"Climate Progress on C-SPAN2 Monday …"

cspan.jpg… if their website is to be believed. I’ll be debating (sort of) G. Gordon Liddy’s daughter on a panel moderated by John Stossel. Well, it’s not like the moderater has picked sides on global warming. Anyway, details on the program are here, though I confess I’m not 100% certain of the exact format with 8 panelists and Stossel dividing up 90 minutes plus audience questions.

  1. Lou Grinzo says:

“Dr. Romm, are you still exhaling, despite the fact that doing so adds to the amount of the so-called ‘greenhouse gas’ carbon dioxide?”

OK, it probably won’t be quite that bad…

  2. Chad says:

Hey Lou, check this out from Robert Bryce. It’s right along the same idiotic lines of reasoning.

“just before the final credits, in a segment addressing what individuals can do about global warming, the following line appears onscreen: ‘In fact, you can even reduce your carbon emissions to zero.’

This statement is so blatantly absurd that I am still stunned, weeks after watching Gore’s movie, that none of the dozens of smart people involved in the production of the movie – including, particularly, Gore himself – paused to wonder aloud something to the effect of, ‘Hey, what about breathing? Don’t we produce carbon dioxide through respiration?'”

  3. Hello Mr. Joseph Romm: I saw your panel discussion today on CSPAN w/ host John Stossel. I agree about your position on this topic.

I think the important thing to remember is that although as Ms. Liddy sited several sources to support her position about how 70% of some scientists think temperature increase is not so rapid, history shows that many times the majority of scientists have been wrong. Several hundred years ago about 90% of the scientific community believed the sun revolved around the earth, and that the world was flat. The point I’m trying to illustrate here is that many times the majority has been proven to be wrong.

Hi Joe, Oops, I commented in the wrong place the first time. Here’s where it should be.
I caught part of this brutal so-called C-span ‘debate’ (as if there are two sides on the question of the climate crisis). You are such a calm, reasonable, logical, patient person. I don’t know how you do it. I was left sputtering. Thanks for being such a great spokesperson for humankind.

    Cheers,
    Jenet
