Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK), right-wing conspiracy theorist and oil-industry apologist, has promised that Republicans are “certainties” to win at least the ten seats necessary to regain control of the U.S. Senate on November 2. Brad Johnson has the story.
In an interview while stumping for Colorado U.S. Senate candidate Ken Buck on Thursday, Inhofe told the National Review Online that extremist candidates such as Buck, John Raese (WV), Dino Rossi (WA), Pat Toomey (PA), and Carly Fiorina (CA) are guaranteed to win. Inhofe even said that Tea Party favorite Christine O’Donnell (DE) has a shot:
We’ll take over the following seats where there are Democratic incumbents: Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Washington state, West Virginia “” where I’ll be Monday “” North Dakota, and I think California. Now that’s Barbara Boxer. She’s the one that’s been sitting next to me on the armed services, uh, the environment and public works committee . We can win in Connecticut, Delaware, certainly in Nevada. But the ones I named first, in my opinion, are certainties that Republicans will win, and that’s what it will take for us to take control.

Can we believe anything that Inhofe says?
Well, let’s hope that Republican voters believe that and stay at home
Like Mark said – this guy has a less than stellar record at predicting reality…
I find it hard for Inhofe to guarantee a Ken Buck (CO) victory considering that Buck’s recent public displays of stupidity have caused his lead in polls to vanish (Inhofe was present to witness his most recent blunder). Buck’s opponent, Bennet, carries all of the momentum going into the final week before Nov. 2.
Then again I guess Inhofe is famous for the very fact that he has a distroted view of reality (to put it lightly).
Once again, Jim has earned his annual listing in “Dumbest Members of Congress”. He’s one of the few Senators to make the list every year.
Considering how divorced from reality Inhofe is, now I feel even more confident that the GOP won’t take over the Senate.
They will lose in California and probably in Washington as well. And there’s a very good chance they’ll lose in West Virginia. Maybe even in Colorado, and hopefully Nevada. But they have no shot in Delaware or Connecticut – that’s pure delusion.
The House yes, Republicans will probably take over. But the Senate ain’t happening. It will probably be 52-48, Dems.
Maybe Inofe knows whether the candidates are running in states that use electronic voting machines without internal printers. Easily rigged, these machines don’t allow for a manual paper recount. Then there are the absentee ballots without proper ID requirements. Maybe Inofe knows that vote riggers always win elections even while they fail Ethics 101.
I have to say, this is going to be a very interesting election cycle. I’m pretty resigned to the idea that republicans are going to control the house. They’re unlikely to take the senate regardless of anything Inhofe has to say about the matter.
My hope is that those on the left are now concerned enough about what the Tea Party might do to this country that they are going to turn out to vote in larger than expected numbers. And I think the middle is more likely to stay home because they really don’t buy into the Tea Party extremism.
Higher overall turnout bodes well for the left.
Here is a very worthwhile video to watch. Rachel Maddow talking about what Obama has done so far:

James “Baghdad Bob” Inhofe once again paints a rosy picture of life as he wants it.
Well at least the dems don’t have to resort to fear mongering. Inhofe seems to have done that for them.
If Inhofe thinks Buck is certain to win in Colorado, shouldn’t he be somewhere else stumping for a candidate who merely has a chance?
My favorite Inhofe moment was March of 2006 , when he stood in the well of the Senate , and railed against climate change, as Oklahoma was suffering the worst fire storms in it’s history.
Number 4, Daniel Ives: ” ‘Distroted’ view of reality” is funny. I hope it’s not just a typo.
I’d love for him to resign if they don’t.
Delaware? I don’t think so.
Boxer will win, Sestak and Toomey are pretty much neck and neck as are Buck and Bennet, O’Donnell is getting creamed, Raese is behind by 5% in recent polling….
Inhofe is a dope.
Perhaps the senator forgot the 60 vote rule? No one is running the senate now on energy issues and November most likely won’t change that which of course is probably why the distinguished senator is really optimistic. For him, doing nothing on green energy conversion is victory. It is too bad though that he is fairly well on in years and will most probably miss the “crimes against humanity” tribunals that we may be seeing in a few years.
Jim Inhofe…lessee…he would be the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people.
No need or reason to take him seriously….
