I now realize I was wrong.
The Republican Party’s philosophy can be summed up in one syllable: Greed.
It seems that, like Sméagol in Tolkien’s novel, their lives are devoted to nothing but worshipping “my precious…” and finding ways to put more money into their pockets and their cronies’, with no regard for any principles. It’s as if they look through every Congressional bill like vultures trying to get their claws on every scrap of money that’ll be given out. At least that seems to be the only way to consistently explain their behaviour towards various government funding initiatives.
