Tea Party sign threatens gun violence if health care passes.

Tea Party activists have gathered on Capitol Hill today for a “Code Red” rally against health care reform. Speakers at the event included Republican Reps. Steve King (IA), Michele Bachmann (MN), and Mike Pence (IN). The gathering was organized by Tea Party Profiteer organizations like FreedomWorks and Americans for Prosperity. ThinkProgress attended today’s rally and spotted a sign threatening violence if health care passes. The sign reads: “Warning: If Brown can’t stop it, a Browning can,” referring to Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) and a Browning firearm:

    I really hope after this legislation passes, we can revisit the public option…Grayson idea of buying into Medicare would be OK with me. I’m spending $1000/mo+ for private health ins…I’d gladly pay that to the USG, knowing that my coverage won’t become a negotiation with an acct rep who is financially incentivized to decline/delay my healthcare related expenses.

    And yesterday he warned that all the banks would close if the government “takes over” student loans.

    It’s all the republicans have left — generating fear and loathing. And it ties in directly with the sign in this article as well as the primary motives of the uneducated, ill-informed, angry teabaggers.

    I genuinely fear that there will be uprisings and violence following the passage of the HCR bill tomorrow. The situation is very volatile and Beck, Hannity or Limbaugh could very well light the match in the coming days.

    And, if we do get an option to buy into Medicare….I will enjoy watching these teabaggers stand by their convictions to support private insurance, as slowly go broke as their premiums escalate to cover those of us who choose to buy into socialized medicine.     You can’t arrest people for hate speech and most of these threatening signs and statements are protected under the 1st Amendment. I have no doubt that the FBI is keeping tabs on these groups as well as all the other right wing extremists. They have successfully brought terrorists to justice so it is safe to assume that they are taking all threats serious. I would venture that the FBI is on a heightened alert for this coming week. That doesn’t mean they can stop all potential threats. A lone wolf like Lee Harvey Oswald poses a much larger threat than groups.

    The damage was discovered about 12:30 a.m., city police said.

    Yup. The Democratic Party (technically the Democratic-Republican party before both sides split) was founded by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison around 1792.

    And the Socialist Party had endorsed a compulsory system as early as 1904, and in 1912 Theodore Roosevelt’s Progressive Party included health care reform in its campaign platform. But we know historical facts don’t mean much to the R’s anymore.

    The GOP is a hollow shell of it’s former self. They don’t even follow their original motto anymore: “that in view of the necessity of battling for the first principles of Republican government, and against the schemes of an aristocracy, the most revolting and oppressive with which the earth was ever cursed or man debased, we will cooperate and be known as ‘Republicans’ until the contest be terminated.” And their followers are a bunch of religious gun toting nuts.

    A lower federal court will rule on the 10th Amendment challenge which implicitly affirms that federal law takes precedence over any state law. The district court can rule and then the Appellate Court will rule. The SCOTUS has discretionary power to take a case so a denial of certiorari is an implicit affirmation of the lower court rulings.

    your Red states are hardly even populated! They don’t even have an economy to speak of.. about the only heavily populated ‘red’ state is Texas.. and it’s not that Red.. they all are slowly turning blue as the population increases.

    California, Texas, New York, Florida, and Illinois are the most populated states – of those only Texas is ‘red’. Florida is usually considered purple – mainly due to it’s elderly population I’d assume.

    The largest populations have real economies.. they have real boom and bust cycles.. in contrast to little piss ant states that don’t even have an infrastructure, they have the worst education system (wanna talk about Mississippi? That’s about as red as you get on the map I’ve lived there and seen it myself). So.. letsee – if you have no infrastructure – you have terrible education – you have the least broadband penetration – and the lowest population… guess what? You don’t have to spend much and you are less effected by boom and bust in the economy.

    I could go on further.. the point is simply, equating deficits with political affiliation is ridiculous.. the deficits are related to the size of population/infrastructure and the active nature of their larger economies. The smallest populations are less effected by macro economical effects.. they’re somewhat insulated from these recessions.

    This tends to be true… the budget wasn’t completely balanced, as claimed, by Clinton, but it did come the closest it had been in YEARS… actually, since before Reagan was elected. And the deficits Reagan ran were FAAAAAAR larger, on a % basis of the total Fed budget, than George’s… We’ve had Republican Presidents for 16 of the last 22 years. Republicans also controlled Congress from 1994 to 2000 and the House until 2006 – 14 years. Republicans basically controlled the country from 2001 to 2008.

    Is the children learning yet?

    Apparently not…

Republicans also controlled Congress from 1994 to 2000 and the House until 2006 – 14 years. Republicans basically controlled the country from 2001 to 2008.

    You should. I’ve been planning a blog post about Alinsky but am still working on the research. In the meantime, the Wikipedia article covers the ground nicely. He was the archetypal community organizers, starting in the 30s in Chicago’s slums.

    He was definitely Left, but neither a Socialist or a Communist, although modern wingnuts accuse him of both — of course, modern wingnuts accuse pretty much everyone of being a Communist. You can be confident that none of them ever read a word he wrote, or knows anything about his life and work — they’re just parroting what other wingnuts have said.     Let me give you an example of why Health Reform is STRONGLY needed NOW. 6-13-2004 I had a traumatic brain injury accident 150 miles from home. I fell off my horse and hit my head on a large rock and almost killed myself at that moment. I was flown to the nearest hospital 50 miles away and had emergancy brain surgery. I had 1/4 of the front left lobe removed and 1/4 of the left rear hemisphere removed. I was in a coma for 3 weeks after the surgery. While I was in surgery, My husband called the insurance company I had been with 24 years the date of my accident. The day I work up from my coma, my husband received a letter from this company stating they had not been notified on time and I was out of network and being flown to the hospital I was in, was not medically necessary. Stating my husband should have just driven me 150 miles back to the network of hospitals they had. They also have stated in their policy, If in an accident traumaticly hurt and/or unconscience the nearest hospital will be covered. The only other 2 major procedures they ever paid for, for me, was the birth of our child in 1985 and my hystorectomy in 2000. My husband fought the insurance lies and denials for months. It was a veto proof bill in the Republican controlled Congress of that day. Senator Gramm, a Republican Texas Senator, stated at the sigining of this bill, and I quote, ” I am proud to be here because this is an improtant bill; it is a deregualtions bill. I believe that this is the wave of the future.”
    All Gramm-Leach-Bliley were wanting to “wave the future” with has been greed and profit for profit only. With all regulations being thrown in the trash, no insurance corporations has to do anyting correctly in the least. They want customers for money and money only. It is now time for that to be stopped.

By the way, the Income Tax Ammendment was never properly ratified under national law so our government has technically been stealing from us our entire lives. And you want to give them power to steal more.

    That’s why we have the Declaration of Independence. It is what we will stand on when our government comes knocking on our doors to place collars on our necks and shackles and our feet.
