Global Warming Is Happening, Berkeley-Area Panel Says | Despite claims by critics to the contrary, the planet is warming, according to a panel at the University of California at Berkeley the non-profit Novim Group. The Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature team measured the temperature data behind the consensus on global warming, and found that the earth’s land surface has warmed 1 degree Centigrade (1.8 degrees Fahrenheit) since 1950. “Our biggest surprise was that the new results agreed so closely with warming values published previously,” said Richard Muller, Berkely Earth’s founder and scientific director.
