The Senate’s longest-serving Republican, Stevens said he had no idea he was getting freebies.
Hmm. An Alaskan politician who simply expects the big money boys to buy them tens of thousands of dollars in stuff — where have we heard that before?
What’s funny is that Alaska has built their its economy around petro-dollar socialism, huge handouts from Big Oil. And yet the most famous Alaskan politician has the gall to accuse her opponents of being socialists, saying “now is no time to experiment with socialism.” Now that is projection.

Wost kind of socialism – Republican socialism!
As one unfamiliar with US electoral law, but with Stevens being convicted, does this mean that he cannot be elected to the Senate in the coming election?

From what I have read is that Stevens can be still elected to the Senate, although some are arguing that he can’t vote as a convicted felon.
As it is in Alaska, the polls generally showed that Stevens had enough support to win reelection if Stevens was found not guilty. The polls showed if found guilty the other guy would win the election.
Alaska’s system of funding state government is socialism and why hasn’t Obama’s Campaign brought this up. They could do that thru Biden partly by going to Wyoming and West Virginia and saying, it’s good enough for a McCain-Palen oil Alaska, why isn’t it good enough these coal states.

What is your opinion on the last line “The burden is on scientists to better explain in clear English the dynamics of the climate system, and how to affect it.”
Seems kind of ridiculous to me, especially given the rest of the article.
