Pat Robertson Cites Haiti’s Earthquake As What Happens When You ‘Swear A Pact To The Devil’

Haiti is now struggling to recover from a devastating earthquake that hit the island nation on Tuesday, with the death toll reaching far into the thousands. The disaster “left the country in a shambles, tangling efforts to provide relief to an estimated 3 million people who the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies said had been affected by the quake.” Many aid groups, however, are also struggling with their own dead and wounded employees.

Today on his 700 Club television show, Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson highlighted the tragedy and said that his network will be there “to help the people.” However, he then tried to offer an explanation for the earthquake, blaming Haiti’s own people for once making a “pact to the devil”:

ROBERTSON: [S]omething happened a long time ago in Haiti and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French. Napoleon the Third and whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, “We will serve you if you get us free from the prince.” True story. And so the devil said, “OK, it’s a deal.” They kicked the French out, the Haitians revolted and got themselves free.

But ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after the other, desperately poor. That island of Hispaniola is one island. It’s cut down the middle, on the one side is Haiti, on the other side is the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is prosperous, healthy, full of resorts, etc. Haiti is in desperate poverty. Same island.

They need to have, and we need to pray for them, a great turning to God. And out of this tragedy I’m optimistic something good may come. But right now, we’re helping the suffering people and the suffering is unimaginable.

Watch it:

It’s highly doubtful that Robertson knows anything about why the earthquake occurred. This is the same person who said that then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon had a stroke in 2006 because he was “dividing God’s land” and claimed that God sent Hurricane Katrina as punishment for the country’s sins, such as legalized abortion.

(HT: Greg Mitchell and Political Carnival)

Update Today, hate radio host Rush Limbaugh also said that President Obama will use the Haiti disaster to boost credibility with the "light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country."
Update Shortly after the September 11th terror attacks, Robertson agreed with fellow televangelist Jerry Falwell that the ACLU deserves to "take a lot of the blame for this." "You helped this happen," Falwell said of the civil rights group. "I totally concur," Robertson responded. "The problem is we adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our government."
Update NBC's Joe Scarborough thinks it's ridiculous that journalists are calling attention to Robertson's comments, writing on Twitter, "MSM will now obsess over Pat Robertson's 'devil' comment but will pay no attention to his organization's remarkable relief work worldwide."

Robertson does, on the other hand, know a lot about what happens when you swear a pact with the Devil.

It was Napoleon Bonaparte you psychopathic hatemonger and the actual histories seem to omit the pact with the devil part. Congratulations Pat, you flunk history, theology and compassion all in one moronic statement. Get sick and die!

Following that logic, that’s the same reason why Ronald Reagan contracted Alzheimer’s disease.

9/11, Hurricanes Andrew and Katrina, and the Space Shuttle disasters are what happens when you elect a conservative to the presidency.

  13. Marie says:

    Fcuking idiot.
This self-proclaimed prophet who hears from god on a daily basis is an evil, stupid man.
He doesn’t even consider that the power he gives to Satan puts the devil on equal level with the god Robertson says he beliieves in. With stupefying ignorance, he assigns good events to god and bad events to the devil. Were that ridiculous assumption to be true, I think the devil is winning.
There is no god controlling events – and there is no satan in an eternal duel with him.

We should do all we can to help the people of Haiti, as we should help all people in the world who suffer — excuse me if I think prayers are useless.

  14. zxbe says:

According to Wikipedia, Haiti is 83.7% Christian.

And according to the news, many Christian organizations are trying to set up relief operations there. While Pat sits back on his butt, collects his fat salary, and says “they had it coming.”

That’s the same reason why Robertson makes an awesome fool of himself on a regular basis.

  18. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

So, to paraphrase Flip Wilson’s “Geraldine”: If it wasn’t for the Devil, Pat Robertson wouldn’t even have a job.

  19. NinerFan says:

Badmoodman, do you expect people to ignore conservative Christians as if they aren’t there? That’s how they infiltrated school boards across the country.

When Robertson says the Haitians made a pact with the devil is he referring to voodoo? Weird. Does that mean he thinks that they were being punished for their beliefs?

    As for Rush…

He said the same thing regarding Darfur. That the Dems only supported intervention to shore up the black vote.

Seeing as how he’s a good Christian and all…he’ll be burning in hell soon enough.

  40. DRxJ says:

I’m not sure which is more amazing. That Pat’s allowed to spew his bigoted vile over the airways, or the fact that he’s still alive!
That said, there is so much wrong with his little “sermon”, but I’ll only point out one:
The Dominican Republic is prosperous, healthy, full of resorts, etc

Ummmmm really? Because from what I heard, you never EVER want to leave your beach side resort to interact with the locals due to the high crime and poverty.

But, I did hear that young boys are much cheaper there, right Oxybreath?

  41. ljm says:

I’m sure the the folks in the Dominican Republic will be trilled to hear that they are “prosperous!” Get off your money counting chair and see the real world, Pat.

This is just more proof that evangelical christianity in America is nothing more than a political hate cult. There is nothing ‘christian’ about these people. Their actions and words are not christ centered, they are no different than the taliban. They want to compare President Obama to Hitler and then sit there and watch the human suffering in the aftermath of this disaster and without blinking blame the victims. Hate is the fuel that runs the evangelical engine and the needle shows a full tank.

  69. P.D. says:

Sadly, the answer is extremely Christian.

If Pat and God are BFF’s…
why didn’t HE tell Pat to tell the Haitians to change their wicked ways or else HE’d give them an earth-quaking they wouldn’t soon forget?

And what about all the other less powerful earthquakes that have occur ( and continue to occur) that don’t kill anyone?
    What are those for?

Are those lesser quakes because the plants and animals effected were/are just mildly misbehaving, according to ‘God’?

  83. Dr. Hussein Matt says:

    bothWrong says:
Unfortunately for Haiti, much of this is true by their own claim. I have personally met some people from Haiti. THEY will tell you about the “pact with the devil”.

Sure you have. I bet you see Russia from your front door too.

  84. P.D. says:

    P.D.
He also blamed Katrina on gay tolerance and other sexual “sins.” Which is odd because God must have crappy aim if he destroyed several churches but left the red light district of New Orleans pretty much un-touched.

  89. belaccifer lacca says:

This didn’t start with Pat Robertson, this is a part of what a citizen of Haiti will tell you about themselves.

And Pat will happily tell you the story of how he was ’saved’ by the torture and murder of his prophet 2000 years ago…

Do you think that the Devil is really punishing Haiti? And if so, how do we stop it? Who do we call to negotiate here?

Do Robert Johnson’s descendants have any information about that late night crossroads meeting with the Devil where he got all that talent?

Can someone resurrect Daniel Webster? Turns out the whole island of Haiti is a Jabez Stone… Jeebuz.

  90. pete says:

As satisfying as it might be to split some fundies’ heads, that would just make them martyrs. I was thinking more along the lines of organized boycotts, from within churches, of CBN and any other project the Pat Robertsons of the world may be involved in. Shun them. Excommunicate them. Flood their phones and websites. March on their megachurces and shut them down. And, most importantly, call them out for their unspeakable evil.

Unfortunately, it can’t come from atheists, it has to come from decent Christians. And, if their own pastors, priests, and preachers refuse to join in? Find a way to empty their own churches. It’s time for decent Christians to organize and stop the vile crap.

  91. 5th Estate says:

  93. Hoodathunk says:

Face it, this isn’t about Haiti. This quake could have hit St Louis, Cincinnati, Colorado Springs, anywhere and Pat would have found some way of claiming it as Gawd’s retribution.

Many of the indigenous cultures of the Americas have religious practices that are a combination of x-tianity and their native beliefs.

The catholic faith has long elevated the concept of a devil to equal status with the x-tian god.

Native cultures found it difficult to reconcile the teachings of the priests about a god who was supposedly benevolent and kind and would save you from the devil, but would kill, enslave and torture you if you didn’t adhere to the dogma and pay your tithe.

  100. bizarrobrain says:

Pat Robertson is the f**king devil. I may be an atheist but I know evil when I see it. Instead of setting aside his religious beliefs to talk about aiding people in their time of need, he had to open his f**king mouth.

  101. sluggo says:

The best part is the real motivation for such a statement.

Pat is not stupid or a wild-eyed raving religious lunatic. I am sure in his heart (assuming there is one) he really doesn’t believe the nonsense he spouts. Remember, his T.V. show is really about making money. If he thinks his regular viewers (who are mostly stupid and wild-eyed raving religious lunatics) will give more money to his church if he says crazy stuff, then he will say it.

Who is worse – a crazy religious lunatic or a cynical self-serving huckster willing to take advantage of the mentally deranged?

  102. ElBruce says:

There was this dude named Jesus a while abck who posited (among other things) that each individual person had their own relationship with God, and that God didn’t curse or bless entire nations or towns or whatnot, but rather dealt with each individual separately. Started his own religion and everything.

I don’t know what religion Pat Robertson believes in, but it ain’t Christianity.

  103. clydedog says:

In the early 90s I used to watch a little of his show in the morning and share his crazy conspiracies with my coworkers at lunch. He really hated Clinton and accused him of every imaginable crime. His show is what fixed news is patterned after. They would sit around and say “I heard this” and “I read that” (never citing sources) to try and justify their lies. They used each other as credible sources. This man has said so many horrible things about so many people it has certainly overshadowed any good that may have slipped in. My minister at the time would use him as an example of a false prophet. He was one of the first to prove it was not about religion, but power over peoples lives.

  104. pete says:

    neoconsrscum,

I must disagree. He’s not crazy, he’s vile. The mentally ill deserve compassion. Marion “Pat’ Robertson deserves the contempt of every decent person on earth.

There is nothing remarkable or otherworldly about the philosophies ascribed to Christ. They are humanist, rational concepts that have bee posited by many others in other parts of the world and in older historical contexts than that which Christ is supposed to have occupied.

(sorry PatrioticLiberalChristian in case you are looking in, bu that’s what I ‘believe;—its not a condemnation, just a discrete criticism).

3Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

4I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

5As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

What comes out of Robertson’s mouth is not surprising. He is part of the culture war that has been going on since the 1950’s when the religious lost influence over a significant portion of the population. This war began with rock and roll, comic books, and prayer in the public schools. The war continues to present with new issues. Much like Reagan, Robertson yearns for the good old days when ministers and priests had great influence.

Within the next ten days, slaves had taken control of the entire Northern Province in an unprecedented slave revolt that left the whites in control of only a few isolated, fortified camps. ”

Could this be what Pat Robertson was refering too?

  147. Bozo The Neoclown says:

“this article in French addresses the ambiguity and abeyance of the whole divine curse idea.”

from the article you started bothWrong.

Let me take a shot at the root of this story.
the monarchy of france felt (much like the rest of the royalty of europe during the time) they were chosen by divine intervention to be kings and queens. therefore, it is logical to assume the only way a colony such as haiti could overthrow rule by a “divine ruler” was by making a pact with the devil.

    I know, pete.

    here’s the trouble(s).

    1) Christ is accepted as the Son of God by Christians, yes?
God is a lying evil vindictive bastard.
Christ actually rejected almost everything ‘of God’.
But he’s still the Son of God and indivisible from him.
SO what does that make a Christian? —A ‘believer’ in God, the evil vindictive bastard.

2)Formal Christianity is run and operated by the likes of the Pope, Pat Robertson etc. Like ‘God’ they are all evil vindictive bastards.
“Decent Christians” have no control over the ‘brand’. They are subservient to it and can’t change it. So they shouldn’t subscribe to it. They HAVE THE CHOICE==Jesus said so, and it;s true in fact as well. (in comparison,I choose to be a Democrat because it’s better than being a Republican and I do have the option to change in some way the nature of the Democratic Party).

SO,,,,”decent Christians” could band together and make their own religion and operate it as decent Christians, or they could refuse to subscribe to ANY organization under ‘Christian” banner (call themselves ‘Nazarene’ for instance) and keep their faith personal and private, as Christ suggested.

Haiti’s regional, historical, and ethnolinguistic position is unique for several reasons. It was the first independent nation in Latin America, the first post-colonial independent Black-led nation in the world, and the only nation whose independence was gained as part of a successful slave rebellion

It’s crazy that Robertson would describe a population overthrowing foreign occupation and enslavement as “a pact with the devil”???? That is mindbogglingly evil of robertson. Haiti’s overthrow of french rule under the leadership of Toussaint L’Overture was the epitome of liberty and democracy. It should be applauded.

  155. EugeneDebs says:

    bothwrong

It is time to remind you of your ORIGINAL CLAIM

Unfortunately for Haiti, much of this is true by their own claim.

So what is the claim you are saying is mostly true? Back to Robertson

[S]omething happened a long time ago in Haiti and people might not want to talk about it.

So you are claiming that it is mostly true that the Haitians swore a pact with the Devil to win their revolution, a slave revolt actually, against France and your evidence of this is some STORIES YOU HEARD? Are you freaking KIDDING ME? Some legends have you claiming that the Haitians swore a pact with the devil, REALLY? Please tell me this is an elaborate joke

Sadly his words are coming from a person who claims to be a religious person, supported by tax free income.
While people are dying in Haiti from a devastating earthquake, Pat is busy selling his racism.

  196. linzloo08 says:

BTW, if anyone is interested in helping the Presbyterian Church (USA) with their relief effort in Haiti, here’s a way to contribute to the relief effort

  197. flavorino says:

NBC’s Joe Scarborough: “MSM will now obsess over Pat Robertson’s ‘devil’ comment but will pay no attention to his organization’s remarkable relief work worldwide.”

Hmmm Joe’s got a point there about the how the media is lax on reporting…
like when Lori Klausutis was found in Joe’s office dead one morning with a cracked skull shortly before he resigned from Congress to “spend more time with his family”…..
the media paid no attention to that story….actually I don’t recall hearing that one at all in the corporate media..
I only became aware of it years later because of the internets.
    Wonder why.

  198. ChadATX says:

    Hey Pat: STFU. KTHX.

  199. Virtual Pebble says:

Well, Pat Robertson should know something about selling out to the Devil. That poor damned Lucifer is probably still wondering about when he’s going to get to collect on all the times he’s had to repurchase Pat’s soul.

Looks like Port au Prince is built really close to a major fault, but that shouldn’t surprise anyone; there’s a string of volcanoes running right down that string of islands, and they aren’t dead. There’s a respectable correlation between volcanos and fault zones.

  200. pags2 says:

    5th Estate says:
Eleventy-billion contradictions and fallacies about God and Christ, and you want to fault me for a perceived flaw in my argument? :D

I think your premise is wrong because you can harmonize God and Christ. But I will take your word on the number of contradictions and fallacies. I don’t have that many fingers and toes.

    glamourdammerung says:
    Actually, you are not correct.

    Matthew 5:17-18
    Luke 16:16-17

I think those are quite ambiguous. There was God given law (Ten Commandments) and man made law. While Christ was aware of both, he chose ambiguity. We have to assume those statements were correctly reported by Matthew and Luke.

  201. xenon says:

And Pat Robertson is what happens when you think like a Nazi.

  202. glogrrl says:

After reading what Robertson said on national (Faux Noise) TV, I went directly to the Red Cross website and donated $50. If everyone who read that article did that, it would do a lot more good than paying to Robertson’s pagan god. Yet another reason I gave up organized religion. If there is a hell, I’m sure God (if there is a God) has a nice warm place reserved for Mr. Robertson.

  203. glogrrl says:

Excuse me, I meant “praying to Robertson’s pagan god.” My bad.

  204. Parlezvous says:

Pat should hesitate to reveal himself in this way. The reason he knows what the Devil has done is because he is, himself, the Devil.

If stupid were a malignant disease, Pat would have been dead years ago.

  205. glamourdammerung says:

    @207

    pags2 says:

I think those are quite ambiguous.

I think you are attempting to backpedal. A statement that the OT laws still applies is pretty unambiguous.

  206. linzloo08 says:

    xenon says:

    ——————————————————————————–

And Pat Robertson is what happens when you think like a Nazi.

Which is why he’s in no position to call the people of Haiti “sinners”.. If anybody’s evil, it’s definately him.

  207. har5125 says:

NBC’s Joe Scarborough thinks it’s ridiculous that journalists are calling attention to Robertson’s comments,

That is true Joe, how about they instead focus on how did Lori Klausutis die in your office, and why you were in such a hurry to leave Congress?

  208. tarazan says:

So according to Pat, Haitians should not have freed themselves from their slave masters the French,
and should have stayed slaves. But because they did free
themselves from the French, and refused to live as slaves, then they had sworn to the Devil.

What kind of twisted logic is this…? !

  209. Texas Aggie says:

I have worked my whole life in relief work and I have never heard that Robertson’s group has done diddly squat, or that they even exist. The only foreign connection I know of is that Robertson had a business deal with the one of the bloodiest criminals on the face of the earth, Robert Taylor, the former dictator of Liberia, concerning some gold mines.

Given Robertson’s penchant for grabbing attention, I sincerely doubt that he wouldn’t be advertising his relief efforts if they existed.

  210. konchster says:

Since he is the devil he should know

  211. clydedog says:

What kind of twisted logic is this…? !

It is racist logic. Blacks could not have been capable of freeing themselves. If whites didn’t do it, it must have been the devil. I would still like to know when exactly did this occur, what was the actual deal, and what did the devil actually do (he said the “Haitians revolted and set themselves free”) God should be able to fill him in on the deal next time they talk.

  212. Texas Aggie says:

    excuse me, Charles Taylor.

  213. NinerFan says:

He is a sick man and the people who follow him and send him money are sick.

Excuse me, I meant “praying to Robertson’s pagan god.” My bad.

No, “paying” makes sense. Robertson demands a steady flow of cash for his dark god of death and hatred, masquerading as the Biblical Jehovah.

  215. just the bleepn facts says:

If you believe in Satan you are by definition a pagan since Satan is a pagan god. “Only one god” is clear and it doesn’t leave room for minor gods like “angels and demons”. Those concepts polluted the Jewish faith when the Jews were slaves in Babylon and “angels” were borrowed from the local religion… Much like how the Jews started to worship Egyptian gods when they were in Egypt… These ignorant XTian fools really bore me… ZZzzz..

  216. glamourdammerung says:

Poor ol’ Pat is already crying about how everyone is picking on him for being a jerk.

  217. marlow says:

Amazing, the bitterness with which white capitalists regard this once-proud nation. Leave it to Robertson to inject his sulfurous poison into yet another mind-bending human tragedy. Forget the attaining of grace, Pat the False can’t even exercise basic humanity.

  218. wizard2000 says:

    Oral Roberts…meet…Anal-Retentive Robertson.

  219. Mr. Cobb says:

It’s telling that these hucksters never condemn the greed and theft of Wall Street.

  220. linzloo08 says:

    @227
Yea I guess according to their bible, greed and theft are ok, but helping out someone else in need is sacreligious.. I’d like to see their bible though, ’cause it dosen’t sound like my version of the bible at all. Turdbrains..

  221. candide says:

Scarborough faults the critics who are repulsed by Robertson’s superstitious idiocy and mean spirited attack on a devastated people? Joe, you’re just as bad as Robertson!

  222. EugeneDebs says:

    PatheticPatrick

Did you really try that pitiful bit of stupidity in two different threads? You are a punkass troll. You are so disgustingly ignorant you make me sick

  223. Virtual Pebble says:

@ 208. xenon says: And Pat Robertson is what happens when you think like a Nazi. January 13th, 2010 at 6:10 pm

Nah, Pat Robertson is what you get when you think like a brain-damaged Christo-Fascist coot. It’s kind of like a Nazi, except the Nazis were cranking on some old German pagan stuff while trying to turn the church into a direct instrument of the state.

Fascist isn’t quite right either; Mussolini did have at least formally correct relations with The Church, and Robertson will probably tell anyone off the record that those Papists are demonists and the Pope is in league with the devil, just like the Haitians.

Can’t call Robertson a Falangist either. While they were just as Fascist as the Fascists, the Falangists were on cordial terms with The Church.

Let’s change that defining phrase for Robertson to “brain-damaged Christo-authoritarian wingnut coot”.

  224. EugeneDebs says:

    PatheticPatrick

You are a liar and a punk. I criticized Reid. A bunch of liberals here criticized him. He didnt get off nor was he absolved. Feingold publicly took him to task. He appologized, but when it happened the left was all over him. You are such an ignorant and pathetic liar. You are so stupid you just spew out whatever Rush told you to think and you couldnt care LESS about the reality of the situation. God you are a brainwashed moron. AND a liar

  225. DreamsofProgress says:

    patrick5 says:

Reid can say all kinds of racist BS but it is okay because the votes right, shouldn’t Robertson be allowed to say stupid racists things because he gives money to the poor? If not, why not?

I happen to believe that one person doing something wrong never excuses another person doing something wrong. I can understand why they do it, but it’s still wrong. Also, consider the context. Reid made a dumb comment for a writer based on what his thinking was. He chose to say them, and now he’s getting shit for it from all over.

Pat Robertson basically kicked in the teeth an entire nation of people who just went through an earthquake that took hundreds if not thousands of their lives and destroyed their capital city by telling them that they earned the miserable tragedy that befell them.

So you tell me, is there an equivalency here? Is there a moral highground for defending Pat Robertson’s comments? Do we simply say ‘oh well it’s fine for him to say these things because somebody somewhere else said something wrong, so it’s not like you can say he can’t say them.’ YES, we can, and we should. Evil happens when good men stand by and do nothing.

  226. EugeneDebs says:

    Great post Dreams

  227. just the bleepn facts says:

Reid can say all kinds of racist BS but it is okay because the votes right,

Did you miss the part where Reid was supporting Obama’s candidacy when that “quote” was made? LOL! Yeah, that’s “really” racist! Project much you little racist brownshirt?

  228. just the bleepn facts says:

    patrick5 says:
Reid can say all kinds of racist BS but it is okay because the votes right, shouldn’t Robertson be allowed to say stupid racists things because he gives money to the poor? If not, why not?

LOL! You dare conflate those two things? Reid wasn’t trying to keep “blacks” or “Obama” down and wasn’t “insulting” Obama you clueless retard! He also made those statements in private! By contrast Robertson’s statements were public, and meant to intentionally “hurt” and “shame” and “blame” Haitians in their time of need. If you don’t have the brains, compassion or capacity to understand the difference bovine – you have no place in the “human” race!

  229. just the bleepn facts says:

    pags2 says:
I think those are quite ambiguous. There was God given law (Ten Commandments) and man made law. While Christ was aware of both, he chose ambiguity. We have to assume those statements were correctly reported by Matthew and Luke.

LOL! Give the guy a nickel! That’s the whole point of XTian teaching in general. None of the “books” of the bible are historic, they all contradict each other, and only the most consistent and pro-roman-values were selected as Catholic doctrine. At which point they were “edited” for “clarity”. When you say things like “while Christ was aware” you assume you know what happened – and you don’t. When you say “he chose ambiguity” you assume you know what happened – and you don’t. Facts are lost in the sands of time, and just like everyone who put their own spin on Obama’s “hope” and “change” you have chosen to create a god in your own image. Nothing wrong with that per-se, but be honest with yourself that what you’re doing is no different than what the wingnuts do. They just happen to project more authoritarian values onto their HeyZeus than you do…

  230. ells says:

I send all the curses in the world to Pat Robertson. That’s my pact with the devil. Robertson is a pompous ass living his comfy life and laying blame while people suffer. Get off your ass and help out Pat. Try closing your mouth while you do that. You embarrass yourself and everybody around you.

  231. CodpieceWatch says:

I would like to see some sort of movement to have Robertson’s 700 Club removed from the Directv lineup. I resent the hell out of the fact that I have no choice and HAVE to pay for his channel when he is nothing but evil.

  232. kpaul says:

What a huckster this guy is. By his own actions and words it’s quite obvious that he himself doesn’t even believe in the god he says we should all be so terrified of.

I wondered how long it would take this guy to capitalize on this tragedy, and blame it on the citizens of Haiti themselves to keep the $$$ rolling in. It’s a good thing for him there is no hell waiting, or he’d have a reserved seat.

  233. CableJoe says:

Pat Robertson will burn in Hell for all eternity for this.

  234. lapdogs says:

Does that women who is just sitting there have a brain and a heart?

Why didn’t she simply get up and walk off the set?

She made herself just as insane as Robertson by nodding her head.

  235. B York says:

Pat Robertson is what happens when you “swear a pact to the Devil.”

  236. NiteFlyr2 says:

Pat: To abide by your twisted interpretations of God and the Bible, one can only assume that you will drop dead soon yourself as punishment for invoking God’s name while speaking the words fed to you by the antichrist himself. You are the wolf the Jesus spoke of. You lead 1000’s of sheep who believe your words are of Christ. When the truth is you are a messenger of satan and an abomination among those who love our Lord. You are the reason the Book of Revelation tells us that Jesus will have a problem with over half of the churches on his planet when he returns. For these churches are in reality the den’s of Satan, deceiving millions. The quake in Haiti as well as the other large quake and natural disasters we are witnessing are the signs of the times as predicted in Matthew by Jesus. Period. You incite hate in the name of God and woe to you my friend. For you will surely have hell to pay.

  237. linzloo08 says:

Fascist isn’t quite right either; Mussolini did have at least formally correct relations with The Church, and Robertson will probably tell anyone off the record that those Papists are demonists and the Pope is in league with the devil, just like the Haitians.

Your’e right. While Mussolini was officially an athiest, he recognized the great power that the Catholic Church held over his fellow citizens, i.e. establishing a treaty with the church that basically recognized the importance of the church (if I remember my history correctly), but in exchange, the Catholic Church agreed not to criticize Mussolini or his agenda. OTOH, Hitler and the Catholic Church were pretty much like best buddies…Hitler had the support of one of Germany’s most influential bishops and he made a concious effort to make his speeches have a “Christian” or “moral” undertone, since that was what he was appealing to in the masses. This is why I start laughing my head off whenver I see teabaggers on tv with signs comparing Obama to Hitler or Democrats to the Nazis; these poor people don’t know that fascism is incredibly conservative and a better comparison would be if someone carried a sign comparing Bush to Hitler ( and Cheney as Rommell, Perino as Goebbels, etc)… At least that would be partially true..

  238. weareallGodchildren says:

Pat Robertson as a man of God you should not be speaking that kind of crap.
Yeah though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for God is with me always. God does not forsake his children. Pray for yourself then you can pray for Haiti and the world.

I will stop calling Pat a liar once he stops calling people that don’t worship Jesus his way “sinful”. It’s people like him who make me embarassed to call myself a Christian.. He says he’s doing the work of God, but he and I must have a very different god, because my god tells me to go help my less-fortunate brothers and sisters around the world, not sit in a tv studio all day milking money off of people by scaring them. If he really is a man of God, then why isn’t he down in Haiti already and helping the earthquake victims there? I think that ChurchWorldService is being more “Christian” now than Pat Robertson will ever be.

  240. linzloo08 says:

But I do agree with you, ChildrenOfGod, we shouldn’t be calling him a hypocrite, because we’re not exactly perfect ourselves. However, Pat is a huge hypocrite and definately not a “christian” at 1east not according to my own understanding of the bible. You see, I thought that the bible told us to help the unfortunate, poor, etc, not judge them and say that it’s their fasult that something bad happened to them, like Robertson seems to be doing.

  241. JoeyTranchina says:

Pat Robertson’s behavior makes a confirmed atheist long for a just god.

  243. linzloo08 says:

Not that I’m an atheist or anything ( I’m not), but I can definately see why people have problems with us Christians. We talk about being godly, but we act like we are the spawn of satan.
