Unfortunately, we aren’t building arks, we’re building moai, like the Easter-Islanders. We’re wasting precious time and resources on dead-ends when we desperately need to break with the status quo and actually addressing climate change and environmental degradation while we still have choices and resources to work with. Jared Diamond pointed that out eloquently in “Collapse” that societies always come back into balance with nature, whether by choice or cataclysm.
Sometimes nature comes back into balance without the society.
