Coal Slurry Spill Threatens Tuscaloosa’s Water | WIAT’s Sherri Jackson reports on initial testing results from the coal slurry spill that contaminated Tuscaloosa’s North River on July 15, finding excessive levels of arsenic, lead, total suspended solids, and turbidity. Walter Energy’s spokesman had previously claimed the spill, which threatens Tuscaloosa’s water supply in Lake Tuscaloosa, was entirely non-hazardous:
