Climate Disasters Have Cost U.S. $23 To $28 Billion This Year Already | Severe weather events fueled by unregulated carbon pollution have cost the United States between $23 billion and $28 billion already this year. The cost includes losses from April and May’s tornadoes and severe storms, flooding of the Mississippi River from Illinois to Louisiana, flooding of the Missouri River from the Montana to Missouri, and drought and wildfires in the Southwest.
