Forbes recently published an article by Executive Editor Michael Noer that stated men shouldn’t marry women with careers because such women “are more likely to get divorced, more likely to cheat, less likely to have children, and, if they do have kids, they are more likely to be unhappy about it.”
Today on Fox News, host Michael Jerrick brought up the story, but instead of criticizing Noer, blamed women. Jerrick stated that the problem “starts with women” and men just “want to keep you happy.” When co-host Juliet Huddy called Jerrick’s statements “ridiculous,” he replied, “Oh, she’s mad.” Watch it:

Nearly a year after Hurricane Katrina, a new report from demographer Greg Rigamer finds that “average rents have risen about 40 percent, and the average selling price of homes in areas not affected by flooding rose about 25 percent.”
Last night on Hannity and Colmes, guest host Kirsten Powers confronted Ann Coulter about President Bush’s failure to capture Osama Bin Laden and the rapidly deteriorating situation in Afghanistan.
Coulter responded, “As for catching Osama, it’s irrelevant. Things are going swimmingly in Afghanistan.” Powers blasted Coulter for her answer. Coulter then abruptly decided to end her participation in the middle of the segment, saying, “OK, well, good night! It was nice being here.” Watch it:
For Ms. Coulter’s benefit, here’s an update on the situation in the last couple of months in Afghanistan:
– Security situation is “close to anarchy.” Last month, a senior British military commander said “the situation is close to anarchy” in Afghanistan, and warned western forces were “running out of time” to meet expectations Afghanis have for their security.
– Discontent among Afghans is “boiling.” “After months of widespread frustration with corruption, the economy and a lack of justice and security,” the New York Times reported that “doubts about President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan, and by extension the American-led effort to rebuild that nation, have led to a crisis of confidence.”
– Opium production is at record levels. “Opium cultivation in Afghanistan has hit record levels – up by more than 40 percent from 2005 – despite hundreds of millions in counternarcotics money,” the Associated Press reported. “The increase could have serious repercussions for an already grave security situation, with drug lords joining the Taliban-led fight against Afghan and international forces.”

To mark the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the White House is planning a “public relations blitz” to counteract criticism that it bears some responsibility for “the government’s tardy response and the region’s slow recovery.” It started when the President met with a Katrina victim (later exposed as a right-wing political activist) who said, “I just wish the President could have another term in office.”

Rep. Chris Shays (R-CT) is the latest member of Congress to advocate a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. troops in Iraq. Shays has visited Iraq 14 times. This morning on Fox, he said that the way for the United States to succeed in Iraq is to “incentivize the Iraqis” to take control of their own country. The way to do that, according to Shays, is to let them know “there is a limit to our presence there.”
Shays noted that previous timelines — to hold elections and create a constitution — are what has spurred the greatest progress in Iraq. Watch it:
