……Scarey bunch! this is going to be an interesting election year.

These radical teabaggers are worse than terrorists; only they are torturing the rest of us with their radical religious views, lack of education, lack of intelligence, lack of fashion sense, and lack of teeth.

When your own party won’t [can't] accept you, who will? Steele has never been accepted by the GOP [and never will be] not only because of his color [they only like whites as evidenced by the man in the video in Crooks and Liars], but because of his stupidity and hubris. Because he hasn’t been in the news for about a month, he had to [even if it's below the fold].

  18. x-man says:

(What about all of the other prominent GOP politicians who have been at tea party protests?

He black!!!! On top of that, affirmative action does not work in the Tea Party Movement…lol….

Old mickey is getting a taste of his own medicine…

  19. tuckgraph says:

There’s no way Steele would be welcomed by the tea baggers. He wears glasses. That wreaks of “intellectual elitism.” Don’t even think about it, Mikey.

Tea Parties, Race, Republicans, and the Opposition to Obama
    by Leonard Zeskind

…Although race is at its core, this new movement has so far not declared itself explicitly and self-consciously racist. However, some white nationalist organizations and individuals have decided to change all that by trying to turn these melanin-deprived protests into a recruiting zone.

In this regard, national socialists and others created a discussion thread on the Stormfront website, calling for a Tea Party for Americans Coalition. “We need a relevant transitional envelop-pushing flyer for the masses. Take these Tea Party Americans by the hand and help them go from crawling to standing independently and then walking towards racialism,” one post argued.

    snip

Something new is developing, the ultimate shape of which has not yet been established. It looks now like an opposition “bloc,” with many different political elements: ultra-conservative Republicans of both the Pat Buchanan and free market variety; anti-tax Tea Party libertarians from the Ron Paul camp; Christian right activists intent on re-molding the country into their kind of Kingdom; birth certificate conspiracy theorists, anti-immigrant nativists of the armed Minuteman and the policy wonk variety; third party “constitutionalists;” and white nationalists of both the citizens councils and the Stormfront national socialist variety. …

the GOP is currently on probation with the American people and obviously you can’t be on probation and probably be a member of the Tea Parties at the same time.

Don’t be so modest, Mr. McQueen – I’m sure the “movement” has many, many members who are on probation for one reason and another.

  26. ElBruce says:

    tuckgraph says:

There’s no way Steele would be welcomed by the tea baggers. He wears glasses.

Or maybe it’s because he’s bald? He should perhaps wear a hat.

  27. evangenital says:

Steele doesn’t fit in racially with Sarah Palin’s concept of “real Americans.”

The teabaggers want a white-preferring evangelical theocracy.

That’s what makes this whole movement tick.

Any teabagger that tells you otherwise is a liar.

They are all racists, and they hate Obama because he is not white.

Obama could abolish the income tax, declare abortion illegal, and come out against gay rights and alternative energies, and they would still hate him, because he isn’t white.

  28. Buckie Boy says:

    …I understand what the movement’s about…

You racist, sore loser morons don’t have a clue about what you’re all about.

If any of you out there have ever been to one of these “TeaBagger” events, you know that they consist of the most moronic bunch of idiots you have ever encountered.

  29. okie dokie says:

I’m thinking Michael Steele would join anything for the right price.

  30. tombaker says:

    “Army of Davids”

  32. brothejr says:

What is up with this probation thing? So now the GOP is on probation? It seemed as if the Tea Party and GOP were arm and arm together?

Is Dick Armies little grass roots lobbyist funded ultra right wingers escaping front the grasp of the GOP elders?

Hmm… do I smell a split starting to form among the conservative groups?

  33. evangenital says:

Neil Cavuto invited this clown on his show because Neil Cavuto is one of them, and is just as racist as they are.

  34. Mathazar says:

So I assume we’ll see some anti-republican protest signs at the next teabagger rally,(misspelled of course.)

  35. Bozo The Neoclown says:

“Local Tea Party co-founder doesn’t want Steele ‘out there with the tea partiers.’”

i’d say that’s a benefit for mikey steele. afterall, what decent people want to be associate with that scumbag filth known as the “teabagging terrorists”?

  36. evangenital says:

SC Mom at 23, thanks for that post.

The teabaggers that I know here in Florida are all a bunch of racists, many of them rather poorly educated and poorly socialized people.

They blame the government for allowing the darker “other” to invade this nation and take over the jobs and mate with “their” women.

They view Obama’s mother as a race traitor, and they use this language openly.

  37. okie dokie says:

So, who’s the GOP’s probation officer?

Shouldn’t we know who to call if we see the Repugs consorting with felons or in possession of stolen property?

mcqueen also appears to speak the “palinese” dialect. read his quote carefully, and get out your red pens.

i always feel a little embarrassed for someone who tries to use turns of phrase they are not fluent with, or tries to “dress up” their regular manner of speech to sound more important or intelligent, and that’s exactly what the in-way-over-his-head mr. mcqueen does in this apprearance with mr. cavuto.

  41. okie dokie says:

    An army of Davids . . .

I may need to reread that story.

I don’t remember “David” being a corporate tool.

  42. Bozo The Neoclown says:

i don’t know who mcqueen thinks he’s kidding. the teabagging filth are the repukes “base” now that they’ve chased off all of the moderates and independents. i hope that strategy works out as well for them as i think it will…

beatin’s too good for’em, and jailin’em wouldn’t go far enough.

  48. ElBruce says:

To clarify, the GOP is “on probation” until they get rid of Steele.

  49. jeaton says:

So with Steele, the number of black tea party members is up to, what, three?

Why can’t an African American get elected to office as a

  55. pete says:

On the other hand. It’s difficult to parody the teabaggers. They started from the point of being caricatures of all they claim to espouse and have grown more ridiculous, and disgusting, with each passing day.

  56. linzloo08 says:

    Oh..My..Gosh.. Hehe lol..
Lets see how well the teabaggers are united in ‘12! They’re starting to split already: The Morons vs The Racist Morons who hate Obama just because of his skin color Yeah, they’ll really do some damage in two years. Too bad it’ll be on their side, not ours..

  57. Bozo The Neoclown says:

“Why can’t an African American get elected to office as a

because they filled their quota with steele would be my best guess.

  59. pete says:

  61. tombaker says:

it’s all too very bad, because i’m sure a fair # of these folks are otherwise ok, decent neighbors, coworkers, and whatever else…

too see them blindered and belligerent because of some monied up slick-dicks with glossy brochures and free hot dogs is just goddamned disheartening.

but – every chapter of history tells a similar tale, so what’s anyone, really, to do about it?

  62. pete says:

    Bozo,

“Army of Dooshbags, “Army of Dimwits”, “Army of Defectives”, “Army of Dillholes”, “Army of Dumbphucks”. One can, pretty much, apply any negative and it fits. Heh! And that’s just the ones that begin with “D”.

  63. gummitch says:

I heard Dick Armey on the radio today explaining that the GOP has its greatest electoral victories when it embraces the Far Right Wingnuts (although he phrased it differently). Dick ought to come out to Oregon to see how that has played out in the real world. He also claimed that this was true everywhere except in those Gerrymandered regions where the Democrat[sic] Party had distorted the true voting patterns (presumably of “real Americans”)–clearly, only through fraud could any region of the country embrace liberalism. I did want to ask why he was an Ex-congressman.

He was also whining about how real conservatives had occasionally been able to advance their system under Republicans but never under Democrats, but I don’t recall him claiming that their system ever worked. Not that I expect honesty from Dick Armey…

  64. MapleStreet says:

So, putting my distaste for Steele aside, Tea Baggers are holding a public demonstration for a certain political idea. Demonstration is in a public area.

And they are telling people who can and can’t be part of their public protest.

  65. pete says:

    tombaker:

You’ve got that right. I know lots of people, smart people and good, who have ended up drinking the FAUX Kool-Aid. Plus? They hate black people. Living in rural Minnesota; they’ve never met a black person but that doesn’t stop the hate. They remind me of “fussy” children who won’t eat anything that looks funny.

  70. evangenital says:

These teabaggers were all poor students in school, and barely learned anything.

Now they’re braying out Obama, gays and the Third Reich.

Scott Lively, the holy roller scumbag who helped the Ugandan government draft its kill-the-gays (or anyone suspected), is now going around claiming that the gays in the Third Reich were chiefly responsible for the extermination of the Jews.

That a$$hole conveniently ignores the oft-proven fact that gays and socialists were among the first victims of the Third Reich, rounded up as early as 1934 into “labor” camps, with many later being gassed simultaneously with the Jews, gypsies, trade unionists, seminary professors and other types that didn’t fit in with the very stringent requirements of the “ubermenschen.”

Whenever you see a pink triangle associated with the struggle for full gay civil rights, you should know that the pink triangle was worn by gays in the concentration camps, to single them out from Jews and from other different categories of inmates.

Some of the same gay men, who had managed to stay alive during over ten years of Nazi detention were later imprisoned for “crimes against nature” by the Soviet-bloc nations after the war.

Scott Lively and the racist teabaggers are indicative of the sort of filth driving the repiggie bus these days.

  71. bizarrobrain says:

    evangenital,
I would like to say that Scott Lively is an idiot. But who is to say whom is the bigger idiot, the idiot himself or the idiots who follow him? Lively is a very dangerous individual as long as there are those that lend what he says any credibility whatsoever. That his nonsense gets any traction tells us a lot about the nature of deeply seated bigotry, and how easily those that follow blindly are far more deadly as instruments of the fantastic lies he and those of his ilk make up. So I think “theocratic fascist” would describe Mr. Lively accurately.

“Niger” is the Latin masculine for “black” in English.

  118. dbadass says:

  121. Geogre says:

Although Michael Steele may not be aware of this fact, he is Black, and, although Michael Steele and Michelle Bachman will deny it and Dick’s Armey will feign outrage when it’s mentioned, the Baggots are motivated by racism. When they say, “America has been taken over,” they don’t mean by a Democrat. When they say “Communist…no, I mean Fascist… or Islamic… or Illuminatus,” they mean, in all their words, “We can’t say ‘Black man,’ but you know how much Black people hate ‘us,’ and so he hates ‘us,’ and so we hate him, and so he’s a communist fascist.”

Michael Steele would not be welcomed by the Baggots indeed. Even if he were not shallow, obviously hypocritical, and unctious, he continues to serve a party dedicated to fostering racism, a party that institutionalizes racism within its ranks, and this offshoot is the rebellious ugly cousins of that party, the group of “Republicans” who are so filled with racism that they would rather have a civil war than democracy.

He might as well have said, “I’ve said for a long time that I’m a self-hating Black man, and, if I weren’t head of the RNC, I’d be out there with the Baggots shouting about how Blacks are incapable of leading the nation.”

Exactly what is “a original British dictionary?”

The British are so much smarter than our kilt-wearing butt flasher thinks, and any compilers of any dictionary would have studied Latin quite well, because so much of our language has terms with origins in Latin, despite our language’s strong Germanic foundation.

  135. Geogre says:

What’s all this folderol about “niger?” The Latin term for black? Yes, it means black. That’s all. There is no “ignorant” involved. “Niggardly” meant “sparing, cheap,” with sometimes an association of ignorance when applied to wits. However, one must be an ignoramus (I was so ashamed when Gretchen Carlsson quoted me on air, claiming she had to look up the meaning of the word) to confuse these terms, and one must be a simple racist to try to rehabilitate an obscenity.

I have only looked at comment threads at TP for a day now, and I must say one thing comes to mind. It’s old advice, but it’s good: DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS.

They get a special thrill in the bottoms of their stoma when they think they spend their days “setting liberals straight.” Ignore them. Let the fools feel foolish by the silence with which they are met. Respond to their lies and idiocies, and you will give them a sense of righteous mission and ensure that we have more and more of them.

Did you see this picture yet? The guy holding it is in charge of the “teaparty.org” website.

Frankly, I’ve been wracking my brain trying to think of some other reason that the right wing doesn’t embrace Steele. Right after taking control of the RNC, they even tried to revoke his power to disburse campaign money. Nobody ever follows his lead, and now the teabaggers don’t want him at their events, even though Bachmann, Armey and a host of other GOP figures have been allowed and invited to speak?

So if you’ve got an alternate theory, please let’s hear it.

    .

    Matthew 4:19

    I feel sorry for you.

    Say what?

    18. As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.
    19. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”
    20. At once they left their nets and followed him.

WTF are you talking about there? Sounds to me like another instance of Jesus opposing the free market and inviting his followers to enter into an economic collective. This is relevant to what how?

    .

    braveheart08 says:

Interesting… would you support him in a primary run against say, Palin, Romney and Huckabee?

    .

    braveheart08 says:

If you look in a original British dictionary the word niger means ignorant

No. No, it does not. You’re just making that up. Or the racist bigot who told you that did. “Niger” is, was, and has always been only the name of a river and/or region in Africa, and that is all.

Go find one of these “British” dictionaries and see for yourself. Or try this one, which combines Webster’s 1913 and 1828 unabridged dictionaries, neither of which have any such term. I only get a hit going back to middle English, in which “niger” means “some kind of black stone with magical properties.” There are no other meanings, or they would have come up in one of those. If there was an informal meaning between middle and modern English, it would be a reference to blackness, not to ignorance.

Playing the “it’s not on the Internet” game isn’t ever going to work for you. It only amounts to waving a white flag of desperation at us.

Anyone who tried to bastardize the term and use it to apply to a meaning of “ignorant” are themselves racists and doing so for racist reasons. But it has never stuck to enough of a degree to make it into any dictionary. Never. No matter how much you KKK freaks would like it to, you have failed in this as in everything else you’ve ever tried.

the N-word (however you prefer to misspell it) has never referred to an ignorant person; rather, it is only used by them.

It does rather beggar the imagination that anyone could be so viciously stupid as to use such a phrase — in or out of a KKK meeting — and imagine that it labels them as anything other than pathetic, swinish racists.

I still find myself trying to come up with a gentle way of informing people that the phrase, “Some of my best friends are black,” is like a big, pastel name-tag that says,

    Hi, I’m a Racist!
    Ask me how!

But this particular example is so singularly disgusting that I am at a loss to imagine what measure of verbal abuse and vituperation could possibly be heaped upon the animal spewing it that could even begin to approach the degree of unqualified contempt the person uttering it actually merits.

*Conservatives stood for the status quo as Loyalists, willing to be subjects to an unelected King. They were wrong.
*Liberal Framers like John Adams and Ben Franklin tried to write the declaration of a new nation that would consider all men free. Conservatives from the South fought (and won) for the exclusion of this language, and ensured that blacks would be enslaved for another 89 years. They were wrong.
*Pro-business conservatives tried to block child labor laws. They were wrong.
*Conservatives fought against women’s right to vote. They were wrong.
*Conservatives banned alcohol. They were disastrously wrong.
*Conservatives fought to keep interracial marriage illegal. They were wrong.
*Conservatives stood for integrated schools and against the Civil Rights Act. They were wrong.

*Conservatives tried to stop the creation of Social Security for our elderly citizens. They were wrong.

    1. He is NOT a member of our Leadership team.

    2. He owns a website with which we have never been affiliated.

    3. He has never been a part of organizing any of the Tea Party rallies in the Houston area, or any other area that we can find.

    5. We do not choose to associate with people that use his type of disgusting language.

Excellent point. At that point in time, they didn’t have anything to be patriotic to. Actually it was simply a matter of tea smugglers committing vandalism against the British East India Company in response to the EIC slashing the tax rate on its tea to “price” the smugglers out of business. Which is to say, they weren’t doing it for any higher principle.

Of course, it was a politically useful event, and others later capitalized on it in service of some pretty great political principles. But at the time, it was merely a case of property destruction for economic reasons by criminals.

#190 …And this is why they think we’re all elitists. Maybe you’re not aware of it, but your tone comes off as totally pompous, condescending and arrogant.

I for one am sick to death of being expected to dumb myself down to match the tone of people who are, objectively, morans. But I’m willing to offer a truce: we’ll stop being so pompous, condescending and arrogant when they stop being such knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing imbeciles.

My reply was directed specifically to evangenital’s cited comment (although a few of his/her others were on a similar level.) I think it’s possible to not “dumb yourself down” without sounding like a total prick. Sure there’s a lot of ignorance going around. I just think constructive criticism might have more of a chance of getting through to someone and making them consider things than insults, I guess.

And both of you? Just stop feeding them. Or is it your own egos you have to feed?

I find that responding to trolls often spurs me to do research, assemble logical arguments, and think of insights that I might not have come up with if we were just having an echo chamber where everybody agreed. Even the stupidest, most insulting troll can tee up a shot for his betters.

Sorry, I guess there is a misunderstanding or different interpretation of terminology here. I define feeding trolls as responding with the sort of comments that are more likely to hijack a discussion than contribute to it. Responding with something that does advance the topic is another matter.

On most other sites, a voting system could eliminate a post entirely, rather than just hiding it in the javascript. Or even lead to automatic banning.

That was pretty much what I meant by “completely censored”, and I thought you were missing my entire point until the second paragraph. Yes, that was my complaint, that anything said was being voted down, just because the person’s a known troll.

BTW, science isn’t totally infallible, either. Look at all the scientific beliefs of the past that we laugh at today. But they were all accepted as fact once, in their time. Likewise, don’t assume all we accept today as fact won’t also be proven wrong at some future time.

I don’t think anybody here ever claimed that science has a working Total Theory of Everything. I don’t think anybody who understands science ever made such a claim either.

The fact that science is willing to admit its errors and improve itself is a strength, not a show of weakness.

I never claimed that anyone specifically claimed those things. :) I just seem to see a lot of posts on the blogs, generally, where people do act like they think science has the ultimate answer, always, when refuting the the most close-minded religious types. In other words, they seem just as adamant, just as certain, as their opponents and of course neither side convinces the other of anything. And honestly? I think history shows that it may take as long as centuries before science might admit to a particular mistake. Look how ostracized many discoverers of new concepts were in their own lifetimes, and it was later generations which exonerated them. So, perhaps just a wee lil bit o’ weakness in there.

What’s a British dictionary? British isn’t a language.Samuel Johnson wrote the first reliable ENGLISH dictionary in the 1750s (remember, spelling and even definition and grammar forms weren’t standard in the early uses of English, which as a a formal language isn’t all that old).

So anyway, what’s this “British” language?

I think it’s more to protect their movement. If Steele were to appear there would be an uproar, because he’s black, and if it were caught on video, the footage would do much to tar them as racists. It a prophylactic political move.

The Power of One can change a nation, save a people and illuminate a generation. Much like Tiananmen Square, Dale stood alone representing the American people.

Uhhh…you might want to read and learn. “Tank Man” made no difference. Last I checked, China was still a Communist Nation, and most of the people who supported the protest in 1989 were arrested, deported, and/or executed – if not still in hiding. It’s strongly rumored that “Tank Man” himself was executed shortly after his stand.

Depends on who your dealing with. Many of the stupid feel free to be not only ignorami but low-blowing cretins as well. Taking the high road only leaves the more intelligent party at a disadvantage. See both Al Gore and John Kerry vs. George W. Bush for examples.

In any case, thanks for your constructive criticism, and for your concern.

Too true, shoeless, but allow me to perservere. While British is not a language, English is. The Oxford English Dictionary defines both ‘niger’ and the other ‘n’ word and does so unambivalently. In neither case does it define the word as meaning ignorant.

Niger is simply an equivalent to “neger” or “negro”. The other n word is classed as a substantive, as an alteration of neger; the first definition (1.a) is “a negro”, and states that the word is a colloquialism and usually contemptuous. Def. 1.b is “loosely or incorrectly applied to members of other dark skinned races. Def. 2.a is “the black caterpillar of the turnip saw-fly”, and 2.b refers to another larval form and 2.c to a marine animal of some sort. Def 3 refers to several types of steam engine, then 4 gets into soapmaking. Def 5 is the combinatorial form, usually perjorative, etc and so on. Nowhere is either word defined as being an equivalent to “ignorant”.

Braveheart is just a racist twerp, and ignorant to boot. He is apparently unaware that all of those words stem, linguistically, from the Latin word for black, which is, of course, niger. It was applied to a river and two nations in Africa, the Niger River, which runs through both Niger and Nigeria, and in it’s various other forms, ie “negro”, etc, to Africans. Of course, the Niger is probably not called the Niger by the various tribes that live on it or near it, and Niger and Nigeria are political areas which were defined by Europeans and may not last all that much longer, now that the colonialists are gone; a couple of centuries from now it may all be dust.

That is a complete and utter lie. But I will say this, the Tea Party movement is not looking for any party to bow down and say, “We’re listening now, please just slap our hand and we’ll be good!” This is about loosing our freedoms in the form of not being able to afford them just to touch on the tip of that iceberg! Government is way out of control and they’re going to have to do more than just apologize and we absolutely know B.S. when we hear it!
