“The Australian TV show Hungry Beast teamed up with climate scientists to point out what the media won’t — while scientists may debate the degree & speed of change, the people who completely deny the reality of global warming aren’t climate scientists,” as Miles Grant put it.

Ho-leeee sh…..
I bet nobody saw that coming.
Pretty hilarious and obviously done more in fun than politics or anything, but unfortunately you know the deniers will spin it into that.
On that note – I really wish the guy hadn’t said “preach” at the end.
AMEN, HALLELUJIAH!! Reposted everywhere!!!! Studs and Hotties all of ya’!
Brilliant!
Let’s hope it goes viral.
Spin is hard to prevent. Play it straight and they’ll cut and paste your words, mock your caution and talk about all your big research grants. I’d rather see this kind of experimentation with other ways of making some points than just see sober, serious scientists being harassed, smeared, and (at least figuratively) wedgied…
great stuff.
Only way to engage the younger gen….
really good, thanks. gonna post it a few places.
Excellent, and they’re all young too
OT, but Lou Grinzo has a graph showing trends in monthly Arctic sea ice volumes:
http://www.grinzo.com/energy/2011/05/11/arctic-ice-volume-definitely-not-good-news/
The data is from UW’s PSC PIOMAS unit. Neven did a simple quadratic trend:
http://neven1.typepad.com/blog/2011/05/piomas-april-2011.html
Usual caveats: The data is estimated ice volume, and the trends are simplified — not even projections. But worth watching.
This will reach the young folks. (Or they will “reach” it. “We… reach, Mr. Spock.”)
A little foul language, true — but no big red button and no exploding people. I’d say it’s a net win.

I couldn’t resist – I went over to WUWT to see how the climate rubes are reacting to it, and of course it’s being met with your typical stuffy moral outrage and condescension.
It’s amazing how they can fit BOTH a giant stick AND their heads up their own ***.
I wish there were a PG version. I’m a teacher and I’d use it with my kids at school but it’s to far over the R barrier for that.
Yo,
Petroleum is not an energy resource. (It’s a liquid)
Coal is not an energy resource. (It’s a solid)
Uranium is not an energy resource. (It’s an element)
Fossil methane is not an energy resource. (It’s a gas)
They are fracking killers. Explosives that matter and indeed are matter. Contaminants all, they meltdown ice caps and glaciers, cause atomic meltdowns and radiological poisons, and meltdown national economies to say nothing of dying ecologies.
Momma earth is sick from the human race and it’s eco-vomit as economic. She will soon convert from the horizontal curve of exponential response to the vertical. Time to get serious with transnational plutocrats and their government hacks and change the economics. The word starts with eco after all. Yo.
I love it!!! :)
Thank you Solar Jim.
I often make a resolution that I should refer to these things as fossil materials rather than “fossil fuels”. But sometimes I slip. Maybe I’ll just call them fossils – a good reminder that we’re fooling with geological time-frames here.
Oh. And I love the video.
“a tad off-color”?! I think you spelt that wrong. It’s ‘colour’ to you, biatch! Yo.
Great video. Rude is good. Sometimes. Like when it matters.
Loved it, F###ing hilarious.
Thanks for pointing this video out Joe.
As an Aussie I am pleased that this comes from an Aussie show.
The Andrew Bolt mentioned in the video is a journalist, who is Australia’s premier reality denier.
We have to continue to earnestly criticize the deniers but it is also good to laugh at them sometimes.
I’d like to see Lindzen, Michaels, and Christy try to pull off a response….yeah, that would be interesting…..
YES!YES!YES! Absolutely marvelous!
To clarify: The video is brilliant, and we need more messages, paid ads, communications in all media, in the same vein. Just wonderful.
The best thing is, it hits exactly the right tone: Tells it like it is, calls hypocrites “hypocrites” and calls greedy know-nothings “greedy know-nothings”! Imagine that. Now’s the time for blunt messaging – - and if the deniers take offense, so be it. Can no longer afford to worry about manners. The media and public need to be hit over the head – let’s go for it!
You should see the harrumphing about what the kids have come to these days over at WUWT.
Love it! The strongest possible messages using all media all the time. . .
Bravo! A 2X4 for the ages! Tweety Birds in Cowtown, sequins scattered ’round, Ten Gallons flyin’, faces in the ground.
YeeeHaw!!!
Leave it to rap artists to get right to the point!!! All our Australian friends should be proud in spite of a Medieval government.
(The lyrics no longer appear to be available at HungryBeast, or else they have been moved.)
I’ll be watching this every time the insanity gets me down.
Brilliant! Please post lyrics (link provided doesn’t work) so video+lyrics can be forwarded to folks who might have difficulty understanding the clever rapping.
The video was really great (even though i’m no fan of the style), but try reading some of the comments on the youtube and u’ll be quickly disillusioned by the current state of humanity. Are these guys paid to make these comments, or is it just pure stupidity??
Love it! This needed to be said in Australia and with the combination of youth and humour is especially valuable.
Quite wonderful. Reason needs all the help it can get.
Samaelix… I think you’re onto something there. I think there are small groups of people being paid to comment. I’ve been over there at the Hungry Beast video countering the arguments for several days now. I work from home on my own business so it’s easy for me to pop in and out making comments. This one guy has been there solidly for the better part of a week making comments that all reference his own website. One which he can’t even adequately quote.
I’ve hammered him constantly to get him to stop self referencing and start citing the actual literature directly. When he finally did he cited Richard Alley, Jason Box and others work all which I know very well. And of course, all work that supports AGW.
I’d like to figure out where these guys get hooked up. I’m pretty confident they are paid. I even called him on it and he wouldn’t respond. I could be totally wrong but I think that is what’s going on. It’s just too consistent.
