Hagel: Iraq Is ‘A Hopeless, Winless Situation’

Appearing today on CBS Face the Nation, Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) described Iraq as “a hopeless, winless situation.” He harshly criticized the Bush administration’s recent decision to increase troop levels calling it “very wrong” and “irresponsible.”

Hagel said Iraq was “headed” toward a civil war. He was adamant that “we cannot put American troops, and ask them to do the things that we’re asking them to do in the middle of a civil war.” Hagel added, “I hope this administration has got a way out of this.” Watch it:

Gingrich: There Is An ‘Insurgency’ in CT Which Says ‘Can’t We Come Home And Hide?’

This morning on Fox News, Newt Gingrich claimed there is a “legitimate insurgency in Connecticut, which needs to be met head on,” made up of people who say Iraq “is so hard, it is so frightening, it’s so painful, can’t we come home and hide?” Gingrich said that if the “insurgency” wins, “it will be the beginning of extraordinarily important period in American politics, and in American history.” Watch it:
