Scott Brown Yawns At Plane Attack On IRS Building: ‘No One Likes Paying Taxes’

Today a man flew a plane into a Texas federal building in an apparent domestic terrorist attack. The suicide bomber, identified as Joseph Andrew Stack, was allegedly a right wing extremist who wrote on a website that violence “is the only answer” and expressed anger at the IRS, the federal government, and health care reform.

Newly-minted Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) appeared on Fox’s Neil Cavuto and showed none of the outrage and concern about terrorism that he exuded during his Senate election campaign. Asked for his reaction, Brown said he felt for the families, but quickly shrugged off the attack and transitioned to say that “people are frustrated” and “no one likes paying taxes.” Watch it:

Brown’s blasé attitude toward this terrorist attack is in stark contrast to the tone he struck during his campaign:

– “The President reacted too slow” to the failed Christmas Day plot.

– “We are at war. … We’re at war in our airports. We’re at war in our shopping malls. I have to be honest with you, folks. … I’m scared at some of the policies that I’ve heard.”

– Calling Coakley “naïve” on terrorism, Brown said she possessed a “deeply troubling lack of awareness and understanding of the threats facing our troops and on our national security.”

It is naive for Brown to think the dangers of right wing terrorism aren’t real. Last year, the Department of Homeland Security released a report warning of the dangers of rising right wing extremism, as was evidenced by the shooting at the Holocaust museum in D.C. and by a Pittsburgh killer who was partially inspired by Glenn Beck.

While conservatives are quick to make political hay out of terrorism when it suits their needs, they have been relatively silent in the wake of this attack, as well as in the wake of the news that the Obama administration struck a significant blow to the Taliban and to al Qaeda.

Transcript:

CAVUTO: We have a guy who is just ranting at the system, ranting at the IRS, ranting at big government, the need for health care, not the need for unions – I mean really crazy stuff. I would just be curious of your reaction to all that.

BROWN: Well It’ s certainly tragic and I feel for the families obviously that are being effected by it. And I don’t know if its related but I can just sense not only in my election but since being here in Washington people are frustrated. They want transparency. They want their elected officials to be accountable and open and talk about the things effecting their daily lives. So I am not sure if there is a connection, I certainly hope not, but we need to do things better.

CAVUTO: Invariably people are going to look at this type of incident Senator and say ‘well that’s were some of this populist rage gets you’ – Isn’t that a bit extreme?

BROWN: Yeah of course its extreme, you don’t know anything the individual he could have had other issues. No one likes paying taxes obviously. But the way we are trying to deal with things in the past, at least until I got here, is there is such a log jam in Washington and people want us to do better…

Holy Crap! This was an attack on a Federal Building! Is Brown insane? This was a terrorist attck! You better belive if this guy was from the Middle East, thses asses would be foaming at the mouth. And by the @1, piss off.

  2. Insidious Prophet says:

I see ‘Legion Of Dumb’, like all delusional republicans is under the false belief that all terror suspects must know about future terrorist plots. Idiot.

The republican logic tells us to believe that every poor sap who decides to become a martyr for his cause if first told every detail about future plots, training facilities, etc, etc, etc, etc,…. *YAWN*

  3. Game of Life says:

Max, it’s because he’s white male.

    sunnyboy doesn’t care about “terror.”

    Not a one.

  4. Insidious Prophet says:

    I noticed two things today:

1-The white guy isn’t being considered a terrorist and the act is being considered a crime, although his attentions in his online letter seemed pretty clear.

2-The building, which obviously wasn’t constructed like the WTC, after being struck by a small plane, apparently loaded with some type of accelerator, did not collapse and come down in it’s own footprint.

  5. SP Biloxi says:

Good. Glad that you posted about the Austin plane crash and a link of Cosmo naked Senator Brown using this tragedy to pimp his political agenda. I just posted my thought on the prior posting. I read Stack’s entire suicide note. It’s pretty tragic and copies of this man’s note should be on every politicans’ desk on Capitol Hill and the ones who have and are going to plan to retire from their jobs. Washington is very broken an has been broken for a very long time.

As long as the right side of the aisle (and the right side of the airwaves) continues to dehumanize liberals and progressives (not even just libs and progressives — just everyday run of the mill moderate Democrats) by calling them socialists and fascists and communists, etc. then these events will continue to happen with disastrous results.

Nice one, Brown. Innocent people were in that building, but what the hell, right?

  10. Bozo The Neoclown says:

    scottie brown is right
no one likes paying taxes. however, that doesn’t mean the cronies at his media outlet, pox have the right to gin up fear to the point where someone torches their home and flies their plane into a federal building.

  11. 5th Estate says:

Scott Brown: “no one likes paying taxes

…only because taxes pay for the wages and health care for useless shitheade like you, Scott.

  12. Bozo The Neoclown says:

    a question for mr. brown,
what exactly did you do to lower the tax rate in massachusetts when you were a state senator?

please provide a google friendly bill number for us scotty

  13. P.D. says:

On CNN you should have heard the reporters question the the investigator after he told them it was a ‘Criminal Act’ and not an act of ‘Domestic Terrorism’. I was amazed. They seemed to be quite shocked. The man set his house on fire while his wife and daughter were still inside, had a Manifisto AND took a plane loaded with fuel and slammed into a Federal Building. If that isn’t an act of terroism, what is?

  14. realpatriot says:

Fox reported a search of the dead pilots home revealed several copies of Browns nude centerfold pictures scattered throughout the house.

This proves that the Repubs use terrorism as a political tool. They really don’t give a rat’s dupa about terrorism, especially if it is homegrown terrorism. It only becomes an issue when it is done by people of color from other nations.

  16. Insidious Prophet says:

Breaking News: Dick Cheney, George W. Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, Condi Rice, John McCain and fat Karl Rove have all stated that there is a link between Joseph Stack and Iran.

Meaning, all republicans, run quickly! Hide underneath your mothers beds! Lie in a puddle of your own urine, in the fetal position, quivering in fear like a coward! BOO-HOO-HAW-!

It’s beginning to look like the Obama administration has captured more al Qaeda members in one year than Bush did in 7 years.

  18. tarazan says:

I am really surprised that the media does not call this terrorism, and officials treat this as a crime as we were told.
I heared the local news tonight and the news anchor woman was saying that it is not yet called terrorism by officials.
Had the pilot being an Arab or Moslem, it will be called terrorism in a second.
Do we need officials to tell us whether it was terrorism or not?.
Anytime someone act like that by destroying property public or private and killing innocent people it is terrorism in anyway you look at it.
There is nothing Senator Brown can tell us that justifies such act…tax or no tax.
He should be ashamed of himself giving any hint of justification to such act.

  19. Fritz says:

So what do the teabaggers have to say about one of their own flying into that building?

More proof that teabaggers are terrorists.

  27. Hoodathunk(sponsored by Take Back Our Blog, Inc.)) says:

Going out on a limb here but this isn’t an act of terrorism. It is an act of frustration. Maybe the reasons behind it are delusional and self centered but it is an expression of frustration. Many things in this country suk right now and have for years. But what we have are major media sources touting that the only answer is revolt, guns, violence. If you aren’t happy your only course of action is strike out, attack, kill.

    Welcome to the new America.

  28. Game of Life says:

I believe he wanted to get one specific IRS agent. This was his way of by-passing security.

  157. Bluestocking says:

Let’s face it…as far as the Republicans and their enablers in the mainstream media are concerned, “domestic terrorism” is for the most part an oxymoron. For years now, the Southern Poverty Law Center has observed a definite reluctance on the part of both the media and the government to view politically-motivated mass murder or potential mass murder as “domestic terrorism” if the politics in question are right-wing. As an example, how else do you explain the fact that the story of William Krar by and large went completely unreported in the national media?

For those of you who may not be familiar with this story, William Krar is a white supremacist currently serving a prison sentence after pleading guilty and being convicted in 2004 for possessing a weapon of mass destruction. Krar first came to the attention of federal authorities as far back as 1995, but at the time of his arrest in 2003 resulting from a package which he mailed to the wrong address (a package containing a number of false IDs), Krar was found to be in possession of the following:

    * illegal weapons, including machine guns and silencers
    * over 60 pipe bombs
    * several remote-controlled bombs disguised as briefcases or suitcases
    * half a million rounds of ammunition
    * a nearly-completed sodium-cyanide gas bomb which would have been capable of killing at least a thousand people.
    * stockpiles of chemicals for making additional bombs
    * white supremacist and anti-government literature as well as information on how to manufacture explosives.
    * notes suggesting that Krar was part of a plot which would involve using the cyanide gas bomb once it was completed.

If Krar had been a Muslim, the news media would have been all over the story like white on rice. So why was this story almost completely overlooked in the national media at the time, despite the fact that there was evidence to suggest he was planning to carry out a terrorist act?

    Briseadh na Faire says:

    ——————————————————————————–

Terrorism is the use of force or violence against persons or property in violation of the criminal laws of the United States for purposes of intimidation, coercion, or ransom.

The above definition is from FEMA.

A tea party gathering in Washington state “turned more than a bit ugly on Saturday when a featured speaker actually called for the hanging of Sen. Patty Murray.” HuffPost’s Sam Stein writes, “That a sanctioned speaker called for a hanging of an elected official…seriously pushes the boundaries of First Amendment freedom.”

No. It does not push the boundaries of First Amendment Freedom. It constitutes a terroristic threat. It advocates violence for the purpose of intimidation or coercion. It is only a matter of time before the killings begin.

In reading Stack’s words (at Smoking Gun) he doesn’t appear to be a Teabagger in that he doesn’t mention god or guns or the deficit or use a racist code or “tyranny” or “death panels” or anything about birth certificates or socialism or the benefits of torture.

He does mention the GM bailout, but not TARP,

What he does seem to reveal is that he spent his professional life as an independent businessman trying to minimize his income tax burden like the ‘big-boys’ do; and then he complains about the CPA services he used that didn’t hide his real income properly and that got him fined by the IRS. And apparently he got busted again.

His biggest complaint seems to be not that the government shouldn’t allow large corporations to avoid paying their fair share of taxes so that his tax-burden would be lessened, but that HE should be allowed to pay as few taxes as they do, and that attitude is teabagger territory, but it doesn’t make him an actual member of a confused hyperbolic violence worshiping Right-wing movement.

I read poor Mr. Stack’s manifesto and couldn’t really tell what his ideaology was. I hope if I ever go crazy I will leave a more coherent manifesto. There were some aspects that reminded me of the tea party stuff in that he had an issue with taxes, some that seemed like Tim Mcveigh in that big brother was taking his freedom, and some that reminded me of the 1990’s militia/freemen tax protester train of thought in which he had read the tax code and came up with a bizarre interpretation of it. The rest seemed to be his own individual brand of crazy guy. I wouldn’t catagorize Mr. Stack as right-wing or left-wing, he seemed to have that same wandering in the weeds craziness that Glenn Beck has (or pretends to have for cash). Just my humble opinion.

But I don’t live there, so the system has its flaws—but at least i am a lord.

I’m sorry, I forgot to add that Scott Brown is an idiot. Many people are frustrated with their health insurers, and no one likes paying premiums, but bombing Anthem is not a something we would consider a viable option, or just shrug off if some deranged individual actually accomplished.

  210. evangenital says:

I know some guys like Stack who are angry all the time, and who are always advocating bombing some country into oblivion, or bypassing the courts and taking the law into their own hands while heavily armed.

Everything is a plot against them, and they are always in their heads the target of some horrific government probe.

To a person, they have cost their families so much money for bailouts, mortgage help and failed business decisions.

    backup says:

The rantings of a crazy guy that flies a plane into a building shouldn’t be used to steer public debate.

Absolutely! Same with somebody who sends other people to fly planes into buildings, or hide bombs on themselves then board international flights, or… you get the picture.

Wingnuts are cowards. They like to go on TV and do Al Qaeda’s P.R. job for them by pretending failed attacks are successful attacks, and successful attacks require us to freak out and stop being America. The way you respond to terrorism is by being more resolute in your principles, not less.

    .

    Legion of Honor says:

I’m telling you, Brown is a placeholder senator if there ever was one.

Massachusetts is stuck with him for a while but not the full 6 years. Brown just needs time to spout stupid things that will embarrass the state. In time, the voters will regret electing him and wish they had a do over or a recall.

  217. just the bleepn facts says:

  218. evangenital says:

The CPAC crowd has a jobs program for teabaggers.

It consists of hiring the men to clean their gutters and do their yard work, and the women to do housekeeping.

In line with conservative principles, CPAC types will offer to pay under the minimum wage in cash, if they have the cash on hand.

If not, those teabaggers will have to take plastic, or a raincheck.

“Can I put this on my Visa?”

  219. 5th Estate says:

Rab says: 5th Estate ……. you don’t need to declare yourself a lord, you already are an Estatesman! LOL

    That’s comedy gold, Jerry! :D

P.S. I didn’t declare myseelf a Lord of Sealand, I was invested as such by the Crown Prince himself, for services to the micro-nation (such-as and exclusively for handing over $50 to become a Lord. I think the money went towards a new microwave).

  220. P.D. says:

The Dems need CPAC and the teabaggers because both are toxic with independent voters. The teabaggers are irrational in their beliefs which scares independents. Dems need to make sure the voters associate Republicans with teabaggers.

Hey wingnuts, this would be a great time for that Jefferson “tree of liberty watered with blood” quote y’all like repeating so much, wouldn’t it? C’mon, let’s hear some of that “kill the government” rhetoric you’re usually so fond of.

    .

    Insidious Prophet says:

So to Hannity, terrorism should only be taken serious when the terrorist has brown skin.

Correct. The only consistent interpretation of wingnuts’ responses to things is that it’s not terrorism they’re afraid of, it’s brown people.

  223. evangenital says:

The slimy closet-case repiggie group known as GOProud is allowed to speak at this group, but is not allowed to discuss any gay issues.

  227. evangenital says:

I have recently read that suburban homelessness is on the rise.

Apart from dumping the homeless in the central cities, the CPAC crowd has no interest in this issue.

Jesus rewards the virtuous by making them wealthy and powerful, so these poor suburban sinners are to be dispatched forthwith to freeze in the center city, the better to contemplate their innate sinfulness.

They will get warm enough when they go to Hell after death, for the Kingdom of Heaven is only for those blessed by Jesus here on earth.

  228. P.D. says:

As an agency IT contractor in the late 90’s I never knew where my next paycheck was coming from most of the time and stupidly didn’t file for a couple of years as I needed all the money I could get just to survive. The IRS busted me for a few grand, but fortunately I’d finally gotten a decent paying 12 month contract (though with the option to be fired at any time with no severance) so although the IRS was willing to be reasonable about a payment plan, I let them take the maximum (leaving me with $130 a week) to get my debt paid-off ASAP.

And as soon as that was done my contract was over and I was back to zero— so what I did next was I DIDN’T jump into my private plane and crash it into an IRS building.

My “logic wanes”? I posed a question, not a conclusion, which anyone even barely capable OF logic would easily be able to see. And yet, somehow, this obvious and irrefutible fact altogether escapes you.

Is this because you are to flat-out butt-stupid to understand even the most elementary forms of logic, because you are just to viciously dishonest to answer the question that was asked, or some combination of both. Because as logic goes — a topic about which I have forgotten galaxies more than you’ve ever bent your greasy heinie over in presentation to — these options completely define the available possibilities.

When I got busted for it I “manned-up”–and the price was greater than if I had manned-up in the first place—as a result I was earning half the minimum wage of 1982, in 1998, and just slogged through it.

What I didn’t do, was attack anyone else for my problems because I guess, having a liberal inclusive mind-set instead of a selfish, exceptionalist mind-set I had to deal with the world as it is for the majority, not as I wanted it to be just for my own direct needs, so I couldn’t submit to the desire to look beyond my own responsibility for ,y situation and find a scapegoat to destroy for my woes.

No, it doesn’t change the historical facts at all. The progressive movement hs nothing whatsoever to do with the housing/mortgage crisis. We’ve discussed this before, and (like your Kristol-ball predication that Israel invading Iran is inevitable) you have provided no evidence of that connection. What you have provided shows only that 1) the CRA stopped redlining, and 2) later provisions ensured adherence to the CRA. What you have not demonstrated is why the mortgage industry requires institutional racism to remain stable.

But the simple fact of the matter is that history assigns credit or blame to the sitting President when historical events occur. You may note that I don’t go around spamming “Bush did it” without first being provoked by you blaming these events on Obama, even though he was not President in 2008.

If Clinton was a “liberal,” then Eisenhouer (sp? sorry, i could look it up but I am tired beyond exhausted) was a communist.

A person gifted with nothing more extravagent than the abstract possibility of integrity would have noted that Summers, Geitner, and that whole crew came into government PUSHING the pre-established agenda of the banking/finance industry.

But, of course, you refruse as a matter of principle to permit little things like fact to interfere with your childish stories, since they don’t support your mindless ideology. Summers, Geitner and crew brought in a REPUBLICAN dream — because the only thing it served to do was make obscenely rich people even more obscenely rich than they already were.

People who are not viciously stupid lying hypocrites easily recognize this fact. You, of course, remain utterly mystified by it. We’re just shocked to learn this ….

Your one-liner misses the point altogether, (no real surprise to me), and Dem mayors do not generally know how to extend and garner private contributions.

The funniest part of this is that you honestly think this is intelligent discourse. You list cities that have had Democratic mayors going back to the 1940s and earlier, one to 1907(?). Are you going to sit there and claim that all those cities have had high poverty rates all this time? Cities like Detroit? Helllllo? Automobiles? This is truly one of the stupidest claims I’ve seen here in quite awhile.

Yes. Provide them or quit wasting my time.

You make noises like somebody having a debate, but you’re not actually debating. You’re like a monkey or a parrot who’s seen a lot of rational debates and is aping the behavior it’s seen, but isn’t actually equipped to do rational debate itself.

    The process goes like this:

    1. Present premises to your argument, with links to authoratitive citations for each. Do this at first, instead of just posting the claims and then making us point out that you didn’t bring the citations before you finally begrudgingly go drag them up. Also, just telling us to “go research it” is lazy and amounts to forfeiting.

    2. Logically connect the premises to produce a conclusion. Note: just saying “connect the dots!” does not constitute a mode of deductive logic.

    3. Top your conclusion off with a snappy insult (this is TP, after all).

And voila! You’re debating. But of course, if you had the intelligence to pull that off, you wouldn’t be a wingnut to begin with.

I see no reason to take maniacal rationalizations for an attempt at mass murder at face value or to compare this man’s motivations to the frustrations of normal people as Brown does here. I think it’s dangerous to play into such a pathology.

Calling him a terrorist might be giving him more credit than he deserves, but he did use a political justification for his act, and chose a political target.

It would be best if our leaders did what they could to take the romance out of this act for other murderous trolls who use political arguments to justify their anti-social attitudes and behavior. Did I see a post about who caused the subprime crash? That’s interesting because I saw economist Dean Baker and wannabee right wing economist and author Amity Shlaes discuss the financial crash and subprime meltdown. Anyway here is just a little snippet of the discussion.

CSPAN Host: Amity so what led to the subprime meltdown?

    Amity Shlaes: Freddie & Fannie…

CSPAN Host: Dean, what are your thoughts on this?

Dean Baker: Well if you look at the data and the numbers you can see the biggest players who led to the subprime meltdown and the housing bubble were Goldman Sachs, Citi-Group and Merrill Lynch among others.

CSPAN Host: Amity do you agree?

    Amity Shlaes: Fannie & Freddie…

CSPAN Host: Dean, Amity seems to believe this subprime meltdown was all Freddie & Fannies fault, what do you have to say about that?

Dean Baker: I agree that Freddie & Fannie
are partially to blame, but they came late to the game. Most of the bad and risky mortgages came from Goldman Sachs and Citi-Group.

CSPAN Host: Okay lets talk a call from one of our viewers, Ted from Baltimore you are on the air, what is your question?

Ted from Baltimore: You know Ms Shlaes you keep on blaming Fannie & Freddie and are reluctant to point blame elsewhere, but here’s my question. You are an economist who writes a weeky article for the Wall Street Journal, you had to know what was going on back in 2004, 2005 and 2006, Dean wrote about a coming housing bubble, why didn’t you write about it?

Amity Shlaes: (Lips quivering & voice cracking) I was busy researching and writing my latest book. I believe I wrote about some things…Fannie & Freddie….I guess no one really knew the extent of the meltdown…did I say Fannie & Freddie….

Mind you this was at 5:15 am yesterday morning and I had to turn the TV off, fight the urge to blow my brains out, started the morning off with a shot of Jagermeister, yelled at my republican neighbors and preceded to do some work on the computer.

The guy Brown is defending (Joseph Stack) is clearly a Tea Bagger as his Facebook account shows. Since Stack has ranted against the IRS for some 30 years one has to wonder about the timing of this monsterous act. What degree has the rants of the likes of Beck and Limbaugh affected his thinking and helped trigger this act.

Wooooohhh, hold on there little doggie, don’t blow your load. Lets get things straight before you toot the right wing horn and end up busting a nut…I assume you have nuts, right?

Fact #1 – New Jersey: The republican victory for the governorship had less to do about republicans or teabaggers and more to do with Governor Corzines link to Goldman Sachs, his wealth, the corruption in New Jersey politics and the high taxes.

Fact #2 – Virginia: Virginia has historically been a red state so why the media and the right made a big deal out of this is unknown. It would have been bigger news had the republican candidate lost after all the teabag and health care scare momentum over the summer.

Fact #3 – Massachusetts: This definitely was a tough lose to the democratic party, considering it was a strong blue state and the seat was held for so long by the Lion of the Senate, the late Ted Kennedy. The reality is that the republicans are overplaying this victory. The win had more to do because of a weak democratic candidate who ran a lousy campaign and the FACT that Scott Brown a republican, ran his campaign as an independent as much as possible. Any other democratic candidate, such as congressman Ed Markey would have beaten Scott Brown.

Fact #4 – NY23 - A congressional seat held by the republicans since the Civil War was won by democrat Bill Owen even after people like Sarah Palin, Rudy Ghouliani and Newt Gingrich campaigned for conservative party candidate Doug Hoffman (R), Hoffman was hand picked by the teabagger faction of the republican party, the loss was a stunning blow to the republicans and a blow to the teabagger movement.

I brought up the domestic terrorist attack in Austin, we both agreed it was horrible, than she added that people all over America are committing suicide because they can’t find any jobs….Funny I haven’t heard of a bunch of jobless Americans committing a suicide, must be a right wing based story.

Now here is the kicker. Since the start of the Iraq war I’ve battled with her and one of my other republican sisters about how wrong the war was for obvious reasons, the key one being that Iraq had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11, but she was a staunch supporter of the Iraq war for the five years under the Bush regime.

But today, she said “we should remove all of our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan immediately. Now, I told her, I agree but that I couldn’t understand her change of heart since she was all for the wars under Bush. Of course she told me to stop bringing up the past (truth hurts). So anyway I let her go after changing the subject but wanted so badly to tell her that it seems like she has changed her mind about the wars solely because a democrat is now in the White House…

I bet because it was a blatant attack on our government AND because it could be tied to the hate, fear and anger pushed by Fox, this story will be out of the news cycle by Monday and we will only get periodic reports on the investigation in the future. I hope TP post this article for Friday. Lady Blah Blah should get a foot-in-the mouth award for her ridiculous attack on the TV show Family Guy. Well, the drama queen is getting a dose of her own medicine. And she needs to learn from Ms. Friedman:

    From Huffington Post:

Andrea Fay Friedman, the voice actress who played the role of “Ellen” –the character depicted as having Down syndrome on the Valentine’s Day episode of Family Guy, has responded to the criticism of sometime-Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Of special significance, Friedman herself has Down syndrome.

My name is Andrea Fay Friedman. I was born with Down syndrome. I played the role of Ellen on the “Extra Large Medium” episode of Family Guy that was broadcast on Valentine’s day. Although they gave me red hair on the show, I am really a blonde. I also wore a red wig for my role in ” Smudge” but I was a blonde in “Life Goes On”. I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor. I thought the line “I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska” was very funny. I think the word is “sarcasm”.

In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life. My mother did not carry me around under her arm like a loaf of French bread the way former Governor Palin carries her son Trig around looking for sympathy and votes.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/18/family-guy-actress-respon_n_468331.html

  438. Virtual Pebble (A Proud Supporter of Nuclear Options) says:

@ 464. Darth, you’re a fracking idiot. You can google “tombstone agency”; it’s not exactly a common term, but it’s been around for a while. Any agency that waits for people to die before it does something that looks like a correction or process improvement is a tombstone agency. So the FAA is one; so is the National Transportation Safety Board. To one extent or another, a lot of government agencies that have some remedial, ameliorative, or rule-making power that have life and death effects, and which operate in reactive mode, are tombstone agencies. And it’s not just the Federales; states and smaller jurisdictions can get into the act, too.

Darth’s goofiness aside, I find Senator Brown’s comment interesting; how nonchalant, how blase’, how fracking stupid is this guy? Of course some people are irritated, pissed by their tax burden, such as it may be. And just how many of them decide to go out on a literal kamikaze run and ram a federal office building with an airplane?

I suppose Stack got his 15 minutes of fame, but he probably wasn’t in a position to notice, was he? And just what the frack was all that whining, pissing, and moaning about failure; fracking bankrupt boomer narcissist – it’s all about him, with nary a thought about what he’s just done to his wife and kid and a bunch of other people.

  443. goldwriting says:

What Scott Brown and the Republican/Conservative movement doesn’t want to admit is his election, while being a lightning rod for the right, has also awoken the left to how badly they were handling things. They seem to lack the foresight in how big the left can really get when the hypocrisy and tactics of the right are put under the spotlight.

Plus, Scott Brown is quickly becoming the number two quote-worthy flub creator, just under Michael Steele. Fantastic.

  444. bob h says:

Massachusetts should really be ashamed of itself. I cannot believe they will return this clown to the Senate in 2012.

I hope they have Stingers on the roof of the WH- in fact, I think some right wing kamikaze attacked it during the Clinton years.

  445. Pennsylvanianne says:

This video of bland Brown could certainly be used by the Democratic opposition in the upcoming election. Brown will have to run again in 2012 and the video is notable for his lack of outrage about homegrown terrorism. It would be amusing in its hypocrisy if it wasn’t so tragic.

Republicans don’t like taxes, but they like to wage wars.
They never see or heard of a weapon that they don’t like, and as everybody knows that todays weapons are not cheap..after you pay for the weapons and systems, the contractors, the consultants, the big bill will be in the billions of dollars.
Republicans love military spending, yet, they don’t like paying taxes.
The biggest piece of US budget pie goes to military, and the highest percentage of increase among all others is military spending in the last few years.
Everytime we have a natural disaster whether it is Hurricane, tornado, flooding..or whatever, Republicans and other people will always ask: “where is the government”?
That’s why we pay taxes, it goes for roads, education, defense, war veterans health, postal service and many other expenses spent daily by the government and all states, and yes also for emergencies.
One cannot escape but seeing all Republican leaders like Sarah Palin, Dick Cheney, and others lately are calling for a war against Iran. Ironically, it is by the same people who are calling for tax cuts.
Any wonder why Bush administration wrecked the boat by escalating military spending and gave big tax breaks?
Any wonder why we do not have balanced budget and huge deficit today?
Americans are not the only people who pay taxes.
Nationals of all countries pay taxes…It is part of living in a civilised society, and there is no escape, and there will never be as long as people demand basic services ,protection by police and defence from abroad by all military units, and many other services.

As opposed to a guy who tries to blow up his underpants using his dick as a fuse? That didn’t stop you idiots from blaming President Obama…

And no one is blaming former president bush, we are blaming fox and the rest of the right wing hate machine because stack is the first McVie of this decade. Let’s hope he’s the last.

You know that at some point the Teabaggers’ zealotry will drive them to overreach in some senseless, violent way that will open peoples’ eyes to their true character, in the same way the Republicans lost steam after Oklahoma City, the militia nuttiness, and shutting down the government in 1995.

Condoning kamikaze attacks on the IRS and advocating the lynching of Senator Murray are pushing things up to the line.
It is just a question of when and how they go over it.

First off to any moron here who had the audacity to call him a tea bagger, should be ashamed of himself. He had no affiliation whatsoever with that movement, but I guess no one here reads unbiased news sources (aka real news that favors neither the GOP or the Dems).

The actions of an angry man who was mentally disturbed and resorted to violence and suicide, which was triggered by unfair taxation and the thievery of the Washington bailouts, (both flavors the Bushite and Obamaite varieties), should not be used for political gain by either side. This man was not a terrorist. But the government all wants us to refer to him as a “terrorist”. What little shred of freedom, privacy and human rights we have left is being stripped away from us. The best the people here can do is curse, use derogatory language and show their ignorance. This blog is an excellent case study on how easily the minds of US citizens are manipulated.

Wake up people. This is the time to unite and vote for people who are not Neocons or Neolibs. Good men and women, good candidates in general, will NEVER and I repeat NEVER be given a favorable review in the mainstream media.

Each one of you here should remember that the hatred and prejudice which spews from your mouths, minds and keyboards is exactly what the GOP wants. They want you to hate them and their constituents. Just as the GOP and Dems want the GOPers to hate the Democratic Party members.

They are purposely divisive. They are playing us like a fine tuned instrument, instructing us who to hate and teaching us blind allegiance and extremism. All to create the illusion that the GOP and the Dems are different. To create the illusion that we still have a Constitutional Republic.

Problem here TL, as the Tea Bag Movement has no official membership application or secret handshake, it is impossible for you to say he isn’t a member. So your statement appears intentionally in the disingenious / fake naive range.

This goes for this guy all the way to politicians that you like or don’t like. For that matter, asenator who is an avowed member of the communist party has just as much right to say they are a tea bagger as you.

The items in his apparent suicide note (on his web page) certainly shares many themes with the movement. His actions are certainly be in line with the tea bag protest which called for hanging an elected representative. His actions certainly seem in line with the hate radio that has supported the tea baggers.

  467. Virtual Pebble (A Proud Supporter of Nuclear Options) says:

    @ 510. True Liberty …

Unfair taxation? If you take the trouble to read Stack’s “Manifesto” and do a little backround research, you’ll undertand what Stack’s tax problem was. It isn’t an insurmountable problem; he’s not the first engineer to get crossways with the IRS on the conflation of “independent contractor”, undocumented income, and unreported income. He’s not the first engineer to go all entrepenuerial, set up his own shop, and then fail to do due diligence with respect to the tax code.

I would conjecture that the IRS had reached the end of it’s appeals process with Mr. Stark. There was no way to go, except to court, and the IRS may have notified Stark that they were going to sieze his assets. He preempted them by burning one major asset, his house, down, and flying the other one in through a window. Stark may have been in that position, with respect to siezure, in California and managed to delay things by moving to Texas, thinking that since Texas is a ‘homestead’ state, his house couldn’t be siezed, only to find out that Federal law preempts state law in this sort of case.

  468. wildweasel says:

Your morons are so predictable, I knew you would try to relate Joe Stack to tea party or the right. Did you not read his suicide diatribe. He hated Bush, he blamed the government for his failings. He blasted the government the rich along with the IRS. He sounded a lot more like you guys than he does people in the tea party movement. He was not good at business, and failed to pay his taxes and blamed everyone in the world but himself ( again sounds like a leftist). He just didn’t like anyone. What do you all think about the professor in Alabama who was a radical liberal who went on a killing spree? They both are just nuts, and to compare them to terriorist is simplistic and dumb.

He hated big business, big insurance, Bush, Reagan tax cuts, etc…He sounded more like a Dummycrat on the capaign trail than a right winger. He had tax problems and blamed the IRS as being under control of big business, again sounds more like a leftest. Then he closes out his diatribe with the communist creed, while attributing a dergoatory creed to capitalism. Maybe if you could think for yourself, and pull your head you could see the light.

Hardly they same thing, People going off and proclaiming Stack’s ties to the right without even reading his post. I don’t really think Bush was causeing people to see the left as potential terrorist, I don’t think most on the right see liberals as terrorist, just that liberals have been weak on terrorism. Don’t tell me 0bama does not monitor who is at his events to keep hecklers and boos to a minimum and create a sense that he is loved by everyone, they all do that. Those in the media who are trying to make a connection for Stacks actions and those in the Tea Party movement is pure propaganda aimed at those who do not seek out the truth themselves. Those in here who were making such comments were exposing themselves as being uninformed and only spewing what they are spoon fed by the leftist media and blogs.

  481. MapleStreet says:

    Randy,

Please see my post at 518 – you seem to be saying I haven’t done what I have already said that I’ve done.

YOur statement on liberal terrorists doesn’t match the accusations against Obama re: terrorissm during the election.

Listening to Rush does not equate with “seeking out the truth themselves” You see, I had a discussion earlier today with a Ditto head quoting Rush to me on this matter. So I recognize your take on the matter.

Also, please familiarize yourself with the usual meaning of the pot and kettle. You appear to have missed it.

  482. Virtual Pebble (A Proud Supporter of Nuclear Options) says:

    Randy, Mgparrish,

I think there’s a very simple reason why people here think Stack might have been a tea-partier. It’s because of the anti-tax, anti-government rant. I don’t assume Stack was a tea-partier; we’ve had President Obama in office for over a year now, but Stack ranted specifically about President Bush. that indicates to me that he wasn’t particularly active in politics and didn’t pay too much attention to that realm.

The rest of his political rant was pretty general and he seemed to regard politicians as corrupt. That’s an indication of naivete; people are corrupt, it’s not exclusive to politicians. Sure, put an otherwise honest pol in a room with a businessman or lobbyist and there’ll be instant cronyism; that’s not exclusive to either side of the aisle, and it’s also something that needs to be cleaned up on both sides, and it’s something that can be changed, improved, remediated, and cleaned up. That clean up has been part of the national progressive agenda since Teddy Roosevelt, but that’s a digression. Since Stack was pissed at corruption, perhaps he’d have become a progressive if he hadn’t decided to do a kamikaze.

  483. The Shadow says:

This fool was just following orders from Rush Limpbaugh, Glen Beck, Fox News, Sara Palin, and the Tea Party. What message do they send?
