Sen. Sessions (R-AL): This bill is the opposite of what the American people expect us to be doing.

I traveled my state this week … talked to a lot of people.

One thing that is absolutely clear. The American people are terribly concerned about the surge in gasoline and electricity prices. This is hurting them.

“Average families carpooling” [the horror!]

They want us to do something. They are not happy that we are importing 60% of the oil we are using. We are transfering out of our country $500 billion a year

It is the greatest wealth transfer in the history of the world.

The American people think were going to do something about high energy prices, to strengthen the American economy. Isn’t that what they pay us for.

This bill will raise energy prices and undermine competitiveness.

This Bill is just the opposite of what the American people would expect us to be doing.

I suggest Senator Reid go back to Nevada and talk to real people.

“… complex and sneaky cap and trade tax system.”

It would be an injection of Washington into the most wonderful thing we have, the free American economy.

It would supposedly cut carbon emissions 70% by 2050. But the population will be increasing. So this means will be reducing carbon emissions per capita 90% [he doesn’t quite have his math right].

We don’t have the technology to do that.

“sneaky tax”

This is a bill unjustified, unwise.
