GOP Appropriations Committee Slashes Clean Energy Programs By $1.3 Billion

This morning, the House Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittee passed a bill out of committee that would slash investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency programs at the Department of Energy by $1.3 billion — leaving half of what President Obama requested for Fiscal Year 2012. Ranking Appropriations Committee Democrat Norm Dicks (WA) responded: “This is the kind of bill we should be increasing funding for — getting people back to work…We need to put people back to work. This is a serious mistake.”
