CEO Alan Mulally … predicted that the industry will see plug-in hybrids, which combine electric motors with gasoline engines, in showrooms within five to 10 years. But he was careful not to commit Ford to production of them — only research for now — because the technology is in its early stage.

It’s about time. Plug ins are the future of green cars.
